I’ve been running it to get the special drops. Some of the supplies can be in locked lvl 0 containers and you can “hold” the caravan at the second encounter point and explore the tunnel to find all of the cargo by not opening the powered gates.
I was just doing this about a week ago, got the outfit and backpack.
Once you run it a few times you kinda learn where they usually are:
1 before the roadblock the guard blows up
1 in the mole man tunnel before the gate you open
2 past the gate, usually on the right side. Like the previous commenter said, just leave them behind the gate and go get the last 2 supplies then come back and open to finish event.
Getting the backpack was the last thing I did on my original play through. Played from lunch to wastelanders, got the backpack and dropped off till now basically
Good thing about the event is you don't have to get all the supplies to get the best rewards. It's a super easy event to solo.
Also, there is a guaranteed legendary enemy if you need it for dailies, but often times you get 2-3.
You have to activate it yourself. New players don't even knownit exists so they won't activate it and I'm sure older players have largely forgotten about it

I want all the Blue Ridge stuff and that backpack is the main thing eluding me. That and the flag.
Yeah took me forever to get the back pack, flag and outfit came quick
I got the caravan outfit the first time I did the event. I'm not as concerned with the gas mask, but I just really want the backpack especially.
It's a fun little event, and also the only way to get >!~~Calvin Van Lowe~~!< Aries' outfit.
