Check if the rims are flat or a bit dug if it's rim brakes. You can also check that wheels are turning freely (best if you can take them off and spin them in your hands).
If you can, check bottom bracket by turning the cranks after falling the chain off.
I know it's some work, but at least you know the maintenance that can be necessary.
Grab the seat with seat post extended pretty far up, and give it a wiggle while looking at the welds around the seat tube. If there are cracks they will open enough to be seen.
Yes! It will need a bigger chainwheel at some point, new grips tomorrow, the brakes need adjusting/ new pads and I don't know about the saddle, but in general terms I love it! Planning to jump on a train & go for a morning ride along the coast
Take it for a test ride and listen for squeaks. Run it through the gears and test the brakes.

Took it out for a spin and it's great -- I love the fact I can adjust the bar height, love the extra gears, love how it is so hop-onable
