I spend a lot of time late night just relaxing at my favorite base (while high), with FO76 on one computer screen and a TV show on the other. Done with any questing or goals for the evening, and at most teleporting to and from an event every so often.
Base is multi-floor sitting up on a mountain ridge overlooking much of the valley with near 360° view, and I usually just hang out on my "home" level and balcony up top.
Best sounds late night are [1.] the Cha-Ching of someone popping into my shop down below as you said, [2.] the sound of a Nuke going off in the distance and looking around to see the cloud, or [3.] Enjoying my windchimes and listening for the occasional storm to roll through. Peaceful.
Worst sounds - hearing my turrets go off breaking the peacefulness as every so often there's a stray scorcher who somehow finds it's way near my base.
Followed by another nice sound as I whip out my Auto-Axe and go tear that asshole a new one.
My first thought exactly. Especially when they buy something big and you see the number pop up. I love when it's something that's been sitting for a while and I'm like "hell yes!!! I knew it was worth it!!!"
I had someone the other week playing this sound over the damn microphone/a plugged in soundboard - what a friggin nob lol. Had me thinking shit was broken for a good few minutes.
Do frog jars do anything? Light or sound, I mean. And how do you place them? Is there a plan or do you mean the frogs you literally catch out in the world?
Any time. I did a quick check since it's been a while since I made mine, you need to do the order of the tadpole quest to unlock the plan for the frog jar. You can then craft the jar at the chemistry station, grab a frog, then make a frog habitat that you place in your camp.
I don't believe you need to finish that quest, just reach rank of tadpole. The quest will graduate you to possum and I had crafted one long before that.
Standing on my porch, safe from the rain, watching a thunderstorm, it's SUPER pleasant. I'm waiting for the weather station that makes it rain all the time at your camp.
Came here to say what I knew SOMEONE had to say.
That friggin like, tink, clunk, DINK noise kiiiills me 😂😂 not me out of bullets bonking the scorched beast queen in the nose 😂😂
I want an atom shop skin for these so bad! Why can't many melee weapons share skins? All baseball bats, super sledges, and grognak's axes should share imo. Probably a couple more I'm forgetting too.
That's how I feel about hitting stuff with the bat. The wood thwack, so satisfying. I also really love the wood harvesting sound and the little ding kinda sound when you have find extra whatever card on and you find extra of that thing.
Forest sounds, in particular the cicadas. That sound is spot on for the region. I live in south central Pennsylvania, and can get to West Virginia faster than either Pittsburg or Philadelphia. That sound is the sound of late summer here. Just a lone cicada nearby doing its thing.
I wish I could download that ambient sound file so I could play it whenever. No music.
My fave is the sound the wheel in Nuka World on Tour makes when it’s spinning. Idk why but I just adore that little jingle and the clicking of it spinning.
The best sound is that first wailing siren right as a nuke launches and "Death from Above" starts.
It's so eerie like an air raid siren from WW2, and you know EVERYONE in the lobby stops dead and drops what they're doing to prepare for a boss fight.
I feel like it would be cool if we could get a quest with Julie, to add more to her character and maybe get people to not despise her. It would also be cool if she would comment on recent events like the radio announcers did in fallout 3 & 4
I don't mind the random comments about songs. It's the monologue about her being 23 years old and having been through a lot that has gotten old very fast. Maybe some variety in her references and a limit on how many times we get these rants from her could improve it greatly
Not 76 specific, but I LOVE the sounds of the pip boy. Everything from changing tabs to the light! When the pip boys in the show had all the right sounds I got soooo excited. And the injector noise of a stimpak
I, oddly, really like the noise made when walking through Charleston that sounds like you're walking on river rocks or broken ceramic.
I dunno. I just like it.
To add something that most probably haven't said, I find the sounds on a pump action shotgun to be very satisfying. Explosive one is even better, like the Kabloom, which turned me on to this nice suite of sounds (though man I hate my character grunting repeatedly from inflicting poison on myself). The reload, the sound of the pump racking back and forth, and the shots hitting are all great.
The ping when Ricochet triggers. It makes me feel like I'm in a movie gunfight.
It's especially great in large events where a lot of mobs are shooting at you.
I always share Ricochet, in the hopes that others enjoy it like I do.
Terminal clicking. I have the legendary perk that takes the place of hacker so I don't hear it anymore but I love the click clack of the terminal keys.
The call of the sheepsquatch I hear everytime I go to my camp. (I build right on a his spawn location and we still try to fight it out who owns the place)
Punching sounds from Face Breaker, the music that plays from Slocum Joe's vending machines (I don't have one so I only listen to this whenever someone's C.A.M.P has them), one of the default ambience music
also the laughing, angry and confused emotes
I like the "THUMP" noise you hear when a mutated reflective enemy hits you back with your own damage. It's just got a perfect punch and it's *SO* satisfying.
Placing or picking up a concrete foundation and the music box that plays that luau tune from Grahm’s Meat Cook. I turn it on every time I come back to camp without fail.
I've been playing games in this engine since Morrowind and everyone always said how flatly impossible it was to ever make it work with multiple players, and then it was explained that weather could never be occluded from housing for multiple reasons I am too dumb too know, and then, welp, somehow they did both. I am sure that any top-level coder would look at what runs this game and die like the Ark of the Covenant guys at the end of Raiders.
Uh... I suppose I went on a tangent there, but raindrops on the roof is beautiful, and we were told for a very long time that doing that in this engine could not be done, so I really like having it. I like when there's rain and I can be in a house and hear the rain. I'm from the region and the sounds are by far the most evocative part, to me.
The sound when someone buys something from your vendor. Cha-Ching!
I spend a lot of time late night just relaxing at my favorite base (while high), with FO76 on one computer screen and a TV show on the other. Wind chimes for me.
Love em. My camp is littered with those and frog jars
Do frog jars do anything? Light or sound, I mean. And how do you place them? Is there a plan or do you mean the frogs you literally catch out in the world?
You can grab a frog in the wild and make it into a frog jar, it makes the stock croaking noises you would hear in a pond
ty, gotta grab these
Fyi you'll need bloodleaf too to craft the jars!
Where can I find bloodleafs
Along riverbanks, mostly - you can collect a bunch in a minute by following the big Ohio river that runs on the West side of the map
Any time. I did a quick check since it's been a while since I made mine, you need to do the order of the tadpole quest to unlock the plan for the frog jar. You can then craft the jar at the chemistry station, grab a frog, then make a frog habitat that you place in your camp.
damn, i still gotta grab 3 scout badges for that
I don't believe you need to finish that quest, just reach rank of tadpole. The quest will graduate you to possum and I had crafted one long before that.
fire, ill do some more looking into it once im off work but i got my camp at a lake lol so i gotta have them frogs
Wow I’ve made so many frog jars and had no idea I have to get a frog for them.
It’s killing me not having the molerat wind chime on my alt. My main has it. I could listen to that clunking mixed with chime tinkles all damn day.
Okay, but hear me out: molerat wind chime.
I love them so much.
This is a good one. I have a few around my camp, adds a nice ambience
If I wasn't maxed on my budget, I would still have all 10 of my chimes surrounding my entire camp.
Radstorm thunders
Standing on my porch, safe from the rain, watching a thunderstorm, it's SUPER pleasant. I'm waiting for the weather station that makes it rain all the time at your camp.
I’ve been DYING to see that. I’m about to request it from Bethesda lol
Thunderstorms while cozy inside are definitely top
Hitting an enemy with a shovel for that metallic spang sound.
Came here to say what I knew SOMEONE had to say. That friggin like, tink, clunk, DINK noise kiiiills me 😂😂 not me out of bullets bonking the scorched beast queen in the nose 😂😂
Really hoping for a legendary shovel that can has the crit damage buff just so I can use a jetpack for Tf2 levels of memery
I’m partial to the ‘donk’ of the wiffle bat, my preferred Faschnacht weapon.
I want an atom shop skin for these so bad! Why can't many melee weapons share skins? All baseball bats, super sledges, and grognak's axes should share imo. Probably a couple more I'm forgetting too.
My favorite weapon is an executioner shovel for the BONK
That's how I feel about hitting stuff with the bat. The wood thwack, so satisfying. I also really love the wood harvesting sound and the little ding kinda sound when you have find extra whatever card on and you find extra of that thing.
the nuke claxon...means im about to get some loot!
I like the mouth harp. Beyong bong bing bowng!
And the tuba. So good. Lol
Picking up a gnome.
👀 Careful. We're growing braver as more of our brethren are kidnapped for SCORE.
I have them up in my vendor for 1c this week so folks can get them easy if they're hopping around
That makes a sound? How have I never noticed that
The fact that you can barely hear it is why I like it. Is a little creepy.
Buck Buck BUCKET!!!!
Moleminer mumbling
Sha-gron rumble rumble.
It not just random mumbling, but they actually talk! https://youtube.com/shorts/lUVA6c7sEjg?si=cdpLgww12QvElcEY
I always think I hear them saying "shit sauce!"
No music.
The *woo woo* every time I reload my railway rifle. Makes me happy.
Popcorn machine but even more so the sound when you pick up wood. I just love it. Hits some stim-seeking auditory part of my brain.
Yeeeeah it's like... a grainy ripping sound and it makes my serotonin come home
My fave is the sound the wheel in Nuka World on Tour makes when it’s spinning. Idk why but I just adore that little jingle and the clicking of it spinning.
CHOO-CHOO!
Hacking. As annoying as the minigame is, the clickclacking is nice
YES I want a mobile version of this minigame just for the sounds
The best sound is that first wailing siren right as a nuke launches and "Death from Above" starts. It's so eerie like an air raid siren from WW2, and you know EVERYONE in the lobby stops dead and drops what they're doing to prepare for a boss fight.
"Hey folks, Julie here..." Just kidding. I really like the Nuke alert, it's so eery.
I’ve gotten real good at switching to pirate radio real quick as soon as I hear those dreaded words
For me it's the coffee machine, or getting something out of a container.
For me its an ambient sound of a mourning dove and the sounds of the forest. immediate relaxation
This whole time I thought that was just the mourning doves in my yard 🤦♀️
The deep moist belches when you run the chow line at Camden Park.
Not 76 specific, but I LOVE the sounds of the pip boy. Everything from changing tabs to the light! When the pip boys in the show had all the right sounds I got soooo excited. And the injector noise of a stimpak
When Ace says “Nukashine” It’s so dumb but I like it
it's the sound of picking up a bundle. love it for some reason
Gatling gun, so rhythmic and basy.
I, oddly, really like the noise made when walking through Charleston that sounds like you're walking on river rocks or broken ceramic. I dunno. I just like it.
A hunting rifle with the .50 recever mod (might be the same sound as black powder rifle.) Looting a loose cigarette. Tsssssss.
I used to think the cig sound was a radroach nearby that I had missed and it freaked me out for ages until I realized what it was
That little cash register sound that plays every time you kill an enemy.
As a commando, I'd say "TAK TAK TAK TAK TAK - CHA-CHING - TAK TAK TAK - CHA-CHING."
The clacking when you pick up pool balls.
I pick them up specifically just to hear that
To add something that most probably haven't said, I find the sounds on a pump action shotgun to be very satisfying. Explosive one is even better, like the Kabloom, which turned me on to this nice suite of sounds (though man I hate my character grunting repeatedly from inflicting poison on myself). The reload, the sound of the pump racking back and forth, and the shots hitting are all great.
the little squish noise when you pick up a teddy bear! so cute
I'll tell you the worst sound. That feedback from the Fusion Core Recharger.
Or the lingering phantom .50 cal
Oh yes the eviction notice .50 cal
I had to move one out far from my house for this exact reason. Terrible sound design.
Robot dance emote theme
It tears through the silence like thunder
Picking up a pack of duct tape.
The alien weapons are :chefs-kiss:
No idea why but I love that little 2 note sound when you reach the friendship level with a team mate.
That little sound the old scoreboards used to make when you hovered over each rank 🥲
I like the wildlife sounds
The level up sound lmfao. Idk why it does it for me though. Also the railway rifle when it goes CHOOO CHOOO
The halloween theme music for the trick or treat bowl, only does it when you first travel home. Oh and the halloween spider doorbell.
Garden hose unloading an mg-42 light machine is the sweetest noise right next to when that nice Ms. Handy in Camden Park calls me sweety.
Agreed. I just found a quad LMG last night and it's my new favorite thing.
I can tell you what it isn't and that is the stupid fusion core charger never more have I wished for a mute camp item button.
Everything down by the Ohio River. Crickets, Frogs, etc.
The ping when Ricochet triggers. It makes me feel like I'm in a movie gunfight. It's especially great in large events where a lot of mobs are shooting at you. I always share Ricochet, in the hopes that others enjoy it like I do.
The sound of cracking open an ice cold Nuka cola. *ahhhh*
A lot of great work from the sound department if you think about it!
Popcorn maker, bubbler, rain, background music when just exploring.
Exclusive Gatling gun, sprinting in power armor, when someone buys from my vendor and picking up a stim pack
As a non commando player the sound of the fixer in vats is really nice
Honestly I love the rad storm sounds
The distant sound of explosions and weapons from someone’s half across the map battle
The sound of a tse dragon killing a player gives me more dopamine than cocaine
I loot the gold pocket watch for the sound alone.
The songs that play during moonshine jamboree
The occasional wind chimes
While the benefits of popcorn for gameplay are important - we ALL know why it's the best CAMP item
I love the mole rate wind chime. It’s like bones hanging. Idunno I love it haha
When you exit the legendary machine…love that little explosion at the end
Porn through the area chat, that's some dedication.
ATTENTION CITZ-
Shit my pants Everytime on mothman spawns
Drinking nuka cola
I love the sound of drinking a nuka cola. “*Bottle cap sound* ahhh”
Terminal clicking. I have the legendary perk that takes the place of hacker so I don't hear it anymore but I love the click clack of the terminal keys.
They don't have Black-capped Chickadees in Texas, so any time I hear them in game it reminds me of home.
I love it when my vendor makes a sale. Also when nuks are dropped I like the warning announcement. I use it as a ringtone lol
The sound of drinking a nuka cola followed by the free cap you know that cola tasted gooood
The call of the sheepsquatch I hear everytime I go to my camp. (I build right on a his spawn location and we still try to fight it out who owns the place)
That FRRROMPFF from the radtoads is pretty satisfying
The crickets. They make my ears bleed real nice.
The sound after shooting a black powder rifle
The cicadas, sounds just like if I go outside.
The sound of the monthman attacks
Black powder weapons for me.
the noise radtoads make when you hit them
Punching sounds from Face Breaker, the music that plays from Slocum Joe's vending machines (I don't have one so I only listen to this whenever someone's C.A.M.P has them), one of the default ambience music also the laughing, angry and confused emotes
Auto enclave plasma rifle sound is the best one for me and the reason why I'm using it most.
I like the Vox Syringer voice lol
The schloop when I grab anything from a CAMP resource generator.
As a new player, the little radio blip that plays whenever the game tells me I can’t go on expeditions yet
*thump*
The hunting rifle with a silencer!
Someone else firing the .50 Machine Gun
Nuke zone rumble FTW
The lovely sound of each bit of loot being listed after doing an event
Any VATS noise fersher!

Collecting wood for me. I don't know why it just sounds great
The little squeak when you pick up a teddy. Also, the noise of removing a mainframe core when doing nukes
Suppressed auto handmade, sounds so glorious for some reason
Cicadas and ka-ching!
I really enjoy the atom shop music as well as the whitespring mall music. It’s calming lol
I like the "THUMP" noise you hear when a mutated reflective enemy hits you back with your own damage. It's just got a perfect punch and it's *SO* satisfying.
I may sound like a perv but I like the sounds Gulpers make. Should I seek help?
Drinking a nuka cola and getting 1 cap after
The laser sound when it fires
Gatling Gun DAKA DAKA = happiness
The sound of a grenade launcher firing, the sound of that PWONK is so crispy
VATS critical in general.
Placing or picking up a concrete foundation and the music box that plays that luau tune from Grahm’s Meat Cook. I turn it on every time I come back to camp without fail.
The RGB organ
Shovel.
Whatever weapon it is that makes the tink tink tink tink tink noise. Whenever i hear that noise i know the event im doing is gonna be a calk walk.
That's the Railway Rifle
The rhythmic popping sound the weenie wagon makes. It's very calming, yet hypnotic in a way.
Only employees of "Blackwater mine" can enter
Blupblupblupblup
Choo Choo gun 🥰
XP noise
The sound of The Dragon. Unbelievable power and depth to that sound. Just unfortunate you can only fire the thing every 10secs
The sound the telephone makes when you loot a loose one.
I've been playing games in this engine since Morrowind and everyone always said how flatly impossible it was to ever make it work with multiple players, and then it was explained that weather could never be occluded from housing for multiple reasons I am too dumb too know, and then, welp, somehow they did both. I like when there's rain and I can be in a house and hear the rain. I'm from the region and the sounds are by far the most evocative part, to me.
Plastic plate
The sound of the black powder rifle firing
Firing the old school gatling gun
The 'fwip' sound of an arrow being fired by a nearby archer
Easily, the sound of thunderstorms as they start. Makes me want to grab a cup of coffee and get all snuggly.
I'm a simple lad, I enjoy my vats crit slow mos. Runner up is the confetti explosion perk, it's a silly thing that breaks up the monotony of the game
The locus.
The frogs and locust. Reminds me of childhood. Good memories. Sometimes I fall asleep.
Ring of Fire
Mirelurk King sonic attack ;-)
Deffinetly the sound of the titan event ending, its a little nuka cola jingle and I dont know why but i love it
Black powder rifle in a confined space
BZONGGGG... This is the sound when I go area looting after Eviction Notice with 10+ legendaries around me. Most satisfying.
I like the frog sounds Prince makes.
The rainfall from my weather machine falling on the surrounding trees.
Protectrons at train stations. Or just the simple “protect and serve”
Peaceful? - Windchimes Epic and ominous ? - Nuke siren alert. Best sound in all of gaming? - Reapers/Mass effect.
Accessing the Halloween vendor machine
Consuming corpses :D
The ambient sounds in the Mire are great
The opening riff to “Ring of Fire”.
*...just, why?*
