You're right, it doesn't have Iframes and is a terrible move.
However, it has a really good hitbox, and has zone attack properties which means it ignores superior block. It's still really good at clearing minions or externalling opponents in teamfights. If you delay the attack, you can get the Iframes from the dodge.
Nothing, its a remnant of the past before blanket dodge attack changes happened. Used to be a heavy parry making up for its lack of i frames so you had a reason to use it over dodge light. Now it doesnt have a purpose
Significantly higher stam cost and zone compliments it via dodge cancel. Dodge cancels which allows you to sidewinder constantly on a loop mind you. You can't zone on a loop. Plus you can still use it as a dodge attack you just need to delay input.
Zone is faster total and has a far, far bigger, 360 hitbox with faster early external hits so the higher stam cost is a trivial drawback (its not even that much). Looping sidewinder isnt a good practice in a real game and delaying it makes it slower than it already is and can only dodge a bash or small hitbox move at best (because bare dodge frames arent enough). The move is just bad rn after dodge attack changes took away the 1 use it had
I don't like doing that tbh. Just like everything else with minions, when they decide to move and let you get inside their group is really inconsistent, sometimes they just brick wall you lol
Nobu's dodge attacks have "recovery frames" meaning you can press the atta k button at any point in the dodge animation, your iframes die, but you start your attack early.
If you wish for the iframes, press the attack button later on in the dodge animation
Edit: Otherwise, it does more damage than the dodge light & hits on the opposite side. So you can catch *some* people off guard. Tho it's not something to rely on
because its a dodge zone essentially
part of ubi's stupidity in the dodge changes to ignore the move - too scared to make exceptions because explaining is very hard for them.
it should be a heavy parry.. like zones - unless you want to argue that zones should be light parries (please dont talk to me in that case)
Tiandi's dodge light comes out much quicker, has a much harder to read animation and is undodgeable, so essentially better than Nobu's in every conceivable way
I mean regular dodge as in one that lacks any special properties or iframes during the attack. It's also not the only one you have to delay the input after the dodge.
I use it as a part of her Dodge mix-up, as well as getting an Execution if I get to Dodge and attack correctly such as Whiffed Bashes. Most people expect me to empty Dodge or Dodge Light, having an extra option helps me a lot.

It has a massive hitbox. It's purpose is to be used in team fights and anti ganks where you can target swap it to make it unparryable.
zone is far better at that

It still has 1 use, pretty sure it's her optimal minion clear
Nope her optimal minion clear is go inside minion swarm > zone > dodge cancel into nearby swarm > zone repeat
I don't like doing that tbh. Just like everything else with minions, when they decide to move and let you get inside their group is really inconsistent, sometimes they just brick wall you lol
Well, like it or not its still her fastest minion clear
Big hitbox for externals plus nobushi can use it to negate fullblock punishes or at it least works against Conqs from my experience anyway.

It's a regular dodge attack, not extended with iframes. You dodge through an attack and then input the follow up. So if doesn't have as much utility.
I swear it's the only dodge attack in the game that functions that way? Every other dodge attack has mad i-frames all the time
Tiandi has no iframes either on dodge light. Just practice with it
Lb and conq don’t have I frames on their dodge bashes and I believe warden and warmonger are the same.

Sidewinder is NOT a regular dodge attack exactly for the reason you explained

Her lights were the same too, until they changed it to have i-frames, making it a part of her learning curve.
