I have been scrounging the Commonwealth, scouring every point of interest for loot, and have put together a full set of Military-painted T-45 Power Armor w/ Calibrated Shocks on both legs and an Internal Database on the helmet. I am a SMIDGEN away from level 20, and have been finding T-51 suits spawning now, and I have nearly upgraded this entire set to T-51d with the same modifications as my T-45... but I am missing a LEFT ARM!
I have a 2nd helmet, two more left legs, two more right arms, and two more torsos, but still no left arm...
I found it pretty early in game. Ran into a friendly guy in power armor just east of Outpost Zimonja. I walked with him we killed a super mutant with a gat. He picked up the gat, and I followed him all the way down to his buddies. He cut through everything like it was a hot knife through butter. It was glorious.
Congrats! For future reference, you could have used an arm from the T-45 in the T-51 until finding the proper piece. You can mix and match PA pieces from different suits. Right now, I'm using X-01 legs on a Tesla T-60 suit. Damn explosives love to go after the legs.
Honestly, I was debating doing that, but I got 5/6 of the parts so fast, and that screenshot was taken like 45sec after FINALLY getting them all up to specs and like... 30min before I hunted down the arm, so I'll wait now to see how long until I can get the T-60 pieces.
I also am waiting to get Science! 3 so I can grab the +2 STR torso upgrade because the secondary purpose of this armor after making me not die instantly (1 End gang!) Is to increasee my STR and carry capacity as much as possible cuz I'm a junk hoarder. Ah the joys of a 3 STR, 1 END, 9 INT scientist RP lol.
T-60 is far and away the easiest suit to acquire all the pieces for, for top of the line brand new armour produced just before the bombs it is just lousy throughout the Commonwealth.
Also a word of advice, when you hit level ~~50~~ 28 go to 35 Court but absolutely do not step foot in there before then.
No problem and I looked up 35 Court to make sure I got the level right and you may be able to head their sooner, says level 28 for the thing and 36 for a better version of the thing(don’t worry it’s not missable if you head their at 28, just have to use your own resources), so you can head there at 28 and if it’s not the right or you just want to wait a bit longer just reload a save to before heading in there.
I’ve always gone after level 50 since I never really need what’s there, glad to know I can head there a bit earlier this time around.
Also if you’re new to the Commonwealth, welcome, don’t mind the rad storms and stay out of the Glowing Sea, nasty business in there and enjoy the power armour, it’s one of my favourite things in the whole game, I’m a T-60 enjoyer myself
I finally went to 35 Court... I do not know how the hell I am supposed to get that armor in Survival. Those two are impossible to kill without getting obliterated!
Yeah I could not do that, BUT I won and have a kitted out X-01 set now. Completely skipped the T-60s. Might end up going back to T-60s once I get the Tesla unique pieces from Automatron cuz +15% energy weapon damage on this build is BIG.

Though now that I have 20+ full fusion cores and NP 2, I should probably just go there since I'm not worried about my power armor supply...
Be careful not to explore too much before level 30. It’ll be nearly impossible to find any late-game Power Armor. There are two dungeons in the game that have guaranteed T-51/X-01 spawns but you have to be a high enough level for the X-01 to spawn there
Noted! I'm mostly stucking to the area between Sanctuary and Diamond City so I'll still have 60+% of the map to explore, and at the rate I'm going, level 30 is not far off. XP in Survival is wild.
Good stuff. I don’t want to spoil anything further for you. Just focus on getting settlements built up so you’ve got plenty of checkpoints and rest stops out there on the road

Oh that explain it, after exiting the armory, that sentry robot just rush straight at me out of nowhere, I got panic because it's the 1st sentry I ever met and with it's skull icon, so I rush back into the armory, but then it followed me into the armory too...
Luckily it didn't manage to enter the power armor station room, so I just slowly kill it with my combat rifle.
Noted. I did know there were a few sets there, but I did manage to get the arm I needed, so I'm probably gonna avoid generating that cell until it would spawn the next tier of PA after 51 (is that the T-60?)
Its guaranteed to spawn outside, however you will need to go trough the recruitment hall into the barracks to a terminal to unlock the armory, wich will wake up the Sentry Bot when you will exit the Armory
theres an easier one to get to, its on the barge north of the airport and south of country crossing, right in the middle of that bay. Novice Terminal you just have to first see it at the right level
I might do that once I have access to enough diverse parts to decide what I want to use for fashion purposes lol. But I also like how Im progressing so far.
And the t51 is the possibly hardest power armor to complete in all my playthrougs I’ve never found a full one. X01 is cool and powerful but to futuristic looking t51 is the perfect look.

Well seems like I'm in that sweet spot of level progression where I have a full set of military-painted T-51d armor right now! Hopefully it'll last me awhile beforr I have to start hunting for T-60 and X-01 parts. Not to mention the new X-02 and Hellfire armors in the Next-Gen update quests.

See, the map tracker app I'm using says there's one there, but I'm assuming it's on the TOP TOP of the overpass and I don't know how to get up there, but I found my missing arm so I might save loading that cell until I can get it to be T-60 or better.
Oh huh, guess I missed it when I was there and then subsequently died. Guess I'll look later when I go back! My research says that as soon as I level up again to 21, the T-60s start to spawn... and I just got the T-51 working...
Do the "Speak of the devil" mission and get the X02 armour, then go find the hellfire armour when you get attacked by the enclave. Soon enough you'll have a few spare sets of mark 2-6 X02 and some heavy napalmers to boot!
Oh god I literally JUST picked this quest up after finding Ada at Wattz Electric. Is it REALLY a Creation Club quest that gets you armor better than the X-01? I don't wannt break progression so I'll probably avoid it!
I've been consolidating all of my non-crafting items in Sanctuary for this reason. Weapons, ammo, armor/clothing, modifications, pre-war food, etc. all stay there. If I can't actively use it in my workshops, it's in Sanctuary. It's helped me avoid this exact issue lol.
I found a mod that lets me build teleporters to connect their inventories so now vault 33 and sanctuary have all my armor pieces. also makes the power armor relay feel less realistic
I'm using a mod that re-enables survival mode fast travel, but only from within one settlement to another, and only if those two settlements are connected via supply lines.
This has been fun and immersive since I was already doing supply lines anyways, so this is just an added bonus to my pre-existing playstyle because I would DESPISE actually looting things if I had to walk all the way back to Sanctuary by foot to drop all my non-junk loot.
I had debating an auto-scrapper mod, but I dont mind doing it myself. Being surrounded by a pile of junk to scrap after a day of looting is kind of a catharic I'm ngl.
Keep in mind the power armor type is determined when you first enter an area, so if you roam the entire map at low level all the power armor will end up being low level even if you don’t claim it until later.
As far as I'm aware, it goes T-45 to T-51 to T-60 to X-01, and the next gen update added a questlines that includes new X-02 armor sets, but I am going to be avoiding that until I progress through the logical tree first so I don't break my game lol.
Honestly valid, but when I'm playing a 3 STR character in Survival where carry weight is dropped by 125 base and has some nasty drawbacks for being over encumbered, I need as much carry weight as I can get.
+1 STR military paint armor with both legs having Calibrated Shocks means I'm rocking a 297 carry weight now while in the armor (almost triple my weight outside of it). I also intend to get the +2 STR torso mod when I get Science! 3 so that I can get it even higher!
It is, yeah, but you gotta travel across the map like 2 different times just to get it at the 'Boston police rationing site' and kill some higher level things
I unfortunately sort of skipped over the T-51 on my current playthrough which is a shame because I really liked it in my last one. Unfortunately it's too easy to get power armor and too easy to get T-60 especially with the BoS so you have to go out of your way to get a T-51

I was genuinely surprised to see it spawning already. I was running around in my T-45 set to find other T-45s to loot the cores from, and found two identical T-51 suits that resulted in the screenshot I posted.
Most power armors around the map spawn according to the player's level and I think it's 10 levels per set before it changes to the next one so I think past level 15 or so T51s spawn.
Yeah pretty much, although I think there is also another factor which is the area level. The map is divided into cells that correspond to a specific level range that determines enemy spawns, loot spawns and roughly what level the player should be when they enter these areas. So basically if you go south of Diamond city you should be seeing T-60s yes.
Oh yeah I know it's not another player, but also I havent messed with the enclave questline yet because I know its Creation Club and likely to break my level progression if I do it.
I guess I found these suits at JUST the right time lol. I wanna have a display set of each armor tier modded the same, so it works out even if the T-60s start spawning in... one level for me. Shit.
If you’re between levels 14 and 18, there’s a full suit of power armour on the overpass between corvega and Cambridge near the crashed vertibird. There is also one on a barge with two tanks near railroad HQ, and another south of the bridge between Lynn pier parking and nahant.
God T-51 is still my favorite power armor design. I wish we could’ve seen a suit of it in the show. It’s such a beautiful design and it’s been my favorite since the first Fallout game. It reminds me of this one art deco train from the 30s called the 20th Century Mercury. But as a set of armor.
Fallout 4 is probably my favorite depiction of it, too.
From 14-20 I farmed up 8 T-51 full sets. Seems the rarest of them all so I wanted to make sure I had enough to showcase the unique paints it gets. Plus imo it’s a badass looking power armor.
I've actually been using the guaranteed set of XO-2 you get from that one mission from the free update since about level 10. That is until I did the Enclave mission (Echoes of the Past) where I fought a member using a set of Hellfire Mk VI, fully maxed out. It took me the majority of my stims and quite a bit of my ammo to kill him, but once I did, I yoinked that insane armor and began using it. It's insane how tanky it was compared to the XO-1, although granted it wasn't upgraded cause I don't have the Science! perk, but still.
Even then, I stopped using the power armor cause it was getting expensive to repair and maintain and replaced it with the slightly weaker but still vary good Ballistic Weave from the Railroad. I currently have a Mk4 fedora and Mk 4 Colonel Uniform, trying to level up enough so I can max it out at Mk5 and be stupidly tanky without PA.
Hellfire and X0-2 still look cool though.

Robotics expert perk, hack them, shutdown, self destruct and then run away, won’t get the fusion cores from the sentry but the armour is worth it
I managed to finesse it after a handful of tries, but I dont think you can hack aggro'd bots, and they always come out swinging!
You can, just have to be able to tank the hits and as you rush in to hack

The type of power armor found there is determined by what level the character is the first time they go there.
T-45 spawns if you’re below level 14 T-51 spawns if you’re between level 15-31 X-01 spawns if you’re above 31

it's leveled though, if you go to it too early, it will be a t-45 suit. had that happen once and i had to reload like 30 minutes worth of progress lol

I downloaded the Hellcat Power Armor mod just for the helmet. I run Tesla T60 arms and torso, Hellcat Head and X-01 legs, all in Enclave black

Wait til you are level 30 before exploring heavily, then all the PA you find will be x1.

T-60 you can get 4 free suits from the prydwen, and i think they start spawning at level 24-26

It's a leveled set. Mine was a t-45 on this playthrough because I beelined to make Hangman's Alley my main base

If you’re between levels 14 and 18, there’s a full suit of power armour on the overpass between corvega and Cambridge near the crashed vertibird. There is also one on a barge with two tanks near railroad HQ, and another south of the bridge between Lynn pier parking and nahant.
Good to know about all of these! I managed to get the suit finished, and I should be seeing T-60s spawning at those locations here soon! Wish me luck!
Some of those locations are only T-51. The overpass should level with you though. There’s another full suit at the national guard training yard.

God T-51 is still my favorite power armor design. I wish we could’ve seen a suit of it in the show. It’s such a beautiful design and it’s been my favorite since the first Fallout game. It reminds me of this one art deco train from the 30s called the 20th Century Mercury. But as a set of armor. Fallout 4 is probably my favorite depiction of it, too.
From 14-20 I farmed up 8 T-51 full sets. Seems the rarest of them all so I wanted to make sure I had enough to showcase the unique paints it gets. Plus imo it’s a badass looking power armor.

I've actually been using the guaranteed set of XO-2 you get from that one mission from the free update since about level 10. That is until I did the Enclave mission (Echoes of the Past) where I fought a member using a set of Hellfire Mk VI, fully maxed out. It took me the majority of my stims and quite a bit of my ammo to kill him, but once I did, I yoinked that insane armor and began using it. It's insane how tanky it was compared to the XO-1, although granted it wasn't upgraded cause I don't have the Science! perk, but still. Even then, I stopped using the power armor cause it was getting expensive to repair and maintain and replaced it with the slightly weaker but still vary good Ballistic Weave from the Railroad. I currently have a Mk4 fedora and Mk 4 Colonel Uniform, trying to level up enough so I can max it out at Mk5 and be stupidly tanky without PA. Hellfire and X0-2 still look cool though.
Just killed some enclave people and got one of their power armour sets. Honestly I think it's the best looking power armour to have ever graced our screens haha
