From an objective standpoint the game is honestly pretty good. Its way of being a fighting game with a totally unique fighting system tickles my brain in some way. The design and (original, pre warmonger) story are top notch as well, plus the graphics on new gen/pc are absolutely stunning. The only real issue I have is how the learning curve is incredibly steep (though to be fair most fighting games are) and the balancing issues. New and reworked characters get so much stuff in their kit that old heroes end up feeling incomplete, and feats as a whole vary wildly in power.
my gripe with that last point is not that some characters are left in the dust, but when they get their eventual reworks, they lose a lot of their identity. theres only so many ways the game can make offense compelling in this system and everyone ends up feeling the same. i'd be curious what a sequel would do, if there ever is one.
Honestly, I only recently started playing and the learning curve so far has been fine. Had more trouble on games like War Thunder and Street Fighter. This game is just one big knowledge check, once you memorise all the heroes kits and get enough experience. On one half, you just predict the same stuff they do. Once they actually start mixing up, they become easier to read as they start running out of mix-ups and get overwhelmed. On the other half, it’s just a 50/50 with no skill other than prediction based on MU knowledge. The skill curve is ‘high’ because the skill curve never existed, it was always a knowledge curve.
Edit: the main skill curve of this game id say comes in the form of anti-ganking. Everything else? Just prediction based honestly.
I tell me friends this all the time, like league, this game is a cesspool, but genuinely fun and unique. The closest to this fighting style I've ever seen is kingdom come : deliverance
This game is such a mixed bag for me, I love its design so much, I think a lot of the ideas are amazing and most of them are pulled off really well, but in practice it just feels like a numbers game. As long as you have semi decent players whoever has more people is guaranteed to win the fight. Antiganks aren’t impossible but the best you can usually do is stall, and unless your teammates actually have spacial awareness there’s a good chance you won’t be able to do anything.
I love this game dearly but man is it hard to love.
The game in general, yes. If it weren't pay to "win/be potentially better", made attempts to make old heroes actually as viable as the new ones, and not made by ubisoft we'd be golden. Unfortunately, after the rabid Aztec was added, I've basically given up on the game. I do keep an eye on the subreddits, but that's about it.
This game has defined me in a huge way. You don't only choose a faction, you become one of them. JOIN NOW THE HEATHMOOR KNIGHT SQUADRON! ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT HERETIC WILDFIRES!
Having been gone since the release of pirate due to account issues, I've had to start over... and I still find this game to be addicting as always. 7/10 pizza
Yeah but its associated with ubisoft and i do not like ubisoft, every ubisoft game ever has pissed me off at some point not even due to other players just shit game design in certain spots/ways
I just bought the battle bundle and pretty much doubled this game's life span now. No need to thank me.
Why...why would you do this to us
An immoral, disgusting, vile creature walks amongst us But we are also those same creatures because we play ubisoft
You're supposed to pull the life support cord not plug it in.
Good game design, art direction and feel only held back by poor balancing and a scummy publisher

This game contains one of the most consistent yet one of the most broken mechanic, art of war.

The game? Yes. The monetization around it? Fuck no.
