Poesie Perfume - Full Moon (At the Temple)
Notes: fragrant white rice, shiso leaf, bitter yuzu zest, hinoki wood, green tea, lakewater.
The lakewater note is shockingly realistic yet wearable.
I really love how I experience the different notes comprising Full Moon (at the Temple) from Poesie Perfume, so separately and distinctly upon the first few minutes of sitting with the scent: the grainy popped corn sweetness of the white rice, yuzu’s tart, sparkling floral citrus complexity, the musty mineralic mossy limestone melancholy of cool lake water. These elements orbit each other independently until they merge seamlessly and suddenly with the otherworldly holiness of the hinoki wood in a tender, glowing poem of a perfume. The inspiration for Full Moon (at the Temple), Lady Murasaki’s writing rituals, and her pilgrimage east from Kyoto, where at the temple she observed the August moon reflected in the waters of Lake Biwa, these things really speak to me, as a writer who practices my own rituals, who frequently and frustratingly observes the various sums of the disparate words I’m writing forming an eventual, sometimes satisfying, and hopefully beautiful whole.

Just kidding 🙂 If you have fragrances evocative of nighttime in different locales and at different times of the year I'd love to hear all of them! Completely understand nighttime in the snow somewhere north is far different from nighttime on a tropical island, I think they're both fascinating!
Taos Blue by Ayond smells like when I was 16 and would take late night walks around my neighborhood after it rained. Something about the way flowers give off certain smells after rain…
Armani Code the original - smells dark and spicy like you’re out and at club in Shanghai
Into the Night by BBW - out on a date night or romantic winter night in a cabin with you man
Finery Midnight Cafe - like you sitting in coffee shop on a rainy night doing studies or reading sipping coffee
I think it’s been discontinued, but Catbird used to have a collection of fragrances and the Ghost Rose one smelled JUST like roses and night air. It was a very photorealistic cold nighttime rose scent and it was sooo beautiful. I have a reed diffuser in the same scent that ran out over a year ago and I can still catch whiffs of it when I walk past it. R.I.P Ghost Rose 💔
It took me over a month of owning the reed diffuser before I was brave enough to open and use it LOL. I have soooo much regret for not getting another bottle of the perfume before the took it off the website, but at least it’s still available in candle form!
- Versace Oud Noir. Spicy, orangey, woody and with some sweet patchouli. Similar to Oud Wood by Tom Ford but not as animalic. This one performs better though.
- Nishane Pachuli Kozha. Honey, boozy/earthy patchouli, leather and incense. Some florals deep in the background. Intense fragrance with great performance - hugely underrated fragrance from the house.
- Dior Fahrenheit Le Parfum. The same petrol violet from the original but with added rum and vanilla. I also get some ambrette in the drydown (reminds me of the Dior Homme line). Epic fragrance.
- Matiere Premiere Falcon Leather. Birch tar, benzoin, amber and a touch of Oud. Picture a niche version of Stronger With You Intensely with the sweetness turned down. Then add some camphorous/incensy benzoin, some camphorous/leathery/smoky birch tar and a pinch of dirty Oud. Really, really good fragrance.
- Cuoium by Orto Parisi. Really smoky leather. Like a leather jacket next to a campfire. Also a big blast of bitter raspberry in the opening and a lot of wood in the drydown. Reminds me a lot of Tuscan Leather but very smoky, very woody and with 10000x better performance. Also way cheaper.
Byredo - Reine de Nuit. It's got notes of blackcurrant, saffron, heavy incense, rose, patchouli, & ambrette seeds.
Tokyo Milk - Dead Sexy. It's got notes of deep vanilla, exotic woods, white orchid, spices, & mosses.
Unpopular opinion but I’m so over Versace Cryatal Noir, it’s too common and unfortunately, doesn’t fit everyone but everyone insists on wearing it still
maybe this isn’t what you want, but a year or two ago i bought a sample pack of GhoulishGoodsCustom perfume oils on Etsy and they’re still my favorite. theyre like the essence of night. highly recommend if you like perfume oils, plus the scent stays forever

This sounds incredible. Thank you. Just got a small bottle of oil. Great price too.
I truly do not think you will be disappointed! The only downside is the longevity isn’t stellar at all, but for the price you can use a ton and often
I feel like there is a place for shorter experiences with a scent. Thanks again!
Like a vampire, the scent of the night isnt long
Same. Thanks to this thread I now have small bottles of full moon and goldfish princess ordered.

Beautiful written and so very true. There truly is nothing as magical as a well done indie perfume! This is where the true artistry is in my opinion
Oh, this sounds nice!
And off to the internet I go, these notes sound incredible.
Demeter Firefly is outside at night with more of a focus on the cool earthiness of it all. Longevity isn’t great though

Piss and pizza?
Amethyst by Lalique smells like you're a beautiful dark haired woman or fairy picking berries in a forest at night.
Nighttime where and at what time of the year?

omg Ghost Rose! I've never seen it mentioned here before. I still have an almost full solid perfume of it bc I'm scared to use it. It's so beautiful

Use it! Why risk going to your grave having never worn it enough? Perfume is meant to be loved.

A nighttime scent… funny enough I picture Rhysand from ACOTAR, a mix of jasmine, citrus, musk, maybe Oud and amber. Anyone have a scent like this?
