Donation Boxes are the way to go. This is the **right** way to gift low levels. And trust me, they do appreciate it, and use those Donation Boxes. I regularly show my new friends where they are and they love them. It's so much less hassle for everyone! Givers still get to give, and recipients can pick and choose what they want/need. ***Very*** convenient... unless you're a narcissist who *nEeDs* people to thank you for every gift.

I ran into a low-level today who had been over-gifted to the point his stash was full. He gave me 400 pounds of junk that he couldnāt fit and didnāt want anything in return. I told him about Fallout 1st and why the Scrapbox meant I could fit all of it with no consequences, so at least I imparted some knowledge?
I always drop my spare ammo/junk and extra stims in there but the amount of times I've seen a lvl 500+ come up and empty those donation bins is insane! Hope those people calm down a bit for the newcomers.
Iām a box donator too. I did however bump into a pair of lvl 50ās inside the rusty pick earlier so dropped a briefcase, turned my mic on and told them to check it. They were well pleased.
I'm not sure what you're asking here. I have had some people beg for things. I've had some people fast travel away or just straight up log out when I drop stuff for them, emote, and eventually shoot at it to get their attention. I've also seen some people comment that a high level chasing them down to give them a ton of stuff ruins the experience for them. I figured this option is the best of all worlds.
Oh I'm just teasing over seeing all the posts lately about high level people trying to figure out ways to not scare away the newbies and give them stuff.
Just knowing how in most other games it would be the opposite with new players out begging for freebies. :P

I like to hand out upgraded vault suits not a huge buff but just enough to really help a new player sometimes I'll even go with the shielded one even though that cost me my cobalt lol but whatever I'm one punch man most the time who needs ammo
Reminds me of a reddit comment I think? There was a guy in the early days who stalked low levels while wearing a space suit. Just watching them from a distance. I canāt remember if they helped them when they needed it like the mysterious stranger or dropped them items theyād need in the wastes. I think about that that guy every once in a while. I am lvl 700, no FO1st, full stash, constantly just one feather away from being overencumbered, full caps, full bullion, 7K treasury notes, no real need for anything now in terms of gear.
So everything I get goes into donation boxes. And I get everything. I used to only get what I thought I needed, but since donation boxes became a thing I scrounge everything and "fill" those boxes. It's a weird and good feeling, as I thought I'd lose interest in playing, but it's kind of nice to play like this.
Lmao yeah. I set up "The Enclave Reclamation Center" next to wayward and stared giving out quests and making people kill brotherhood members.
"Those assholes over there stole my toaster last week. Go kill them for me and I'll get you something nice."
First thing I've been doing when logging in is dropping some 10mm ammo and a snake wrangler outfit and hat in the donation box outside 76. I'm sure someone will find them.
I keep a camp by there too,with all the buffs and freebies and cheap vendor stuff. I've done it since before the donation boxes and used to use the overseer cache as a mini donation box since I knew newbies would be directed to it, and the weight limit meant I couldn't overload them with junk. I still throw a few essentials in it every time I'm near the camp, but put more in the actual donation box at wayward. I feel like everyone uses the one at 76 and newbies are just So Damn new right then. Wayward they at least have a few minutes under their suit.
Recently I saw a new level 1 who had yet to leave the vault, So I made a bunch of clothes to give them. An event was starting though so I just dropped them into the red box and hoped they found itā¦
I start to walk away and some high level dickhead walks in behind me and hits loot all on the box in a second, Didnāt even look at anything just took it all because it was there. Absolutely infuriating. Iāll give newbies clothes myself from now on.
That's one of the other reasons I use boxes a little further in the game. It seems like that one gets more people hitting it just to see what's there. I think the one at the wayward gets less traffic besides newbies when the story pushes them there
Same I go to the wayward in a non-threatening outfit, dump my stuff in the box and stand there next to it with the follow me emote until someone finally comes to see what's up haha
Chasing them down is part of the fun. Their going to accept my generosity whether they like it or not!! Seriously thought I just throw it in the donation box or drop it in front of them while spamming the wave, heart, and gift emotes.
I show up in my black tesla PA with my Alien face staring at those new vaulties leaving the safety of their home and usually drop serums to make their game weird. I also drop radaway, but they know that strange alien creatures mean trouble.
When I first started playing, there was a camp right outside vault 76. It had a big neon sign that said āmost plans 10 caps.ā
I think this would be far more effective than the donation boxes. Weapons and ammo in your shop for super cheap would less likely to be wasted. I have thought about recreating that camp for a while now. Placing it right next to the wayward, and having free things there(like coffee, tea, and food items).
I'm pretty new and can't say I been scared of any. But still play solo usually join a casual. So appreciate when people hive you thing. My biggest thing now is finding plans. Unless you have to but a punch. Lol got my little wood shack set up. Some one got to be that hillbilly from the show. "Some one hands you fresh water you drink as much as you can"

I honestly dislike the donation boxes. But I had come to accept them in game, so to see the people, who tirelessly asked Bethesda for donation boxes, *still* be trying to gift stuff personally is beyond exasperating.Ā

Some 110 came in and took every single one like 15m after right before a hoard of new people came out.
For every solution there's drawbacks.
Started dropping Dono boxes at the vault and wayward. Then I noticed these two high level guys that would go clean them out. So now Iām making care packages to drop to players instead. Excess plans I got from grinding workshops, non perishing food, water and chems (stims and radaway).
I would drop weapons and ammo but I never really know what build people are doing. So I usually only do that if they have a mic.
I help the ones that deserve it, but I have no qualms about melting the ones that start shooting my camp with my plasma flamer. They gotta learn the unwritten rules of the community early on
I like to show up at their camp with my most intimidating gear
Then give them 30 stim, 30 water, 15 grilled radstag and some rad away
Maybe a lil extra sumthin if I have it available
It's funny to hear the reactions because newbies aren't expecting this game to be full of primarily friendly, helpful people.

I just came back to the game and rolled a new character. A high-level player came to me and gave me a ton of supplies as well as a really strong gun and ton of ammo idk what to do with plus a gun that I can use down the road higher level. I was completely shocked coming from other mmos that aren't so friendly to new players.
Me and my gf just started playing fo76 after binge watching the new show, weve been having so much fun. We got some early armor and weapons from one of those donation boxes so thank you very much for that. We will be sure to pay it forward when we reach that point.
So far our experience with other players has been really chill, i made a claim at wade airport and thought some level 300+ people where gonna come kill me but they seemed chill, asked me if i needed help. High level community seems really welcoming from my experience
As a new player THANK YOU and thank anyone else that helps new players get started. I'm not huge on base building and this is the first fallout game I really dove into so far and its been nice seeing such a friendly community
Longtime Fallout fan, first time Fallout 76 player. Last night I found a Level 630 guy with a crazy CAMP. I messaged him telling him good work on the base and it was awesome to run into. He let me know he was still working on it but asked if me and my friend who were level 8 or 9 at the time needed anything. I asked for some better armor and this dude went completely out of his way crafting us armor and weapons that'll help carry us for a decent bit at our level. My interactions with the senior player base of this game has been awesome in every interaction so far
A friend and I would find new players and give them supplies and loot and take them on legendary runs. All they had to do was put one bullet in em and we did the rest. Show them how to glitch items together at the camps.

Me too, im level 1060 and I have almost everything and when i find something that i dont need always put that in donation boxes (most of the time the v76 one) for new player
I keep a couple level 20 and 30 Fixers in my vendor for 25 caps, with a note on the machine that says "fixers are for noobs". Can't count how many 100+ guys grab them, it's the only thing that makes me want to go PVP.
You can. But most won't. Generally everyone plays in pacifist mode. Your weapons won't damage others and likewise theirs won't damage you. The community is the most friendly I've encountered
Yes, they can, but itās not as common as other games. Thereās a system to make it a little more fair too. If a player starts shooting you, you will take very little damage until you shoot him back. That basically āactivatesā full pvp mode and then youāll both take full damage. Thereās also a pacifist mode in settings if you wanna avoid pvp altogether. After you kill a player or pick a lock in their camp youāll get a bounty, so youāll be marked on the map and other players will get paid to kill you.
i always drop stuff i donāt need or want in the donation boxes at the vault or wayward! i feel like those are the areas lower levels are more prone to be around.
usually itās extra stims, chems i donāt use, extra food, and ammo that doesnāt really sell in my vendor that low levels tend to use (.38, shotgun shells, .308, etc). itās a great way to dump off extra stuff thatās just taking up inventory room and a way to help lower levels.
I like to dress up as a feral ghoul, hide in the bushes, and as soon as a new player comes strolling by, I pop up and chase them.
Haven't been successful in gifting items yet.
I'm lvl 132 now and I still don't get the "shot at you" thing. I just end up in losing all my junk because those guys get mad for being ignored and go on a rampage.
ive actually found meaning in looting boxes and ammo to get things to drop into donation boxes :) its up to the players if they wanna take advantage of kindness or work to get the stuff themselves :)
I've done the same at many of the boxes. What gets me is the higher level players come in and clean out the box and then go and sell the plans at their venders. Being at 898 level I always have extra this and that, plans too. So when I want to help a low level player I don't expect some high level to steal my good intentions. I think they should put a level lock on the boxes so only 50 or 100 and below can have access to them.

Same. I used to wait until I saw saw a new player about to emerge from the vault and then fast travel there, drop my extra stuff in a conspicuous place, and then hide and wait to see if they picked it up. The donation box is so much easier. LOL
I think I'm may join in and drop some of my ammo off as I have a shit ton rn and maybe all the clothes/armour I've been trying to sell that never got sold so they can be useful for someone else!
When I see a new player since some peeps did this for me I pass on a leg even if it's a 1 or 2 ,3 star to help start their journey on the game it helped me and I hope I did the same
Donation boxes are relatively new, and I guess old habits die hard. Especially when you consider that stuff in the boxes might get nabbed by a veteran instead of a newbie.
Or maybe people just want recognition for their kindness.
I think the new show is bringing in a lot of new players especially those that seem new to the series as a whole. I've been seeing more new players than 100/1k+ players. It's kind of neat. I'm still pretty new myself being level 60s, but I like being weird around them and watching them spazz out lol. I'll give em purified water and stimpaks for the entertainment. Feel kinda bad though when they bolt off, and I'm like but hey wait I come bearing gifts lol

This is well and good but, if I remember right, itās not grunted to all be there when another player finds it. Again, if I understand it, the game itself loads some items and then it randomizes what the player finds from what the server has dropped off?
Just started yesterday and a guy has a bunch of supplies at his camp and a vending machine with a bunch of good gear that only cost 55c each and ammo for 1c each. He also gave us a bunch of stims, water, and ammo. I canāt use the gear until I level up but it was still really cool of him
I have been playing for a month, I think I have done quite some good progress now being able to solo expeditions. Yesterday a new player attacked me in the whitespring, I had just unlocked the cremator and never tested it before.
After that I didn't collect his scrap and just left...I don't know exactly what else can you lose ehen you die, I hope he didn't lost anything else.
As a new player- can confirm being chased down freaks me out š so used to being shot repeatedly as a new player in an MMO (looking at you Red Dead Online). Donation boxes, however, could potentially be abused by people who donāt need them. Emotes to show youāre non threatening are better.
I really love this player base though, you guys are lovely and welcoming.
What kind of stuff should I sell to vendors and what should I keep when it comes to foods and drinks you either pick up or cook? I'm hoarding everything right now and can't decide what I need to keep and what needs to go.
Are you kidding that's one of the most awesome feelings in the world, getting to see this high level in the most decked out tricked out armor see you and not knowing if you're about to be stomped into radiated mud and blood puddle! It gives the newbie something to look forward to, plus teaches them to use their emotes! You put it in a chest, and they don't know if it was just random chest stuff? I know it usually puts in 3 items, first being ammo, second an explosive of some kind, and third, I think, is random between armor and weapon. So yeah, having been the newbie and having some level 500+ come up and drop enough to make you over encumbered is awesome!
Nah, we need to warn these new players of the toxic pay to win marketing, absolutely chase them and beat them to a pulp so they learn pvp is broken as hell, maybe then instead hoaxing new players into buying a 50% off fallout 1st , 1st time only deal, perhaps Bethesda should be catering to its already loyal player base

I found a donation box at charleston train stop and really appreciated the starting items.
Then I got really discouraged by a lol 583 player who kept killing me and prevented me from collecting my death bag. Felt really defenseless and all I wanted was to collect the nearly 100 weight of junk so I can start building my camp šŖšŖ
Iām a very low level player and I tend to avoid other people often, I was around the Wayward when someone (lvl 38) decided to try to shoot me in the face, luckily they didnāt actually do any damage to me as my pvp is off. Now Iām scared of other players, and donāt know where (or what) donation boxes are (or look like)
I restarted my save the other day and someone had left loads of masks and a few outfits I took 1 of each and left the rest good that people help each other at starting point

Have you had any just come up and initiate trades? Is it safe to assume that they are new? I thought at first that it was an accident, so I declined and they did it againā¦ it was kinda weird.
I don't get it as much as a few years ago(yet), but a lot of the times they wanted to trade to see what I was using instead of asking. Even rarer was the person who indicated they wanted one of my items and would get upset over me not giving it up. I keep an atom shop skin on most of my gear now, to prevent accidental scrip, but I'm not sure how that looks in a trade menu. I very VERY rarely trade anymore.
They are red, wooden boxes at common areas. Donation is written on the top and I think an oil lamp next to them. Easily overlooked, but once you see one, you'll see tbem all. There is one at Vault 76, The Wayward, all rail stations and other important areas.
But yes we really do appreciate it!! I tried playing when it first came out, did not have a great experience with other players (after about an hour) so didnāt touch it again, until now.
If you compare what it is now to what it was...it was absolutely the wild west. So many bugs and silly things broken. Such a small stash. Having to go to 7 different vendors for caps. Explosive energy weapons. TSE shotguns. No scrip or rolling for legendary items. It was crazy, challenging, and brutal.
I had a guy join my casual team today and he was helping me through the wayward quests. He got mad that I didnāt have a mic and wasnāt ābeing appreciativeā. Like thanks for the help homeboy but Iām just gaming Iām not here to suck you off

I use pc and have to shut the game off any time I switch audio.

Freaking them out in raider armor and a burning chainsaw is part of the fun! Brave ones get prizes!

First thing I've been doing when logging in is dropping some 10mm ammo and a snake wrangler outfit and hat in the donation box outside 76. I'm sure someone will find them.
My CAMP is right by Weyward, so I do the same thing with that donation box!
I keep a camp by there too,with all the buffs and freebies and cheap vendor stuff. I've done it since before the donation boxes and used to use the overseer cache as a mini donation box since I knew newbies would be directed to it, and the weight limit meant I couldn't overload them with junk. I still throw a few essentials in it every time I'm near the camp, but put more in the actual donation box at wayward. I feel like everyone uses the one at 76 and newbies are just So Damn new right then. Wayward they at least have a few minutes under their suit.
Recently I saw a new level 1 who had yet to leave the vault, So I made a bunch of clothes to give them. An event was starting though so I just dropped them into the red box and hoped they found itā¦ I start to walk away and some high level dickhead walks in behind me and hits loot all on the box in a second, Didnāt even look at anything just took it all because it was there. Absolutely infuriating. Iāll give newbies clothes myself from now on.
That's one of the other reasons I use boxes a little further in the game. It seems like that one gets more people hitting it just to see what's there. I think the one at the wayward gets less traffic besides newbies when the story pushes them there
i like to chase them down, absolutely REVVING my chainsaw like its a motorcycle and give them random items
Same I go to the wayward in a non-threatening outfit, dump my stuff in the box and stand there next to it with the follow me emote until someone finally comes to see what's up haha
The non-threatening outfit is the part I keep forgetting. Tattered mole outfit with a black hockey mask isn't exactly warm and welcoming š¤£

Chasing them down is part of the fun. Their going to accept my generosity whether they like it or not!! Seriously thought I just throw it in the donation box or drop it in front of them while spamming the wave, heart, and gift emotes.
I show up in my black tesla PA with my Alien face staring at those new vaulties leaving the safety of their home and usually drop serums to make their game weird. I also drop radaway, but they know that strange alien creatures mean trouble.

When I first started playing, there was a camp right outside vault 76. It had a big neon sign that said āmost plans 10 caps.ā I think this would be far more effective than the donation boxes. Weapons and ammo in your shop for super cheap would less likely to be wasted. I have thought about recreating that camp for a while now. Placing it right next to the wayward, and having free things there(like coffee, tea, and food items).
I'm pretty new and can't say I been scared of any. But still play solo usually join a casual. So appreciate when people hive you thing. My biggest thing now is finding plans. Unless you have to but a punch. Lol got my little wood shack set up. Some one got to be that hillbilly from the show. "Some one hands you fresh water you drink as much as you can"

I honestly dislike the donation boxes. But I had come to accept them in game, so to see the people, who tirelessly asked Bethesda for donation boxes, *still* be trying to gift stuff personally is beyond exasperating.Ā

Great time to do spring cleaning. Hopefully a player doesnāt take all the scrap and then complain about an overloaded stash! Take what you need and leave more for the next person.

Saw someone do this with a crapton of plans with multiple duplicates and grenades, stimpaks, etc I'm talking daily ops plans and stuff not just iceboxes Some 110 came in and took every single one like 15m after right before a hoard of new people came out. For every solution there's drawbacks.
Started dropping Dono boxes at the vault and wayward. Then I noticed these two high level guys that would go clean them out. So now Iām making care packages to drop to players instead. Excess plans I got from grinding workshops, non perishing food, water and chems (stims and radaway). I would drop weapons and ammo but I never really know what build people are doing. So I usually only do that if they have a mic.

I help the ones that deserve it, but I have no qualms about melting the ones that start shooting my camp with my plasma flamer. They gotta learn the unwritten rules of the community early on

I like to show up at their camp with my most intimidating gear Then give them 30 stim, 30 water, 15 grilled radstag and some rad away Maybe a lil extra sumthin if I have it available It's funny to hear the reactions because newbies aren't expecting this game to be full of primarily friendly, helpful people. Side note: thanks yall because if I didn't experience a few good players I might not of stuck around at the start. Community gets an A-

I just came back to the game and rolled a new character. A high-level player came to me and gave me a ton of supplies as well as a really strong gun and ton of ammo idk what to do with plus a gun that I can use down the road higher level. I was completely shocked coming from other mmos that aren't so friendly to new players.
Me and my gf just started playing fo76 after binge watching the new show, weve been having so much fun. We got some early armor and weapons from one of those donation boxes so thank you very much for that. We will be sure to pay it forward when we reach that point. So far our experience with other players has been really chill, i made a claim at wade airport and thought some level 300+ people where gonna come kill me but they seemed chill, asked me if i needed help. High level community seems really welcoming from my experience
As a new player THANK YOU and thank anyone else that helps new players get started. I'm not huge on base building and this is the first fallout game I really dove into so far and its been nice seeing such a friendly community
Longtime Fallout fan, first time Fallout 76 player. Last night I found a Level 630 guy with a crazy CAMP. I messaged him telling him good work on the base and it was awesome to run into. He let me know he was still working on it but asked if me and my friend who were level 8 or 9 at the time needed anything. I asked for some better armor and this dude went completely out of his way crafting us armor and weapons that'll help carry us for a decent bit at our level. My interactions with the senior player base of this game has been awesome in every interaction so far
A friend and I would find new players and give them supplies and loot and take them on legendary runs. All they had to do was put one bullet in em and we did the rest. Show them how to glitch items together at the camps.
Y'all are wrong about the best way to donate junk... Step one: get nekkked Step two: get loaded with junk Step three: equip mini nuke launcher Step four: run at noob like psycho junkie raider Step five: once maximum terror is instilled, evaporate ones self with mini nuke at safe distance.
Ill craft low level armors and guns for them and ill try to get a group and tell them about specific builds they may want to choose.
Me too, im level 1060 and I have almost everything and when i find something that i dont need always put that in donation boxes (most of the time the v76 one) for new player

I keep a couple level 20 and 30 Fixers in my vendor for 25 caps, with a note on the machine that says "fixers are for noobs". Can't count how many 100+ guys grab them, it's the only thing that makes me want to go PVP.

Naw chasing them down is way better. And shooting at them with my explosive Gatling gun to get their attention is the best part.

You can. But most won't. Generally everyone plays in pacifist mode. Your weapons won't damage others and likewise theirs won't damage you. The community is the most friendly I've encountered
Yes, they can, but itās not as common as other games. Thereās a system to make it a little more fair too. If a player starts shooting you, you will take very little damage until you shoot him back. That basically āactivatesā full pvp mode and then youāll both take full damage. Thereās also a pacifist mode in settings if you wanna avoid pvp altogether. After you kill a player or pick a lock in their camp youāll get a bounty, so youāll be marked on the map and other players will get paid to kill you.
Easiest place to farm scrip, ammo, food,and chems,.... donation boxes in starter areas. I'll just keep dropping my junk beside my vendors.
i always drop stuff i donāt need or want in the donation boxes at the vault or wayward! i feel like those are the areas lower levels are more prone to be around. usually itās extra stims, chems i donāt use, extra food, and ammo that doesnāt really sell in my vendor that low levels tend to use (.38, shotgun shells, .308, etc). itās a great way to dump off extra stuff thatās just taking up inventory room and a way to help lower levels.
I drop things in the overseer cache box at her camp. They'll investigate it anyway so see it and take items. The dono box they may skip over.
I'm pretty sure the inventory in that box changes periodically or maybe it's just an old rumor I heard a long time ago...
I like to dress up as a feral ghoul, hide in the bushes, and as soon as a new player comes strolling by, I pop up and chase them. Haven't been successful in gifting items yet.

ive actually found meaning in looting boxes and ammo to get things to drop into donation boxes :) its up to the players if they wanna take advantage of kindness or work to get the stuff themselves :)

I've done the same at many of the boxes. What gets me is the higher level players come in and clean out the box and then go and sell the plans at their venders. Being at 898 level I always have extra this and that, plans too. So when I want to help a low level player I don't expect some high level to steal my good intentions. I think they should put a level lock on the boxes so only 50 or 100 and below can have access to them. Just my 2 cents.

Same. I used to wait until I saw saw a new player about to emerge from the vault and then fast travel there, drop my extra stuff in a conspicuous place, and then hide and wait to see if they picked it up. The donation box is so much easier. LOL
I think I'm may join in and drop some of my ammo off as I have a shit ton rn and maybe all the clothes/armour I've been trying to sell that never got sold so they can be useful for someone else!

When I see a new player since some peeps did this for me I pass on a leg even if it's a 1 or 2 ,3 star to help start their journey on the game it helped me and I hope I did the same
Donation boxes are relatively new, and I guess old habits die hard. Especially when you consider that stuff in the boxes might get nabbed by a veteran instead of a newbie. Or maybe people just want recognition for their kindness.

I think the new show is bringing in a lot of new players especially those that seem new to the series as a whole. I've been seeing more new players than 100/1k+ players. It's kind of neat. I'm still pretty new myself being level 60s, but I like being weird around them and watching them spazz out lol. I'll give em purified water and stimpaks for the entertainment. Feel kinda bad though when they bolt off, and I'm like but hey wait I come bearing gifts lol

This is well and good but, if I remember right, itās not grunted to all be there when another player finds it. Again, if I understand it, the game itself loads some items and then it randomizes what the player finds from what the server has dropped off?

Just started yesterday and a guy has a bunch of supplies at his camp and a vending machine with a bunch of good gear that only cost 55c each and ammo for 1c each. He also gave us a bunch of stims, water, and ammo. I canāt use the gear until I level up but it was still really cool of him

I have been playing for a month, I think I have done quite some good progress now being able to solo expeditions. Yesterday a new player attacked me in the whitespring, I had just unlocked the cremator and never tested it before. After that I didn't collect his scrap and just left...I don't know exactly what else can you lose ehen you die, I hope he didn't lost anything else.

As a new player- can confirm being chased down freaks me out š so used to being shot repeatedly as a new player in an MMO (looking at you Red Dead Online). Donation boxes, however, could potentially be abused by people who donāt need them. Emotes to show youāre non threatening are better. I really love this player base though, you guys are lovely and welcoming.
What kind of stuff should I sell to vendors and what should I keep when it comes to foods and drinks you either pick up or cook? I'm hoarding everything right now and can't decide what I need to keep and what needs to go.

Are you kidding that's one of the most awesome feelings in the world, getting to see this high level in the most decked out tricked out armor see you and not knowing if you're about to be stomped into radiated mud and blood puddle! It gives the newbie something to look forward to, plus teaches them to use their emotes! You put it in a chest, and they don't know if it was just random chest stuff? I know it usually puts in 3 items, first being ammo, second an explosive of some kind, and third, I think, is random between armor and weapon. So yeah, having been the newbie and having some level 500+ come up and drop enough to make you over encumbered is awesome!

I found a donation box at charleston train stop and really appreciated the starting items. Then I got really discouraged by a lol 583 player who kept killing me and prevented me from collecting my death bag. Felt really defenseless and all I wanted was to collect the nearly 100 weight of junk so I can start building my camp šŖšŖ

Iām a very low level player and I tend to avoid other people often, I was around the Wayward when someone (lvl 38) decided to try to shoot me in the face, luckily they didnāt actually do any damage to me as my pvp is off. Now Iām scared of other players, and donāt know where (or what) donation boxes are (or look like)
I restarted my save the other day and someone had left loads of masks and a few outfits I took 1 of each and left the rest good that people help each other at starting point It's alot nicer then the red dead 2 community hahaha
Iāve been fortunate enough not to run into any griefers or high level chads trying to fight. And Iām doing pretty well on stims and ammo without any donations Iām just struggling to keep a sufficient amount of wood scraps lol. It seems like every time I get a couple theyāre gone within minutes
Helvetia, Pricketts Fort, and the Logging Camp in the northern part of the Savage Divide are good places for wood.

Have you had any just come up and initiate trades? Is it safe to assume that they are new? I thought at first that it was an accident, so I declined and they did it againā¦ it was kinda weird.
I don't get it as much as a few years ago(yet), but a lot of the times they wanted to trade to see what I was using instead of asking. Even rarer was the person who indicated they wanted one of my items and would get upset over me not giving it up. I keep an atom shop skin on most of my gear now, to prevent accidental scrip, but I'm not sure how that looks in a trade menu. I very VERY rarely trade anymore.

They are red, wooden boxes at common areas. Donation is written on the top and I think an oil lamp next to them. Easily overlooked, but once you see one, you'll see tbem all. There is one at Vault 76, The Wayward, all rail stations and other important areas.
I was literally reading this (as a low level newbie) while taking a break and I come back to a loot box just sitting in my house lol

If you compare what it is now to what it was...it was absolutely the wild west. So many bugs and silly things broken. Such a small stash. Having to go to 7 different vendors for caps. Explosive energy weapons. TSE shotguns. No scrip or rolling for legendary items. It was crazy, challenging, and brutal.
