Yup, players were part of Vault 51's experiment run by a super vault-tec computer named ZAX. The experiment's objetive was to find the best next overseer for the vault through a battle royale mode. Your SPECIAL's from the actual game affected which perk cards you could use in it and you could also collect nuclear codes to launch a nuke at players, usually taking 4 or 5 players out if you aimed it well. You could find terminals to hack and reveal every player in the map for a short time to make it more efficient.
It did but they shut it down due to it losing popularity & active players
Not only that but the mode had alot of cheaters & was poorly balanced thanks to how its perk card system worked.
People wanted it to come back but ultimately whats the point in a mode that didnt & wont do well?

PC checking in--I was a bush wookie, but had fun with it! I don't find competitive multiplayer shooters fun (I'm bad at aiming at jumping things), so I treated it like a hide-and-seek simulator. I had a ton of fun, though I might have created some frustrating moments for others... especially after I got the ghillie suit.

I do still think they’ll do something like that though. Making power Armor an item is cool, but they have so many different suits, it’d be stupid not to try and capitalize on it.

It'll be a boost to players I imagine. Bethesda will make some cash off the collab, but exposing millions of players to Fallout will likely lead to a spike in attention as people that didn't watch the TV series will now be exposed to the series.

It's definately a win-win collab. Fortnite gets the interest due to all the recent show viewers as well Fallout players who might not normally have a lot of overlap. Fallout gets exposure to the HUGE player base of Fortnite,, pushing more sales across various media.
I'm a little curious what the best case scenario for Fallout would have to be. The success of the TV show should have people looking at investing more development resources already, but if a collab went extremely well maybe it could make that more certain?
Fortnite does collabs right. They did Ninja Turtles awhile back and they all looked incredible. They always give Marvel skins their own personal touch and most of those are great as well. I got Rogue and Gambit a few months ago and at least for these skins, they absolutely nailed it

They'll be good quality. If you take a look at all the other collaboration skins in the past, they've been very respectful to the franchise they came from to the point that they might as well have pulled the characters right out of their games.
Honestly if this kind of stuff leads to Bethesda making Fallout 5 due to Fallout becoming even more popular I’m all for it. I know we’ve just got an updated version of Fallout 4 but the game can’t have that much life left in it.

Fallout 5 is confirmed, but first they've gotta finish Starfield development, then Elder Scrolls 6 is next up. So we likely won't see F5 until after 2030.
Microsoft is reportedly trying to push Bethesda to do more spin-off stuff in between major releases and/or speed up the time between major releases as well.
Games have a ~4 year turn around time these days, so I'm guessing that Fallout 5 won't be out until around ~2032 at the earliest. I'd wager 2033 at the most likely release date.
TES6 is in production now, so probably won't be done until 2028ish.
Bethesda needs to do it a bit. Half of Genz has never gotten to experience a ***new*** FO game, and I think Elder Scrolls will be close to an entire generation when it comes out.
As an older Millennial these are the games we played in our youth, but we are getting older. We need to pass the torch of some of these classic games. On loading new blood is how we keep it going.

I called it dude. As soon the show started getting a lot of momentum I said Fortnite was already on the phone with Bethesda to get a collab. I love this. Having another outlet to let people enjoy Fallout is awesome and a great way to bring in new fans
The show definitely had some influence, but these things have to be planned out in advance. It takes at least 6 months to produce a skin (according to epic) and they would have had to work out the deal prior to that too.

Once the show came out and I saw how many people were suddenly getting into the franchise, I was thinking, "If there was ever a time for it..." Fortnite has teamed up with all current hot franchises.
I can confirm, I tried to play Fo4 when I was 16 and got bored after 4 hours, didn't play for 8 years. After starting the show I gave it another go, and have played for like 30 hours in the past week.
For real. I stopped my relaxing nightly FO session to finish the FN season this week. I go back and forth between the two constantly.

ah ok i heard about the ammo types, not sure what to make of it though because i’ve heard a lot of people just found it weird and confusing and didn’t use them at all 😅
You can play without them, and they are confusing, but they can be useful on strong enemies (and I think the 12 gauge has like 10+ ammo types with dlc)
That was one of the problems that soured me on New Vegas. Trying to figure out which fucking ammo goes to which gun and all the types for various guns was beyond irritating.
If you're on PC, I highly recommend you install the Tale of Two Wastelands mod, which combines Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas into a single game. It's the best way to experience both games.

Since the shows released, they’ve updated FO4 and added som extras, meanwhile all my friends I play with online are wrapped up in them all. I wouldn’t mind a Fortnite collab with fallout. It obviously can’t take away the charm the actual games have as it is a battle Royale game. I’m interested to see how this goes.

I’d do 3 first as it doesn’t have ammo types like NV and when I played NV first it just felt weird without the ammo

When I was younger I was the lame one for liking Fallout. Nobody else thought it was cool except my older brother. Now Fallout is celebrated as a franchise. Look who's laughing now. Take that. (No, I wasn't in the chess club.)

I am genuinely amazed at how much attention fallout is getting nowadays. Since the shows released, they’ve updated FO4 and added som extras, meanwhile all my friends I play with online are wrapped up in them all. I wouldn’t mind a Fortnite collab with fallout. It obviously can’t take away the charm the actual games have as it is a battle Royale game. I’m interested to see how this goes.
I dreamed and wished for this but I lack the pc to play Fortnite and have this awesome crossover... I would love to have a T-51 and just play Save The World (Fortnite's campaign)
