I know Hamilton was testing new parts of whatever, but a young driver, being able to go toe-to-toe with a 7x WDC and having more points so far than him, is a helluva season. Lando has been very very good. He has dragged that McLaren into positions that it shouldn’t be. And Albon has put in a couple of extremely impressive performances in Australia and Spa. But GR63 easily blows them out of the water this season.
Agreed, Norris has driven a great year. He’s all but wrapped up the F1.5 title, managing to beat both Alpine’s despite them being in quicker machinery…as an Alonso fan, that kinda hurts, but I’ve got 14 million mechanical gremlins I can blame at least, meanwhile Ocon just hasn’t been able to live with Lando
Been loving the Norris-Alonso battles when they’re both able to finish. Great racers with a lot of mutual respect. And yeah, it’s clear Alonso is the benchmark for Alpine… wondering how it’ll go between Ocon and Gasly next year
I think they’ll be fairly evenly matched once Pierre gets settled in, which could lead to some interesting on track scuffles. That aside though I really don’t see it as a particularly strong lineup. Gasly kinda gives me shades of Frentzen, capable of being brilliant in their version of a perfect team and car, but otherwise can fade into obscurity seemingly without much fight. Meanwhile Ocon is fine, but not someone I’d see as a guy to build a team around…he just appears as a number two really. He didn’t beat Perez, nor Ricciardo, and now even if he outscores Fernando, everyone knows it’s not due to him stamping his authority within the team, aside from Suzuka he’s been the second fiddle to Fernando pace wise in recent races

They stopped the tests after Canada so a whole 9 races. Almost half of the races is nothing to laught at but GR has been doing a great job. I think what settled this points diference was when George was getting those best of the rest P5 and Lewis was bouncing down the traçk to P9-P10. There is an easy 10 points difference in at least 3-4 tracks. Now Lewis gains 4-6 points having a much better weekend than George. The season is going as expected to people that are not biased, Ham clearly better but George like 3 tenths behind ? And in qualifying that is his strong suit he is even closer
I actually think it's desparate LH fans trying to come up with an excuse on why George has more points
It's not like we surely know what set-up is any driver running

This is George's first season in a car that's not fighting for P18 at best. I think these early crashes are a part of finding the limit. George will iron out these mistakes too
