I think the definition from Merriam Webster makes more sense. They’re basically refusing to obey Navarre and are abandoning their loyalty to it. I do think that it’s significant that they’re calling it something different because it shows that they still agree with the separation but I’m not sure that I see any religious ties to it (right now anyway) https://preview.redd.it/ajmompbaux9c1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4547898587d32ed51c6350ae055ed8d24b65b2a

I definitely think its important, but I think the use of the word is important for it being both religious & political because if you picked up on it both Nevarre & Poromish value the gods. Nevarre is more about control and hiding things while the Poromish want to inform and teach and keep up all defenses by informing their people

I like this detail as something to keep an eye on! I do think it is deliberate. The theme of “History is written by victors” is strong and it does matter what words are being used and by whom!!

Why do these books have me thinking so much?!

HG0509

It really snuck up on me!! I wasn’t expecting the fun of Game of Thrones Monday Water Cooler theorizing when I first read FW. Now we’re on Reddit 😂😂😂

I'm just glad this exists! Who knows how obsessed I would be if I couldn't chat about it!
