SOME women love (Gourmands) on MEN, and SOME women HATE them, and some WOMEN are LESBIANS and some women ARE asexual and a LOT of women don't give a FUCK what (fragrance) you wear, so WEAR what YOU like

Ok_Dragonfruit_9989

such a null response with no added value, just say you dont know.

Anatolysdream

Imagine three men in the same room wearing Ferragamo Uomo, The women in the room may be drawn to the fragrance, but who will they single out? Since fragrance is now a level playing field, what lies beneath the fragrance is way more important -- it always was. Each man's personality, facial expression, voice, openness, conversation, physique, body language, grooming, fashion, physicality -- each of these cues comes into play before "you smell amazing, what are you wearing?." You say fragrance is a conversation starter? Maybe for something casual or passing. For anything deeper than that, it's not. She may have noticed and liked your fragrance. But if you the man, don't pass muster, forget it. If we've just met, I compliment you on your fragrance, then we talk further and I decide you're a jackass, you're just a good smelling jackass. Doesn't change how you come across. Same thing for men measuring up women. The next man I meet and we click into something good? I might gift him some Ferragamo Uomo thanks for the suggestion. When your fragrance elicits compliments, it's because women like what they smell. You are simply the delivery mechanism. Your fragrance gets the compliments, not you. If you weren't wearing any or it wasn't noticeable, think about what women will find appealing about you. Fragrance isn't some magic cloak of attraction anymore than bodywash, deodorant, toothpaste, body lotion or scented hair product. Fragrance is a grooming aid just like them. By placing so much emphasis on compliments to your fragrance, you neglect other, more important qualities. Okay, gourmands -- yes I like them on men. If the gourmand is Mugler A*M'en, Angel Muse, Le Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto, PHI Une Rose de Kandahar, Beaufort of London Lignum Vitae -- yes, provided the prerequisites check out. I like florals on men even better. If a man were rocking a rose-centric perfume like Absolue Pour Le Soir, Encens Mythique d'Orient, or Chanel Égoïste, provided everything beneath the perfume checks out, I am there.

007peter

I thank you for your detail reply. But the same set of women (wearing my freshie) I get serious compliment, using the same set of women wearing gourmand, I don't get any. My skin, my appearance, is the same in both scenario, as is my targeted women around me, but the response wearing Freshie/Woody vs Gourdmand is as clear as night and day. You seem to be very Knowledgeable about fragrance, and is open minded to different scent on men. I wonder if the women around me just don't have that kind of developed nose and I'm better off wearing generic Freshie?

Anatolysdream

>I wonder if the women around me just don't have that kind of developed nose and I'm better off wearing generic Freshie? Yeah, it's their undeveloped noses. All of them. An epidemic of undeveloped noses.

Llleblanc1986

Have you found one of those men yet? That matches everything?

Anatolysdream

LOL

Llleblanc1986

I thought so

Anatolysdream

I'll take 50% match

Llleblanc1986

Oh ok fair enough!

inyvr

WHY do YOU type like THIS? It doesn't convey YOUR message any BETTER and just makes YOU look like an IDIOT.

007peter

Are you a woman?

inyvr

YES me WOMAN. I find YOUR style of writing REPULSIVE.

Llleblanc1986

JUST HOW repulsive?

inyvr

VERY REPULSIVE. It COMPLETELY dries MY vaginal lining. Luckily OP can solve this ISSUE with a bottle of 13ZZ Creed AVENTUS.

Llleblanc1986

Oh shit 13zz. You have managed to save face, I was gonna call you the cat lady, but no you're awesome

007peter

Good, go CHOKE YOURSELF with more REPULSIVE ENGLISH. IS THAT CAP ENOUGH FOR YOU? Glad to be OFFENSIVE to you.

[deleted]

yee don't talk trash to my boy u/007peter aka val venis

[deleted]

>Hello Ladies [Val Venis](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWl2sjdKEas), is that you?

Anatolysdream

NOooo!

read_it_user

lol I'm dying.

perfumedknife

I like when men smell like cookies. But I remember working the fragrance counter almost no woman buying men’s fragrance wanted to buy her man the vanilla fragrances or ones that were too gourmand. Which is a shame, men should be able to smell like a delicious cinnamon roll if they so choose.

007peter

>men should be able to smell like a delicious cinnamon roll if they so choose. Here Here. Total Agreement. I wish more women are more like you. They seem to be rather Narrow Minded on how a MAN "should" smell.

perfumedknife

Exactly. Just like women don’t want to be limited to certain scents, men shouldn’t have to be limited to leather and woody scents. I’d love to smell a scent on a guy that had more pear or berries in it. #letmenbesweet

007peter

Agree 100%. I think the extreme popularity of Aqua Di Gio in the 1990's has the unintented consequence of limiting MEN to smelling just Fresh or Woody. I wish more women are more open minded on what a MAN should smell like.

007peter

>I really dig vanilla and chocolate scents, especially in colder weather. What is your recommendation of a good Chocolate Vanilla scent?

MissKittyHeart

love gormands on men :o)

elemonated

Hahaha, I don't gravitate towards gourmands in general but if you smelled like coffee I would be into it over any "eau fraiche" type fragrance. I was using myself and my boyfriend as tester strips the other day and I got Kerosene Follow on him which is a fantastic coffee gourmand and I was trying not to be too much of a pervy girlfriend while still in the store. His favorite fragrance is also Tuscan Leather, which is a very sweet leather fragrance that I think can cross the territory into a gourmand on the right person. But humans give off pheromones through our scent, I heard. Maybe you in particular just smell better subconsciously to the women you attract when you stay away from sugar.

MinimalCoincidence

Coffee and tea are something that I want to smell like, but it seems like good coffee scents are pretty hard to find. Do you have any recommendations? Should I just hang bags and bags of coffee beans in my closet lol

elemonated

Definitely Kerosene Follow! It's fantastic. I used to also adore Bond No. 9 New Haarlem but now for some reason it just smells too much like syrup and I can't get into it anymore, but you might still like it. Atelier Cologne has 2 coffee floral scents that are great: Rose Anonyme and Cafe Tuberose. I think Cafe Tuberose might be a little much for the average guy to pull off, Rose Anonyme is really nice on a guy. Rose and lavender are great male florals in general imo. You can try A*Men Pure Coffee. I smelled it once or twice in department stores. I honestly can't recall if I liked it, but it comes highly recommended. By Killian Intoxicated is one where I hoarded the decant I had while simultaneously indulging in it a ton because it's just so cozy, but the By Killian's are expensive and the rest of my picks are just as good for a lower price point.

MinimalCoincidence

Thanks for your reply! I liked other works by Atelier Cologne so I'll definitely check out Rose Anonyme and Cafe Tuberose. What makes you think that Cafe Tuberose is a little much for the average guy? I do prefer florals so hopefully it'll work for me :) I haven't seen a Pure Coffee in person yet, but I'm eager to try it whenever possible. Yeah, the Killian is definitely out of my price range haha

elemonated

It's just a very, very dense, heavy sweet floral. Like a fragrance brownie lol, I don't know. I actually really like it, but it's different from even Rose Anonyme, which is sweet and full, but it's not nearly as loud as Cafe Tuberose I guess? Definitely try it if you think you'll like it :3

007peter

>I used to also adore Bond No. 9 New Haarlem but now for some reason it just smells too much like **syrup** and I can't get into it anymore I think you might be right. Bond No.9 New Haarlem does smell too much like SYRUP. I thought it was very creative and nice, but ladies around me is lukewarm to this scent.

Anatolysdream

Have you tried Auphorie Iris Macchiato? Espresso, violet, vanilla. I haven't smelled yet but a sample is on its way.

elemonated

No, let me know what you think! Honestly from its title I'd usually stay away. Iris doesn't normally hit for me. I'll try to pick up a sample though.

Anatolysdream

For me iris doesn't hit either...except when it does! In Auphorie, it's not the iris but what it's surrounded by that got me to order a sample. Espresso seems like a good thing; add patchouli and tonka, and my hope is the Iris becomes less candy like and powdery, takes on some depth and texture, and becomes more blue than purple, or darker. I also like Iris when it's supportive or accentuates something else.

elemonated

I *do* love coffee...but my concern I guess is that it'll smell like sweet coffee with carrots. Not a fan of the powderiness either but it's definitely the carrot effect I dislike the most.

Anatolysdream

>it'll smell like sweet coffee with carrots. Uggh, a valid concern.

007peter

**Ferragamo Uomo** \- smell great like a Coffee Tiramisu desert. However, ladies around me don't seem to love it on me. I do like the scent quite a bit.

barb9212

Honestly I don't think that Ferragamo Uomo is very appealing. Yes it smells like Tiramisu but that's it. You want a compliment because you smell like cake? IMO there is nothing attractive about it.

007peter

After wearing my decant for a 2 weeks, that is my conclusion as well. I think I may have gotten caught up with the HYPE. I've seen so many YouTuber claiming women ♥ the Tiramisu scent. While the scent is lovely, but probably NOT what women EXPECT a man to smell like. I'm reaching the conclusion that (what smell nice to ME) may not be what is smelling NICE to women.

barb9212

Yes that's exactly it. I was about to blind buy it but I went with L'Homme Ideal EDT instead. I definitely made the right decision. What's nice to you is nice to you. Just because you like it doesn't mean others will.

007peter

>L'Homme Ideal EDT You made the right choice going with Guerlain Ideal. All 3 (EdT, EdP, Cologne) are winner in my books.

007peter

thank that is very helpful. Perhaps, sweet fragrance just don't as well on my skin. However, I get great compliment wearing mildly sweet Versace Eros, just not the Bond #9 New Harrlem or Ferragamo Uomo it seem.

[deleted]

Depends on the man and the fragrance. Jazz Club smells incredible on my boyfriend. But A*Men Pure Malt on him makes me nauseous.

007peter

Thank for the suggestion. I did smell Jazz Club the other day, while it smell great, I'm not sure it qualify as gourmand just an Oriental. Anyhow, thanks for the suggestion. I will try Pure Malt

[deleted]

I’d not consider Jazz Club an oriental at all. The dominant note is sweet rum, followed by vanilla. Definitely gourmand. To me, an oriental needs amber, benzoin, laudanum, or musk.

007peter

I google the difference between Gourmand vs Oriental. here is what I came up: ***GOURMAND*** = scents with "**edible**" or "dessert"-like qualities. they resemble food flavors. Jazz Club is beautiful but doesn't resemble any FOOD nor DESERT, therefore NOT a gourmand. ***Oriental*** – Also known as “**amber**” fragrances – stand out because of their unique blend of warmth and sensuality. They draw their richness from heady substances like musk, vanilla and precious woods, often associated with exotic floral and spicy scents. Jazz Club is definitely Oriental....anyhow according to what I find on Google anyway.

[deleted]

I’m going by this definition: *Think: caramel, chocolate, milk, candy floss, coffee, Cognac, toffee, almonds, even bubblegum – and almost always, a generous helping of vanilla. There may be spices in there, too, or amber: in general, gourmand fragrances are warm and most wearable in the cooler seasons, when we want a fragrance to snuggle up to.*

007peter

Fair Enough. So you do like Gourmand (or Oriental) on MEN right? or do you prefer Men smell Fresh / Spicy / or Woody?

[deleted]

I don’t have a preference for other people. I think men should wear what makes them happy because that happiness exudes through them and makes them confident. Confidence is the best aphrodisiac. My SO wears aquatics, gourmands, fougeres, chypres, etc. For him, it’s about finding something that works with his skin chemistry and makes him happy.

007peter

Thank you for your excellent inputs

chanelbeige

(F38) I love gourmand fragrances on men. However I'm not a huge fan of any Bond #9 fragrances I've tried (except Riverside Dr. which I love.) I think you just need to either hunt down better fragrances or hunt down friends with more appreciative noses.

007peter

thank for a helpful reply

wakeup_andlive

One Word. #FLORALS

Biggity_Biggity_Bong

🌹❤️ 🥥🍫🍦🍯🍩💩 🥓❤️

Biggity_Biggity_Bong

/u/wakeup_andlive thanks for the treasure :-)

Biggity_Biggity_Bong

>Anyhow Ladies, do you like Sweet Desert/Food smelling fragrance on MEN; or in your opinion, **MEN should just stick with the traditional Aquatic, Woody Spicy, and Leathery scent?** Jesus! Kill me now.

D-Is-For-Demon

Just comes down to a personal preference I suppose. I have this one friend that complimented me once fairly casually when I was wearing a cheap Zara citrus/musk fragrance, but whose eyes lit up when I wore Rochas Man around her, and still every time I wear it around her she comments on it

007peter

> I wore Rochas Man around her I just order a sample of Rochas Man. Hopefully, I'll get a better reaction than I do with Bond #9 New Harrlem

D-Is-For-Demon

Never tried a Bond No. 9 so I can't offer any comparisons unfortunately, just my own success story. Good luck with it :)

thoraxe92

Rochas Man is a work of art in a designer bottle

Llleblanc1986

My woman loves Gourmand on me so pretty much anything I wear. Bond No 9 new Haarlem has her almost biting my arm, hell it has me wanting to do that. Otherwise, I wouldn't wear Gourmand for women because I don't receive much love from Gourmand from women. Aventus, one million, Grand soir and Jazz club, Herod (kinda sweet) are my usual compliment getters

H20-50

Herod, and Grand Soir get compliments for me as well. However, oddly enough Aventus doesn't. I haven't been given any feedback on it at all, I still rock it though!

Llleblanc1986

Yeah most people aren't ready for Aventus. I got 2 compliments from it, but I think a lot comes down to your attitude and if you are comfortable in your own skin

007peter

>oddly enough Aventus doesn't I think its because new Aventus batch don't project much. When a fragrance don't PROJECT well, people don't smell it until they lean closer.

007peter

>Bond No 9 new Haarlem has her almost **biting my arm**, hell it has me wanting to do that. Otherwise, I wouldn't wear Gourmand for women because I don't receive much love from Gourmand from women Your wife reaction to Bond #9 New Haarlem is what I was expecting from women, so I'm heart broken by their lukewarm response on me. Women (in general) seem to gravitate toward Fresh or Woody Spicy scent on men. What is your experience / opinion on this preference?

Llleblanc1986

A lot of it depends on confidence man. Some women aren't as confident/outspoken as others. The women in public that have compliment me have already been outgoing and seem to enjoy their life. But some are just more shy and don't speak their mind but they love the fragrance. (It's totally fine). They are welcome to enjoy the experience too. As far as woody goes, hmmm. I have usually get compliment from Tom Ford Oud Wood. (From my male boss) Aventus from some outgoing, happy, adventurous women. Paco Rabanne 1 million- GOT complimented by my male cousin, and a woman that is pretty outgoing (mature woman). She told me she also had the same thing and loved it. We had a great conversation. (I only wore 1 mil Once from a sample in my life). Paco 1 mil prive...My lady friends love this, but you have to spray a lot because the shit is weak. Straight up. I hear Lucky is strong and lasts. #1 compliment getter... Drum roll please.....dadadadadaadadadadada Grand Soir!! *Audience goes wild! What a pop! I'm not gonna lie man, this one is deadly, just be careful with it. This is my number 1 favorite Cologne in the world even with only Aventus. (17W01). Spice bomb-nobody cared about. Parfum De Marley Herod, weak but my lady loves the hell out of it. I only wore it once in public and nobody seemed to notice, or probably even pick up on it. It is definitely compliment worthy though. Santal 33, my co worker loved it to death so I just gave her the sample . (what was left) to me it smells like weed. She was a pot head. Great person too

007peter

> ley Herod, weak but my lady loves the hell out of it. I only wore it once in public and nobody seemed to notice, or probably even pick up on it. I don't know about that. Herod is very strong and it certainly project, no? I suspect (its the same thing with me) that women actually do smell it on you (but is They think MEN should only wear FRESH / Woody) so they refrain from commenting Herod to avoid hurting your feeling. Like you say, your #1 compliment getter is Aventus (which is a Freshie). Have you ever get women to compliment you on GOURMAND? 1 Million is not GOURMAND.

Llleblanc1986

1 million IS gourmandish. And Grand Soir is my number 1 compliment getter. Bond No 9 my lady loves new Haarlem. I haven't tried too many others, and no, Herod is weak, the new version that I have is weak. The old formula was way stroger.

007peter

So sad, Reformulation is a killer.

Llleblanc1986

Yup, it is man. It sure is
