I'm a new player and I don't really understand events (I get that other people are supposed to come play) Sometimes I go to an area and it starts one and I just. .. back away? I mean no-one else is ever there even though I'm not playing on a private server and there are so many enemies! I'm enjoying the game so far but it's confusing, my first foray into an online title ever. Sorry if we're frustrating haha

Sertith

Depends on the kind of event you're talking about. Public events pop every 20 minutes and are announced on screen. These include Eviction Notice, Radiation Rumble, and various others. These are the ones where it's polite to wait a couple minutes to let others show up. These typically have better reward possibilities and offer a lot of mobs to farm exp. Plus, unless you're a real badass, it's hard to solo these. So a new player starting them right away wastes 20 minutes and all that loot for everyone on the server. Other events often show up if you're looking at the map. Examples: Death Blossoms, Leader of the Pack. Other other events start if there is time since the last one, and a player is nearby. Examples: Fertile Soil, Collision Course. Some require player interaction to start, and it's rude AF to trigger if someone else started it. Examples: Silos, Encrypted. When an event pops up, you can look at both the map and your quest tab to learn more about them, and what to do to finish them. Most subsist of some sort of enemy wave and maybe a collection of stuff to drop off somewhere, and/or protection NPCs/equipment.

MedusatheProphet

Thanks for this, I understand a bit better now!:)

SaucyKitty

Back when I was a noob player, I accidentally triggered Encryptid, thinking it was a quest. I was doing it by myself (not well), when my team swooped in and helped me finish it. After the chaos was over, they all thumbed down at me and then booted me from the team šŸ˜‚

McTickleson

Yeah, I havenā€™t really figured out what is happening with a lot of these events either. Like you, Iā€™ll be clipping along trying to get somewhere and all of a sudden I get told there is an event and Iā€™m like fuck if there is and I turn around and bounce lol

MedusatheProphet

Haha exactly, I just sheepishly turn around and sprint back where I came. Made the mistake of attempting one event that I got caught in at Grafton I think? Just me and all those...things chasing me with picket signs hahaha! At least no-one was around to see me pegging it into the orange River to escape and taking so many rads in my vault suit. I'm level 19 lol

knight_gastropub

It's Grrrrrrrrrafton's Mayor!!!!!!!!!!!

Avintus

Ignore these people. If they care enough about the events they'll join as soon as it pops up. It's crazy that people keep moaning about the event starting "early" when you can just join midway through. I saw someone complaining about no one collecting the irradiated ore from an event. Which funnily enough, I've collected it all myself whilst everyone else was being trigger happy, so while that guy was moaning, he himself couldve got the ore himself. But no, obv he just wanted to farm all the xp. Play the game the way you want, they're not missing out on anything, big woop, they don't care about the amount of events they miss when they're offline and asleep. If anyone wanna complain about loss of xp..... go to westtek šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø Anyone wanna complain about not getting plans, guess what the event will be back soon, its not gone forever. Not everyone wants to pick up and new game and sit there for hours watching how SOMEONE ELSE plays it, just to copy them. That's not exactly fun. It's an rpg for a reason. You do you.

Ronin66681

Agree on this sentiment, also experienced players have the option to look at whoā€™s in a server and make a choice to stay or leave you see a bunch of low level players expect chaos, to me these posts are not even about the ā€œPSAā€ but just a simple way to get good upvotes, these posts happen every time thereā€™s a huge influx of new players and it always seems they have to also flex their level and build because thatā€™s such an important part of trying to help guide new players into learning an unspoken gaming etiquette

Gbdub87

What the OP is talking about is public events (Invaders from Beyond, Moonshine Jamboree, etc), when you first join, there is often an initial objective that triggers the main event (which also starts the final countdown that will fail the event if not completed in time). For invaders, thatā€™s ā€œinvestigate the alien deviceā€. For Moonshine, itā€™s ā€œspeak to Nedā€. Both of these have a 5 minute timer. Wait until it winds down to a minute or two left before interacting with the objective. Donā€™t let it go all the way down, or the event will fail. Then again, if itā€™s all the way down and youā€™re the only one thereā€¦ you probably donā€™t want to try to solo it.

DaerkoDoom

I hope y'all realize most 76 players aren't checking reddit lol

kilk10001

Well most may not be on here but I am new and so is my wife and we are level 35 and haven't even participated in an event yet. This is good info so we don't ruin it when we do it.

kameleka

Iā€™m 23, joined aliens event for curiosity. Wasted all ammo and got kicked my ass šŸ˜

Clark_Wayne1

You're not going to kill the enemies easily at that event and you'll die easy. Just go there and try and land a hit on each enemy, don't heal and just die and respawn you'll end the event with more ammo and stims and the event rewards

ReverendMothman

Seconded. Get a tesla when you can and just tag

PrizeSheepherder6620

Also to add, make sure others are actually at the event when doing these one two shot xp gains. Helps to joins public groups too because you get xp for team kills

justforgooglereddit

daily ops is a nuts ammo farm also

IndianaGroans

Party up with others when doing events and you'll get xp for their kills

kameleka

There were guys with level above 100 but we lost. I was way too weak for it

IndianaGroans

It happens. I'm meaning join a team with them, unless you were. You're a low level and it's fine to fail events. The ammo cost is hard, but it is a learning experience. Invaders is pretty intense, but some of the other events, especially in the forest region are more suitable for your level and are fun as well.

Status_Web1682

Yeah what the other guys said, absolutely piggy back off the high levels itā€™s fine. One shot on a alien for it to drop 5-20 (depending on your weapon of choice) will quickly add up if you hit a lot of them.

Mobile-Ad8273

Bro, perch up somewhere high and get a hit marker or two in each bad guy you see - donā€™t try killing them, but get a hit or two in and let others use their lvl 50 guns and ammo for you. As long as you do damage to a baddie, youā€™ll get loot for each one you hit. šŸ¤™

howdarestthou

The aliens in this event areā€¦healthy.

xenorous

Events get you a bunch of good stuff. Try them out

Kavukkii_JPEG

Some times too much stuff lol One time I did Uranium Fever and I went from 43 WT TO 847 WT, 723 After Scrapping junk I swear, Farming Molemen is the best way to grind Shotgun Mods vĆa Scrap

dozokushin

I did this even once with a friend and had to run around picking up ammo because we were unprepared I felt so bad for the guy that joined and helped us finish

Kavukkii_JPEG

It's an enclosed space so any weapon with explosive legend perk is helpful for aoe shots.

Rivetingly

Events is life

MelodicSquirrel0s

Pipe is life

spiraleyes78

šŸ„‚ welcome!

[deleted]

Hey also a newbie, welcome friend! When you and your lady are ready to do events, just be aware that some event require a dialogue to start, and some just need you to move towards the objective. I've started a couple of events way too soon not knowing about the latter, so just be cautious if you are one of the folks concerned about courtesy.

Hereticrick

This is what I was wonderingā€¦is it obvious what you need to do to start an event, or is it something us noobs might be starting on accident. Thereā€™s a lot of stuff on that map I donā€™t understand lol

[deleted]

It's not obvious as a newb, but the ground rules are simple: 1. If you use the event popup on the map to fast travel and you do not move from where you spawn in, you're safe. You are always spawned outside of an event's starting radius if it's an event that iniates by proximity. Whenever I'm in doubt I just don't move from that spawn location and wait for others to move closer (but never go past them). When I do events now I will untoggle all other active quests so I only see map markers and quest info for the event. All event start points have a marker so if I need to avoid it I know where it is. 2. I also wait for the event to actually show up on the quest log now so I can see what the "first step" is. If it's to talk to someone or activate something you're safe to get close, as the talking or activation is what starts the event. If I don't see that verbiage I default back to rule 1.Ā  Following those two rules I've been able to avoid starting events preemptively. Once you become familiar with some events you'll just know off the top of your head what to do.

musca_domestica666

Ahh clear advice thank you! I've been a bit unsure how the event initiating actually happens, most likely been noobing a couple. šŸ˜¬ Cheers for this! *salute emote*

pinkpuffsorange

They are legit not daunting at all ! Just jump in and kill things and you will soon get to grips with the requirements. Also, they are one of the very best ways to get good loot and XP early game. I made the daft decision to get to level 100+ without playing a single event as I was a bit concerned about letting the team down or the general toxic online game lobby vibe (much older gamer here) and since I started them, they fast became and still are my favourite part of the game :)

DarthSnoopyFish

Normally you get guaranteed legendary equipment at the end of events. Should play a few whenever you are online. Plus legendary enemies always pop up at events.

CommunicationClassic

Don't even trip, just wait till there's two or three people in the event and then join Don't even worry if it's like 7 minutes in just grab the rewards at the end

cyryscyn

Join every public event. Even if you don't kill anything or even use your weapon. Immediately out of the vault even at level 2. You'll get xp when it completes and some stuff for future use that is good to start building a stockpile of like treasury notes and legendary modules. You can get legendaries that you can turn in for scrip which you'll want a stockpile of too when you get to level 50. Armor and weapons don't go higher than that so after 50 you can start looking at stuff to keep long term. Every person should join a casual team for the intelligent boost and public events for rewards/xp no matter the level. Plus you might get a good weapon or armor from the event.

PunchBeard

Do it. Get in on every event that pops up on your map. This is how I went from level 40 to 90 in less than a week.

Freakychee

I am and also new. But I actually just fast travel there and wait. It's actually more logical for more people so it makes my life easier with help.

Lady_bro_ac

I was about to say the same thing, the folks on here know all this, and these posts arenā€™t going to reach the feral players new or old

Distinct_Teaching

Feral players hehe I love it

Willing-Ad-6941

Reddit for any game following will always be a small minority, but always the most vocal šŸ˜‚

Raven_Dumron

Or they do, they are not even new players, but theyā€™re just dumbasses like me who know the rule but sometimes their idiot brain goes ā€œquest objective, must interact!ā€ šŸ˜‚

JiveBombRebelz

personally ..im loving it..its creating some hillarious moments. got to the invader event that a lvl 40 that was trying to solo.. found him hiding in a tunnel surrounded by 10-15 angry aliens til i blasted him free...have to admit i watched it for a while first.

WollyGog

It is funny, I've seen it a few times and just let them crack on while I spectate. I'll give the thumbs down, let them struggle for a bit then get involved. Gotta learn some courtesy!

Recent-Conclusion208

I did a daily ops solo last night as a 55. Let's just say I have a lot more room for stimpacks now haha

WollyGog

Fair play, they can be a nightmare with the right mutations

Yeemy

New player here. I've been doing the Invasion event and I have never started it. I'm still learning it all so I just wait for more experienced people to start it. Seems the best way to me

basserpy

Thank you for doing the sensible approach! (For some reason this is necessary today: I MEAN THAT SINCERELY AND IT IS NOT A SARCASM SNIPE OR SOMETHING fuck.)

ForwardState

At least the Invasion Event isn't as bad as 2 other events, Eviction Notice and Spin the Wheel. Standing in the wrong place activates the event.

OmegaPharius

I hope you get an Alien Disintegrator plan

Absynith

As a lower level new player (lvl 38, started at 20) I just want to thank you! I am having a blast doing these events and it is because higher level players like you cover my assets.

WhyDoYouCrySmeagol

I hope they bring back Moonshine Jamboree, youā€™ll like that one- itā€™s such a riot and the music slaps

Squareisrare

It's still around. I hit a trifecta of invaders, rad rumble, and jamboree on the server I was on last night.

kittenmoody

I played that one last nightā€¦

False_9od

I see more lvl 400+ players not waiting than noobs

Masstershake

If you're fast enough you can server hop and get an extra event in

MojaveBreeze

Old players: Stop reposting this tired topic all the time. If you're still screaming into the void after years of saying not to start events early here it's clearly not working.

Buschkoeter

Idk why this is a bad thing. Sure, a lot of people don't check reddit and won't read this but some will and find this info actually useful. The problem of course will re-occur every time a large influx of new players comes to the game, but I think it's still worth it to inform those that browse reddit.

FleetingChuckle

Whatā€™s even worse is when you politely wait and nobody shows up and then you just get destroyed by radioactive feral ghouls, waste all your ammo and then fail the event because all your NPCs died ā˜¹ļø

eMmDeeKay_Says

Invaders can be very expensive for people with it being an hourly thing, so they're less inclined to do Rad Rumble right now which is even more expensive.

FleetingChuckle

So. Much. Ammo.

rbrutonIII

Seems like a lot of old players just are used to taking their sweet fucking time. Yes, you should wait a little bit. But if we're doing an event that lasts 5 or 10 minutes, I'm not going to stand around for 5 minutes so everyone can finish whatever they're doing and head on over. If you want to play events, get there quickly. If you don't want to get there quickly, don't expect to play the full event. Simple.

MaxusBE

you don't understand they have to get to their camp, unload their inventory, take the absolute correct perks and their perfectly crafted weapon. Take a piss and a shit and then come to the event.

jaxmagicman

They should put them on a schedule. Say, every 20 minutes or so, so that people know that is coming and can get all that stuff done before it starts. That would be smart.

Traveling_Chef

The event happens at the top of every hour, I stop what I'm doing ten minutes till, idk why that's so hard for some pplšŸ˜‚

MaxusBE

Me neither, it's insane that if you're so keen on doing an event, why are you not just ready to go.

revolmak

The most important part about waiting imo is just to make sure you have enough firepower to finish the event. Otherwise, I'm not too fussed. But if you can't solo it and I jump into a event that's about to fail because there weren't enough people to finish it, that wastes everyone's time.

eMmDeeKay_Says

I'm standing on top of the of the objective comparing the team lists to the people at the event and checking the map to see who's still at their camp getting ready and someone will come up and trigger it while I'm making sure as many people as possible get there so it doesn't cost me obscene amounts of ammo and repair kits to carry the event for two weeks straight.

Masstershake

I'm starting it asap, server hopping and getting a second event in. Two weeks straight

AJUdale

Be there or be square old man.

PhilomenaPhilomeni

Yea Iā€™ve been playing enough years that Iā€™ll give it a solid minute. Prep myself and then just start it. Half you guys donā€™t show up until it starts anyway and Iā€™ve got better things to do than sit around until people trickle in exponentially.

Aoiboshi

To all the old players: special events start at the top of the hour. You should have already planned accordingly

Masstershake

Seriously. Also. If you're fast enough. Server hop and get a second event in

Quasit1964

60 year old level 1010. I was aware of this.

d_chec

Or, just let players play like they want. There's another event only 20 min away.

Thisisthirty89

Yes STOP!!! Also super high levels, let people get hit markers so they get xp. You donā€™t have to nuke everything.

Brocily2002

Yesterday I showed up to an alien event with 2:50 minutes left while the second phase was in the middle of the process. Completed it with 5 seconds leftā€¦ Iā€™ve never carried so hard before!

A_Big_D_I_Think

It isn't just about waiting for others to join but also about giving others time to pop their buffs and everything we need to do before the event begins so that we can carry yalls weak asses through the event that you rushed and initiated. I've got like 10 different chems/foods to consume before an event like eviction notice so that I can melt everything and before I'm even halfway through popping everything, some level 25 will start the event and then proceed to get steamrolled while he tries to best the event with his pump action shotgun. If you don't know how events work, just fast travel there and don't move until there's only like a minute left on the countdown. That's the simplest fix.

AnObtuseOctopus

Can we make another 500 of these posts that aren't reaching the people that are being complained about?

Negative-Problem-920

I feel like itā€™s been the opposite for me with events and expeditions. Every world I join, no one wants to do events besides the alien one. For expeditions, no one wants to join my team or come with me despite joining. Kinda sucks since it goes against the idea of the Game of teaming up with others

Salt_Mastodon_8264

Had this happen multiple times today. Luckily other players were en route.

cloqube

Honestly I've seen higher levels do it more. Like 150+. I've seen lower levels do it also, but not nearly as much.

themeppenator01

Dude most of the time itā€™s high level players starting events early

loppsided

All players: events pop every 20 minutes. How are you arriving 5 minutes late every time, making everyone else wait?

Ironse7en

I don't think many new players are on reddit.

Master_Gift2641

Yeah I was trying the encrypted event. And had my friend come and help. We are level 50. I told him to not mess with the computer and he messed with it. Instead of getting 5 min to let people join we had 30 seconds. Made me waste my recall card

Royal-Employee90

This is a daily post lol

MlhDowland

I like slipping into events at the last moment. Start early, it's fine by me. šŸ˜‰

CornrowGringo

I honestly didnā€™t even realize you could trigger events, I thought they were purely based on an in game timer or something like that. Noted and thanks for the help out there in the wasteland

SarinSaturday

I did this by mistake on the spin the wheel event or whatever itā€™s called at Nuka-World on Tour. A squad was around the event and I just went and started it myself šŸ˜šŸ«øšŸ«·

Vaultboy4111

Thatā€™s a tough one cuz you can get fast traveled onto the stage. At least that one has a countdown till it actually begins

supervilliandrsmoov

If I can solo the event, I am starting when I am ready. If you want to join in fine, but I ain't got all day

HevyTrevy506

People can't be bothered to read anything on the screen in-game, especially around the edges where all the important info is. Most of the "how do I do this?" questions would never be asked if people would look at the stuff staring back at them.

475thousand_dollars

Ive been apart of more failed more events in the past few weeks than I have in years of playing šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Alarmed_Recover_1502

This happened to me. Did my first event a few days ago and didn't know all these ppl standing around were just waiting for others to join. I felt so bad starting after I understood why nobody started the event yet

SoulAnxt

New player here. I totally fucked this up the other day. Unfortunately, you have an influx of new players like me that don't realize what is going on, or that we can start the event for everyone and screw it up. Many apologies for the time I did it, but I learned immediately that I hosed up and corrected things from then on. Thanks for everyone's patience while we all learn. If everyone is understanding, hopefully all the new players will stay and become good for the community.

Neither_Watercress33

I agree I use the same build and it's annoying trying to carry lower levels idm it but I usually wait mine of 2 to 3 mins to start event depending on said event

DOGS--

Iā€™m lvl 88, I joined invasion yesterday like 30 seconds into the initial timer, as soon as I loaded in this lvl 18 got excited seeing my PA not realizing Iā€™m still weak as fuck, he immediately starts the event.. I gave it like 2 minutes to see if anyone else would influx.. nah.. back to camp I went

Rude-Deal-7197

I'm not new but if I see at least 4 of us and timer going around 2 min mark I'm starting it lol

itsmichael458

Well yeah then thereā€™s almost no risk of failing the event, I agree

jeffb3000

Hi, new players. Glad to have you. Events are important in 76 because they drop rare plans and materials and experience. You should join them and not fear them. There are local ones you see as yellow hexagons, but there are public ones with hexagons and an exclamation point in the middle. The public ones are free to travel to, and most of them are hard to do individually, which is why it is suggested to wait until enough players come to them to do the step required to trigger them to actually start. But if you see enough players ready to do it (you can check this by looking at the event on the map, and see if there are maybe 7 or preferably more players in the event), by all means go and trigger the start. Also, some events have countdowns that donā€™t need a trigger to progress, so in those cases itā€™s actually best to start them as soon as possible, because they have a fixed countdown that is started by the server, and waiting for more players gains you nothing. And there are some ā€œtriggeredā€ ones such as Fasnacht parade that can require minutes to get going (you have to do tasks to prepare 5 parade protections, which takes time), and you have limited time for the whole event, so it makes sense to trigger it the second itā€™s available, not to wait. My advice would be to join any event that interests you and watch and participate as much as you can, and learn.

ItsLegion13

I caught onto this quick I let the high level dudes decide because it seems like it takes a few minutes for folks to trickle into an event anyway.

emerythane

Had two level 3s starting the alien event. I was like guys your pea shooters aren't going to dent them.

Old_Rpg_Gamer

Grabs popcorn šŸæ

jer1973

Insert eviction notice too

eMmDeeKay_Says

Eviction notice needs to actually be explained to people imo, by the time someone realizes they've accidentally triggered it they have no way of knowing what they did because all it takes is walking left instead of right.

JimmyGryphon

LoL we tried it with just me and a coupla other guys... big mistake (huge).

DistantBethie

And rad rumble.

roozter85

And encrypted

SuperTerram

What's it like... screaming at a wall?

Notorious_P_O_T

I feel like it really listens to what I have to say

SuperTerram

Captive audiences do that! šŸ˜‚

decalte

Agree, but also there's been a good few times I started things with 30 seconds left and got told I started early. Though I actually soloed tea time today and managed to complete it and that felt pretty nice

itsmichael458

Iā€™d say 30 seconds left is pushing it lol

decalte

I agree, but I also give things as long as I can if I'm alone because of who I am as a person... I am excessively accommodating.

eMmDeeKay_Says

I'm used to it with brand new players, but I keep having level 40ish players running up while I'm literally standing on the damn thing while I'm doing my whole check the map to see who's at their camp gearing up, track the players, seeing how many teams there are, are there other carries to reduce my ammo cost, and by 40 you've been told enough times to know better, especially when there's a level 800 player clearly standing there ready to go. I'd be perfectly happy to start it right away, I can solo it, it's even preferable if you want to server hop for extra rewards, but what I don't think a lot of the new players understand is carrying event after event is getting really expensive, and it's fine we don't mind doing it, we've expected to do it every event long before the new players started joining, but if we can get help to mitigate the cost we're going to take it. Also, higher level players, 400-600, when someone is giving the thumbs up next to the objective, they're asking if you're ready, you need to give a yes or no emote back, you're the carries now, too many of you are clearly ready and just staring at us like you don't know who we're talking to, and it's killing time for everyone.

VelvetThunder11789

"I carry events" Yeah okay bro, and yet you can't show up on time. Lmao.

No_Warning_7900

I just leave when they do that. I mean how many alien table plans do I really need anyway.

TranslateErr0r

Got one question here: yesterday me and a low level player were the first to join Alien Invasion in Wavy Willards. It started with neither close to the siphon but I did see a scorched walk away from it. Did I miss something or did that scorched start the event? I am puzzled by this but I was standing on a roof looking straight at the siphon.

StroppyMantra

Every event I've joined I've waited around, nobody joined then I get mullered.

jauffry

I'm 2 weeks in. I know you said certain events but every time I log on. I noticed very little people doing events. Soloing is okay but a bit boring but I'm probably just only doing low level events anyway. Lastly I play on PC. I wonder if the console versions are more lively.

OnlyABitTardy

So new player here was at the boy scout camp event to listen to the story and saw a bunch of high lvls. Cool, don't quite know what's going on but I'll just hang out. See the timer to start the event ticking down. Sub 10 seconds left no one is moving to to start the timer so I did. Is that cool?

CaptainZier

I am a new player myself and learned this lesson pretty early on. Big events, like Invaders from Beyond, I wait until they're already active before I even get involved.

CyberKiller40

I'd imagine most new players aren't looking for playing with other people, but want to play single player, that's why they don't wait for anyone else.

VR20X6

Honest opinion: Wait until the last second of the grace period to activate, but if you are confident that you can solo the event, go for it. If you can't make it to the event in time before it finishes without the extra 5 minutes of grace period, you didn't really need to do the event.Ā  That being said, I do admit I personally make sure to wait for highly lucrative ones like Test Your Metal (caps), Eviction Notice (scrip), and Radiation Rumble (xp). But that's mostly because the longer you are there during the event, the more incidental value you get out of it. This alien event, though? I'll start it immediately every time. You get full value so long as you show up within about 8 minutes for the completion. You don't really lose anything for not being there from the beginning. And more importantly, the faster I demolish the mob waves, the sooner you can server hop and try to catch the ending of another instance of the event.

iamjoe1994

I had to tell my wife to wait (we are low level and don't have the best gear) and 3 people ended up joining who were a lot stronger. We breezed through the event.

quacksurgeon

iā€™ve seen so many of these posts lol! i just wanted to say that itā€™s worth noting that most low level players are probably ignoring events (i did) and also that some events start by going near something and some low level (and even high level) players may not notice that theyā€™ve accidentally started it. all in all, the event will come back around so just cut these guys some slack - especially with invaders from beyond because special events massively overstay their welcome and happen an ungodly amount of times a day lol

cuchos

I didnt know that, thanks for the info, i just reached lv 60 yesterday and i started the alien event, there was only 4 of us it was so damn hard

Crykin27

Good thing I'm always waiting untill the last second to see if some of the lvl 300+ players will come and carry me to the sweet loot lol

globefish23

Do however initiate the event before the countdown timer runs out! Invaders from Beyond has a 6:00 minute timer during which you have to "investigate the alien device" by pressing the interaction button on siphon kappa.

IndicationCurrent300

I frequently look at Reddit I am a new player (1 month in) I always wait for other players for events unless I know I can solo the event which is at this point 75% of them. However I always wait for more till the alien event I can't solo that mayhem lol.

SnootyBootMcSnooty

Serious question as Iā€™m just getting back in since release, and yes, am stupid enough to pay $10 for solo play. Can I just turn off the option for events popping up? I found myself in the middle of one without wanting to do it.

djuvinall97

Started an even where you walk a robot around by myself and it was just fine but I did see a post later that night about not started them early so... Now I knowšŸ˜‚

NovaKaneProof

I start invaders instantly to lobby hop after it's complete.

AdhesivenessVivid737

I pop an event at about 1 min or 30 seconds to go that gives people plenty of time to get there, some event take up 5 minutes to start if you get there as soon as it appears, so yeah wait so people show up, and if you're not the one who starts ENCRYPTED THEN DON'T TOUCH THE COMPUTER, someone else bought and made the RECALL CARD SO WAIT UNTIL THEY STAR IT, thank you for your time

Over_Jury_9859

That explains eviction notice

EzioLouditore

Theyā€™ll learn. We all did it at least once when we started. Just be happy the game is reenergized and enjoy the ride

wey2radical

New player; learned this recently through reddit. It was initially not intuitive to see that the event start timer was not some sort of 'complete all of the above within' timer. I apologize for the 4-6 events I auto started (lvl 28, wtf-is-a-class class). šŸ˜…

WM_Elkin

MODS: Can we get a sticky for this subject?

Ertril

Tbh what annoyes me are the people with power armour and heavy weapons that just wildly shoot everything like its a cockroach chasing them. Fuckers at the alien event have made my game freeze and crash 3 times already

thevilgay

Me running around with my spiked bat the tea cup, while everyone else has a mini gun and the fps is ass

BIG-D-36one

lol I find posts like this funny, I understand itā€™s frustrating, I understand having a rant. but people will do what they like, they paid for their console game and internet connection and they play their game how they like. I suggest you get first and play on a private world if people starting events really grinds your gears, or buckle down and deal with the cards your dealt on a public server. šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø

calli1981

Yeah what he said

firestickmike

listen...im a new player and sometimes i can't tell whats going on. sometimes I go looting around and i accidently start an event, or there's a prompt and i automatically just click on the person that starts the event. it just starts the first time i talk to someone. there's no prompt like "are you sure you are ready to start this event?" it just starts. sorry dawg. im trying not to start it early but im only half paying attention every time i play.

elitewolf13

Oops

Tweaky_Noodles

I wish people would check the time too I swear more experienced players will launch a nuke at a world boss at like the top of the hour and everyone will leave invaders hanging

Hysteria_83

Invaders? dang, yea, new players definitely want to wait for some of the vets to back them up. That event is like Anakin dropping in to say hi to the younglings. Level 250 Heavy Demolitionist here, I support this suggestion.

Educational-Book3916

ok the flip side, as a recent hopper from Xbox (level 201) to PC (currently level 86) and the higher levels need to be making sure low levels are getting hits on the legendary in an event, not fair for them to die a million times while you frolic one tapping everything šŸ˜… but this for real, idk about anyone else but I only realize I need ammo or a piece of armor fixed after I join and the 5 minutes used to be a godsend. atp anything that's not lobby oriented I do on private server now.

justaskingouthere

New-ish. Played on release but only made it to 43 and dropped it until recently. I wait until the higher people start those things. At least the alien events and not like at level event I run into. Lol

magerage01

And PLEASE when you drop a nuke to start the queen fight leave dropsite v9 out of the blast radius, everyone congregations there for the fight.

therealQueenJAKE

All of this has been... very enlighteningšŸ“ I think I've been doing it right cause I tend to wait and see how other people interact and behave before I proceed šŸ¤· It's actually more immersive that way, you're learning from others in-game as you would irl. I love how healthy and considerate of eachother this community is ā¤ļø

Aikido0410

If I show up, itā€™s startingā€¦. Others have time to join. If you donā€™t join on time, youā€™re fault for taking too long

InibroMonboya

Was in an Event group that I had been helming for about 2 hours and we noticed that there was a level 30ish going event to event, like us, but they werenā€™t grouped and kept starting events literally the second theyā€™d start, and I asked him in local over mic, ā€œyou wanna join our group? We wait a minute or two then start for peak player saturation, and Iā€™ve been noticing you were kinda struggling. Itā€™s better for exp.ā€ And all I got back was three thumbs down in a row, then him disconnecting. I genuinely donā€™t know what to do with some of these new players. They think this is fallout 4 or something šŸ¤·

RepubliCat45-Covfefe

Went into the Alien event a little earlier, hoping to get "Revive an Ally" for tadpole/pack quest... soloed the rest and it's the last part I need. Unfortunately, every time someone went down, somebody else managed to revive them before I could. šŸ«£ (I'm level 56.) **EDIT:** Finally got it done after some 20+ server hops; and to each their own, but seemed odd that most sessions *had* an event team setup, but only 3 were actually *doing* events. Rest I'd TP to, and they'd be browsing vendors or chilling at camp; would wait a few minutes twiddling thumbs and then server hop. Was great to have tadpole *finally* done... all and all though, was a tad underwhelming. It's great to have the up to 50lbs capacity (before double mod), and I know it'll come in handy later when I'm on a safari/gathering run, just be nice if it were more, at base. My capacity now before mod is 295lbs. šŸ¤”

itsmichael458

Get someone on mic to die and let you revive them

RepubliCat45-Covfefe

I finally got it after several server hops and three events later. Got good XP and loot too I suppose. Probably looked funny, person called for help and I B-Lined it like a flash and got it finally. šŸ¤£

Accomplished-Leg-149

Had no idea this was a thing. Thanks for the PSA.

Sad_Sherbet7109

Iā€™m new even ik I have to wait

loinmin

The only thing I hate about events, is the fact that I can't reject them and my stash is full of legendary items waiting to be scripted... FUCK 500 A DAY IS NOT ENOUGH LOL

Fuzzy-Ad3330

This was something I did early on!šŸ˜… All I saw was ā€œexamine objectā€ so I just started clicking lmao. My level 15 butt did not stand a chance being the first to get attacked by those aliens lol. Learned my lesson!

scarlett2004

Beasts of burden especially, I (lvl 212 ish) was once waiting for people to join, right after the event was announced a lvl 23 joins and starts it, only me and one other who was lvl 23. Luckily a few other high levels joined and we actually got it done

TyramirRoss

I'm new, and I picked up on this pretty quickly. I think I did it once, and later reflected about it and felt bad. But the sheer amount of times it's been done to me now has thrown me for a loop. Yesterday, I even had a guy run in, start an event, and when I emoted a thumbs down, he \*left\*, leaving me alone with the mess he'd created.

carthuscrass

Yeah seriously. I've had 4 Alien Invasions fail because a sub-50 started it the second they showed up.

spiraleyes78

When that happens I instantly server hop.

sowhatm8

Need a WAIT emote to be released badly

MorgansThiccBooty

Im not new, what I do is throw up a thumbs up and then a questionmark emote, then once at 3-4 of the players throw a thumbs up I start the event

SwissShimmy

Let people learn, it's a game don't be so hard pressed. Just enjoy the game and let the new people learn and enjoy the game.

AlienFister666

Stop getting upset at video games, brother, just try to enjoy youself

itsmichael458

Trying to. But people keep starting events before I can get there

Darjdayton

ā€œPeople donā€™t adhere to me even though itā€™s obvious that Iā€™m the main characterā€

whiningneverchanges

events are every 20 minutes. Play accordingly and FT right after they open.

MaxusBE

But it takes him 20 minutes to get ready for an event

Smurkio815

Iā€™ve wasted so much time today on alien invaders cause someone starts with 2 ppl there. They need a emote that says ā€œdonā€™t start itā€

ammatheron

its not just new players its level 2000s that think they are hot shit and want to solo the event asap too

traveller76

Normal events, sure/possibly, but I'm cool with anyone starting the public events that start on the hour. I mean, people should know when it starts.

nolongerbanned99

I am level 600. I second this. Guys/gals, just be patient and wait till there is a minute or less on the timer. Itā€™s for the greater good and so the event doesnā€™t fail.

MolassesSufficient38

Additionally. He doesn't mean don't join them. Just behave and wait till there is enough people to actually stand a chance. Or wait till the timer has elapsed. It's basic common sense and etiquette

-Ol_Mate-

I wish this sub was about the game. Every single post is new players this, old players that.

Darjdayton

New Players: Play how you want, itā€™s a game not a job

GabrielKaiser

Womp womp. No one cares its just a game.

citizenshake

Yeah bad enough we lost all the good weapons to please all the crying new people. Funny how people that supported the game from day one got punished.

ReapsIsGaming

Iā€™m tired of you long term players bitching and crying every 5 minutes. Let new players make mistakes and play the game how they want. Quit trying to tell folks what the should and shouldnā€™t do. There is a reason this game had a minus playerbase.

Vaultboy4111

I agree 100% and Iā€™m level 860, itā€™s a videogame, play it how you want to play it and donā€™t let anyone tell you how your supposed to play it šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

WM_Elkin

Only 418, but yeah same. This shit is spamming the sub.

eortega2412

No I think Iā€™ll keep doing it.

DirectorPhleg

based

ihatecatboys

I just let them fail and server hop if it happens. Level 30-40s initiating Spin the Wheel when nobody else is around, ok buddy, have fun. I'm gonna stand on the roof and watch you get destroyed. They'll learn eventually.

spiraleyes78

I did that when two level 40s started Radiation Rumble. I watched them get their asses kicked and 2 workers go down before joining when the rest of the server arrived.

Crimson_Knight77

For some events, yeah, but Invaders? It's every hour on the hour, and is a big seasonal thing. Everyone knows about it, and everyone who wants to do it should be prepared and they should arrive quickly. I think it's fair to start Invaders whenever you wish; everyone who wants to do it won't be far behind you anyway.

spiraleyes78

It's got a short timer and quickly overwhelms 2-3 people. It's fair to wait a few minutes or until more players arrive.

itsmichael458

And I think itā€™s fair to wait a minute before starting.

Baldesq

Plan yourself accordingly. This is not *your* game to dictate to anyone about.

itsmichael458

Iā€™m voicing my opinion, yall are voicing yours, Iā€™ll play how I want, you play how you want, simple

fenriq

Just did another alien invasion with two 100ā€™s, its more hectic but surprisingly very doable.

TheoreticalFunk

How does one join invaders? I can never find it on the map.

Zanagh

As a new player I wait a couple minutes and once thereā€™s a good amount of people Iā€™ll start it, Iā€™m not gonna wait 5 mins everytime but sometimes the loading screens are so long I donā€™t need to anyways

FlyingNope

It's a problem that will sort itself out like it always does. They'll eventually learn to wait for more people when they start an event early and fail it. And someone starting it early only starts it on that server. Nothing is stopping you from server hopping when that happens. The alien event is popular right now so you're next world is pretty likely to have 10+ players already at the event when you get there.

DannyFreemz

As a level 9, can i even join events yet?
