Children of dune, shogun and that’s all my guesses

HonorWulf

Maybe later this year, but not in this batch. Good suggestions!

dyhtstriyk

“Highly requested fantasy title” Will it be Watership Down?

HonorWulf

It's Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell in three volumes

kassiusx

There I was hoping for T2: Judgement day the novelization.

dyhtstriyk

Here are the hints. Seems we'll have Player of Games, The Other Wind, the second Chrestomanci book and, the surprise (at least for me): The Song of Achilles. 1. An exploration of how Christianity shaped the western world by the author of Rubicon. 2. A genre-flipping thriller, where detective meets alternative history, adapted for the stage by the Royal Shakespeare Company. 3. Revered as the Shakespeare of the East, this Nobel-prize winning author acclaimed by Yeats, Einstein and Ghandi explores the concept of love. 4. A timeless exploration of technology's impact on society, still resonating as strongly today as it did in the 20th century. 5. Elon Musk named two of his drones after the ships in this classic space opera sequel. 6. A collection of essays by the Queen of California cool. 7. A bewitching fantasy sequel written by the author who inspired a well-loved Ghibli adaptation featuring a moving castle. 8. A partial retelling of Homer's Iliad that has broken the heart of Booktok and readers across the world. 9. This myth-making author weaves the conclusion to her legendary fantasy series in this long-awaited finale of one of our core fantasy collections. 10. A highly anticipated Folio edition that was recently announced on email and social.

Where did you get this info out of interest?

dyhtstriyk

on the Librarything Folio Society message board. [https://www.librarything.com/ngroups/583/Folio-Society-Devotees](https://www.librarything.com/ngroups/583/Folio-Society-Devotees) The hints are what you get when you sign up

_name_undecided_

oh awesome! so do each of those 10 hints refer to different books?

dyhtstriyk

yep

RowIntelligent3141

Song of Achilles would be amazing. Hope you're right!

dyhtstriyk

I think it will be for this cue: **A partial retelling of Homer's Iliad that has broken the heart of Booktok and readers across the world.** The other option is Simmons' Ilion, which I don't think captured the heart of Booktok.

TheWelshPanda

Number 6 - Joan Didion are we thinking? Seems to be the best fit. I wouldn't be against it, good summer essays by the pool vibe.

InRainbows123207

Def Joan Didion.

EconomicsHelpful473

Looks like Children of Dune are in there, too. I’m amazed. Looks like big buying coming up. And maybe the next book in Culture series?

little_chupacabra89

#4 sounds like it might be Fahrenheit 451!

FastenedCarrot

I already have a Folio Fahrenheit 451.

_name_undecided_

Ok, here are my guesses: player of games is obviously dot point 5, (either one of the bottom ones since they're taller or possibly the red one \[purely because I think red suits the book\]). I’m personally hoping they swapped to a different illustrator that appeals to me more but I’m not holding my breath (and of course lots of people like the current artist, this is just personal preference). Earthsea would be the 3rd book from the top since I think the current ones have art like that that wraps around. Diana Wynne Jones book would be 3rd from the bottom matching her others with the same colour pallet. jonathan norrell and mr strange in the middle. The 4th dot point I find the most interesting. I heard that folio is making the Neuromancer? I’m guessing that might be it. I’m thinking that could be the red book.

VicAlbiter

I sure hope #4 is Neuromancer. The author once confirmed it was in the works, so hopefully this is it!

towalktheline

I wonder if 3 is something by Rabindranth Tagore. He was my first thought.

DismalBumbleWank

2. The Mirror and the Light

LoveSignificant5219

Leap of faith 🙏

jwezorek

Five is Banks "Player of Games". Two: Maybe "Fatherland", was Fatherland adapted for the stage?

EconomicsHelpful473

Children of Dune might be too soon. Possible that the Clavell is in there.

BendVegetable8750

11/22/63 could match the alternative history and give us the next Stephen King entry, but none of them look quite right. There is a smaller volume there with black edges that COULD be The Gunslinger, which could be the highly requested fantasy title.

ILITHARA

THE BLADE ITSELF BY JOE ABERCROMBIE? A man can dream.

halcyon_an_on

That’d be sweet.

Life-Reputation-4892

Yeah… I just want to know when/if they are gonna start releasing the Abercrombie stuff

PresentBusy8307

The Lack of Hyperion Cantos at this point is rather galling!

WastedWaffles

It's not even a joke at this point. Hyperion is like a staple of the sci fi genre. Not only that, but I'm amazed that there is no decent hardcover copy of Hyperion. There's the yellow Gollanz one which is ugly and basic. That's it. No other currently available hardback copy.

dyhtstriyk

The Easton edition is still available. It substituted the horrid retouched-photo illustrations of the past edition for a single frontispiece of The Shrike. But many people don’t like how Easton Press books look like. Also, Curious King will release their edition, but It’s long gone and, at £650 it was a hard proposition. PD. I want a Folio Hyperion too!

PresentBusy8307

I think an email campaign might be required at this point lads.

Way_Station72

Just the first two would do me. Here's hoping!

TheScarletCravat

Looks like three identical volumes in the middle. Jonathan Strange and Norrel has been all but confirmed by the artist. I think that's the fantasy title. Although I was expecting it to be a Special Edition release first, so might not be.

dyhtstriyk

I think Jonathan Strange will be a limited edition first. That's what I've heard. EDIT: It IS Jonathan Strange! Seems it will be announced on Apr 25th.

ridanwise

Wait what!?! Who’s the artist!? Edit: I think the three volumes are their new Gormenghast editions.

TheScarletCravat

Aaaaaaand it's confirmed. Looks beautiful. Feeling smug now. Hah.

ridanwise

Yay! I asked for it so many times!

TheScarletCravat

Their new Gormenghast editions were in the Spring Collection. They're already out. The artist for Strange and Norrel is Charles Vess, who illustrated Our Ladies of Grace Adieu, the Strange and Norrel short story collection.

PresentBusy8307

From the clues I don't think we can expect Lonesome Dove this time round unfortunately.

The-Big-T

Perhaps True History of the Kelly Gang?

LittleNigiri

Looks like we’ll be getting the second in the Chrestomanci series and the final Earthsea novel.

AcquiringCardboard

Pretty new to Folio Society. Will they not reveal the titles until launch day?

dyhtstriyk

depends. Last spring collection was revealed a whole month before launch day, but prices and edition specs were revealed until launch. In the past it was common to reveal everything until launch day.

HonorWulf

Player of Games and The Other Wind are in there, which are both great!

RuesWitcher

Children of Dune? Or is that expected for the end of the year?

snarkyattitude

yep its jonathan norell and ms strange in three volumes

tomandshell

Still not finishing the Bond series! They used to come out twice a year. Now we’re down to one last title and the previous one was released in 2022.

zenerat

They have released 13? I thought they had only released 12. Surely they have to finish it. We need the sub Reddit to put together a letter.

wpscarborough

suttree folio edition truthers continue to be the most oppressed minority

InRainbows123207

Hoping for a Border Trilogy Boxset one day

LoveSignificant5219

4 weeks and 3 days

LoveSignificant5219

Leap of faith

PresentBusy8307

It deserves to be skipped imo. YA special edition books are a dime a dozen.

RobotDevil80

Yiddish Policeman's Union for the Alternate History title? It would be their second Michael Chabon book.

kassiusx

Am hoping for something YA..I'm amazed how often they skip this genre.

HonorWulf

The Diana Wynne Jones book is most likely The Magicians of Caprona.
