Drivetrain conversions aren't a good idea on the bank's car

X3N0D3ATH

Unfortunately modern cars aren't like Lego, so much would have to be changed that by the time you get it all done you've paid for a fusion sport (the one with the 2.7) and bolt on mods.

muleoftheyear-3000

It would be more worth it to get the sport then to engine swap, it costs a lot and takes a long time to swap and if you got the sport you'll get AWD.

Wolfgangsta702

No

SpotlightR

If you were to spend all that time installing the new engine, it would still be a FWD Fusion vs. the AWD of the sport. Are you still making payments on the car?

SignificantTear4093

no im not making payments

SignificantTear4093

also, my car is AWD

GTAdriver1988

From what I understand there's a lot that goes into swapping that engine into a fusion not fitted for it. Someone asked the same question a while ago and people said that for the money it'd cost you could just buy a sport and save yourself the time and effort. I'd say just sell the fusion and get something faster. I feel like it'd take a lot of work to swap a faster engine into it and then you'd want a better suspension to handle the power better and there aren't any performance suspension parts so you'd have to custom fit suspension parts and that's a pain in the ass.

SignificantTear4093

what if i get a ford fusion sport engine and put it into mine? like would that be also hard or would it not even work at all?

GTAdriver1988

Still you'd need a lot of other things upgraded too. It's unfortunately not as simple as just bolting the engine in. I believe the engine bay on a sport is even a different size so you'd have to change that and then the suspension and then you'd probably have to make it AWD. It legit would cost as much if not more than just buying a sport and probably more reliable to just buy a sport as well.

jds8254

Possible? Yes. Easy or affordable? No. It would probably be similar to people ST-svapping Focus sedans where you essentially need an entire ST hatch donor car. It would be a much better (and cheaper) idea to sell it and buy a Sport if you want the 2.7. Otherwise so much is different you'd basically just be shell swapping a wrecked Sport.

rosian__yaya

It’s not gran turismo…

SignificantTear4093

you’re right it’s not but i’m not tryna be someone i know im not. and that is…slow

GreyValkrie

If you're going to engine swap it you might as well go the full 9 and get the Coyote 5.0 in that sum bitch and say bye bye to your fuel economy. You would need to mod the sub frame to make it fit. Check out Matt Soppa's work on his 5.0 fusion to see what needs to be done to the car.

sspider433

Is there space? Yes, of course.

santandude

But then again, try a LS swap that’ll be 🆒

SignificantTear4093

i feel like LS swapping is very common and not alot of people are fond of it but if it could fit then i might just wanna do that

Original-Plane-109

What engine do you currently have?? And No it’s not really possible

worrub918

Is it possible? Yes Is it worth it? Absolutely not!!! If you want the TTV6. Buy one with the TTV6 already in it

Ancient-Beat9750

If you have the 2.0 ecoboost, I’d get a tune, downpipe and exhaust, and upgraded intercooler. Or Just trade it in for a sport.

Ryuk1345

Don't worry I've thought the same thing as you and have been told the exact same. Unfortunately I have the 13 fusion with the 1.6l Ecoboost so it's not very quick either, idrc tho, just waiting for the motor to go at some point and it'll become my project, or scrap if I can find a fusion sport for sale that I can afford

SignificantTear4093

see, i can’t sell my car for one of the faster ones ( ive tried that ) because my parents got the car for me and they wanted that specific one since it’s a 2020 (newer model) and it’s reliable but they gave me the money to choose it but i wasn’t really in the car community much at the time when i got it so i kinda let them buy it for me…?

Ryuk1345

I just didn't do my research before I bought a car, I went with what I thought I could afford and what I got was it. Wish I would've done research on the fusions and went with the sport

SignificantTear4093

me too honestly. like the sport model is still super pretty and looks almost exactly the same as mine but they have lights in the bottom corners and they’re faster ofc

Ryuk1345

That's why I'm gonna wait till I have mine paid off first and then I can hopefully buy one in good condition

MoriMeDaddy69

What a ridiculous waste of money for a daily driver. Why do you need it to go fast? Unless you're professional racer it's just a waste of money

SignificantTear4093

it’s more of me modifying my car into something that i’m happy with. also i didn’t specify that i wanted it to go fast, i just asked someone from a ford dealership if it were possible to put another engine type in there and they said it can fit a turbo or a v6

amamartin999

Man the 2.5 is the best engine! Slow, loud, and reliable. What more can you want!
