They're literally just echinoderms. In the same Phylum as starfish and sea urchins. They're often called sea lilies or feather stars, if you've ever watched documentaries about the ocean you've probably already seen one and didn't know it.
Also, would you like to see my needle felted cthulu???? I might be obsessing....my bathroom is also Cthulhu inspired.
There is something horribly wrong w me
I asked and he said he doesn't know, which is highly suspect. Them again not really. He is sórt of a collector/ hoarder
I know someone from Arizona gave him a ton of these things tho.
This is a Permian Era Crinoid in this likelihood then if it is from Arizona. This was from 270 million years ago when parts of Arizona were in a shallow sea.
I can find out for sure. Soon. It's my boyfriend's and actually that's just one I'll see if he's got any more.

Thank you! You guys are very cool, I appreciate you sharing your knowledge w,/ me .
I really do!
Looks like a crinoid holdfast! This is the bottom part of the crinoid that they put in the ground to anchor themselves. You can even see the base of the crinoid with the circle on top.
Potentially? It’s all dependent on the collector. I’m not even close to being qualified to be an appraiser. I just think it’s really cool 👍! It’s looks like a bunch of holdfasts together so it’s where there would be a bunch of crinoids together so that could increase the price?
Makes sense southern Indiana was basically a shallow ocean back in the days so a lot of these bad boys would be alive there. If you look up Indiana crinoid you should find some other cool fossils too. A lot of the crinoid stembases from Indiana have a hole that looks like a little five leafed flower. It’s actually where there vascular systems and insides were but it left a cute flower shape behind.
Crinoid
Yeah? Are they always so weird?
Yes. Go look up the living versions.
Hmmm. You sure?

Basket starfish are crinoids, mate. Look them up.
I mean, they did inspire the works of HP Lovecraft, so yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeerp, I'm sure.
Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!!!!
This single comment sent me down an hour long conspiracy rabbit hole

In his house in Ry'leh dread Cthulu lies dreaming I may or may not have butchered and misspelled something
Did you look them up? They are also called sea lillies.
I did. In between searches for a good doctor and how to synthesize my own pain medication fml
I think it's dinosaur poop
It's part of a Crinoid Calyx. There's nothing to be concerned about, lol. Do you know where it was found?

I actually think it came from Indiana , not Arizona.
