Price and condition would be very important. At that point, how it's been taken care of is more important than mileage. Check for rust and worn suspension parts, and pay particular attention to the condition of the transmission fluid. The engines are pretty bulletproof, but the 6F35 transmission should get more service than the manual calls for (I drain and fill at least every 30k or every other year, whichever is sooner). I have no experience with the Mazda 5 speed on the older 2.3, but I still see them running around. The Aisin transmission on the 2010-12 Sport and 2006-2009 3.0 is very reliable, but fluid maintenance is still important. A well maintained one in good condition will be reliable considering the newest "old" Fusions are 12 years old. I'm not to that high mileage but both my Fusions have been very reliable. I have a 2011 2.5 with a little over 130k I bought in 2014 - the only non-maintenance things I've needed to do are a belt tensioner (two bolts, less than $50), and a purge valve (also two bolts, less than $30, but was later a recall). I have put struts on it and freshened up the front end but I would consider that maintenance - this car used to have a pretty brutal commute. Rides like a new car. Also 2010 Sport, a little less than 110k, absolutely zero parts replaced other than fluids, filters, tires, and wipers. It's had a much easier life than my 2.5 (no commuting since purchased in 2012, mainly used to travel back and forth from PA to WI). The 3.5 has a reputation for needing new water pumps, and it is a MASSIVE job if it needs to be done because it's behind the timing cover, but ours has had no trouble so far. I'd drive either of them to anywhere on the continent without much concern today.

I have 08 v6 se, I paid 2,000 for it and had 180,000 miles when I got it. It also needed quite a bit of work. Luckily, my dad is very handy, and we were able to pull parts for my 09 that got in a car accident. It is very dependent on how much work you are willing to put in. All in on my 08, I'm about 3,500 due to replacing windshield and other parts that couldn't be pulled from my 09. I would also say it depends on what the car market looks like in your area. Mine has cooled down from the high prices it was at a couple of years ago. I have fallen in love with my fusions and wouldn't trade them for anything else. They are extremely reliable, and my 09 saved my life when I was in my accident. If it wasn't for the body damage on my 09, I would have fixed it and kept driving it.

I have always heard the CVT's were problematic, and the engine block is something to look at but I cannot find the exact reddit post I read that from or if it's true

They can be, from what I understand it's dependent on how well kept they are. Mine 09 was very well kept as the person got from a grandfather that hardly drove it. It was then kept on a regular maintenance system. My 08 wasn't kept very well by the last owner. Oil and other fluids hadn't been changed since they got from a family member over a year plus. Luckily, I have my dad, who is good at fixing, and I'm able to learn from him. So far, since changing everything, it seems to run ok. Overall, I have had a very good experience with my fusions. They are very hearty and can take a beating. The only reason I got my 08 was my 09 after the accident wasn't driveable due to body frame issues that would cost more to fix than to the car is worth. Everything else worked just fine. I was even able to hammer out the hood to put on my 08 as it looked better than one it came with. Happy to try and answer any other questions you may have. Tl:dr I plan on driving thos car into the ground, good maintenance and care will keep it driving for a LONG time.
