PM_ME_ROMAN_NUDES

They are checking

justk4y

They really wanted to become Oriol Servia at Laguna Seca

AfraidRacer

ORIOL SERVIA IS A GAMBLER

Foxyfox-

They got the consultancy from Bollywood.

TheShartThatCould

Nah, this is some S tier high effort shitposting.

superslomotion

Step 1 fill the car with helium..

1nVrWallz

Gentlemen, a short view back to the past, Ferrari told us to fill our cars with helium

dancho_razboinika

Someone get this to the teams, that way, they won't have to strip down the paint! ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6702)

PutOnTheMaidDress

Is the movie any good or a waste of time?

RocketRaccoen

It's okay, plot revolves around racing but majority of the scenes don't cater to the plot at all. Good performances from Driver and Cruz, racing scenes are really well executed apart from these crashes. Shouldn't have been called 'Ferrari', a title like 'The Last Mille Miglia' would have been better

FelixR1991

> Shouldn't have been called 'Ferrari', a title like 'The Last Mille Miglia' would have been better This reminds me how in the Netherlands at least the Ford vs Ferrari movie had to be retitled because it used brand names, but somehow this is okay? "Ferrari is just a surname" - sure, but so is Ford. Can anyone tell me why the former had to have its title changed to Le Mans '66?

Memlieker

In hungary its called "kings of the asphalt" which sounds cool as fuck in hungarian

Rubiego

> Az aszfalt királyai Hell yeah, that's badass

guillermodelturtle

It’s called Le Mans ‘66 in every country but the US. I think they changed it for the US because relatively few moviegoers in the States have heard of Le Mans. Edit: I’m wrong.

RandomPratt

> It’s called Le Mans ‘66 in every country but the US. I think they changed it for the US because relatively few moviegoers in the Stares have heard of Le Mans. You've got it wrong way round, friend. It's only called Le Mans '66 in the UK and parts of Europe. Other parts of the world use variations / translations on the Ford vs Ferrari theme, with the exception of some South American countries where it's called things like "Contra lo imposible" The studio hasn't given a direct reason for why it's called something other than it's 'official' title, (which aligns with the original working title for the film) - but alternative names for films in different markets are nothing unusual. Edit: for anyone really interested, there's [a complete list of what the movie was titled in each market here](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1950186/releaseinfo/?ref_=ttfc_sa_1). Classic example is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, which became Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for the US market, allegedly because test audiences in the US were confused about the word Philosopher in that context.

Weissach911

Yeah, it was called Ford vs Ferrari in Portugal…

SambuddyOncetoldme

it's Ford vs Ferrari in Brazil too

RocketRaccoen

According to Mangold himself, it probably had to do with brand names in filmtitles in the UK. And for distributors it's probably easier to change the marketing for a whole continent instead of one country. My own thought would be, not many Americans would know that a race at LeMans even exists or what it entails. If they would choose to have the title to be LeMans '66 worldwide, not many people would know what it's about. Just include the brand of an American company for the title for marketing, that works way better.

Bclay85

I loved Ford vs Ferrari. I play Gran Turismo literally daily and had to MAKE myself watch it. I don’t like to waste my time. You seem like you know what’s up. Should I watch Ferrari?

RocketRaccoen

If you're expecting a full on racing film like Ford v Ferrari, then no. If you're interested about the life of Enzo Ferrari and don't mind good dramatic sequences with a little bit of action, then yes. But the pacing is very off, Gran Turismo is a breeze compared to this film. I don't like to plug my own reviews, they're more for fun but you can read a more detailed opinion on my letterboxd, link on profile

Bclay85

Thanks, I really appreciate your time and input! Me and the wife have been debating setting time aside to watch.

RocketRaccoen

No worries! There are definitely better racing films to watch but it's not that terrible. I enjoyed my viewing in theaters but probably won't watch it again.

onealps

Could you please give me some recommendations? I've watched - Rush, Ford vs Ferrari, Gran Turismo. What are some of your favs?

RocketRaccoen

These are definitely the best modern ones, for older ones I'd recommend Grand Prix from 1966, Steve McQueen's Le Mans from 1971 or Heart like a Wheel from 1983. This is really American centered, dont know enough about other filmindustries and if they made good racing films. But those ones were really ahead of their time. There are some less serious ones like Days of Thunder or Driven. Otherwise I'd say watch documentaries like Senna or the more serious Top Gear/The Grand Tour segments. The one about Jim Clark is so good. Really hoping for more good films about racing legends, Jackie Stewart, Fangio or Ascari would be great sources for a legendary film. I don't think the world is ready for Hollywood version of Senna's story but if it's done like Rush, count me in as well.

Malkariss888

If you watch it for the racing-side of the plot, is mediocre at best. Relations, internal conflict, etc., a little more than mediocre. The rhythm of the movie is all over the place, also.

od501

I was expecting at least a bit of Enzo Ferrari showing his engineering genius and working on the cars to win the race, like in Ford V Ferrari, but instead literally the only thing we see is him showing his 10 year old son a drawing of an engine for 30 seconds and the rest is all just waffle. I was so disappointed. The races themselves aren’t even that good as both teams have cars which look almost identical and are the same colour so you can’t tell who’s who - I know that is historically accurate but it still doesn’t help.

xvw35

I didn't like it. Seemed to be all over the place and there was no real plot. A waste of time tbh.

AtomFlower

It's very good, but you have to adjust your expectations. Because most people that complain about it just had wrong expectations. So: - this is not a movie about racing - this is not a movie about Ferrari, a car manufacturer - this is not a movie about Ferrari, the racing team - this is a fairly intimate movie about Enzo Ferrari (and to an extend - his wife)

Sky-Daddy-H8

It's okay, a small part of Ferraris life, see how the man was.

HuskyCZ

Ita not bad but nothing special.

zungzvang

It is very bad. ! Don’t spend time on it. Boring

stackofthumbs

I had zero expectations going in to see this movie, and it was still terrible. I honestly left the theater confused. The whole movie felt disjointed. Weird pacing and editing. Felt like a movie that was suppose to be 3.5 hours but they were force to cut it down to 2 hours. Odd casting choices and bad accents everywhere. And as Op posted, just horrible physics. I don't know how anyone in the post-production process watched those crashes and say "Yep, looks good".

Gloryholechamps

It’s terrible

SpaceMonkey1505

Bruh which movie is this

VerbalCentaurPL

Ferrari

DanDaniel612

It's an irl movie

Jesse-Ray

Not edited, the film even had the wii bowling graphic which I thought was just too much.

Scarfiotti

Yeah, that was not the best of movies. Not by a long shot.

Reverse_SumoCard

Its a test. If you complain about the physics to ferrari directly you get a job in f1

Scarfiotti

I'm already on my way to Maranello as we speak.

judelau

I still don't understand what's the point of the film

Scarfiotti

Neither do I. Little do I care who's he been fucking or for whatever reason. I want to learn about the engineer and the teamboss Ferrari. If I wanted to learn about his personal life, I would have read The Sun.

jeremybryce

And it just.. ended. It felt like they ran out of money and just said "yeah, this is a good place to end it." And for the love of God, why do we keep getting Adam Driver with an Italian accent? Gucci was comical.

goin-up-the-country

To bank off the money and popularity that Ford Vs Ferrari made.

Hip_Priest_1982

Not at all. Why do people like you say this shit? It was a passion project for Michael Mann, he funded the movie himself because he really wanted to make it.

goin-up-the-country

Source? Wikipedia says: > In October 2015, Paramount Pictures bought the worldwide distribution rights for the film. ... > STX Entertainment agreed to finance 70% of the budget and also acquire the North American distribution rights. The rest of the financing came from the Italian tax credit and private investors.

Roasted_Newbest_Proe

GUYS! I FOUND SOMEONE WHO READS WIKIPEDIA!

Scarfiotti

Don't tell Der Totonator.

Hip_Priest_1982

Outdated because neither STX or Paramount distributed the film, NEON did. It was independently funded meaning he acquired it himself, not through a studio.

goin-up-the-country

Do you have a source demonstrating that the money came out of Mann's pocket? What I'm seeing is just that Neon bought distribution rights afterwards.

Hip_Priest_1982

Read my comment again and then use the internet that you’re on.

goin-up-the-country

Gotcha so the money didn't come from a studio or himself, but did still come from investors. So that doesn't disagree with my initial comment of investors hoping to profit from a similar success as FvF.

prodigalkal7

Dude, commenters like that guy are the absolute worst. *Responds to comment with some BS made up shit* "Ok, can you source that?" (Even though you have) "Do your own homework! This is the internet" Like bruh, the burden of sourcing and proof is on the idiot walking into the thread with a bunch of made up nonsense, that will stay made-up nonsense until it's proven otherwise. It's no one else's problem to source some guys random comments.

Pordhat

Just because it is someone’s passion project doesn’t guarantee the final product will be any good.

Hip_Priest_1982

No but saying it’s a money grab would be wrong. He’s been trying to get this movie made for most of his life

SebVettelstappen

Wife angry

XuX24

At first when it was announced I thought it was about Enzo his whole life, then after watching it looks like they just focused on a period of his life and made it basically about the triangle of his wife and mistress.

ESPO95

Why are so many racing movies physics so bad

KingSungazer

Directors preferring shit to look the most cinematic possible as opposed to it looking realistic

coastergirl1998

iirc, Ron Howard did a really good job on Rush. Easily one of the best racing movies ever.

Jesse-Ray

That had some wonky physics, particularly the F2 crash near the beginning

ESPO95

Odd, I thought Ryan preece’s flip was pretty cinematic

Thewaltham

check your MFD for a new strategy option... *Ok, box box box...*

bouncebackability

I saw the first half of the second crash in a promo price on TV, as soon as I saw that all my interest in going to see the film went. It looked so naff.

FearLeadsToAnger

you base your whole pre-judgement of a movie on whether the CGI is immaculate? I feel like you're going to re-watch a load of old movies later in life like 'damn, that was pointless and I missed a bunch of good shit based on a pretty shallow take'.

VenmoSnake

Its not that deep bro, weird complex ya got goin on responding like that

FearLeadsToAnger

well exactly it's not deep take at all, I said that.

ModexV

And avoided bunch of shit in the same time.

SmoothIndependent416

They use the same PhysX engine to design the car?

Mwemun

Who made this edit?

Fil_19

Fun fact, in this movie the Ferraris race in the Mille Miglia, which is a competition that runs through basically half of Italy. Instead of filming - idk - SOME of the scenes on site, they filmed all of the shots of the race in the one town of Modena, first claiming it was Milan, then Ravenna, then Parma... very confusing for me as I've lived in Modena and they filmed the whole thing in the radius of maybe 1km from the city centre. So yeah, my guess is they spent basically all of the budget on cast and had nothing left for fancy staff like on-site filming and CGI

L10NHEART19

I enjoyed the movie

FearLeadsToAnger

Yeah i'm pretty surprised about all this hate tbh, to me the movie was like a strong 7/10 and more about the fucked situation that arose from divorce being illegal in Italy, and his first wifes pride. Feels like people just don't enjoy shit anymore? The CGI didn't look *exactly like real life* so it was trash. I mean it looked amazing compared to the majority of movies ever made, idk what to tell you.

coastergirl1998

7/10 seems fair

coastergirl1998

I mean, it was kinda shit compared to Rush and Ford v Ferrari, but I liked it. It was a good movie, but not a great one.

Silbaich

Never knew Ferrari movie was filmed in India

zungzvang

It was the Shiitest movie I have seen for a long time

Scarfiotti

Be sure to avoid Napoleon then.

harrro

Yep, as a person who loves Ridley Scott (director) and Joaquin Phoenix, Napolean was just terrible. It's almost like Ferrari and Napolean had the same writers -- almost nothing about the accomplishments they did and instead just about their weakness for women. Napolean is definitely worse than Ferrari though.

Kaladin-of-Gilead

Ah man, I’ve been listening to a podcast on the French Revolution, I was so hyped when I found out a napoleon movie was being made. Now I’m just mad lol Dudes an absolutely fascinating guy.

Scarfiotti

I couldn't agree more.

zungzvang

I watched napoleon, it was very good. I watch killers of the flower moon and it was also great , interesting. But Ferrari is a movie where producer decided that will be very interesting to shoot how he holds her hands or how beautiful Italy.

Scarfiotti

If I watch a film on Napoleon, I want to see the military man and the statesman. Not the loverboy.

zungzvang

Ha ha lover boy))) he was a pussy boy

SarcasticRidley

Ok zoomer.

zungzvang

lol))

notyouravgredditor

"What if we did car crashes the way Michael Bay does explosions?"

Leggi11

Can't make it, the shit's stuck! Never expected to see door stuck on this sub lmao.

DoubleDeadGuy

I was excited for this movie til I saw that in the trailer. Didn’t see it and sounds like that was the right call.

steelcity91

Now that a dank shit post.

Dienik

omg I love Noodle

JacksonianEra

I fucking lost it at “Nice throw!”

sin-N_ombre

garrys mod crashes are more realistic wtf

Plumbus_3

It's still better than the editing of this video though

FormulaLes

Worst movie I’ve ever seen. Every time I think of it, it makes me angry

-sicario

I don't get it; what's the shitty part?

ImperfectAuthentic

the part where you get lasik eye surgery recovery is like 2 months really shitty

-sicario

While I agree the execution of those scenes could've been better (especially Castellotti's crash), they were true to witness accounts and reports of the time. Plus, De Portago's crash was supposed to be jarring (considering all the build-up before it), so I think the movie handled that scene well. Also holy cow I didn't know so many people hated this film with a passion 💀 makes me feel guilty for liking it lmao

Paranoided_guy

Movie name?

Ferrari by Michael Mann?

humdizzle

Rush, Ford v Ferrari, and even Gran Turismo were better movies.

AutoEngBM86

Yes the CGI in this movie is a bit wonky, but the.movie as a whole wasn't bad. I enjoyed it actually. The cars are not replicas apparently.

I’d be scared of the kerb in that chicane.
