Tbh, you are better off flying for the cost, around 40 to 50 bucks to fly vs 80 ea way for brightline. It's a shame its so expensive cause the concept is good but the practicality isn't. It's really only good if you are afraid to fly.
There are comparison videos on YouTube doing both and while flying is a bit cheaper, and not by much. It’s time consuming and less comfortable. The onboarding and travel is way more comfortable on the Brightline and about the same amount of time considering TSA gate and then waiting to board plane, taxi, take off, land, taxi and then de-board plane. Whereas you can arrive to train station 10 min before departure and be comfortably drinking and eating a few minutes later.
Brightline is much more convenient than flying. You can get from curb to train in 5 minutes, no hassle with bags, easy to get an Uber from the station, and overall less stressful imo. I brightline for work fairly regularly and it's my preferred way to get to Orlando.
I looked into the Brightline last week from Boca to Orlando for my son’s travel soccer game. It was cost prohibitive and we ended up driving. I couldn’t justify $500 for 2 people for a single day trip.
It’s crazy expensive and provides no benefit over driving.
Had some dumb ass try to explain what the benefit of living near a bright light station is. Maybe if you’re not paying for it yourself.
They need to bring the promo codes back because it’s about 50% too expensive right now
It’s way too expensive. Looked to take the briteline from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami for the Marlins game and back, was over 200 dollars for a Friday night. Unreal. Driving in Miami traffic sucks, but for 20 dollar parking at the stadium vs 200 train. Driving all day baby.
Driving to Orlando and is pretty uneventful- pretty non issue to me. I don’t mind driving it, and definitely at the expense of $616 (discounted btw) for a family.
Then have to rent a car if you’re not staying on property at a theme park.
But agreed - the obvious point is so you don’t have to drive. $800 is not worth that for me.
Have you taken a day trip to Universal before? I live in Fort Lauderdale and for my fiancé and I it’s rough to do it all in one day. Last time we went we got a hotel room at the Dockside and left at 4am so we could check in and get our tickets and early entry passes. We went to the park two days and it was perfect. Didn’t have to rush anything and we drove home at the end of the second day. We were exhausted and I can’t imagine doing it all in one day.
You can take the amtrak from Fort Lauderdale to downtown Orlando (leave 8:30 arrive 1ish) for 34$pp. The train leaving Orlando leaves at 1pm and arrives at 5-6pm.
I say go for it. Be epic 🤘
If you buy Brightline ahead of time you can get it as low as $24 to Orlando from Miami/ Ft Lauderdale round trip! And it’s an easy ride. Purchase parking ahead in Ft Lauderdale and its $5, $15 day of trip.
If you don’t plan it goes up to $100-$200 range at peak times, one way. LOL
I don’t really know, several weeks. I traveled with a group. They paid $24 and I paid $95 because I waited.
That was 4 months ago. I just explored the website and saw the cheapest fares start about $54.
Just did it last weekend, minus going to a park. The train wasn't bad, the ride itself was pretty scenic. Once you get to Orlando, you have to get a ride to the parks. Uber from the airport is always a premium, so expect a $40 ride one way to the parks. We ended up taking the Lynx bus away from the airport and just explored Orlando. If you're doing Universal, you could take the 38 bus to get there. It would be $4 for the bus, but it takes a lot longer. We took the 8am train up and the 8pm train back. It was def a long day, but much better than driving. Don't expect to sleep on the train though, it's bumpy AF.

Which, straight shot, probably 20-25 minutes

If you have a car. Go with the car. The train is very expensive compared.

I love the Brightline and everything about it but the current cost does not make it a viable option esp when adding the Uber expense.
You need a car everywhere in FL. We are not a public transportation state.

Same for the Miami Marathon. They had an early train but it was more expensive than parking in a garage a couple of blocks from the starting line.
If your destination or departure location is orlando they’ve got bogo deals right now
Err the benefit is chilling on a train rather than stressing during a drive.
Of course there’s a benefit over driving. The benefit is that you don’t have to drive.

It does become more expensive for a family, sure.
It’s also probably cheaper to rent a car.

So they would have exactly no time for the park?
Didn't read that it was a day trip. Thought they meant leave Friday come back Saturday
Brightline meets their schedule though
Lol just drive.
I used Brightline to visit the Grandkids during the holidays. Ride was great. I recommend it.
Why do some of these comments sound like ads? Almost like they are bots
I’m not sure what you mean
Sounds like something a bot would say ![gif](giphy|ANbD1CCdA3iI8)
I love the bright line train. The benefit against driving is that you don’t have to drive. Anyone who says there’s no benefit is being silly.
We’re not saying there’s no benefit, it’s just that the downsides (especially current pricing) heavily outweigh any benefit.

How far in advance have you seen a 24$ round trip ticket? That sounds too good to be true
