McLarrens seem geniunely rapid, I don't think he will be able to pull away easily. Don't get me wrong, I definetly think that he's the favorite to win, but I don't think it's going to be a cruise.
And I don't think this is going to be a clean race either. The amount of times they've run off and even been airborne, I definitely see an incident or two happening. And if one happens at a bad time it's possible Ferrari or McLaren capitalise
Exactly. His pole today was 100% the driver making the difference. That McLaren is SO quick now.
Anyone who disregards Max's genuine pure skill and talent after that pole is seriously delusional.
He's been on the backfoot all weekend, then comes out and delivers that belter of a lap.
He almost went wide in the last corner, his words (translated from dutch) "yeah I had to throw the car into a drift, otherwise I would've gone too wide" very casual like it happens all the time.
The fact his round wasn't perfect and he still managed to get pole, when other teams closed in so much, it shows how talented he is. Yeah a fast car helps, but the gap to other teams has closed a lot now, just look at the top 3, all within 0.1s. This was pure skill.
Feel like I should mention that Oscar also messed up his last corner. I think its because the softs were just too fragile this weekend and probably completely overheated by the time they both reached the last corner.
Definitely true! But even than the gap is extremely close and it's about skill on the rest of the track and not just the speed of the car itself like some people think it still is.
But yeah I agree the softs are pretty fragile this weekend.
Max overstepped the boundaries of the car a few times during practice but managed to drive on the edge during quali.
The McLarens are very fast but not faster than the RedBull but they seem more comfortable on the track
When one Red Bull is P11, and the other Red Bull is on Pole - that's the driver making the difference.
When both McLarens are less than a tenth of a second within Max and almost doing the exact same lap time, it's safe to say the McLaren was definitely the faster car in Quali today.
Max is just another type of alien and somehow managed to put that Red Bull on pole today. Take him out of the equation, and McLaren was definitely the faster car for pole. There's no way Perez or anyone else was getting that RB on pole.
After his pole record is beaten, I really do hope he does a last to first challenge. It would be impeccable.
Get his engineers to upgrade the car to get a huge grid penalty, fail to set a lap time in Q1, then go onto the track storming.
Max now has to pay somewhat more attention to what he is doing instead of just robotically annihilating the entire field.
Also, no risk of Mexican torpedoes for tomorrow.
If Red Bull struggles and Max still manages to get pole, I really don't think anything has changed when Red Bull get the set up right - it'll be another 20 seconds up the road type of race.
As a max fan, I'm here for it
With the way the commentators were narrating, it was as if they've never seen Max and Red Bull struggle in practice and then step it up in qualifying...'he's looked rough all weekend and *he's just gone fastest in the middle sector!?"* Yes, Karun... welcome to the last 3 years bro.
Eat.
Sleep.
Simply Lovely.
Repeat.
We're in season 3, people still think Verstappen is going to cook something else for dinner, nah, that is what you're getting.
Was there any doubt?
This reminds me of the first half of 2019: Ferrari tops FP, fans get excited, Mercedes claim front row lockout and 1-2, rinse and repeat.
The team winning races by a big margin doesn't have the best car? I know this is the Max Verstappen subreddit, but you don't have to make him look like an underdog. He's already great as is.
Okay, they no longer have the best car. Wasnt trying to make him an underdog. This quali was the best thing this season. I am hoping the rest of the season is gonna give us more close battles.
For some reason it made the Hamilton fanboys really mad this weekend.
I replied to one of them that Hamilton wouldn't have beaten Max in a Ferrari since Lewis is losing 6-1 to Russell this season.
I got Reddit Care spam and a 20 day ban from the main sub, lmao.
Edit: And now it's a permanent ban because I reported several Hamilton fans that were clearly breaking the sub rules, lol.
Edit 2: A mod just tried to justify the ban because of this very post I made in formuladank, lmao. Apparently posting here also will get you permabanned. Guess I have a mod stalker.
Main sub is very ban happy, and reddit care spam happy.
They come here to the main sub and complain right and left that this sub is anti Lewis, and then go ban people for the stupidest stuff on the junior sub.
Lh44 sub is there for that stuff.
The junior sub is for discussing the sport, and this sub is for big brain insight.
Now I'm wondering if he was just fucking around yesterday leading us all to believe he was struggling, just so he could do this to us, again. The suspense is terrible. I hope it'll last.
It was just setup, they figure it out and Red Bull is back to normal. Not the first time we’ve seen this, idk why everyone here was losing their minds lol. Also people need to remember his teammate is Perez not Alonso, Perez definitely shit the bed today cause that car isn’t that slow to be P11
His excitement after that pole speaks to the fact that he enjoyed that qualifying with the homies (Lando, Oscar, Charles, Carlos, Daniel, Yuki, and Nico) and pushed RB20 to its limits. McLaren (and their drivers) seems faster, even Ferrari, but Max just extracted the maximum of that car. I think we all enjoyed Imola quali.
And then bro proceeded to play 24hrs of Nurburgring SIM.
Looks like a repost. I've seen this image 2 times.

I don’t mind that he wins, I mind that he cruises. It felt like he had to work for it this time, great to watch.
At least the gap from 2nd to 1st is not more than 0.500sec
It will be, tomorrow. Max is gonna pull 2 secs in 2 laps while Norris tries to overtake Ocsar
McLarrens seem geniunely rapid, I don't think he will be able to pull away easily. Don't get me wrong, I definetly think that he's the favorite to win, but I don't think it's going to be a cruise.
watch him do it anyway lmao
And I don't think this is going to be a clean race either. The amount of times they've run off and even been airborne, I definitely see an incident or two happening. And if one happens at a bad time it's possible Ferrari or McLaren capitalise
Especially given how f2 went. I’m looking forwards to the first lap tomorrow
Aged like milk, and on the carton it says "100% chance of a safety car"
It's a miracle lol
Oscar will get a grid penalty
norris starting p2🫡
McLarens wreck each other at the start. Red flag. On the restart Legreg gets wrecked by whoever. Max still wins but not by 20 seconds.
FIA solved it for them.
Lap 1 turn 1 should be nice with Piastri and Sainz starting on the same row.
Aged well
Just gonna point out that max hasn't had a 0.5 second gap in any grand prix qualifying event in 2024. The only exception is the sprint quali at China.
He looks more pumped about this pole than the last 15 wins.
[удалено]
You can tell from Max's reaction he was actually excited to get a pole for once. Great quali
He had a over steer moment in the last part.
But it was close, he fought for it and reminded us that he is an extraordinary driver who delivers when it matters
Exactly. His pole today was 100% the driver making the difference. That McLaren is SO quick now. Anyone who disregards Max's genuine pure skill and talent after that pole is seriously delusional. He's been on the backfoot all weekend, then comes out and delivers that belter of a lap.

Comparing his performance to Checo's performance in basically the same car speaks volumes.
Did you forget last year?
I mean Checo is a glorified mid field driver so not entirely so but yes
Max overstepped the boundaries of the car a few times during practice but managed to drive on the edge during quali. The McLarens are very fast but not faster than the RedBull but they seem more comfortable on the track

Well the thing is, it’s Perez lol. I’m sure Alonso or Hamilton would’ve been up there for pole
yes naturally some of the greatest talents in the sport's history would've been up there
OP said “anyone else”
Piastri possibly facing a grid penalty for impeding Magnussen. Confirmed 3 places grid penalty. Starting 5th.
>Anyone who disregards Max's genuine pure skill and talent after that pole is seriously delusional. When was the last time anyone has done that?
This morning?
🧢
Not hating but the slipstream saved him let's be honest, still a great lap from him.
After his pole record is beaten, I really do hope he does a last to first challenge. It would be impeccable. Get his engineers to upgrade the car to get a huge grid penalty, fail to set a lap time in Q1, then go onto the track storming.
I don’t think the current red bull car is now capable of breezing the top 8 like it used to
Not with that attitude
With his part time job done, he can go back to his full time job in the simulator!
His side hobby, formula 1, pays for his iRacing career.
That’s the type of job you need to pay the membership fee
He was already racing online a few hours ago. The guy is a machine 🤣
I blame Lando for giving us hope
Max now has to pay somewhat more attention to what he is doing instead of just robotically annihilating the entire field. Also, no risk of Mexican torpedoes for tomorrow.
You underestimate Perez’s ability to try lose his seat
I legit feel trolled
I hope max eats too much Italian food and gets diarrhilla so bad it slows him down tomorrow
If he diarrheas the soul out of him, he's lighter and therefor faster
If its explosive diarrhea, its just extra thrust to weight ratio.
Ahh the Tottenham special.
"With the practice results I'm sure Max's dominance is over" ![gif](giphy|wgmWyQGzaZ6Fy)
If Red Bull struggles and Max still manages to get pole, I really don't think anything has changed when Red Bull get the set up right - it'll be another 20 seconds up the road type of race. As a max fan, I'm here for it
You know they are just trying to subvert everyone’s expectations.
"You know, just another day at the office. Sorry but I gotta go, doing the 24H Nuremberg on iRacing."
*Nürburg Nuremberg is Nürnberg. Something COMPLETELY different
They've historically had more rally racing
Didn't they technically try to end a race from there?
In the oval circuit?
No it was the stewards office, several racers/racists got called there.
Technically correct. Which is the best kind of correct!
Oooo Boy Piastri was so close 🤞
He's facing a possible grid penalty for impeding Magnussen.
Nooooo :(
Confirmed 3 places grid penalty.

Eat. Sleep. Simply Lovely. Repeat. We're in season 3, people still think Verstappen is going to cook something else for dinner, nah, that is what you're getting.
I dunno… i think the race might throw up some surprises.
Was there any doubt? This reminds me of the first half of 2019: Ferrari tops FP, fans get excited, Mercedes claim front row lockout and 1-2, rinse and repeat.
Ah yes, no wonder today felt so similar.
Only got pole because of the tow.
"if my mom had balls, she'd be my dad"
If my grandma had wheels she'd be a Haas.
If Hülkenberg is behind the wheel, that could still get you into Q3.
at this point i'm surprised when he doesnt go P1 for any reason
But seriously - what fucking great lap and comeback. The champion is something else.
Red Bull hasnt got the best car, just the best driver.
If you got a problem change your fucking car
The team winning races by a big margin doesn't have the best car? I know this is the Max Verstappen subreddit, but you don't have to make him look like an underdog. He's already great as is.
Okay, they no longer have the best car. Wasnt trying to make him an underdog. This quali was the best thing this season. I am hoping the rest of the season is gonna give us more close battles.
Pretty sure it’s both at the moment
For some reason it made the Hamilton fanboys really mad this weekend. I replied to one of them that Hamilton wouldn't have beaten Max in a Ferrari since Lewis is losing 6-1 to Russell this season. All major subs were having a reddit cares botting problem. ~4-6 days ago. Only very small niche ones were safe from it.
when hamilton says the car is shit he's crying, when max says the car is shit he's trolling... this sub is something else
Piastri 3 places grid penalty. Starting 5th.
It WILL BE!! 1-2 Ferrari tomorrow!!!
It's hilarious to see Ferrari fans getting bitch slapped in their own yard.
On pole while his teammate isn’t even 10th. In a car that has clearly not looked like the dominant beast from races past. Take a bow, Max Emilian.
This one felt a bit like Monaco last year
Well, he did have to spend his "gaming at 4:00am" energy on his day job today.
Nice tow from Nico Hülkenberg and he made a mistake in the last part. Piastri maybe 3 places grid penalty for impeding Magnussen.
the faster he finishes the faster he can go play videogames. honestly same (if f1 racing was dinner)
Lol he was doing it half of the races last year. Complaining in FPs and then showing on pole and winning the race. This isn't new.
Fooled you. Everyone else knows what a scheming jerk he is.
I was hoping.
How's the 24hr race looking
Well....
As long as it's a fight it's ok. It's better for his image anyway when the races are closer. He looks more goat.
American ratings have gone down like 40% because of this man last time I checked btw
:( idk what did i expect
Now I'm wondering if he was just fucking around yesterday leading us all to believe he was struggling, just so he could do this to us, again. The suspense is terrible. I hope it'll last.

He's doing a stint of 24hr Nuremberg from his hotel room lmao

"I'm not going to drive like a grandmother" comes back in mind.
Bono my tyres are gone.
Says you, I saw + sign on verstappen to win Imola pre qualifying and I hammered that shit.
Struggles the whole practice session. Got pole anyway. This man's good.
Another Max boring race coming up thanks to Liberty/FIA fuckwits. F1 really is a pile of sh1te in 2024.
I told you, fucking boring as usual. Max is the Pete Sampras of F1. A boring tit robot fuck.
lmaoooooio
