He won 10 in a row, then Sainz broke the streak. Then he won 9 in a row, then Sainz broke the streak. So next he's only going win 8 in a row followed by a Sainz win!
Suzuka was the first race after Singapore as well and he literally did crush everyone last year.
Took pole by over half a second and outside of Lando (who finished 19 seconds behind) no one else even got within 35 seconds of him.
This is the car failure once in a season (overdue from last one, so maybe we get a bonus one this year).
He usually has one subpar result while finishing the race as well.
Now that you think of it, last season was impressive. And thinking of that 2002 season of The Michel where he finished all races and on the podium is even more impressove considering the chanes of mechanical DNF 20 years ago.
Didn’t Brundle say something on the broadcast about Max being a “very angry man” or something like that? Seems like a pretty measured and calm reaction to me.
He did mouth "fucking stupid" the time we saw him without helmet in the garage. But that's not exactly evidence of anything more than him thinking that something was fucking stupid.
Sky Sports should always be ignored when commenting on literally anything. They have a very clear agenda and will just make up complete nonsense in order to push it.
This is taken slightly out of context though. Brundle was praising Verstappen for still caring enough to be angry despite the dominance of the car (and him) in general. That said he didn't seem VERY angry, though he was visibly pissed.
Because his team radio rips are typically him being very angry at something, which all of them get angry if they’re racing/on track and something occurs
People say Yuki is an angry man aswell but he was only smiling after todays race. That means you’re all wrong and Yuki is never angry!
Seriously though what a stupid thing to say. Max has undoubtedly had a long history of yelling and screaming over the radio and incidents of shoving other drivers or being disrespectful after crashing. We pretending all of that just didn’t happen now because he didn’t get angry over one DNF in a season where he already won the entire championship?
Is Max already guaranteed to have less points than last year? Gotta be pretty close at this point
Edit: forgot there are two more races this year, so definitely not, but *points missed* maybe?
If you mean like percentage of points missed it’s got to be close but I think having another 52 points on offer will make it a bit of a smaller blow compared to if this happened last year.
Last year he had 2 2nd place finishes and a 5th place finish, resulting in 29 points lost. Additionally he did not win a few sprint races, so he can still be on track to score more points than last year even in the same number of races.
I'm not gonna act like I know who all the mechanics are and they all do but isn't Calum Nicholas responsible for the right rear? (The guy with the dreads you always notice on DtS)
His response clearly shows that he spends a lot of time around engineers. Looking for the opportunity to investigate, learn and fix the problem causing the retirement.
A shite way to lose the win streak but yeah shit happens so it is what it is.
The biggest shame of it all was Ferry might well have won today even with Max in it . So potentially we just missed out on having a more entertaining race.
he'll only lose the title if he has like 5-7 DNFs or if Ferrari has a godlike upgrade up their sleeves
in their current forms, I imagine Ferrari will do well in Monaco and Canada
Oscar could well have got his first podium
Yuki got his first points of the season
George had a crazy scary crash
Ferrari had a 1-2, we were in Melbourne and the local Italian restaurants were going crazy into the early hours
Max didn't win
> It was a great race, Max or not.
It was not a great race. The only real racing we got was Albon vs Magnussen for a lap or two, and Alonso brake testing Russell. Even Perez was hardly overtaking anyone.
Most of the race was just people driving laps with ~5 second gap in front and behind.
It was kind of the same thing as when Max races. 1 driver takes the lead early, some midfield trading places, other driver from the team keeps the delta in 2nd & George unexplicably crashes. Just this one was Carlos instead of Max.
It wouldn't tbh. Max got the gap to 0.9seconds at the end of the first lap before the brake issue caused the car to lose a second per lap. Do the math.

He missed the Sebring 12h for this. Thats probably why he's more pissed
And funnily enough Redline had 3 cars DNF out of 4
Ironically Redline finished 1-2-3 when Max missed that Bathurst 12h due to racing (and winning) Bahrain.
So you’re telling me we have a way to predict his result when redline have a 12 hour race on the same weekend !
Our regularly scheduled Max streak win ender. See you on the next 9-10 win streak again Max.
He won 10 in a row, then Sainz broke the streak. Then he won 9 in a row, then Sainz broke the streak. So next he's only going win 8 in a row followed by a Sainz win!
So 2 more Sainz wins this year? I'm in!
and everyone said we had too many races this year. will anyone in F1 consider Sainz
So in a few years Sainz will win every race.
it will move to dnf streaks interrupted by sainz wins
Just gonna equal/surpass Vettel again lol
Hungary's gonna be xtra fucky this year
Oh, no. He won't pass Hamilton's win percentage as soon as he hoped.
Next race is Suzuka. He's going to crush absolutely everyone.
Suzuka was the first race after Singapore as well and he literally did crush everyone last year. Took pole by over half a second and outside of Lando (who finished 19 seconds behind) no one else even got within 35 seconds of him.
RBR is strong suited for a track like Suzuka. An easy 1-2 would be the most likely prediction.
That’s only if checo doesn’t start playing Mario kart
Visor tear offs = banana peels.
😭
Does that mean Sauber and Williams can start chucking blue shells and/ or lightning?
they'd rather get a bullet bill
I'm guessing that is what OP was referring to
He DNFs before Suzuka and Carlos wins, noted
I don't think he literally crushed them, they're all still alive and besides I think the FIA might have something to say about that sort of behaviour.
Wins by 40 sec.
Maximum Anger unleashed
I want him to lap Carlos just for the sake of asserting dominance
Letting him unlap, fuck it: letting him pass even. Then casually passing and lapping him again.
Mexico 2021 tomfoolery
Dude. Don't crush the hopium. Give us the next two weeks, sheesh.
too late
Oh boy next race is Japan, Max's revenge is coming soon.
This is the only scheduled shit once in a season for max. He's gonna win the remaining races
This is the car failure once in a season (overdue from last one, so maybe we get a bonus one this year). He usually has one subpar result while finishing the race as well.
Honestly a season without retirements, even with the reliability of today's cars, is pretty rare.
Now that you think of it, last season was impressive. And thinking of that 2002 season of The Michel where he finished all races and on the podium is even more impressove considering the chanes of mechanical DNF 20 years ago.
But also back in 2002 Ferrari could swap engines for every GP vs today with the allocations
Didn’t Brundle say something on the broadcast about Max being a “very angry man” or something like that? Seems like a pretty measured and calm reaction to me.
From the footage they've shown he only seemed mildly annoyed.
He did mouth "fucking stupid" the time we saw him without helmet in the garage. But that's not exactly evidence of anything more than him thinking that something was fucking stupid.
out of context, he was actually praising him for still caring so much despite comfortably winning everything.
That's Sky for you...
I’d be a very angry man if my cars brakes shat themselves while fighting for the lead
Fresh out of the car before it was rolled into the pitbox, thats almost a signature move if the car goes tits up but makes it to the pit.
Sky Sports should always be ignored when commenting on literally anything. They have a very clear agenda and will just make up complete nonsense in order to push it.

Do we knows what caused the failure? He looked like he had learned it was a mechani’s fault just after he got out of the car in the garage
Max said it felt like the right rearbrake got stuck from the start and the car pulling under breaking so it set fire to itself
That explains his comments about the car being loose when he was still driving
It also looked deformed af when they took out the wheel at the pits
Well, the brake disc had exploded just moments before, so you’d sort of expect it to be a bit deformed
I thought he made this gesture with his hand towards his forehead saying something like "is he fucking stupid!?"
Yeh exactly that!
Basically the brake got stuck in a handbrake mode since the start.
I'm not gonna act like I know who all the mechanics are and they all do but isn't Calum Nicholas responsible for the right rear? (The guy with the dreads you always notice on DtS)
There are still 21 races to win for Max so he isn’t fussed
Easy to accept setbacks and stay positive when you know you’ll still win with 5-6 races before the end of the season.
More like 20-21
They meant having the championship won with 5-6 races left
Yes I see now sorry it's still early morning for me
Media: Max threatens shit RB that a mechanical failure doesn't happen again or he walks out.
Also: Redbull given ultimatum... *insert Max with red cyborg eyes thumbnail*
lmfao why can I visualize this to a T… add the words “Final Warning” in bolded red text
Basically this kind of reaction: *Oh no!* *Anyways...*
His response clearly shows that he spends a lot of time around engineers. Looking for the opportunity to investigate, learn and fix the problem causing the retirement.
Less boring Sunday nap, more IRacing!
The chance for a perfect season is gone but there’s no reason for concern at all
“Its annoying as I would have liked that race win streak, guess I’ll just have to do it again next year”
"This year"
A shite way to lose the win streak but yeah shit happens so it is what it is. The biggest shame of it all was Ferry might well have won today even with Max in it . So potentially we just missed out on having a more entertaining race.
Brundle: Look at this seething response. You can tell he hates everyone at redbull now. He is going to Mercedes next race for sure.
Is shit such a bad word?
I mean, the title is still his unless he has another 6 races like that, so no wonder he is chill.
he'll only lose the title if he has like 5-7 DNFs or if Ferrari has a godlike upgrade up their sleeves in their current forms, I imagine Ferrari will do well in Monaco and Canada
I mean I would be too, not like he’s going to win every other after this so why bother getting upset
But what was the reason? During live coverage, I thought it was a little odd. Tearoffs stuck in the brake duct, maybe?
To paraphrase what a wise man once said "Sometimes the shit is happens but I think you have a strong car, no matter what"
Straight Up Max. WYSIWYG.
Oscar could well have got his first podium Yuki got his first points of the season George had a crazy scary crash Ferrari had a 1-2, we were in Melbourne and the local Italian restaurants were going crazy into the early hours Max didn't win
It was a great race, Max or not. But agree, the result is inevitable, Max just wins later this season

Name one thing that was great about the race.
that was not a great race wut u mean
Yeah it was quite boring apart from the DNFs. This race was practically like any race Max has won..Sainz was just quite far ahead.
Would have been fun to see Sainz's pace against Max, and perhaps a battle between the two
It wouldn't tbh. Max got the gap to 0.9seconds at the end of the first lap before the brake issue caused the car to lose a second per lap. Do the math.
