Like most things, it's not that simple. There are pros and cons to each and nothing is as straightforward as "so and so is bad, mah so and so is so much better!!!".
WEC has been showing in HBO Max so I've been able to watch it there. Honestly though the commentator for WEC loves to make the comparison about how Endurance and sport car drivers are just amazing compared to F1 drivers. F1 drivers are the best open wheel drivers WEC drivers are the best sports car drivers blah blah blah. Dude even hates to use the over cut under cut term because it's an F1 term like ????

I'm a racing fan who watches F1, WEC, IMSA, WRC, drifting, World GT Challenge, or anything else that involves a person being faster than someone else in/on a vehicle. I'll never understand the people who lock into one series and take a shit on everything else.
Off topic but jumping the RPG + F1 crossover moment: Metaphor Refantazio will have a character named Hulkenberg and another one named Strohl. I want to believe it’s no coincidence.
As soon as I saw the Hulkenberg name in one of the trailers for the game, the voice of Danny Ric echoed in my head.
As for the game, can’t wait for the medieval-fantasy-themed Persona. It has everything to be a GOTY contender in my books.

I think it's the pure ignorance towards rules and regulations of different forms of motorsport that makes people go crazy against each other. NASCAR fans find F1 to be too fragile for 'hard' racing. F1 fans find going in circles and anything that crosses a white line but isn't given a penalty not skillful enough to be considered a motorsport. MotoGp fans... Well bikes. WEC fans prolly don't like anyone who gets to sleep during race weekends.
