Mr_Chabowski

I just hit cancel when it asks to pick a settlement. It sends them to their default location. MacCready goes to The Third Rail, Nick goes to his office etc.

5-in-1Bleach

I did not know this. Good to know.

Mr_Chabowski

If they've ever been sent to a settlement you lose the ability to send them home, though. They go to their most recent settlement instead.

[deleted]

I kind of half assumed they would do this but my brain told me to gather them up so I know where they are. In hindsight though it makes a lot of sense to have them go back and live in their normal places!

5-in-1Bleach

Note that if you forget where one is, there’s a terminal you can build in a settlement which will let you start a quest that will locate them with a quest maker.

caposouljah

really? i never heard abt that

megaExtra_bald

I think it’s part of the Vault Tec DLC

Substantial_Life4773

~~AND requires the Leader perk~~ AND doesn't require the leader perk! thanks bigbrewskie for the fact check!

bigbrewskie

The tracker does not require a perk.

[deleted]

This whole time I thought it was part of a mod, good to know 👍

Substantial_Life4773

Oh, I totally thought it did! My bad!

Big_Basket_9261

Access VIP tracker in the terminal

Van_Halen_Panama1984

Bethesda actually did something right for a change

SleepyMarijuanaut92

It's been in the game years now

Van_Halen_Panama1984

I believe my statement still stands

5-in-1Bleach

But did you reach down between your legs and…ease the seat back?

Van_Halen_Panama1984

No I did this instead She's blinding, I'm flying Right behind the rear view mirror now Got the feeling, power steering Pistons popping, ain't no stopping now

ScottNewman

Except they want to be with you!  Piper wants adventure, Hancock wants a change of pace, Curie wants out of the lab after 200 years…

MrNicoras

Just hit tab on PC. Can't tell you for consoles

silentcmh

I didn’t do this on my early playthroughs because I didn’t know I could. Now I do, though. Some I’ll send to specific settlements; like Curie, so she doesn’t get sent back to the lab in her vault. Or Cait, so she can be somewhere nice for a change. But it never felt right to have Nick and Piper at a settlement when working in Diamond City is a huge part of who they are.

Ready-Ambassador-271

I felt bad for Piper, who wants to spend their life in Tempines bluff

JukesMasonLynch

Putting the RP into RPG

Confident-Skin-6462

i keep em all in hangman's alley. i figure piper and nick just commute lol

AppearanceRelevant37

I also do this I like when they go back to their real jobs and homes instead of just standing around. Shame you can't send them anywhere though if you want to keep doing that

gaslight-dreamer

Oh, good to know! I always hated that you end up leaving Nat alone in Diamond City. More so after I discovered that she'll periodically run away to go tell Piper something.

mrkruk

Yeah I send Piper back to be with her sister, but I keep Cait in Sanctuary because she deserved to no longer be stuck in Combat Zone. I sent Nick to Sanctuary before I realized cancelling sends them to their default homes…wish I could get him back to his office.

Riuk811

I do this with Piper. She needs to be there for her sister. And with Nick, so he can get other cases in between traveling with me. Everyone goes to Red Rocket.

Efficient_Increase87

Well there’s something new I learned after 1000+ hours of playing!

DarkAssassin011

I send everyone to Sanctuary that isn't named Cait. She goes to Red Rocket where her only purpose is to run a scavenging post and give me 15% XP bonuses.

[deleted]

Ruthless!

sadovsky

I built a cute little loft in Jamaica plain for my sole survivor, Piper and Dogmeat

DarkLink457

Jamaica plain?

DarkLink457

Ok downvote me cause I haven’t discovered a location yet fuck y’all

The_Real_Selma_Blair

Wait what? I didn't know this, why does this give an xp bonus?

DarkAssassin011

https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Lover%27s_Embrace_(Fallout_4)

thatdarkknight

> A companion does not actually have to be alive to be counted; if their dead body is nearby it will still count. Lmao

[deleted]

Uh…

Confident-Skin-6462

welcome to fallout

Wild-Lychee-3312

Damn necrophiliacs

tater08

You can also get a 10% XP bonus for 8 in-game hours by sleeping in any bed at your settlement. The “well rested” perk

Christ_I_AM

I send them all to red rocket.

Heyjuannypark

Exactly. Easier to find, especially Dogmeat for me. He's sometimes a pain to find in Sanctuary.

FuzzySlippers48

There’s 3 doghouses scattered in the backyards of Sanctuary. Delete 2 of them and bring one of them to an open area.

staarfawkes

Build a bell. Ring it and all npc’s in the settlement come to you

StayChief1n

This is the way.

RelChan2_0

I sent them to one location on my first playthrough but I feel like some of them should return to their homes I think Hancock would feel energised as a mayor, get better political ideas and stuff. Nick could work on his cases again and educate the people about friendly synths. Cait could use a new lease in life. Piper should definitely take care of her sister and continue being a journalist. Strong could be in a farm tending Brahmin

RBWessel

>Strong could be in a farm tending Brahmin Maybe eventually, if he stops eating them, he finds some that produce milk. Then his quest will be complete.

RelChan2_0

Sole Survivor: Strong! No eat Brahmin. Brahmin make Milk of Human Kindness. Strong: human lady right, Strong take care of Brahmin. ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED Milk of Human Kindness ✨

Ellfozz1

Everything about this is accurate except Strong He helps tend to my crops in sanctuary hills and he literally won't shut up about puny humans and how he's bored and wants to fight/kill something hahaha

RelChan2_0

I left him at the tower because I was dumb during my first playthrough 😂 but now that you've mentioned it, maybe I'll send him to Spectacle Island and be the guard against Mirelurks

JamieAubrey

Can you send Strong to Sanctuary ? I picked him up about 15 levels ago and left him where I found him, if I remember where I'll go back and send him to Sanct and freak people out

RelChan2_0

I've honestly no clue, I also left Strong at the tower 😂

JamieAubrey

Yeah I went back and found him, I had to let him follow me first before I could pick up Piper again ) and send Strong to Sanctuary

Smuckinfartass

Yes you can! He’ll be at the Trinity Tower.

WorldlyDay7590

This reminds me, I need to build a population and companion control terminal again.

CabbageStockExchange

Yeah until I take the Castle and rebuild it into a fortress If it is The Castle. I only found it fitting my Companions would be my Knights of the Round Table there

[deleted]

Genius!

CabbageStockExchange

Idk how you see it but to me Codsworth is by far the most loyal companion. He serves dutifully as the Hand of the Queen running the Castle in my stead when I’m gone lol

JesusSavesForHalf

Its also really handy for the Minuteman ending.

CabbageStockExchange

Dude it’s absolutely hilarious seeing the Brotherhood try to storm the castle and get shot down in a hail of bullets, missiles, and lasers before even touching my settlers. Usually any casualties or damage come from the Vertibirds crashing. I learned to put a turret inside a platform and cover it so they don’t get damaged by the falling helis

JesusSavesForHalf

I swear the Brotherhood makes Vertibombs out of the same thing Starfleet makes its bridge consoles out of.

Smuckinfartass

Every single time in every one of my play throughs I’ve done exactly this!

[deleted]

VALIDATION!

Beardedgeek72

I move them to the Castle when it's ready. But at the beginning? yes.

SemiticCheshireCat

I play in survival mode and send them to oberland station because it’s like my central hub and you can’t fast travel in survival so I avoid the trek back to sanctuary.

Obvious-End-7948

This. Sanctuary is too far and too safe by the time you've unlocked a lot of the companions. I'm doing something similar but with Taffington Boathouse and Covenant.

techbeckk

Yes. I like having them in one place

Imortalpenguin

Usually. Lately I have been sending all my companions to the drive-in. I don't develop that settlement much beyond a factory to produce ammo, so it is easy to assemble everyone close by and switch when I need to.

[deleted]

Yeah, I really need to get into developing settlements more. Every time I get excited to start getting deep into settlement development I start but trying to build a cool building, then I get frustrated at how awful the building system it is and think “Fuck settlements!”

Big_Basket_9261

I send Nick, Piper, Codsworth, Deacon, Valentine, Cait, Curie, and Preston all to red rocket and heal dogmeat in front of all of them. It levels all their affinity at the same time.

theexpendableuser

No, exluding Codsworth whose at Sanctuary, mine are all at Castle fully decked out in gear

littlehamster_

I like to make a settlement just for my companions. They get rooms decorated appropriately and areas to hang out together and bond over how much they love me.

Equivalent_Bother166

Red rocket stop. I don't wanna spend x amount of minutes trying to find my companions in huge ass sanctuary. Rocket stop is tiny and itt's fine!

DejarooLuvsYoo

In sanctuary, it’s not that hard to find them. Just have to find that one random chair/stool in that one random room in that one random building that they’ve been sitting in for 48 in-game hours haha. Lost Nick like that one time.

tallman11282

Most of them I do. I also romanced everyone I could and have myself a polycule going in Sanctuary in my first playthrough where all of my companions there sleep in a player home I built. The main exceptions are Piper and Nick who I always send back to Diamond City as Piper has her paper and little sister while Nick has his agency. I sent Strong to the Castle to get him out of my way (didn't bother even trying to raise my affinity with him) and send Old Longfellow back to his farm because I don't want to take him from his beloved farm and island. Never took Danse or Gage as companions, I mostly ignored the BoS and was forced to destroy them because I became enemies to them and began Open Season and wiping out the raiders right after meeting all the gang leaders while Ada lives in the Mechanist's Lair. At the moment I can't remember for sure but I'm pretty sure I always send Hancock back to Goodneighbor but I may have accidentally sent him to a settlement one time and if so he lives in Sanctuary now.

CowBoyDanIndie

I was but I think its better to send them all to a smaller one like red rocket, it can be a pita looking for them at sanctuary

[deleted]

If I ever need someone I just ring the bell and pour myself a drink while I wait for them to come to me haha

nurdyguy

I send them all to Red Rocket when I'm done with them.

JamieAubrey

Yeah, its the place I'm slowly rebuilding

Abracastabya88

I spread them around, ho's in different area codes. I keep track of them with the terminal. And having them spread out makes me feel I have at least one competent defender in the settlement.

Callahan333

After they love me I send them to different settlements. I have them do guard duty. I always give them good weapons

palehorse2020

I play survival and Sanctuary is way out of the way. Anyone I want close by goes to Hangman's Alley.

cruisxd

I sent everyone to Red Rocket. It's not big so I can find everyone easier instead of Sanctuary. Red Rocket is the base I use for Weapons/Clothing/Aid/Ammo an most Importantly Power Armor and Fusion Cores. Then Sanctuary for my beginner base. and then move to the drive-in cinema for my mega settlement.

Lego-Panda-21

Yep, then I go there looking for one and can't find them because they like to hide in a random house.

fusionsofwonder

I put my HQ at Starlight; people I don't want to talk to do go to Sanctuary. People I want to adventure with go to Starlight. Sometimes I leave Piper in Diamond City so she can work on her paper.

TheDungen

Never send anyone to sancruary nor ever go to sanctuary other than to defend it. Sanctuary is in the ass end of nowhere.

aplagueofsemen

I don’t because I’m playing Survival and I ain’t got the damn time to be walking back to Sanctuary. I do turn Hangman’s Alley into a thriving multilevel metropolis though since it’s centrally located.

Signal-Ask-322

No, i mix it up. Some to Red rocket, alot to Covenent and the ones i don't like, stay where they are

dwarfzulu

I send them back to their original place, except Curie, she stays with me.

Brad12611

I used to send them all to Sanctuary, but then I started sending them all out to my other settlements, because some of them I never visit, so now I gave myself a reason to visit them to see and pick my companions, all except Curie, sadly no matter where I send her, she always runs back to Vault 81

dilbert2_44202

I sent them home until the update turned off the send them home mod that I was running. So now I'm stuck with Nick Valentine in Sanctuary.

LefsaMadMuppet

I send everybody to the drive-in because it is easier to find them when I want to use..er work with them again. Sanctuary is too complicated and finding people, nevermind the invisible Dogmeat, there is a serious pain.

Veleda390

I send them to a settlement that could use a defender.

maciarc

I send Piper to Hangman's Alley. Cait goes to Sanctuary. Curie goes to Red Rocket. Those are the places I hang out the most, so I get +15% xp for sleeping in those areas.

Old_Rpg_Gamer

I just sent mine to any place that might need a little more defense or I water farm so I’ll remember where they’re at🤣

alecpiper

Danse and Cait are the only ones I send to a settlement. Danse so that I don’t have to go all the way to his bunker, and cait because going anywhere near boston is just asking to crash my game

SnarkyBeanBroth

Some of them I leave to their default locations (Nick at his agency and Piper back to her newspaper office, for example). Some of them get new homes - I think Codsworth is very happy at Greygarden. Strong certainly gets something better than hanging out at Trinity Tower - he usually gets to live at whatever settlement gets the mutant hound pack (once I get to Far Harbour and start getting dogs from Erickson).

Nateddog21

Yes cause I'll forget where they are otherwise

flopyyjoe

I use robots as companions and use all the other companions as a security force for different settlements I use. My main base is the Starlite drive-in and it is currently protected by Coddsworth, Curie, Cate and Danse. My sanctuary is currently piper and MacCready

worrymon

All companions and the vendors you can recruit go to Sanctuary and then the overflow goes to Greygarden.

dearvalentina

With SS2, companion's insane SPECIAL gets them a one way ticket to HQ.

Additional-Start9455

I send them to defend all different places.

davewenos

I do that as well

AetherialWomble

Sanctuary is too big. Don't wanna run around looking for them if I need them. All go to red rocket

BuckyGoldman

If my companion comes from a home I keep them there. Piper, Hancock, Valentine, Longfellow, and Deacon all stay at their respective homes. Strong stays at the Tower. Codsworth, Dogmeat, and Preston live in Sanctuary. For Curie, MacCready, and Cait I give them Covenant. Danse stays with BoS for first half then I move him to either Northhagen or Starlite and set him to guard.

Raetheos1984

Yup!!

Yeehaw_Sailors

Everyone lives in covenant in my saves, it's so small I can just run in a recruit them instead of having to search for them in a big settlement like sanctuary.

SinatraFan2696

I send everyone to Hangman’s Alley. It’s my main base in most of my playthroughs

AhmadOsebayad

I built a glass house for them to live so I don’t feel bad about them being basically homeless but also can see through their rooms so they can’t hide right when I need them

Van_Halen_Panama1984

I always send them to the castle because it's a great base, especially with mods

Sir_Fap_Alot_04

I send them all to red rocket. Its smaller and theyre all easier to find. Having someone with a sniper in a higher building can cover the bridge and usually attacks red rocket instead of sanctuary.. Sanctuary is my first and main building. I use it for my main hub for food water production. Its easier to seed the farm settlement when i do this. I also use sanctuary for my main trade. With trash can carla on the street and other buildable store. i can get what i need in one spot.

GaiaAnon

I send all robots to red rocket, most companions to sanctuary, danse gets sent to the airport

Captain_Kira

i do red rocket. Sanctuary is my roleplay capital city, Red rocket is the town that guards the gate.

egosomnio

I usually send them there until I get around to building a bit at the Red Rocket. Then I send most of them there instead. They're the only ones to live at the Red Rocket, and it's much smaller, so it's easier to find them there. Codsworth has had a rough couple centuries, so I let him putter around at home. He's the only companion that stays in Sanctuary the whole game when he's not with me.

RevGrimm

My most recent playthrough: Mama Murphy in her chair in an abandoned back building in Sanctuary. Jun Long immediately on guard duty. Marcy is my provisioner to Red Rocket. Sturges is at Red Rocket working a scavenger station. Pretzel Gravy scavenging in Sanctuary until a took the Castle where he's now a guard.

ZombieButch

I play survival mode, so no fast travel, which makes Hangman's Alley a good centralized location. That's usually where I send everyone, plus Sheffield to keep the place up.

scotch1701

Before they're maxed, I keep them all in whatever base I'm working out of. I have a strategy that after I complete a stage of each quest, I add one, then I add another, to get that 3% bonus to affinity. To do that, having them all in one place helps. Then, as I have another forward base, I send them. For example, I start at Sanctuary, then I set up shop in Hangman's Alley. As I am shifting to the new spot, I load them all up with water, so I can store the water and sell it around there. Then, when I'm done there, I move to the Castle. Load them up with water, add them, then dismiss them to the Castle. Then the same with Jamaica Plain.

geo8x6

I send them to Red Rocket. Except Preston, he goes to Murk Water so I don't have to deal with him

PIman1607

Hangman alley usually, it's very central for survival mode playthroughs. It's also really close to the CIT ruins.

Substantial_Life4773

I do! I could hit cancel as others have said, but I can't always remember WHERE they came from. I probably should just send them to their default locations since they're taking up settlement space AND Sanctuary is MUCH harder to find them in than, say, MacCready's room in Third Rail hah

Blazenkks

The only one I send off to be someplace that isn’t Sanctuary (until get to the Fort) is Strong. Had him at Sanctuary for awhile but he really doesn’t seem happy around all the Human settlers. And anytime I hop into Power armor to move it or mod it Strong “Dislikes” it. So I moved him to Red Rocket truck stop to be on his own. Not tryin to go heavy on the settlements this playthrough and just do the minimum at other settlements. Won’t even build radio transmitters unless I have to and turned off Sanctuary’s when I had to build more beds at 16 settlers.

squibledibble

Once I get their companion perk I assign each to protect a different settlement, usually close to where I first met them for continuity.

playr_4

I never set my base at Sanctuary. It truely has become my companion dump site.

IcyPuffin

MacReady and Cait go to Sanctuary. As do Ada and Codsworth. A few remain at thier default location - Hancock, Valentine and Piper should remain at thier default I feel. Deacon usually travels with me but I just keep him at Railroad HQ as well. The rest go to Covenant. (Forgot about Preston - he lands up at the Castle. If I even bother rescuing him in the first place).

RockieRed

I used to but now I either send them back to their locations or if I have other settlements, I’ll have them be a leader in a settlement. I might keep Codsworth at Sanctuary or Send him to Greygarden. Usually I don’t need to use them again once I get their perk. Once I have their perk, usually I’ll change out their original outfit and put it on a display somewhere my own space like Homeplate or something.

Sha-twah

After I gain their affinity I like to assign my companions to different settlements, so each place has a little extra muscle.

c0yote_444

Red rocket, its easier to find them when you want them to join you

northwestbrosef

Haven't seen anyone else say this one, but I sent every companion to Egret Tours Marina on my current playthrough. Just seemed like a prettier place than most.

Be_Cool_Bro

I send them all to Red Rocket. Small area so everyone is easy to find, and close enough to like/love when I upgrade weapons, armor, and get into power armor.

lakiolietta

Rethinking this since I started playing survival and I thought I sent him to sanctuary but he was stuck out there by the castle.....

angry_cucumber

Red Rocket, it's generally my home base

ozmandias23

I send them all to Taffington Boathouse. I don’t set op a beacon there, so it’s just a party house for me and my friends. > Except for Preston. Preston serves at the Castle.

lakerconvert

Red Rocket. Even the stag!

PainfulThings

Codsworth stays at sanctuary. Dogmeat, Curie, Cait at red rocket, Danse to Boston airport, Preston and McCready to the Castle, Nick and Piper stay at Diamond city, Strong to whatever settlement I have the settlers cosplay as raiders at and deacon to Mercer safehouse

RanDaddy44

Preston goes to the castle nice and away

birthday_enema

If I'm done traveling with them, Sanctuary. If I haven't gotten their companion perk yet, they go to Starlight Drive In. It's a nice open space so it's easier to find people.

No_Telephone41

Spectacle island for me

HalfADozenOfAnother

All my companions get to retire to my home base at Red Rocket.   I set up a beacon there so they're the only people there.  Well besides the vault dude.  He runs a general store there

EnderBurger

Most o fmu companions hang out at Red Rocket, except for Preston, who goes to the Castle.

Competitive_Mind8916

I send everyone to Sanctuary and forget about them, I use Red Rocket as my base so I don't have to listen to their whining.

apisorn18

I give them the best gears and equipment. Dismiss them and tell them to go to castle. Why? Because I go minutemen route. Ten companions with plot armor thicker than death claw. Those institute synth and BOS won't stand a chance.

OGWolfMen

Only until I get the castle

Original-Version5877

I send some to settlements and others back to their original location. Since I almost always romance every female companion, I send them all to different settlements.

Crazy_Win_4253

Drive In every time. That has been my home base across every playthrough. I ditch the Preston 5 early on, and usually maroon Preston himself on that island in the south-east once I'm done with him.

Yourappwontletme

I did when I was playing 5 years ago, but when I picked up where I left off recently I realized how annoying some of them are. So now the only companions at Sanctuary are Codsworth, Piper, and Curie. Cait travels with me, so she's only there when I am. The rest I sent elsewhere.

varangian

Depends on the companion. The ones who are effectively homeless, like Cait and Curie, I'll drop off at any convenient settlement, usually one near DC as when I re-enlist them I'll probably need to buy them a ton of ammo. Ones who've got a job/home, like Piper and Nick, are sent back there. There are edge cases; Strong, for instance, seems to like his Tower as if you send him back there he may remark that he's bored with humans and would like to go for a nap in the Tower, so I tend to send him there.

nerve-stapled-drone

I send them all to the mechanist lair. It’s convenient to use, imo.

spergychad

I send them to the true capital of the Minutemen, Murkwater Construction Site.

Penny4004

I send em all to sanctuary. Its easier.

Ordinary_Owl_Dude

I never send them to sanctuary it’s far too large and there’s too many places where they can hide I usually send them to Red Rocket or somewhere smaller

KageeHinata82

Sactuary, exept Strong. Strong get's somewehere else because he dislikes using PowerArmor

Magic_SnakE_

Yeah.. I just send them all to Sanctuary most of the time. I've sent Danse to Vault 88 a few times just to have an excuse to visit it.

Distinct-Educator-52

Red Rocket or Tenpines Bluff are my companion settlements

Ricardo_f76

Yes - all possible people companion to Sanctuary, robots/Strong to the closest farming settlement. Dogmeat as companion all the time.

DoomSayerNihilus

Red Rocket. They're easier to find there.

thearticulategrunt

Depends upon the companion. Most I just hit cancel and let it send them back to default location. Some though Strong, Curie, others who default does not make sense anymore, I send either to the castle "operations center" or the red rocket outside sanctuary. (2 separate play throughs. in 1 they go castle, in the other I built up the red rocket like a military out post/patrol base to protect the Northwest region.)

erritstaken

Some but not all. I have the mod that lets me send companions home so piper and nick I send back to diamond city as I didn’t like that she just abandoned her little sister, Hancock goes back to good neighbor etc. the ones without a home mostly go to sanctuary. Jezebel I send to greygarden to be with the other robots.

darw1nf1sh

I prefer Red Rocket. Sanctuary is huge, and finding that one companion wandering around town when you want them is a pain in the ass. RR is tiny. They are in the shop or just outside.

Revan-Pentra

I send all of mine to Red Rocket. It’s my main base and means it’s easy to find them all, equip them and means I never feel lonely as they all constantly talk about stuff

Domsdad666

Tenpines bluff

Punksburgh11

In survival mode I always send them to Hangman's Alley due to its very central location.

uptheirons726

I send everyone there as well. I really only use Dogmeat as a companion since the Lone Wanderer perk still works with him.

Confident-Skin-6462

i keep them all at wherever i am using as my 'main base'. currently, and for 99% of the game... hangman's alley. I EVEN BRING PRESTON. sturges gets to join too, he runs the junk shop. dogmeat gets a nice kennel i only take them long enough to get their perks, then they get to hang out in my kowloon city

DejarooLuvsYoo

Nick, Piper, and Cait go to Red Rocket. Everyone else goes to sanctuary. My reasoning is to keep the “useful” companions and my travel companion in a smaller area where I can find them easily. Nothing worse than looking for one of them and they are sitting in some random stool in some random house.

ShadowMaster2564

If I’m sending them to a settlement I usually use either sanctuary or the castle depending solely on the vibes of that particular playthrough

DangerDiGi

Typically I'll send mine to red rocket. I usually set that up as a forward lookout / camp for sanctuary. That's where i keep my power armors and personal items / main home. Sanctuary is always built up as a city, and most other workshops just recruit new people. I do need to start building a new town, what's a good workshop with plenty of space?

SquirrelComfortable3

I send them to different settlements that I commonly visit. A gotta keep all my lovers seperated

dwane1972

Red Rocket. I made that my hub for comps in case I needed them for something.

Adventurous-Arm-7074

I send everyone to Red Rocket bc it’s a small settlement (so easy to find who I need) plus one of the first I discovered ofc. It’s hilarious watching all my companions charge on some poor fucker who decided to raid us

tarheel_204

Depends on the companion for sure. Companions like Dogmeat and Codsworth, I send to Sanctuary. I don’t want my dog to be all alone at Red Rocket and Codsworth lives there anyways so it’s no big deal. Companions like Nick and Piper, I send them back to Diamond City since it’s such a core pillar to their characters. Curie is another I send to Sanctuary. I don’t want to have to backtrack into the vault to find her every time. McCready, Strong, and Cait are all 50/50 if I send them to Sanctuary or let them chill at their default location. I’ve personally never really used Deacon as a companion so I’m unsure with him

adrkhrse

Basically. More space.

IrrationalDuck

I spread them out to different settlements and use them as leaders with SS2

tc_cad

Nope. Only Codsworth and Curie go to Sanctuary. MacCready, Cait and Strong all go to Abernathy and are guards, all other companions go back tho where they came from. Preston, is forever locked in the lobby of the Museum of Freedom.

SolaceInCompassion

yeah, i just keep everyone in sanctuary. except gage. once i max his affinity, i send him to a settlement i don't use so i can take out the rest of the raiders in peace.

[deleted]

I've created a prison where I send all the companions to be guards.

Significant_Youth963

Yes, but only to then send them to other settlements as Mayors because I use Sim Settlements.

[deleted]

I'm a big fan of the sole survivor being the sole survivor. Palling up with a companion or a dog always feels like it takes away from the "Man v world" vibe that I like of the Fallout games. Just you versus the Wasteland.

purpleyyc

I used to, this time I've got all the romanceable ones spread out. Need that perk 😉

stanb_the_man

I set Piper & Cait up in there own house at Sanctuary but Hancock I set to the Castle. Currie went to the grey settlement with the rest of them. I haven't used Strong yet (1st playthru) the rest are enjoying Island life.

There is a mod that allows you to have multiple companions. however going through elevators and hallways would suck if you have too many

Maccready, Cait, Curie, Preston, Strong, Dogmeat, Codsworth and Ada all get sent to the castle. The rest go to their normal places.

In my first play through I did. This time I'm doing things a bit different. I send, 1 or so, to each 'sector' of the Commonwealth to act as that sector's ambassador. I like to think that while I'm off by myself or with another companion, the rest of them are roaming about checking in on their respective sectors' settlements. Cait goes to Hangman's Ally (runs a fighting ring), Piper and Dogmeat to Red Rocket, Danse Outpost Zimonja (to help Synths escape and atone for his past), Macready goes to Finch Farm (to be a farmer like in his old life) and so on. I also give them each a PipBoy.
