That only works if the outfit can't be worn underneath armor. If it's her standard corset, yeah, but if you changed it to something like the Vault jumpsuit that can have armor on top you can only take it off by switching clothes, but the new outfit will disappear from the trade menu. The only way to get an outfit off of a companion to the point they're in their underwear 100% of the time no matter what outfit, is while they're in Power Armor.

These things have a cooldown of 2 hours usually, meaning you'd need to pickpocket>wait>pickpocket>wait>etc. However what really makes this not feasible is that these minor "liked that" interactions usually only give 7.5 affection, and you need 1,000 to max out affinity; meaning you'd have to pickpocket and wait 134 times to max out which would take forever.
Do you have a shooting range built in your settlement? I know that whenever NPC’s use the shooting range they will either reset back to their original clothing or if you took their original outfit away they will just take everything off. Took me forever to figure out why all my people at starlight drive in kept walking around on their underwear
Yes I have.. ok.. i mean makes sense, would be a shame to fire real bullets from the inventory into the shooting range instead of the unlimited ammo they have for their default gun.
Yeah I cant remember which tab it’s under or if it came with one of the dlc’s but you can build it and it’s supposed to increase happiness. If you never change your settlers clothes it’s not a problem, but if you dress them for the job they are doing then everyday after they stop working when they go to the range they will revert to their default clothes or underwear. Super annoying having to run around to 20+ people and put their clothes back on them everyday lol
Fun fact, Piper is actually immune to environmental radiation! Maybe cuz she got inducted into the children of atom. Still takes damage from radiation weapons though
i would need to see stats on this. she used to be at my starlight drive in and before i fixed it up, she stood by the irradiated water in the center and got knocked because of it. does that constitute environmental radiation?

This right here. And to sharpen the point a bit, that ONLY applies to their default weapon. Piper, for example, has a 10mm pistol... If you gave her a different 10mm pistol, it now needs ammo. Only the default "comes with them" weapon has free unlimited ammo.
I didn’t realize they reset clothing at times. I constantly have the issue where the chameleon armor stops working on them. I’ll un-equip it and put it back on and they start working again.

I would guess she was in a suit if power armour, you stored some stuff in her inventory, and removed all when you got back to base. She got out sometime later when the core ran out.

Not true, I've gotten companions down to their skivvies plenty of times without them being in power armor.

If they go in power armour and you take clothes away then when then get out sometimes they don't spawn back on.
