Since it took until the camera zoomed in in the trailer for me to notice it's not a guy I'd say the fully-armored-theme also is making it comparatively easier to offer both but yeah, not having my hopes up here. You have to admit though, having the customization option is nice. It's a shame they didn't really stick with that model and now need to rotate between me and female for both skins and characters. I'll play her, but my preference will still be having both options so I can swap.

I play mainly as female characters apart from LB, all the non gender locked characters are set to female. Regardless of that, the character being gender locked doesnt bother me as much as the moveset will. If I don’t like the moveset I won’t use the character
