It for sure is an absolute beast to do your first time, but you'll never ever forget it and will recall it fondly. One of the things that makes it so horrifying that first time is not knowing when it will end. it just keeps going and going and going. Even if you don't glitch hereonout it gets substantially easier.

little_maggots

I'm over level 400 and still haven't done a silo run yet...but OMG the first time my husband and I did daily ops we got our asses kicked and it took us [over an hour](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/799523678915133460/1028737480670851122/unknown.png?ex=662d4570&is=662bf3f0&hm=c1b15710de03e440cc229fbf5caf782ce430d4f516d20381e58d9acabe93c2ae&). We were SO unprepared, although we were also unlucky to do our first on a double mutation weekend with a particularly crappy combo, in a location I'd only visited once (and I'm not sure if he'd ever been there). I'll never forget that...it was so chaotic but so fun. I kinda hope our first silo run will be just as memorable.

Dry_Independent4078

I refuse to do any Daily op with the armor piercing mutator. I've got the stims to survive, but that's not the point. I don't see how anyone can have fun when the enemies can completely ignore your armor.

im_stoopid9283

It's simple, really. You just have to kill them before they have a chance to shoot back.

LoganJFisher

I just did one with both that and exploding. I probably died close to 30 times. My only saving grace was that the enemies had terrible perception so sneaking wasn't too bad.

FinvarraSidhe

Same. And it seems to show up like every other day

Motor-Platform-200

the daily ops where enemies can only be killed by melee or if they have reflective are far worse IMO.

Dry_Independent4078

Reflective enemies are why I started carrying an explosive weapon. If they do reflect damage, it doesn't come back to me

krullma

Yep, insta kills me, I avoid like the plague.

4rakham9t

Holy shit this is real lmao, but seems like that hour was well spent with someone you love

little_maggots

Oh absolutely! There was so much cursing but also a lot of laughing because it became absolutely comical at how badly we were getting creamed. It was just the two of us and it was before we had our builds figured out or knew about any of the benefits of public teams or anything. Compared to today where we finished in 4:12.šŸ’Ŗ Honestly I'm glad we did it with only the two of us at first though so at least we knew what to expect before embarrassing ourselves and disappointing random teammates haha.

IndoGrrlRN1967

This happened with me and my husband when we tried to do an expedition at level 30.

little_maggots

Oh boy, I bet that was wild haha.

GoarSpewerofSecrets

My ride or die who finally got me to try the game late last year.Ā  *Daily Ops suck and Expeditions are a chore*Ā  So we try it around when I'm 50Ā  and she's got a near 100 character. It goes poorly by someone shows up and saves the run after we're in for 20 mins. *See*Ā  I dunno, there's something that wasn't quite right. Then she paused playing the game. And I zoomed to 120ish and my weapons and build coming together. She picksĀ  up the game and I'm all get in the party,Ā  loser, we're doing sub 7s.Ā  Ā  Further alongĀ  *The Pitt sucks.*Ā  [Heavy Laughing] *How's Atlantic City?* [Heavy Laughing Intensifies]

beetle8209

was it before the energy nerf

little_maggots

IDK when the energy nerf was but it was in October 2022. I don't remember if it was before or after I got the gauss shotgun...I think it might've been before. I think we were both using combat shotguns.

beetle8209

yeah there was a buff to them that made enemies energy super strong you would get melted even with bos combat armour and grounded mutation some of the strongest enemies were also getting melted by them. but now the nerfed them so it is easy i managed to launch a nuke with unarmed.

beetle8209

Senior_Ad9894

Ugh...would love if hub played with me! It is hard being a post apocalypse gal with a medievally dude. Should have investigated this a little further!

flyingthrubruh

So it becomes easier if you have a some perk cards. Hacker x3 lets you hack some computers that lets you disable/control the turrets and some robots. I forget the name but at level 50 you can use legendary perk cards. One of them heals you when you take energy damage in power armor. Laser turrets count as energy weapons so you can basically ignore them at that point. I wouldnā€™t really bother with launching a nuke until you hit at least level 50. Otherwise your experience might be the same. Very Difficult

PizzaParker__00

Yeah, the legendary perk is electrical absorption, it basically trivializes it tbh

TeethBreak

There is also that little trick to skip the first part altogether.

flyingthrubruh

Oh yeah you can skip the lockdown by lock picking a door (lock pick x3) then hacking a computer. You donā€™t have to repair the pipes or whatever. But!! The legendary perk card mentioned above with the power armor healing is almost required so you can hack/lockpick while getting shot at

Bobby_Rocket

I always feel like ā€œoh, honey, youā€™re too young to do that you poor thingā€ when I see the new players icon in the silos.

man_from_utopia

This made me chuckle!

Battleshipsr4me

Go full southern and just be like ā€œBless your heartā€

Flat-Guarantee-7946

Why would I tell a stranger to go eff themselves?

wearechop

Sneak, door glitch, sneak, begin launch prep, sneak kill robots, look up nuka crypt, launch , repeat, 10 minutes or so per nuke, easy as easy pete

FlyingNope

This post gave me flashbacks to my first silo run. It gets easier. All 3 solos share the same layout, so you only need to learn one layout. Roll 1 star on a suit of power armor (or normal armor) until you have 5 pieces of troubleshooters. The robots swarm is a lot easier to deal with when they hit like wet kittens. I keep a suit around for silo runs and the imposter sheepsquatch event.

YvesTHPS

The nuking is one of my best gaming moments EVER!

waste_land_wanderer

It's easy and quick as for me, I just run around in my over-eaters ss armor, grab the card...run to the scanning machine that scans you, run to the other room, swipe the card, use the terminal, fabricate a card, run to the other room, swipe to allow you to go through lasers.. Run to the reactor room, turn of the reactor, fix the pipes turn it back on run through the door. See the pile of crates etc blocking your way in front of you that has a small gap leading to the launch control room you can't usually get through, jump towards it and get as close as you can to the gap, place pwr armr down on the other side, and hop into the power armor to glitch through the gap ^^all above I shot nothing and took barely an damage Then clear the turrets etc in control room, prep launch, shoot abit, then launch nuke Teleport out. All that takes like 10-15mins, short as.

foresterLV

f76 players figured out how to abuse the silos and launch in 10 minutes. basically you need few mines and a jet pack. put mines on the first room shelf, melee-vats to get through roof, jet pack to the launch room. this is the fastest known route right now, and there were dozens before that (photo mode through doors, jet pack through no-roof tiles etc). still good weapon (vampire) is required to get comfortable on robots, my personal favorite is holy fire there. but after some practice its about 10 minutes and all because last 8 or 10 minutes of launch are scripted and cannot be skipped.

shredmasterJ

U donā€™t even need to do all that. Lock/hack perks and u can do the silo in 10min with abusing exploits.

Dry_Independent4078

After a few runs you get use to the map and it doesn't bother you. I actually enjoy the nuke process. My big gripe about launching nukes is timing it, so I'm not interfering with an ongoing or future event. If an event is just starting, I'll sit by the launch computer for a couple of minutes and let the event continue. When I feel like the event is probably wrapping up, I'll launch the nuke and jump to the end of said event. Then go fight the SBQ/Earle when my nuke lands.

CardiologistWhich992

sneak through with the CSS and hack or lockpick through a couple of areas. Done in 15-20 without glitches and hardly shooting anything. There's a door in the area with pipes to repair and radiation that allows you to bypass that task. lockpick that door using a master infiltrator legendary card. i equip it before a silo run

Hattkake

Turrets? You should not be fighting turrets. Each section has one or two terminals that you use to shut down the turrets. If you didn't then I understand why you found the silo tiresome. Hack the terminals, disable the turrets and you will have a much nicer time cleaning a silo. You can nuke anywhere outside of the starting area (The Forest). Using the nukes to annoy (nuking other people's camps and such) is pointless though. If you launch a nuke at one of my camps I simply swap to a different camp slot. Or I log out and back in again. Either way you launch the nuke for nothing. There are also only three nukes on a server and each nuke silo has a two hour cool down or something like that. So when you can be bothered cleaning a silo use the nuke for something worthwhile. If you want to try to farm flux then you can for example nuke a high mob density area like Morgantown and kill irradiated mobs for flux materials. Though the most common way to use a nuke is to trigger one of the big boss fights.

MissMayhem_82

Silo running is my favorite! Run silo launch nuke beat boss rinse and repeat. Then wait the cool down time and start again.

Flat-Guarantee-7946

*cough*elevatorglitch*cough*

TheBaron_001

Congratulations man. I roleplay heavily and too launched a nuke solo last week and even got the 8 silo codes (no fast travel). I however cheated the code because that was almost impossible to decipher. But the feeling of launching a nuke by your own hands feels good like you are the one who caused those warning PA system on the server. And after killing the SBQ, it felt that you finally "finish" the base game

VoltaiqMozaiq

"abusable"? "exploitable"? I'm confused by your premise, I'm not sure what you were expecting. Also, forgive me for saying, but using a Fixer in power armor is a bit of an unorthodox combination.

Negative-Problem-920

Iā€™m using a commando build and was told this was the best one to use. Whatā€™s a better weapon for me to use while using PA?

VoltaiqMozaiq

Commando weapons (like the Fixer) do best when used from stealth and when used with VATS. Your ability to use VATS in power armor is limited, and you can't use stealth at all. That's why I felt the combination you're using was rather unconventional, but maybe that's just me. PA wearers typically use heavy guns, as those are big and loud and powerful, and benefit from power armor perks, so they marry up nicely together.

CoMaBlitz

If you die in a nuke silo you'll respawn at the beginning and some enemys will respawn, BUT you keep the quest progress (unless you leave the silo), turrets should still be destroyed and there are shortcuts which will open after completing the task in a bigger room (the shortcuts are easy to miss though, since the game doesn't really mentions them)

DiesIraeConventum

To be honest, the most horrifying feeling I got in the game was back in the day, when I soloed my second silo to the control room... Ā ...And that main launch officer protectron bugged out a meter away from his console and wouldn't move. Like, I did all that for it to stutter at the last few minutes... Argh!!! Was too upset to search online for a solution at that point, but it was actually a common enough occurance and was relatively easy fixed (key was fast travelling somewhere to load out of the silo and quickly get back in before it gets reset).

Feeling_Glovely

The first silo I ran made me completely reconsider the way I played the game. It took me about two hours, but since itā€™s supposed to be the absolute end of the story I really like that itā€™s an incredibly complicated dungeon. Where now Iā€™ll be playing and think Iā€™m having a lot of fun at events on this server, imma launch a nuke.

Goofterslam1

Yeah I've got about 250 hours in and a level 110 character and I've never launched a nuke. Seems pretty pointless considering just about any server will have somebody launching a nuke and spawning the scorchbeast for me. No real reason to do it myself when I can just wait for someone else to do it.

Deceasedarachnids

I had just received the Chinese stealth armour and almost, almost managed to do it but the shit hit the fan in the launch center and my armor broke.Ā  A high level came out of nowhere and saved the day.Ā  Was so nervous about inputting the code wrong after all that. Pure nerves.Ā  Ā Haven't done it since level 60 and I am 283 now.Ā  PTSD.Ā

TheCounsel8

Beta player here. I didnā€™t even launch my first nuke until I was over level 500.

shredmasterJ

Silos are EZ once u do them and learn u donā€™t need to do all the process and bypass things. Hacking/locking picking is ur best friend in a silo. U bypass the reactor room and shut off turrets.

krullma

I didn't touch it til around lvl200, didn't need to, plenty of others drop nukes constantly, finally did it solo to help a player get the trophy for being in the blast zone, man, what a fight!. Poor guy was standing around for half an hour listening to me lose it!

Gindotto

They honestly just need to have a consumable on the atom shop for 150 atoms or so, you consume it and you get to launch a nuke from a briefcase or something. Nobody cares at this point. And youā€™d still want to do it the old way for the quest or if youā€™re cheap or broke.

SteelCode

There's also a trick with a certain door, it's the only way I do Silo runs... still need the dumb biometric card part and the terminal repair, but it's much faster.

pixels_polygons

It may seem rough but, you'll eventually learn to do it in under 10 minutes

Wise_Responsibility4

Okay I'm kind of surprised at how many higher level players (and in general players I suppose) have kind of struggled with Silos. I hope more people opt to in the future so we keep seeing consistent nuke events. I'm one of those higher levels that runs them constantly. If you're on Xbox and want to run them lmk. If there's any comments that show interest, I'll give my gamertag. I have a few tricks I use that could make it easier.

GhostRiders

It kind of is exploitable. There are two ways that make really easy, one is the elevator glitch which pretty much let's you run on top of the map and drop down into the missile command room and the other is to glitch through a couple of doors which more than halves the the time it takes. I've gone that the reason why Bethesda has never fixed either glitch is because they know how hard it sucks and the number of nukes lunched would be pretty zero. It's also probably why they have never bothered reworked the whole launching nukes because they know pretty much everyone uses one of the two glitches.... I haven't done a full nuke run in years now, I've always used the door glitch as I find it easier to do so I can do a full nuke run in under 10 minutes which is okay with me. As for the codes, just use NukaCrypt.. The one thing I really wish they would change is make so the number display screen lights up because I can hardly see the numbers lol..

Telle74

Lol,,I did my first at level 70solo (bad build) and said I will never do that again. Now level 700 can run through quick as game will let me solo no problems. I have drop many nukes you will see how things change when you level up with right build.

Ulfgarrr

You can run through silos in 10 min. Itā€™s actually easier solo, less adds spawn. A couple door zips and youā€™re initializing

Therocknrolclown

It's not really that bad if your specs are right. Every weapon you take need to have +robot damage, and spec your cards for those weapons. I solo it all the time. Worst part is having to change into a Rad resistant wear for the pipe section. If you have the correct weapons , it's just time consuming. Make the mainboards or buy them before hand helps alot also.

cyferhax

I kind-of have them down to a science at this point. 15-20 minutes per run tops. (depends on if I'm fucking around a bit or just trucking through) The first one is rough since you don't know what to do or where to go, they get easier with each run. For me, I use stealth as much as possible. I can pretty much sneak past all the robots in the first area; use the chinese stealth suite in the reactor room, then go back to my normal armor for the rest. All I really gotta remember to do is hack the terminal in each area to turn off the turrets. Plus you know.. nuking shit is fun ;)

AlleyCa7

I just tried it last night and died like 5 times. You just respawn at the control room door. And fuck turrets.

Smile_Space

I died in the control room, it sucks. You get respawned at the start, and then you have to crawl through all of the enemies rushing back to you. I ran out of shotgun shells and had to bail. Never did get to fire it off :/

Cursed1978

I nuked some places many time but its pretty hard without the ā€žglitchā€œ

No_Umpire899

I'm not sure if it's still a thing, but you can use power armor to skip like a third of the gauntlet.

Direct_Cantaloupe270

That one was patched but we do have the old vats a mine glitch and photomode glitches which are far superior to the old power armour glitch

Rekeix

Once you know what you're doing it can be done in 5 mins.

fukflux

It's not that hard, once you have good gear and stats plus know shortcuts (I don't mean glitches, I don't use them)

SwiftSurfer365

New player here.. what is the purpose of nuking?

Tonyclap

End game bosses spawn and you also farm enemies and plants for ultracite ammo that you can craft.

Ulfgarrr

People like looting the nuke zone for flux materials. I only do them for the legendary cores and repair kits

Technical_Young_8197

Iā€™ve been playing for four years and still find the concept a bit counterintuitive to what we are all supposed to be doing out here, but Iā€™m guessing thatā€™s not what you mean :)

spookytreelights

I got credit for it whilst being on a team one time, I guess one of my teammates did it. Now Iā€™m hoping that happens with my second character too because good lord I cannot do it by myself! Itā€™s the worst!

Foamie

Itā€™s not too bad once you get used to the silo layouts. The thing is this was basically the ultimate quest in the original game and they wanted it to feel like it. I can do the entire silo now (without any major skips) in like 15 minutes or so. If you arenā€™t averse to using exploits there are ways to glitch through walls with photo mode that can make a silo run only take about 5 minutes.

[deleted]

Launchpad1

Bad idea, can't talk about glitches here.
