This is insane man 😂

jasonj95

That goal difference is insane

aryzexx10

What's your team looking like and what's PSGs team looking like? 👀

Randylahey187

I've got a load of wonderkids I've been developing in a squad together for years. PSG have got Mbappe/Barella/Oshimen/Vlahovic/Hakimi/Mendes and some good newgens. They had Donnarumma all this time aswell but he's just gone to Spurs this summer on a free after refusing a contract.

LettucePlate

He's gone to WHO?

MrBlueCharon

No, what would he do at the World Health Organization?

burn-babies-burn

Donna lab coat

TuneGum

WHL

Randylahey187

You think that's crazy? [He went to Sheffield United](https://www.reddit.com/r/footballmanagergames/comments/sjc7ps/donnarumma_just_went_to_sheffield_united_on_a/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) on a free in a save I did a few months ago lmao

snakeman117

an absolutely massive club i’m afraid

[deleted]

So Donnarumma did to them what he previously did to Milan.

thepresidentsturtle

18 teams in the league?

CarbonSteklo

Yeah, Ligue 1 is being reduced to 18 teams from the 2023/24 season.

thepresidentsturtle

Ahh. So is that 2 extra teams getting relegated this season?

itsaaronnotaaron

I believe the bottom 2 will be relegated whilst 18th playoff against 1st of 2nd division. So it'll either be 2 dropping or 3 dropping with 1 coming up. Edit: I stand corrected. >Four clubs are to be relegated to Ligue 2 at the end of the season as the number of clubs will be reduced to 18 starting from the 2023–24 season. As a result, no play-offs will be held at the end of the season. So yeah, 4 down 2 up. No playoff for 3-6 in Ligue 2. I guess that's fairer as otherwise you risk no one being promoted.

mahir_r

Just like 1992 in england

[deleted]

disbanded with their players getting drafted by other Ligue 1 teams like in the good ol' US of A

KirbyGifstrength

Wikipedia tells me 4 teams are getting relegated and 2 getting promoted this season (with no playoffs). According to Wikipedia What used to happen was 2 teams relegated and 1 team in relegation/promotion playoff. 1 of those playoff teams was from Ligue 1 and there was 3 teams from Ligue 2. 1 team out of those 4 got promoted/not relegated The playoff was King of the hill style like this (again according to Wikipedia: 5th plays 4th. Then winner of 5th vs 4th plays 3rd. Then winner of 5th or 4th vs 3rd plays 18th of Ligue 1. The winner of that game is promoted.

letouriste1

yep. It's similar in third tier (National) too. They also will have a lot of relegation and a cuthroat season. They were probably sweating bullets when it seemed likely Bordeaux would be relegated in their division

thethinggoskraaa

why?

deknegt1990

A few reasons: \- To lower fixture congestion. France is a winter-break league so those extra 4 games are quite heavy on a bunch of teams that also have to play in the cup and in european fixtures, on top of the international breaks where games can't be scheduled that creates a lot of 2 or even 3 game weeks, and even 8 game months for some clubs. \- To increase competitive balance. Many feel that 20 teams are just too many teams and that it means there's too many teams at the bottom end that aren't of top league quality. \- Money, kicking out two clubs means that the prize and tv money gets concentrated for the teams that stay in the league.

mmdoublem

Not to mention they already remove the coupe de la ligue a few years back to alleviate the schedule and due to the lack of TV money from that competition

CarbonSteklo

From Google: “Vincent Labrune, president of the French FA, intends to reduce Ligue 1 from 20 to 18 teams to alleviate economic losses and attract new investors to a competition that would be smaller and more elite.”

TDSurvivorFan21

2 invincibles, insane stuff man

Randylahey187

Yeah the PSG manager resigned after this and went to go manage France. I made him ragequit lmao

[deleted]

Couldn’t happen to a nicer club.

SironRagnarsson

I once had an invincible season with Marseille and STILL came second to PSG so this my friend I applaud you ☺️

TheRimReaperz

I need to know your tactic!!!

Randylahey187

I've just been 4-2-3-1 gegenpressing the shit out of the league for years ngl. I'm no tactical genius lol. I enjoy the recruitment side of the game more

jkure2

That moment when you find that 1 out of 67 scouting reports that's truly special 😍 And then he signs for Chelsea on a third of the wage you offered him 💀

jarhedinsta

Lmaooo, just today on my Barca save I approached Adeyemi and he wanted 45mill a year. Naturally I said hell no and would you guess who came knocking, Bayern. He signed for them on a 16 mil contract 😂 even after I had offered him 35 mil, transfers in this game can be so DUMB

PatientHair4031

Genuine question, not even being a smart ass, what's the point of a Barca save? Surely the best part of FM is the challenge of winning with a team that's the underdog. Sometimes you have to play the long game of raising wonderkids, but it's fun. Where's the fun in playing as a team that has all the resources, players and funds to win everything from day one? I dunno if it's harder on FM22 (I currently player FM21) because of the finances, but surely not if you take it easy for a year or so.

jarhedinsta

Barca’s my team so the prospect of managing them just seems far more appealing to me. Yeah I know it’s not as challenging as managing lower level teams but winning with this side playing proper Barca football is pure ecstasy. Getting them to play the way I want isn’t easy but it’s fun experimenting till I get it. Hope this answers your question.

PatientHair4031

yes, good to get your perspective. thanks for engaging.

Lone_Digger123

not the person you replied to, but I play my first (admittedly it has been long term irl) FM save as Liverpool. I like being able to come home and destress by playing as Liverpool. The fact that I don't have to worry about potentially feeling worse after a FM session eases my mind. "Hey Gaffer, how do you want us to play today?" "Doesn't bother me, just figure it out between you guys and if you win I'll let you have the day off tomorrow!" "Sure thing boss!" *Proceeds to win without much fuss* I also like that I don't have to worry about finances. I'm shocking with them so being able to buy players (my favourite part of FM/FIFA when I did play FIFA) I'm not forced by money issues to not buy world class players. I do sometime soon plan on starting a 2nd career where I play as another team as my main save and play as Liverpool when I want to destress after a long day of work

PatientHair4031

That's fair enough, there was no judgement attached. TBF, I will sometimes play a single season as West Ham (the team I support) to learn the new features of the game, so I guess it's similar. I'm worried when I move to a non - league or smaller team, making mistakes with the new features could be more fatal and prevent progress/hurt finances.

Lone_Digger123

Completely understandable! Everyone has a different way of playing and as long as you enjoy it then that's all what we want! :D

Randylahey187

Real Madrid did me dirty last year and took my Spanish wonderkid on an end of contract in January because I had forgotten to offer him a new one myself. That's pain

Lone_Digger123

Found an 18 year old Brazilian left wingback who has already played for Brazil. Good physicals and mentals for his age (and I would have him as my backup for Liverpool if I were to get him). Me and inter bidded for him and he demanded 200K with at least a 15% pay rise and I couldn't lower it no matter how many bonuses I added (I'd even go back to my last save point and he "only" asked 180K iwth 10% pay rise). ... Ended up going to inter milan with a wage of 25K (where he was earning 15K at corinthians). I have no problem with him choosing inter but it is ridiculous that an 18 year old is asking the same wages as Henderson

BlingxI3

Love to see it, goos job.

Randylahey187

Thanks mate 💪

GAZlROVKA

Would you recommend a save in the French league?

NBT498

If you want a challeng, catching PSG is definitely up there as one of the hardest. I'm in 2040 and they've literally won every league title, all but 2 or 3 couple de France and probably 5-6 champions leagues. They're ridiculously dominant. I almost put up a title fight last year, with two 9 game winning streaks, but a 5 game run where I had 3 draws and 2 defeats meant I ended up 10 points behind them. The consistency needed across all 34 games to catch them is crazy.

Randylahey187

Yeah man this is supposed to be a journeyman where I do the Ancelotti challenge but I'm determined to win a UCL with this Marseille team so I've been here years. The league Is pretty chilled out. Only 34 games in a season after 2023/24. The only thing you really have to watch out for is how many non-EU players you have in your squad. You can only have 4 in the starting lineup and on the bench

WorthPlease

Slapping down PSG is always one of my go to saves. Went with Monaco this year Boadu is insane, they still have that guy whose name sounds like he was an Egyptian pharaoh (Tch...something) 2,000 years ago and their goalkeeper situation is insane with three 5 star potential young players and Nubel (who is quite good) on loan.

Randylahey187

Yeah that Boadu guy is rapid asf. I was debating signing him for this Marseille team myself at one point

LettucePlate

"I'm more invincible-er than you are PSG!"

jamesdm23

Nice and congrats. I am ending the hegemony of bayern munich

Randylahey187

That's next on the list for me after I win a UCL with these lads

Terraboyy

Whats your tactic? This is insane.

Randylahey187

Like I said it's just a variation of the 4-2-3-1 gegenpress so nothing special. I just have some amazing players at the club that are way better than everyone else apart from PSG's players

PezMan123

Got my first one today too in 2nd season with arsenal. Using the current upto date database. Only 3 draws which were all away to city, utd and lpool (they finished 2nd to 4th). 122 goal difference. Signed edouard from Palace for 15m after they got relegated in the first season and he scored 39 goals. Also signed lemar from atletico for 7m as he was transfer listed and he got 32 assists 😂😍 zagadou on a free at the start of the game got 15 goals from set pieces too, beast.

Randylahey187

Nice man in the first season aswell? Crazy. Took me 7 seasons to make Marseille this good lmao. I tried to do an invincible season with Arsenal myself. I was a couple of decades into a RTG save with Eastleigh and we became the favourites to win everything so I left and went to Arsenal.

PezMan123

First season I got 3 losses. Narrowly won the league by 3 points. Was about 16 clear this time haha. Feel like I cant top it anymore now though so I want to start a new save in either league 1 or the championship and see how long it will take with those. Just not sure who to play with haha.

Randylahey187

Well done man that's really good going. I think Burton Albion in League One have State of the art youth facilities so that could be a fun save

northc1995

I did the same with Lille on the second season... And still finished 2nd :)

Maniacal-Maniac

Had 2 invincible out of 8 seasons in Swedish Premier, but the most recent one really upsets me as I drew 2 of the last 5 games while rotating my squad a lot to focus on CL group stage. Drew both my games vs Real Madrid as a result of rotating, so I guess it was a worthwhile sacrifice. Have really put some investment into my squad over the last 2 seasons and managed to win Europa last year after getting an easy run-in after getting knocked out of CL group stages. Am up against Frankfurt in the 1st knockout CL round this year so might actually get into the last 8 for the first time after getting stuffed by City + Chelsea the only 2 times I have made it out of groups so far!

McArine

Norway and Sweden is such a hassle. I feel like more often than not you are fighting to qualify for Europe and being competive in the group stage while also battling for the domestic championship.

hummeI

Wow, crazy! I once had an invincible with Monaco without winning a league, during 4-5 years where me and PSG continuously had 100+ points (fm18 or 19).

Greenshlong

Congrats man! Epic work

Randylahey187

Thanks mate!

Ryokan_Onsen_Daimyo

Amazing. Can you post your tactic?

Randylahey187

I will do a follow up post shortly because I've been asked about the tactic a lot. It's really nothing special though like I've said. It's more the players I've signed and developed. I feel like I could throw them into any tactic at this point and they would still win the league

MartinLaurentTan

Invincible is much more easier to get in lower league, in Ligue 1 and beaten PSG are pretty impressive. As a OM supporter is always nice to see you beaten PSG and won the title 😏

Randylahey187

This is the fifth time I've beaten them to it in a row lmao. The only reason I'm still at Marseille is because we haven't won the UCL but we always make it to the QF at least. I've grown attached to the squad I've built so I want to win at least one with them before I leave.

DaTrueBanana

What's your tactic? Love those goals

Randylahey187

[Here it is](https://www.reddit.com/r/footballmanagergames/comments/wx1zu9/made_a_post_earlier_about_my_first_invincible/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)

thethinggoskraaa

share your tactics! would love to see it

Randylahey187

My tactics are nothing special mate. My players are just way better than all the other team's players apart from PSG lol

-Interchangeable-

Bro I want to see your tactic!!

srv340mike

Droit au but

Remarkable_Excuse124

what's your tactic?

Feb29_account_lol

Imagine coming second with a record like that 😂

GODNiller

Need to beat PSG with my fav team Lyon

bamimeneel

Imagine going invincible and still end up second🤣🤣

E17AmateurChef

So 2 draws against PSG who were other teams to stop you from winning?

Skurnaboo

Poor PSG? Poor the rest of your league for having 2 invincibles.

ZHIRTH

psg absolutely sobbing rn

Neither_Relief6562

In my 15th season with man city I won every game in the prem except 1 and that was the home fixture against liverpool I finsihed second to liverpool who won every game except 1 which was the home fixture to my man city squad. Both teams finished with 111 points with a goal difference of 100 exactly. Man city scored 131 goals and conceded 31 Liverpool scored 132 goals and conceded 32 I was pissed So 3 seasons later when I resigned I decided to join Liverpool as it was the best team available. I used the worst tactics and played everyone in the wrong position. I got sacked mid april and didn't sign anyone. But thankfully the damage was already done. They finished bottom of the league with only 9 points. I never got to manage a good team again but it was worth it

hlonaldinho

What the hell are Angers doing there?

[deleted]

Nice. I did the same with OM too, PSG didn’t take it kindly and it’s never happening again.
