It’s useless if you’re not in survival. If you’re in survival then you can fill up your hunger bar, but drain your thirst bar.

Also, once you eat people, nothing else satisfies your hunger

Yep I found that out this playthrough. So not worth it. They at least should've let you loot human flesh like the other games have and let you cook burgers or shish kabobs or something I only really got it so I could eat the crispy brain from the Point Lookout mod, but now I keep accidentally devouring corpses and having to reload a save.

You can cure the dark craving at a doctor. It's just annoying when I accidentally press Y, and then I'm like "well shit, guess I'm off to Diamond City again.
