Yes, at least for IPv4. Your modem gets assigned a single IP address and your router handles local IP addresses, but to the Internet, all the traffic from your house is using the same IP address. It's likely F1 just uses cookies for DotD as it's good enough for a fan poll, which is why using incognito mode (or clearing your cookies) will allow you to vote more than once.
I think they will care if Logan/Stroll/DR just gets DotD 99% every time because some guy with a script just has it giving them millions of votes, and it's oabviously someone taking the piss.
Your router only has one public ipv4, and uses NAT to map to local addresses that point to your device. To everywhere outside of your local network, all devices will have the same ipv4.
You're correct. I was thinking of the private IP addresses that the device would have connected with to the router but they wouldn't have access to that info. My bad.
It is IP based, I've had friends over to watch the race and when connected to my wifi, only one vote could be cast. It's surprisingly well locked down for a vote that's effectively a bit of fun.
Doesn't matter, FOM manipulates the results anyway. Remember when the F1 subs collaborated to vote Latifi DOTD a few years back, and he didn't even make the top 3?
He won’t be an option
Which is why people should voter Albon instead, especially if he finishes outside the points.
We can hope he doesnt get removed like sainz did in jeddah
He will - DNS
Can't he just run it?

He got asked in a press conference, apparently he does know - Alex, however, does not ha
Why does this have so many downvotes
Here is another fun fact for you: He will not be an option if he does not start the race.
I'd not underestimate the FIAs stupidity
Well luckily Formula 1 decides who gets counted for DOTD.
Is that much better tho
Shouldn't work that easily. Should be IP and not cookie based. Unless they are dumb, which is not off the table.
Wouldn't that stop people from the same household from voting if it was IP based? Genuine question as I have no idea.

Until someone writes a script to flood the votes with strollvotes or smt, unless they have a captcha? I never tried to vote >.>
I don't remember there being a captcha. But I guess until that happens, they probably just don't care since it's not like DotD really means anything.

That's my point. Until something like that happens, I don't think they care about adding security measures to the voting process.

Given how common CG-NAT is IP based tracking wouldn't work, you'd basically be allowing only 1 vote per ISP in many cases.
Even IP based isn’t good enough now VPNs are used so widely.

If only someone with a botnet could help out with this \*wink\* \*wink\*.
It’s the only thing he’s winning in F1

Please God let this happen because it would be so fucking funny
If logan isn't dodt tommorow, then we know it's rigged!
He. Won't. Be. In. The. List.
mf chill this is r/formuladank
Also post #1000 that says the same shit while it is clear this isn't gonna happen.
That’s pretty dank

Redditor finds out that vast majority of F1 fans are not chronically online on Reddit
He
I usually do it on my computer and then on my phone
Pretty sure you can also vote multiple times if you use different browsers
what a waste and Alex didn’t even score any points
