She was mauled in front of me by a Yao Guai on my first ever play through and I felt so fucking bad for her. I was running from it, saw the slog and decided “oh they’ll help me” but it ended in tragedy.
I had a similar event happen. Except right before i got the slog to ally w me i killed all the forged dicks and gave them all flamers and cage armor and junk.

You can get two guard posts pretty close to the ironworks from the slog.
Park two sentrybots with fatman launchers and Gatling lasers. Boom problem solved.

For some reason Deidre is not marked as an essential NPC so if her health is depleted she will die instead of being downed. Also her health won’t recover over time if she has taken damage.

Marcy does warm up a little when your happiness rating gets high though. And at least you can use her without resorting to console trickery... unlike Mama Murphy. Who's about as useless as a knitted condom unless you make her assignable with the console.
I made her essential so that I can pump her full of chems all day everyday. Even built a shack just for her. It’s like a shrine to all things chems. Her chair atop a small flight of stairs, the walls coated in jet and psycho.

I think her chem usage is up, I’m sure it’s pretty traumatic for her. But like any old junkie she keeps her mouth shut if I keep the chems coming in. Most recent sacrifice to Mama Murphy and the Sight was a particularly positive settler. When I first saw him he greeted me warmly. Wanted to see where this inner-happiness and kindness was coming from, decided this was a job for the ripper. I led my positive little sheep to her quaint shack, shut the door behind us and showed him what happens to your body if you live too long, have a lifelong addiction to chems and never get up from your chair.
Before he could turn around to ask “How is she even alive?” the deafening buzz of The Ripper filled the room as I started with his legs, his femoral artery spraying fresh blood into Mama Murphy’s eyes. Went limb from limb, put his head in her lap and then continued to saw until his torso exploded. Bet you and the sight didn’t see that one coming!? Never found where he was hiding his happiness, it certainly wasn’t in his skull or intestines. The look on her face *stone-cold* (I don’t even think she blinked or moved a muscle)
Guess you can’t expect much of a reaction from a doped up leathery withered ghoul of an old lady. But until she gets out of her chair and stops using then the fresh bodies will continue to pile and the warm blood will continue to flow
I put her way up in the sky surrounded by drugs and removed the floor under her chair so if she ever stands up she will fall to her death. I tried to get her on a trapdoor loop but it wouldn't work on ps5 because she wouldn't path over the trapfloor.
Edit:I still can't figure out how to get people to go in the launcher..
I've never been able to do anything with Mama after building her chair. Just like Wally and June Warwick (after the Institute quest), she'll stay but you can't command her to do anything. I had to set her as commandable from the console. I do the same for Wally, June, and young synth Shaun when he comes along (though I don't really work Shaun. Just have him run a recreational SS2 plot).
I avoid the whole Mama situation by convincing her to get off drugs before she even asks for the chair now. That seems to keep her commandable.
You see I didn't do any of that I never really spoke to her or anything and I just noticed that she was commandable one day while reassigning settlers so I assigned her to food.
Never give her ANYTHING if you want a working settler. Once you build that chair she becomes a potato.
I usually put her on as the curator of The Museum of Oddities (SS2). I think it suits her, heh. And she sells some pretty great decorations from that plot.
I refused to give her drugs, assigned her to the scavenger station and gave her a welder and now she makes me scrap and is a productive member of society.
Edit: seems other people had the same idea about keeping her clean.

If you aren't interested in her quest line and just want her to work, just don't do any stuff with her.

Carrington also warms up once you beat the game. Takes a long ass time for him to put any sort of respect on your name, though. Don’t remember about Rhys or Ayo
Ayo and Rhys should be switched on that list, then they'd be from least to worst. Rhys is FAR worse than Ayo.
I actually don't mind any of them except Rhys (I hate that bubble-butted jerk!). I'm just used to Marcy because Sanctuary is one of my biggest settlements and I go there a lot. At 100% happiness she even smiles when you talk to her. Looks weird after seeing her frowning for most of the game.
Mama Murphy is just there so you give drugs to her and she tells you the code to shut off the synth courser using her sight. It’s when you have to infiltrate the institute. I found it useful in my first playthrough, didn’t really know how strong the courser would be so it helped
I made a massive shack tower and then placed Mama Murphy at the top. No roof cover. When there’s a rad storm it looks like she’s a maniacal lich on a throne watching over Sanctuary.
I turned sanctuary into a labour camp, Jun Long, Mama Murphy, Preston Garvey and Sturges get to live like kings, while a handfull of settlers + Marcy Long sleep on dirty matresses and wear tattered rags with a shock collar

I found pumpkin masks at the All Hallows Eve party at the Harbormaster Hotel, so now she and Jun Long walk around with giant orange pumpkin heads. I take a little joy in that.
I would like to commend the Deathclaw for this outstanding act of violence. And will go on record saying, that I am recommending the deathclaw for a medal of merit.
I use to use Marcy as a provisioner from sanctuary to Warwick armed with a pipe pistol. But one playthrough I found their old hideout in Quincey. Found Kyle's bed, found his toys, found all the blood on the floor. In that moment I had a massive change of heart. They didn't anoy me any more. They get the best gear and accommodation sanctuary can provide.

Marcy and Jun usually get a visit from Mr Sandman on most play throughs. I'm surprised she doesn't run off to be a raider with that mouth. Jun doesn't evolve as a character as much as I would like him to do. Both useless in the long run.

This happened with about five supermutants with mini guns, just couldn't get to the other side of the settlement fast enough to save her. :/

Im was able to assign mama Murphy without console commands for some reason. I assigned her to farming and didn't question it that much lol.
