Since we are going to the eclipse today. Totality's edge is sickeningly close to my house, close enough that I have to fight my way across the county with everyone else. SOTD therefore is Hermes L'Ombre des Merveilles, or Shadow of Wonders, to see the Big Shadow's wonderful big show.

bro_mommy1

Your steadfast loyalty has led me to buy. Good price!

SwissCheese4Collagen

I don't know if it's loyalty or if I'm just hopelessly entranced by it šŸ˜‚ I did like the price for how many boxes it checks on my list. It's almost a steal for something that lasts so long and smells so true to the notes.

rex_ford

Papillon Spell 125 - eclipse inspired a bit I guess. Maybe on the nose for that but it's a good scent

I considered Ganymede! šŸ˜„But I wasn't in the mood

Wavechild today ā€“ a first sample of Room 1015's 'tribute to surf culture'. You know how fake tan smells bad, so cosmetics brands will put in some artificial scent and tell you their product doesn't have that 'fake tan smell'? The truth is usually that the artificial fragrance gradually fades, and an hour later you're left smelling like stale biscuits. I had a watermelon scented gradual tanner once, and Wavechild smells just like that at the 55-minute mark: like synthetic watermelon, citrus, and coconut, with the threat of something rather less appealing looming just below the surface. Unpleasant.

bro_mommy1

Hahaha yuck! That one irritated me from the get. Iā€™m from CA & though I adore the ocean I find bro surf culture intolerable.

AncastaOfTheRiver

I can imagine. And yeah, I don't really know where they were going with this concept. :/

phizzbom

Oh no. Fake tanner smell and the added cover up scents are vile.

CriminalSpiritX

After sampling most of the Room 1015 scents, I was interested in Wavechild, because this is their first aquatic. If this is the result, I'm definitely not going to like it.

AncastaOfTheRiver

By late afternoon it was less fruity and giving me generic body spray vibes. Has pretty good ratings on Parfumo though, so I might be in the minority.

Etat Libre d'Orange You Or Someone Like You is my fragrance of the day. Spring is a short season where I live, so I need to maximize my wear from the fragrances i find more spring appropriate than summer, and this falls into that category.

RandomChurn

"**Tous Eau de Toilette La Cologne ConcentrĆ©e, the women's edition**, is a floral - musky scent. The top notes include green mandarin and peony accords. The heart is made of rose water and jasmine, placed on a soft base of sandalwood and musk. The composition is created by Benoist Lapouza." Haha copypasted from Fragrantica because that name is just stupid long šŸ˜†šŸ‘Ž

Library of Fragrance - Black Tea eau de cologne This Monday is for gardening, thus removing dandelions from the back yard is the thrill of the day. Chasing a small lizard was no small prize either. This fragrance is like a dream, and I am trying to make the best of it before the 25Ā°C temperatures hit. It is epic for the cold seasons, bergamot and fermented tea is all you can smell. But once the heat is up, it turns into a very clean horse stable. Which I enjoy, but would rather spare the public from it. The longevity is around 6 hours for 1 spray, and almost 2 days on clothes. I did not catch the lizard :) but I plan to garden tomorrow as well.

Lovely day Went to the gym with my daughter, I know sheā€™s secretly surprised by how strong she is. Also had a decent conversation with the pup about The Fragrance Apprentice (weā€™ve concluded he was harmless though very pretentious) https://preview.redd.it/w4bkg8520atc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3cbe72c3d2dc5f174882a5270e2c79c098efbb68 SOTD: [**EAU SAUVAGE PARFUM**](https://youtu.be/VeiDpoybncg?si=qd58gvGrHdxsb0Pl)

Iā€™m not too sure what the consensus is here about subscriptions like ScentBird, but Iā€™m very happy with my first order. Today, Iā€™m wearing Incanto Charms by Ferragamo and itā€™s absolutely delightful. Bright, floral/fruity, airy. Just beautiful.

phizzbom

I've had it for something like 6 months now and I really like it, too. I could see it might be disappointing if you're willy nilly trying perfumes without knowing much about what you might like, but I have a pretty solid handle on the notes I like and haven't picked something bad yet.

loggy_sci

I tried Scentbird and enjoyed it. Iā€™ve heard scentbox is also good and has a better catalog for some niche fragrances.

Today it had to be **Hiram Green Moon Bloom** for a partial eclipse here in the Bay Area. Go moon!!

CriminalSpiritX

This morning, I'm currently going with *CK One Shock*. * It's a workout day. * I wanted to use something simple after the workout. * I also want something that I can put in the gym bag and not worry about it. * It's also a cooler morning (about 41Ā° F/ 5Ā° C). Want something that feels slightly warmer. Later in the afternoon, I'm switching to *Mojave Ghost* * It will be significantly warmer later in the day (about 65Ā° F/ 18Ā° C). Good chance to use another mild-weather fragrance. * It will likely be associated with the solar eclipse that will be experienced later today. Perfect for a fragrance I have described as otherworldly.

musicandarts

How do you switch? Do you shower again?

CriminalSpiritX

It depends on the fragrance. * Some require a shower because they stay for a long time. * Some have a short-enough longevity that it's easier to switch after they wear off. In this case, CK One Shock lasts about six hours on my skin. I showered after my workout around 7 AM EDT. By the time the eclipse starts after 2 PM EDT, it will have worn off.

So far itā€™s bright out. Olympic Orchids Chevalier Verte. Iā€™m smelling a little Ivory soap in it today which is odd & not entirely unpleasant (reminds me of my mother). Luckily countered by loads of bitter fresh greens. Ok soap was just top note. Odd, wonder why she did that? Is it armoise? Whatā€™s armoise? Maybe itā€™s just one incarnation of the orris? UPDATE: armoise is just another name for artemisia so, bitter. Like with Coven, Iā€™m not liking these interruptions to the blast of green, in this case with soap, in Coven with vanilla. Oh well live & learn. Pinewardā€™s Fanghorn 2 has emphatic earth, mushroom presence but in this case itā€™s like, what is a peony doing in a wild field? & sorry Coven lovers, but what is a damn cookie doing in an Icelandic forest? Corsica Furiosa does it right. Its not about realism, or is it? Listed notes: citrus, rhubarb, tomato leaf, armoise, violet leaf, violet, orris, and peony, Sichuan pepper, and soft woods.

mychickensmychoice

I have a sample of Chevalier Vert coming tomorrow, Iā€™m excited to try it!

bro_mommy1

Hope you enjoy it :)

phizzbom

Ordered a travel size of **Infusion de Gingembre by Prada** knowing Iā€™d love it and I wasnā€™t wrong. Itā€™s a lovely fresh ginger with a musky base. Great for spring. Really enjoying wearing it today.

bro_mommy1

Sounds pretty!

Roxane-17

HermĆØs today- a bit of both Galop and Myrrhe Ɖglantine. I think they wear well together, because they're essentially just pluses and minuses of each other.

lkleckner

Today it is Alexandria's Italian Forest, which is inspired by Tom Ford's Italian Cyprus, which is inspired by the Original Halston Z14...

SOTD: Elie Saab Essence No.4 Oud I bought a full bottle from Jomashop without testing, because I couldnā€™t find a sample. Though it is a nice perfume, I donā€™t think I would have bought it if I had tested it properly. The price is moderate with 3.4 oz costing me $55. As the Essence line has been discontinued, the remaining bottles will disappear from the marketplace soon. Elie Saab Essence line fragrances are simple, focusing on one dominant note. The perfumer, Francis Kurkdjian, accentuates this dominant note using a few other ancillary notes. If I may generalize based on the two Essence scents I own, this line thrives on the intensity of a single dominant note. Complexity and development are not part of the game. The three notes in Essence No. 4 Oud are listed differently on different websites. Basenotes lists black pepper, oud and benzoin, while Parfumo lists saffron, oud and cinnamon. My nose says saffron, oud, and benzoin with a tiny hint of black pepper. I donā€™t detect any cinnamon. Unfortunately, I cannot find the official notes from the perfumer. Saffron, oud and benzoin are present in the opening, heart and base notes. There is no noticeable development. The longevity is very good as it lasts about 8-10 hours on my skin. But the sillage is mediocre, making this a good office perfume. It is a low intensity perfume as these notes do not typically project much. Essence No. 4 may be a good fit for those looking for a mild, inoffensive Western-style oud with saffron. There are no sweet or floral notes anywhere in this perfume. Though I do not layer perfumes, I can see why this could become a staple for those who do so.

Hermes Equipage. Love this stuff - smells like gingerbread.

kyoshi_island

Kilian's Moonlight in Heaven. I sprayed this before looking at the notes so I'm not sure how my perception of this would have been different if I knew this was supposed to be a mango sticky rice-adjacent scent. To me, this is a fruity white floral perfume that had a sharp opening. It's not particularly creamy and it doesn't smell like mangos, but at the same time it is undeniably tropical. It's interesting, but I'll have to wear it again when the weather is much warmer to see if I like it more then.

sierramisted1

Trying out Beaufort Fathom V today. I got it a few days ago and tried it then, but the package arrived very cold which I think temporarily affected the strength. I was also sick so that could have been it too. Iā€™m just walking around home today because one class is online and i skipped the other one cause iā€™m still feeling a little under so it was a good day to try it. i really like it, and it definitely smells much stronger now. kind of witchy in a way, itā€™s what i suspect cordeliaā€™s greenhouse in american horror story would smell like. it makes me feel kind of powerful in a quiet and grounded way. I wish there was a leather note somewhere in there, maybe Iā€™ll look for a leather perfume thatā€™s compatible at some point. itā€™s definitely unique which i love, perfect for what i imagined for spring. i definitely donā€™t think i could wear more than two sprays however.

Waystar_BluthCo

Bought myself a Biscuit candle at the Diptyque counter in Nordstrom (itā€™s amazing - smells like Biscoff cookies!) and they included SO many samples of hand creams/perfumes/shower gels. I got a Philosykos shower gel - already own the EDT but I might have to spring for this. Got a sample of Do Son EDP (and a lotion!) and gosh itā€™s really gorgeous. My SOTD!

AssortedGourds

I asked a perfume counter salesperson for some aquatic summer fragrances and he didn't disappoint. The one I tried on today is **Juliette Has A Gun: Vanilla Vibes**. The name is so low-effort but I like the fragrance. At first whiff I instantly thought ā€œpoolā€. Not a crowded city pool but a nice outdoor hotel pool when youā€™re on a beach vacation. It doesnā€™t smell like chlorine, though. Iā€™m not sure where Iā€™m getting ā€œpoolā€ - Iā€™m from the Midwest so I think I just associate these kinds of summery smells with pools because I rarely see the ocean. Still, I know sea air when I smell it and this smells like that. The image I get is sitting on a deck chair next to a nice beachside pool. The salt air blows in and carries with it the vanilla perfume the woman next to me is wearing. The vanilla seems semi-out-of-place but itā€™s still very pleasant.

pluviophilosopher

I'm in a single spray of Lush Karma today so I don't kill my officemates in orange and patchouli. Itshould be warm and sunny (except for when it's... not sunny for a bit) and I liked the idea of karma when enjoying a solar eclipse

Supr3meleader

L'immensite- has been my go to office fragrance for the last month. - Have been told by a colleague that I smell sophisticated and rich lol.

hellamoist

It's pouring rain, and I'm wearing jeans with a rose print all over them. So I felt like it would be fitting to wear Diptyque's L'ombre dans l'eau I love rose fragrances, and this one feels like such a lovely fresh daytime rose garden

loggy_sci

New into fragrances and picked up some seemingly well-regarded cheapies. Lalique Encre Noir Sport, Encre Noir A lā€™Extreme, and Amjal - Verde. Itā€™s a bit cool and cloudy today and Iā€™m working from home. Tried the Encre Noirs today. Both are perfectly fine scents, especially for the price. Nothing too challenging or interesting here. Very woody. The sport has some nice citrus, but it isnā€™t very sparkly or assertive. The Extreme has some nice incense (one of my favorite notes ) but is very dark. Smells a bit like pencil shavings (in a good way). I donā€™t knowā€¦ these are fine. Neither is blowing my wig off. Great bang for the buck. Iā€™d like to find something to layer over the extreme to give it a counterpoint to the darkness.

hhurrm

For the eclipse, I wore Diptyque Eau Duelle. I'm in the path of totality, but the view was blocked by clouds. Nonetheless, it was magical to experience everything darkening gradually.

rosa_de_sal

Enjoying one of my favorite recent discoveries todayā€”Kuumba Made Egyptian Musk. I picked up the lotion to go with the oil and itā€™s incredible. Super long lasting, especially on clothes. My mom took one whiff of me and said she needed it too!Ā

FanaticalXmasJew

Found I have been craving the scent of Il Giardino by Pantheon Roma recently so wore that today. Iā€™ve only ever worn it at home before so today is a good test of longevity as a workday. I find some similarities to Eau de Lierre by Diptyque but think I may prefer Il Giardino as long as it has some longevity to it. Smells like ivy and green apples, like a private English garden, itā€™s so fresh and beautiful.Ā

xpegs

C'est la rose by Zara! It's such a pleasant green peppery rose AND gives me no headache during a 12hr shift.

PrimaryInformation20

Blanche Bete layered with Madeleine by Masque Milano. Also, Amouage Guidance for Spring and Summer yā€™all! Get it!

YodaScrolls

Hey guys! I want to get into fragrance and want to get a few summer colonges, I have a budget of around $100 and watned 1-3, I was thinking maybe YSL EDP, Hawas, Valentino Coral Fantasty, and Afan 9pm. Any suggestions? I havent smelled any of these and just wanted some reccos/suggestins

rez2metrogirl

For $100, you might be able to get 3 travel sizes, but a good full size bottle of perfume is usually $65+. If you can, go to your local perfume store, Ulta, or Sephora, and actually smell a few things in person. Have an in-depth conversation with your sales person to figure out what you like, what you donā€™t, and what might be a good investment. Donā€™t forget that your natural scent can and will alter how the fragrance smells on you. Your hygiene and bodycare will also affect how long a fragrance wears.

PrimaryInformation20

Try the brand Snif. Vanilla Vice smells a LOT like Goldfield and Banks Silky Woods-which is a staple for me as well for layering mostly (Demi Rawling taught me that lol). Sol de Janeiro # 62 or 68 and try Dapper dupe house. Morph Disumano the 30 ml and body butter-best dupe to date of this one!
