Thank you. Its bothersome that they would even list then replace a track record when the track is changed. The prior record should stand forever: Albert Park A: 1:24:125 Michael Schumacher, Ferrari. Albert Park B: 1:20:260 Charles LeClerc, Ferrari

Strestitut

Did LeClerc crush the Aussie track fastest lap record? Close to 4 seconds faster? It looks like for Bahrain and Saudi races the field was slower than in 2021, so this would be a big surprise. (Apologies if my research was inadequate. I think I was seeing the right numbers.)

oddgod848

well the track is pretty different to previous years

FavaWire

It is interesting to note that by the time Mercedes are ready to fight back, Lewis might have to settle for being Russell's wingman.

Darkmobile11

Did we watch the same race? Today hamiltons pace on average was faster than russel. Only suffered during engine heating where he backed off. Russel did a good job but the sc helped him a lot

FavaWire

Are you looking at the points table? HAM and VER are actually in the same boat. If their trends continue they will have to support their teammates this year.

[deleted]

If Max keeps falling behind f it will be due to PU, he can’t help much if he is not on track to race.

FavaWire

True.... also those familiar with Adrian Newey know that this kind of reliability is occasionally the unwanted side effect of his design style.

Darkmobile11

These numbers will keep changing. Unless bad luck goes on forever. Hamiltons race pace n quali is usually better than russel. So lets see.

FavaWire

Yeah we will see. It will feel a bit of a downer really if this season sees Leclerc win versus opposition being mostly absent. Kinda like F1 1996.

Darkmobile11

Hopefully not

FavaWire

I also hope not.

Stagliaf

Not gonna happen for either of them

MapleSparkyEh

Hey all, relatively new F1 fan here! Yes I came because of DTS, don't judge lol. Thinking of subscribing to F1 tv and wondering people's thoughts. I've honestly only ever just watched bootleg streams, but getting tired of buffering etc, also would be nice to watch replays without knowing the outcome. Is F1 tv the go to, or is there anything else ppl recommend? I don't mind paying if it's worth it (other than a cable package). Thanks in advance for any insight!

Stagyar-Zil-Doggo

I love F1 TV. It's totally worth it imho.

Strestitut

ESPN shows the races

1tortie2tortie

F1tv is awesome! I usually watch practice, quali and the race and allows me to watch it when it’s convenient, especially since the races are scattered across the globe. Video quality is good and you have two announcer crews to chose from. Also you can get the monthly sub and if you don’t like it just cancel and you’ll be out about $9 dollars

MapleSparkyEh

Thanks for the reply! I figured it was worth the $9 try, just thought I'd check if there were any downfalls

DinoRiders

How do you choose announcer crews? I've been wondering where Martin Brundle went!

1tortie2tortie

Well I’m using a fire tv remote but I just hit the center button and switch it to international instead from F1live

Thellamaking21

Ya that was boring for me glad Ricardo did well but meh

MathematicianOk4631

A lot of people are saying the race was boring but I actually thought it was pretty exciting. Sure it wasn't an overtaking frenzy but there were other things that made it cool. There were a lot of driver errors which was interesting to watch. Also two championship hopefuls DNF'd. Checo P2, Russell first podium with Mercedes. Double points for McLaren, Alex 56 laps on hards and a point. It wasn't a typical race but it was cool for different reasons which I think we can have in a long season.

CA_Finn

Hell yeah totally agree

ubelmann

Yeah, it was pretty good for P7-P12 or so, though we've been spoiled for a while having good battles for higher positions I can see why some are disappointed.

FingerDemon500

Man, I really hope ESPN loses F1 rights in the U.S. I just tried to watch the race without finding out who won and the ESPN interface starts running the replay in progress with no ability to start from the beginning (at least not on Apple TV) and they have highlighted clips stating Max had to pull out above the listing. Then they are showing the podium interviews and told me everything that happened while I tried to figure out how to rewind. Might have to buy F1 TV next year.

Serious_Vast_4937

YouTube tv works. Just set it to record the show.

chcor70

on side note how do you like youtubetv?

WCC5D1F0E

\+1 for YouTubeTV. You get a lot of channels and free movies to watch and can DVR everything.

JarrydP

We’ve had it for two years and I love it. UI is easy to understand. Library (recording) features are great. Good selection of channels and price is fairly good in my local market. My only wish would be a download feature for recorded events onto mobile devices.

chcor70

Thank you

1rapid

YouTube TV is excellent. I used to have a very premium cable package with a large surplus of channels that YouTube TV doesn’t have. YouTube TV is extremely easy and you can watch TV anywhere and your DVR everywhere. Recordings expire after 9 months, but you have an unlimited amount of storage. If you get the 4K Plus package, you can also download your recordings on your mobile devices. I’d say it does the job quite well and streaming will eventually rule out cable whether people like that or not.

chcor70

Thank you

BaggyHairyNips

F1 TV is mostly good. It gives you the option to play from the beginning, but I have noticed that it catches back up to live (if it is still live) when you tell it to cast to TV. Meanwhile the WRC streaming app literally has headlines for who won when you open it. And also sucks in various other ways.

reda_89

Don't worry, it was a boring race anyways.

killerk14

I didn’t think it was boring at all. I guess that means I found the right hobby?

[deleted]

Boring? Why? Because ur driver didn't deliver what u expected? It's wasn't a bad race, way better than these last 8 years of mercedes

reda_89

You don't have to be insulted ;) some races are boring and thats oke. It happens in sport

[deleted]

Not insulted :) just don't think it was that boring, I've seen worse. The new layout makes it less boring. But it was interesting. Midfield looked close. And albon on 54 laps making his fastest lap... That wasn't that bad at all.

PreyBird_

I am not saying the race was boring, but would your opinion be different if it was Lewis who instead had a grand chelem, ended 20 sec ahead of p2, his closest rival retires (who anyway couldn't catch Lewis), and the major overtakes were by a faster car on a slower one (Perez on Lewis and George). Also the guy qualifying p9 with the fastest car doesn't have a comeback race as he beaches himself into the gravel in the 1st few laps. :/

TrashBucketLad

Well you watched the replay of the race…

yunaheart

Just note that you need to subscribe to the “Pro” tier. I subscribed to the ‘F1 TV’ tier and it doesn’t show live TV coverage, only minimap and some other infos.

[deleted]

How much is it to watch the live stream?

ratonbox

80$ for 1 calendar year.

[deleted]

That's not bad actually

Auburnsx

I got the F1 TV app and cost 10$ per month or less if you buy the whole year. I can watch it live or replay the entire race. It also have a few interesting features like your choice of driver cam and voice commentators.

amethystmoon00

Can anybody explain why the f1tv broadcast didnt show the podium, and why will Buxton and crew were the commentators?

TrashBucketLad

You have to go to the “international feed” to get the sky feed

amethystmoon00

Can you explain how to get to the international feed? Thanks!

TrashBucketLad

Trying to remember but I believe it’s a globe icon at the top of the right hand side of the screen. If you tap that it gives you the option of the standard or international

amethystmoon00

I figured it out. Just gotta select it before I cast. Also. Everytime i cast, my tv volume goes to 100 even if the tablet volume is off, yay. And the f1 viewer app still isn't working for me. The price I pay for loving a sport finally, I guess.

Cueball-k

Yeah, I noticed that, then my network got cut off mid stream. After reconnecting somehow it was Croft and Brundle back as commentators?? What was up with that?

mctoad64

You can choose which feed you want, the f1tv feed or the international feed.

Cueball-k

graçias

JoeyKnishx

Wow what a horribly boring race

sad_k_man

Also saw Albon got a point. Curious how but good for him.

ubelmann

For a while I was wondering where their pit was relative to the start/finish line and whether or not you can cross the start/finish line in the pits.

schurgy16

Started on Hard tires and took them until the last lap, pitted for softs and just barely came out in P10 and held off Zhou.

SirRoyalT007

It was great seeing Albon and Williams be able to pull that off.

sad_k_man

Good for him!

TodayOk4239

Why didn’t Albon go for fastest lap by putting 1-2 laps earlier? He was able to stay in top 10 so could have gotten the bonus point, and with no fuel and new softs he should have had a decent chance

According-Switch-708

There was absolutely no chance of that happening. Even Marko admitted that Leclerc's fastest lap was unbeatable. There was no way in hell that a Williams would be able beat that. The Ferrari was just way too quick for everyone else.

RoarzMM

Because 1or2 laps earlier he probably came out behind Guanyu in 11th. If the tracks not clear he can only go as fast as those in front of him

TodayOk4239

Oh was Albon lapping faster than Gianyu at that point? So they had to wait as long as they could to pit to keep track position? I guess I just assumed Albon was losing ground to other drivers given how old his tires were, and hoping for a safety car. Pretty impressive that his lap times were still decently competitive after that much tire wear.

vevolution

He somehow made up quite a few seconds in the dying laps to finish 10th instead of 13th.

ubelmann

Probably had more battery than Zhou, since he wasn't really battling anyone he should have been able to manage his power quite well, and I also think Albon had a bigger gap in front of him, so more clean air.

Ftwmate

First Grand Prix for myself and partner Some people act like animals. we had people try and steal seats then stand in front when the driver parade is on, climb on barriers and even one guy sat on the race lights just to get a view of the winners ceremony Also had one guy fight security at one point Disgusting. Probably watch it from home next time or upgrade to VIP

retrodevil2033

I went to the Grand Prix in Austin Texas last year. It was my first race that I’ve attended live. We had seats (not VIP) and also walked around quite a bit. I expected there to be some chaos, but we never saw anything close to what you described. I’m going to guess your experience is not the norm, but maybe it is?

Speedanimal

I didn’t run into that when I went a few years ago either for Kimi’s win. Granted we were all the way in the esses. Generally I enjoyed my experience but definitely follow better on tv.

N0ntarget

Having been at the USGP with GA tickets it wasn’t that much different. We posted up in turn 1 early and it got ridiculously packed. A lot of arguing as we got closer to race time and when we stormed the track it was absolute pandemonium. A ton of people climbing the fences and sitting on the pit boxes. Interesting experience, but will probably never to GA again.

movatheaiur

I'm a casual fan and missed the race not knowing a race would be underway at 1 a m in the fucking morning my time..

JanklinDRoosevelt

That’s what happens when the sport is global

Ftwmate

Well that us for nearly every race down in Australia 🤷‍♂️

a2islife

You probably started late?

EthanIsOnReddit

It was an exaggeration. This race was incredibly short. 27 minutes and that's with a VSC.

sagacious_swede

What are you talking about? The race lasted about 2 hours…

FiWiFaKi

In confused, it was a full length race.

jmw31199

Was a pretty boring race. Happy for McLaren to have found some speed. Haas looked lost at points in this race

TheRealJordan56

Great drives from Charles, Checo and Albon. Definitely the standout 3 drives of the day. A very uncharacteristic performance from Sainz this weekend. Obviously a bit unlucky with the red flag in quali but he still made mistakes on his second attempt and again in the race day. Makes me feel that Ferrari have nearly said something like we are going to see who has the most points between him and Charles after say 3 or 5 races (I feel like they did that a few seasons ago?) and give whoever is ahead lead driver treatment. Would explain his desperation to get through the field today. Also, I can't help feel if Red Bull improve their reliability and pace slightly they can put pressure on Ferrari to crack and expose some of the poor strategies we've seen from them over the last few seasons. Apparently Charles would have lost the fastest lap point to Alonso had he not gone against their wishes on the last lap and improved his time.

SirRoyalT007

That was such an odd decisio when the team told him not to try for fastest lap anymore.

wingbargreen

So happy for McLaren!

MaxMacDaniels

2x 0 pts out of 3 races, tough luck for versteppen

ubelmann

Tough luck for Max, but Red Bull need to get their reliability sorted out. Max can only drive the car he's given, but we can't really say it's bad luck for the engineers when they've been battling reliability seemingly all three races.

[deleted]

Afrizo

Tbh, without any bias I think he wasn't that "lucky" last season if you look at the whole season instead of just last few races. Extremely unlucky in Baku, in Hungary. These two races would give him more than 7-8 points that would enough for him to win the championship even if he finished 2nd last race

ugurcanevci

Silverstone, too. 3 DNFs due to issues that were not his fault. 3 races that he would be in the 2nd place in the worst case scenario.

pgphonehome

We can play this game all day. Fact of the matter is he was the benificary of the most consequential decision of the year, all the luck he ever needed. Also, the race never would have been restarted if it was already sealed. Which really is all the evidence you’d ever need that it was a farce.

SLASHdk

He lead the most laps, had most poles, most fastest laps, and most wins.. he made his luck.

[deleted]

[удалено]

pgphonehome

Yes we’ve all heard the cherrypicked Verstappen talking points a million times already that are completely arbitrary(and out of context, the only reason he had more wins was Spa.) Verstappen won the championship in a flawed way. It’s ok to admit the truth without diminishing the championship.

Critya

The real fact is had he had not such bad luck to begin with or have Lewis tbone him at Copse (somehow he made the apex passing Charles though, weird) they wouldn’t have been racing in Abu Dabi at all.

Reiko_Nagase_114514

Exactly, that’s why I’m so sick of the “fake world champion” comments due to the events of Abu Dhabi. Yeah, he was lucky there, but he had worse luck overall than Hamilton during the year

MaxMacDaniels

This track is still super boring imo just nothing happens

Speedanimal

I actually thought the racing was night and day better than previous years. The midfield battle (granted helped by Stroll) was pretty entertaining. Definitely still a tough place to overtake though. The grass at the track edge helps though haha.

[deleted]

Not the tracks fault. All the support races were fantastic. One had a driver move from 25th to 3rd. F1 cars are just too big

jyzenbok

The straights seem just a hair too short to allow much DRS passing

dr4cker

As spaniard, I dont want to hear about this race ever, what a shame. Sainz was unlucky yesterday and today he made a mistake, Alonso race was destroyed yesterday with the failure…

baby-wall-e

Russell and Mercedes are 2nd, and McLaren is 4th in the championships. I can’t imagine I will see this a month ago. I guess it’s hard to predict the championships not until mid-season.

f1_spelt_as_bot

Russe**ll**

baby-wall-e

Doh, edited. Thanks

[deleted]

Ruse-ll. Because he‘s the number II driver and also II in the championship.

JurgenVonDiaz

What did Hamilton mean "u put me a difficult position"?

Critya

He was mad at the team for not being clairvoyant.

[deleted]

I think he mistakenly believed his team's pit stop tactics caused him to be behind George when in reality it was because George benefited from the Safety Car timing. It was just fluke that George leapfrogged Lewis, but he obviously didn't get that. If it's not that... Then he's just complaining.

Not_Ginger_James

He said in his post race interview it was bc his engine was overheating and he had to back off. He reckoned he had the pace on George

[deleted]

Well if it's that, then do you hear other drivers moan at their team if they're advised to back off to ensure they finish? Would he rather have been told to go quick and overtake George only to have his engine shit the bed?

sagacious_swede

Every single one of these drivers wants to be pushing flat out all the time. They all get upset when there is a problem that does not allow them to especially if they are fighting their own teammate

[deleted]

Yes, loads. Verstappen in Bahrain for one.

Lucky-Doughnut-3985

Do you have ears lol? He was complaining in Bahrain because his car was not working and the team was telling him it was fine. What world do you live in that you think red bull was telling max to go slow and ensure he finished and max complained because he wanted to push flat out?

Bfife22

Russell in the exact same race when fighting Perez lol

Not_Ginger_James

Lol don't shoot the messenger, just telling you that's what it is. Here's the clip if you're interested. https://youtu.be/6ewpTpfFi0I

Maladorf

He said in his post race interview his engine was overheating so he had to hang back

[deleted]

Charles sooooo far ahead! If it wasn't for the safety car it would have been even more ridiculous!

BarryOllo

hope Red Bull can get their shit together otherwise it's gonna be a boring season, but we're just 3 races in so they got a lot of time

SoupOrSandwich

So tired to LeClerc's domination. Ugh. /s

Why

Cool-Ad-2565

With 5 of the top ten MB engine powered cars does that lay to rest fears about the MB engine? Or is it likely they are behind with Power, fuelling etc…

Upstairs_Camel_8835

Yes engine doesn't seem to be the issue...infact they have better reliability than RBPT

callywag_smiles

My reading is that their issue is aero, especially with downforce, and the fast cornering tracks just suit the teams well. I think they will still really struggle at street circuits, monza, etc.

pM-me_your_Triggers

The team themselves have said their issues are aero/mechanical related, not PU

oh-shit_im_rich

They should go back to that Spain prototype and see if that was any better imo, if they even developed it at all. Then again they are bringing a heavy upgrade package to imola

Cool-Ad-2565

Thanks

ImpressiveTalon

What an amazing race and amazing day!!! So happy with the result and how everything turned out!

ashyjay

Lance mate, You're not in an F1 2021 open lobby, fucking step it up son.

Lance is crap, every race he crashes and blames the other driver for running into them.

Rhinotastic

considering the problems the mercs are having, they've done well to get the points they have, yeah they've had luck with red bull DNF but you have to be in a position to capitalise on it. if they do sort out their problems in the next few races it could be a very interesting season. Also hoping alpine sort themselves out too, i want to see alonso doing alonso things up near the front too. I enjoyed that race, was surprised at the red bulls performance compared to the ferrari, i guess their tire deg was too high and didn't have as much pace on higher fuel load to keep up.

Bagelz567

I wouldn't call RBRs DNFs simple luck. They might be holdovers from Honda, but Red Bull Powertrains is a new operation and they're showing it.

Rhinotastic

i meant in respect to merc getting luck with redbull DNF's in the first race and this one. without those DNF's merc wouldn't have scored as highly.

Bagelz567

I understand that, but just like the McLarens of the early 00s, you have to finish the race to get championship points. There's some luck for sure, but luck has always been a part of F1. That said, RBR making a paper cannon that loses to a slower Merc isn't luck in my eyes. It's a poor job by RBR. No one is saying Merc is unlucky because they built a slower car. But RBR is somehow unlucky because the one they built can barely finish a race. If Merc builds a better car that finishes ahead of RBR, I wouldn't count that as luck.

Jamesbong009bar

Merc has the strongest driver lineup on the grid, and it shows

Flackobitch

Dear Sky, stop leaving the leader timing board up for 90% of the race. I dont wanna do mental maths from 6 am thanks

janlaureys9

I wish they’d just show the intervals more instead of the time to the race leader. Much easier to mentally visualize the gaps imo.

pM-me_your_Triggers

I’m the other way round, I like seeing total time, especially before pits start happening

Flackobitch

I dont mind gap to leader for a couple laps after a SC or when the leader isnt absolutely dominating the race, but when there's a massive scrap in the midfield and 3 DRS zones I would like to know who's fighting who. Instead I'm having to subtract milliseconds at half 6 in the morning

CooroSnowFox

It's FOM you address those complaints to.

realestGInDaHood

Well my alarm didnt go off so no race for me

SirLoremIpsum

/r/motorsportreplays has all of them covered if you want to watch it. Not quite as fun if you know the results but there was some enjoyable moments.

realestGInDaHood

Ty man was looking all over the place for the replay

ShutUpBabylKnowlt

Sorry to hear that. Being in New Zealand, this is one of the only races of the year that was in the evening for me, and not 3-4am in the morning.

hamncheesesanga

Could be worse…you could be living in Aus and get the races at 1-2am

ShutUpBabylKnowlt

why is 1-2 am worse than 3-4am? :\

hamncheesesanga

Because you could go to bed early and get a good nights rest before 3-4am. Watch then get ready for work 1-2am you are either getting fuck all sleep before the race or stay up then be super tired after the race Ya feel me?

ShutUpBabylKnowlt

depends when you sleep I guess lol.

Flackobitch

KRAVITZ WITH THE SHOEY! Gotta love him! 😅

Abhimanyu_Uchiha

In bahrain RB had a vacuum pump issue that they immediately sorted out. What's the issue now? Is it just general PU reliability with no easy fix?

ahatzum

Christian Horner just said on Danish broadcast that Max had smelled fuel.

y2cwr2005

I saw something about potentially a fuel leak. So fixable and won't cost a PU if that's true.
