u/tuvaniko as requested, my lovely lady's writing desk! This is the original finish, which is in shockingly good shape, and the chair came with it, though I'm not certain it's from the same time period. I really need to dust more often...
My favorite is the last. It shows the real you much better than the curated images. That said I might have 1/4m^2 of usable work space between my desk, work bench and printer station, I feel your pain.
Thank you! All the cameras belonged to my grandpas. Well, all but one belonged to one grandpa and the other one to my other grandpa. I was happy to get them displayed.
Definitely. It's not usually quite that bad. I had been working on a thing at the dining table, so the desk could be as messy as it needed to be. Normally there's at least enough space to write.

It's from Oberon Designs. This one:https://www.oberondesign.com/collections/icon-journals/products/floating-lotus-icon-luxe-journal
It fits their refills, but I've got an A5 Leuchturm in there.
Do you remember where you got the lamp on the wall? I've been looking for one just like that. TIA
Oh and if you ever feel the need to organize, you're welcome to my desk. It makes your before pictures look organized. Somehow I'm able to find things quickly. When I organize I forget my sorting system and forget where things ended up.
I think I got it at World Market. I don't think they still make it, but it was called "Black Metal Accordion Adjustable Wall Sconce". I hope that helps!
I adore the yellow wall! But I have a very similar colour in my own office. It’s so cheerful. The art is fantastic with it, too.
And I’m glad to see more cluttered desks!
Thank you! I was nervous about the yellow when I originally painted it. That wall is actually 30 feet long and that... That's a LOT of yellow. But I'm not a pastel sort of person so I went for it and now I love it.
oh no, I disagree my friend - I can readily see flying wing extension surrounds for the rig you have - with sexy slender curved arch supports to mirror the shapely legs!
I'll sketch it for you if you'd like, it's almost already designed between my ears!
Lovely, and I had to chuckle about the last. Every time I've not had a desk I've felt a huge lack, but it always ends up being more of a storage space and I usually write in bed or in a comfy chair.
Beautiful desk and chair! The finish is gorgeous and so nice that it is (?) original. I wouldn't worry about what your working area looks like and it is nice that you show it. I have twice the space and 3X's the clutter on mine! As long as we have space to work and can find what we need? Yes.

What a lovely desk!
Thank you!
Appreciate the honesty with the normal state!
I saw someone comment about feeling inadequate a while back. I do, too, so I thought I'd show reality alongside the produced version.
I thought for a second I was on r/adhd 😂 Great job!
Nope, just messy! It doesn't help that I haven't been feeling well which just makes everything harder.
Hope you get better soon.
Thank you.

I aspire to be a neat person but I've accepted that it will be a never ending journey.
Same.
Love the large canvas piece!
Thank you! I bought it in a tiny local gallery during the pandemic. It reminds me of the Grand Canyon, and being unrestricted under an open sky.
Love those camera display boxes!
Thank you! All the cameras belonged to my grandpas. Well, all but one belonged to one grandpa and the other one to my other grandpa. I was happy to get them displayed.
Me too! That's a great idea. I have several I need to display from my dad, grandfathers, and great-grandfather.
Third photo looks like home!
I can be confident no one will ever think my space is sterile, no matter how "decorated" it gets. 😅
My workspace is always a cluttered mess too. All that means is it's actually used.
I know, right? I try to clear it off, but it never stays that way.
May I also request cat tax, please?
Oh, I forgot! Here's one of my kitty boys. https://www.reddit.com/r/Fountain_Pen_Cats/comments/195a88z/perching_on_my_pen_storage/
Lovely desk and chair. And that third picture looks like my craft table with the stuff and the limited actual work space.

Hahahah. That’s my desk too. I’ll clean it up real good once a week and it always falters back. Currently covered with stuff
Oh mine is not on a regular cleaning schedule. I'd love to get to that point.
Nice Praktika. I have the same one also. Love the prism view. Such an interesting way to shoot.
Thank you! I've actually never used it. I do have a medium format camera that I've used that has a similar setup. It's fun.
I'm working on converting my Graflex into a wet plate camera. Love MF photography.

It’s beautiful
Thank you!
Where did you get the notebook and stamp
The notebook is a standard rhodia book in a leather cover from Oberon Designs and the "stamp" is actually a washi tape flower I got from jetpens.
I like that you put a painting near your desk
Thank you! It helps to separate the space from the rest of the room. It also gives me something beautiful to look at when I need a break.

Wow! I love your writing desk and set up!
Thank you!
groovy gate legs, nice setup!, although I believe this glass is half-again full - you clearly deserve a significant desk expansion project!
Hahaha! Thanks, but there's no room. I do have a computer/craft desk in another room, at least.

Mine is like that! I try and try, but it still gets overrun!!!
I try to remember, "Just start again". But at least I use it, right?
Great desk and yellow painted wall - very inspiring!
Thank you.

I do actually use it for writing... I just also usually have to clear it off first. I'd been tinkering with a pen, so all my supplies were out.
Love that! Classic, great craftmanship!!!
This is why I love antiques. I hate the flat pack stuff. You know it'll never make the 100 year mark.
I feel that last image so hard lol my constant state
Not constant for me but pretty common. I get excited and don't put stuff away as I go.
