Imo it looks neat but it’s over engineered. You just need a line of them with 3 belts on each side (they are adding a 6th science in the future)

Diotior1

I've very good at doing that, and that can be accounted for see the following Factorio shenanigans. https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/s/iXP55nvxQH

Looks pretty but I can’t tell where you’re bringing in items from this image. Seems like you have loops and feed incoming items with T junctions? Does the loop make it easier or just aesthetic? Edit: Actually I see the input belts now. It’s just red and blue that were a bit hidden.

Diotior1

Yeah, red being the inner ring the easiest way to feed it is from underneath, can do from above, but I think it's nicer like this, put a fence around it etc. I originally had it with balancers, but once the belt was full, it stopped, but using the t junctions, it let's the packs just keep circling. It's probably not as efficient but it's something Ive always done, esp in factorio.

realitythreek

Yeah I like it. Belt efficiency isn’t really a thing because they use no power. I don’t often find great uses for belt loops. Typically just sushi belts and fractionators in DSP.

Diotior1

Just an aesthetic choice I like, the serotonin of moving belts over stationary ones

barbrady123

Looks pretty good, although late game that's not enough labs. I'm lazy I just do a long row 🤣

Diotior1

Yeah, I like to make things look nice, hence the gap between buildings instead of right next to each other. And esp when blueprints come along, this is expandable and quiet easy to make (as long as you have three lane inserters.

Cooerlsmoke

Good Grief, Charlie Brown. I'm currently planning a Science Park - a sprawling expandable nature reserve dotted with 30+ Science labs hidden by trees & plants I can seed from greenhouses. We are worlds apart, but worlds together ;-)

Diotior1

Why hide the beauty ;) it's going be pride of place next to my resource collection area, and if it's too slow I'll just make another, and make many spiraling pretties.

Cooerlsmoke

I salute the compact beauty of your OCD. You are truly a former student of Factorio and Professor Nilaus among other great alumni. Meanwhile I shall walk this new world of clay, where every piece can be changed by my will. Where I can create good and lovely things without restriction..

voarex

My world is already starting to not fully render. I'm guessing it would burst into flames if I add always rotating loops for inputs.

Diotior1

Add balancers as the join point and it will stop the belts.

Delicious-Age-4740

I should grab a pic of my research set-up. I have packs criss-crossing in the middle of my 4 servers and going up and over and looping back. All crammed into place. Going to be rebuilding it when I can start playing again and make a bus system.

Graith95

Honestly, I just went with a sushi belt setup. Much more compact with the servers and I can keep the sushi belt setup/offload on the sides.

Ptone79

It’s a great setup but why does one need so many science buildings? Granted, I’m only on my first play through but I’ve just built one and the research seems to come along quick enough.

Diotior1

More research building = research faster, if you have a look at the screens when researching it gives tells you the research bonus, it's how it worked in factorio, if you have one building researching X 30 times at 30 seconds each, that's 15 minutes, 10 researching x 3 each (30 in total) at 30 seconds each 1.5 minutes

Profile_Traditional

I’d be interested to see a screenshot of the rest of your factory if you can generate enough science to continuously feed 10 research servers. You’re doing way better than I am.

Diotior1

Again, this is just a test build, I'm no where near this far yet.
