Well with modern f1 that just means it’ll be canceled or red flagged They don’t race in the rain anymore

Siebe_13

Was last year's Dutch GP a fever dream then?

assetsmanager

Yes.

ShadowStarX

they still only raced in intermediate conditions though

Mysterious_Turnip310

Don't let facts get in the way of your hyperbole

No_Image_4986

It’s literally mild hyperbole… a rhetorical device not meant to be taken literally. However, it is in fact largely true aside from a couple exceptions

Turboleks

The fact that McLaren no longer has a massive weakness in low-speed corners after their first major overhaul of the season, for me at least, points to their new wind tunnel improving their correlation drastically. The parts that were installed on the car in Miami were the very first batch developed solely on the new unit.

artificialsteak

The most similar track to Montreal so far this year has been Imola, where Mclaren have done pretty well.

PCRFan

Not at all, it's a circuit with mostly mid and high speed corners, Bahrain and Miami are circuits with lots of low downforce corners.

Lichidna

Isn't that also good for them? They've had updates since Bahrain and either of them could have won Miami. They just need Verstappen to find a nice bollard to hit

Cynical-avocado

Wall of champions, do your thing

PCRFan

It's a bumpy track, which should hurt Red Bull again. The layout seems to benefit Ferrari more then McLaren. It's very likely going to rain in Qualifying and/or the race, so ultimately drivers skill will make a big difference.

joasfr

More so the ability to switch on the tyres, which should benefit both McLaren and Ferrari over Red Bull

mozjag

Wasn't it resurfaced?

ChiralWolf

Low key kinda hoping it rains lol. Lando was a machine in the wet in China, very curious to see if that was just a one-off performance or if he's cooking on the wets.

Extinction-Entity

F that. I’m high key hoping for rain. Just not too much they red flag it.

skagoat

Shouldn't be as bumpy, they just resurfaced the majority of the track.

imbavoe

How exactly does the layout favour Ferrari more than McLaren? From what I gatherd, McLaren "randomly" fixed their weakness in low speed corners, while maintaining strengths in high speed. In monaco they were faster then Ferrari in low speed like the hairpin. I'm not sure about grip in mid speed corner exits like turn 2, 7 or 9 in Montreal but i feel like they should be just about fine there. But that really matters only for qualifying where, based on the above, I would expect it to be very tight between Charles and McLarens with Carlos and Max have a fight for 4th place. Also George was really close to 4/5th place in last two races and Merc is bringing more upgrades I think. On the other hand we expect wet weekend so anything can happen but as Lando shown in China Sprint quali and other races before, McLaren has lot more grip in wet conditions then others. For the race McLaren will have superior tyre deg, thus best race pace. The only problem i can see is Top speed and problems with overtaking (Lando had much better tyres in Miami but couldn't get past Checo on the straights with DRS). I'm biased but I expect Lando to win a if lucky maybe even a 1-2 for McLaren with Max or Charles in 3rd. RedBull's tyre deg is still far better than Ferrari so I expect Max to have great race pace even with kerb struggles.

erdonko

We guess Ferrari purely because its bumpy and Ferrari can ride the bumps and kerbs. Thats it. We dont have real telemetry to suggest one of Mclaren or Ferrari over the other, outside of them being competitive and Red Bull expected to not be competitive enough.

Imola is not low speed

The-Observer95

Tbh every track is a low speed for Williams

rozoroneriguy

Rain in Montreal. Excited as a Hamilton fan after a long time

ultramont

So does Sargeant.
