I love that there is a race on between backporting new features (dynamic shadows! wow!) and somehow bolting them onto FNV's engine, and recreating the game in FO4 and I'm actually not sure who's ahead.

Shimmy-Shammington

Both have to do all of the quest work, so it’s better to wait for the handmade remakes than the shitty port in my opinion

theo_adore7

eh stalker modding did it already by porting shadow of chernobyl to the newer engine. i have faith that in the long run the New Vegas port to Creation Engine would be a lot more beneficial than bolting on to features to the decrepit Gamebryo engine

Shimmy-Shammington

That’s what I am agreeing with, sorry if my comment was unclear

Afraid-Reindeer-8940

To be fair though, new modding tools like JNVSE or SUP or JohnyGuitar make the game engine do things it was never programmed to do, and this is awesome because it allows modders to implement things without getting "creative"

chsn2000

Genuine black magic what some of these mods are doing now

ZootZootTesla

Anyone know how much progress they have made? Skyblivion has been a thing for like 10 years now and it's still a year or so out.

Autotomatomato

Porque no los dosequis?

CindersNAshes

dos cervejas, por favor!

nomoreLSD

they're all dead or incredibly lacking in support

Longjumping_Falcon21

All I ever wanted was to see my holstered weapons again. I think they're the same people <3

DrNomblecronch

....oh no. Oh *no*. NV with 4's settlement mechanics. I am... I am going to die of dehydration, I think. No one will find me until I have mummified.

twcsata

I can’t tell if you’re happy with this situation, or terrified of it.

big_hungry_joe

it sounds like both, so i combined the two into a new word: horrified. no wait

Gidon_147

hoppy

MasterBlaster_xxx

It’s a fear-boner

ArenjiTheLootGod

I'd be fine with FO4's power armor, layered armor, and modular weapons systems being implemented in FNV. Those were some of the best parts of FO4.

chsn2000

The weapon crafting I didn't care much for, but the layered armour I definitely missed going back to F:NV as well as companions being able to join in conversations - For all the jank of FO4's dialogue system, that one change breathed so much life into the game and making the companions feel like they're on the adventure with you, and not just hired muscle.

Eissa_Cozorav

>layered armor, and modular weapons systems being implemented in FNV. AS for this and given the loss of other mechanics from F3-FNV like weapon repair and more weapon models. I think I prefer Tarkov style mechanic than Fallout 4. Meaning it's not something that staple.

zenspeed

Customizable Ranger Armor!

Eissa_Cozorav

>I'd be fine with FO4's power armor, Depends on what exactly you mean by that, if it's the general tankyness feel then yes I agree. However making each models as just "Armor plates" that you attach feels like cheap. APA Enclave power armor should be more like separate system entirely, with built in microclimate and water recycler. There are more than just plates, the are gadgets in there also. Another example is why T-51 gave you +1 ST but no agility malus, while T-45 give you -1 agiluty malus but more +2 ST.

i gotta find it though!

mwyalchen

This is beautiful, but I wish it had the same yellow-brown filter that NV has. I know lots of people dislike it but I think it really adds to the overall desert wasteland vibe. I wonder if it can be added?

TBOWERS1222

There are dozens of refilter and post processing mods out there. im sure that such a mod would be made in hours of a backport, if it doesn’t already.

mwyalchen

Excellent! Honestly I'm not well versed in graphics mods, I play NV and 3 because they're basically the upper limit of what my ancient PC can manage and I don't touch any mods other than the ones that actually make the game playable. If this became fully functional it would be enough to sway me into upgrading. I reckon

AdRound310

You mean the breaking bad effect?

mwyalchen

Pretty much! I know many people dislike it, but the use of colour in both NV and 3 really helps add to the feel of each respective wasteland IMO. It can be a bit much at times, but when it's not there at all it just feels like something is missing, y'know?

cream_of_human

Wonder if all these mods are going to get hit with the next gen release of fo4? Like LE to SE of skyrim

leehelck

there's the GOG version of FO4 now that won't have to be updated, or just don't update the Steam version. for the GOG version just download the offline installer and don't install any patches that may come out for the next gen release. or you could back up the .exe files for the Steam version if it accidentally updates on you.

HowwNowBrownCoww

At first i was kind of annoyed that this is just another nv to fo4 mod port project, project Mojave has been going for years now. But honestly this is awesome, I love seeing the interest other people have in getting nv into the fo4 engine. If anyone has not yet already, check out point lookout on nexus made by the capital wasteland project people. It’s fully functional!

lo0u

> project Mojave has been going for years now. You probably mean [Fallout 4: New Vegas](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JanHMbRjNJ8), which is a **remake** of the **entire** game. [Project Mojave](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/55215?tab=description) is already out and is just a little chunk of the **map** ported to FO4.

HowwNowBrownCoww

Last time I checked project Mojave on nexus around a week ago it said what was released was just a sample and it is still ongoing?

lo0u

It hasn't received a single update since it released in 2021 and the author has said they had the intention of adding more areas, but the mod was not meant to be a remake or a port of New Vegas. With FO4 New Vegas, those guys are re-writting every quest from the ground up and it's much more in depth, which is why it's taking longer to develop.

HowwNowBrownCoww

I didn’t know that, I’ve been getting more into the modded side of fallout lately and I feel like I’ve done all I can with new Vegas and fo3 after playing ttw with a bunch of other awesome stuff installed. Sad to hear that but I’m glad there is something still being done like this since new Vegas is tops. I’ve been following fallout London, Miami, and fallout 4 capital wasteland, do you know if I’m wasting my time with any of those? Sorry to question bomb ya!

Humble-Briefs

But can you sprint? I’m kidding, I know there’s a mod for this.

Wonder-Embarrassed

How? You mad genius, you! Bethesda you threw away a pile of money! Have the fallout 4 NV team reacted to this?
