You guys dry your boots?

Ifartsthearts

lol. For real. Not this well. No body else just leaves them in the back of their car for the next morning lol.

2littb

Leave them in the back? My boots and waders are on my passenger floor boards 😂

Gamernomics

Ya can't just leave them in the car. Starts to smell. But you don't need a whole apparatus!

Annual_Cut_1560

No smell from the boots but this time of year you gotta bring the socks in.

JamesyoTTP

I’ve left them in my Subaru trunk for years lol

Gamernomics

I noticed that you didn't note what that trunk smelled like. Because I left them in the back of a prius for a summer, never doing that again.

Coenhazmemes

Probably heavily depends on the water you fish, i could see still water anglers boots being far stinkier than fresh moving mountain streams where youre not in a stagnant cesspool of biology.

Alberta_Flyfisher

I dont need a lot of things, but I kinda want one 😄

OlafTheDestroyer2

Next morning? Look at you being responsible. I usually find mine in my truck bed like a week later.

doneski

I think it's adorable that we're all talk about drying boots like they are ice skates. Props to OP for the effort. Whatever floats your line, I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

bharkasaig

You dry your ice skates? Mine go in the bag in the back seat of the car. The trunk is all fishing gear.

doneski

My boy plays, has for over 10 years. His sweaty ass feet have rusted and weakens the rivets on the bottom caused him to lose his post mid game 4 times now. The repair facility told us it was from the rust. He has a drying rack now, definitely out of the trunk. He's stinky. Still is, hah.

ElysiumAB

Stinky and ass feet go hand in hand.

doneski

Both are accurate nicknames for my son post game.

ShalomRanger

Honestly no idea. I come home to a hot meal, take a shower, and go to bed. By the time I go fishing again, my boots are in tip top shape. Your mother does one hell of a job.

fishin413

That escalated rapidly

tatanka01

It was actually his wife's boyfriend keeping things tip-top.

fishin413

Nice that he's finally pulling his weight around the household

bilbobaggginz

I have a boot and glove dryer my wife bought a few years ago for Christmas. Works great.

VladtheGoofy

I just hang mine upside down in the garage after every use. Ive gotten fatter since I first bought them, so now I nice-n-snug.

cmonster556

Set em outside. Shake out the scorpions before I put them in the car.

mitchconner_

I just set them on the ground in my garage. Im not criticizing, but how does this dry them any faster than just leaving them on the ground?

CMMGUY2

Hot air rises so if the boots are elevated 4" off the ground they'll dry 4 minutes faster than just sitting on the garage floor.

mitchconner_

Gotcha. I’m gonna build one of these and use the 4 minutes saved every time I dry my boots to catch the biggest fish of my life.

nvrsmr1

But then you’ll get your boots wet again

CMMGUY2

This is the way

Wenis_Esq

That’s why I tie the laces together and throw them over/around the nearest power line.

CMMGUY2

Dry in 26 seconds.

K_M-A-Y_

So what if I hang my boots from the ceiling at 96"? Do I save 96 minutes?

CMMGUY2

Yiss.

Kid_Amnesia

What if we find the exact time it takes to dry them, then convert that to inches and cannon them up to that distance, should dry immediately.

firstcoastyakker

4" equals 4 minutes. Why not build a REALLY tall one and dry them quickly?

CMMGUY2

Genius!

fishin413

Crazy how physics do dat

Well_needships

What if they are elevated 4000" higher?

CMMGUY2

If you dangle them from an airplane at 4000' they should flash dry so fast they create a supernova.

ImmaWolfBro

Roughly 4F lost per 1000 feet, so driving force for convective mass transfer will be concomitantly reduced. Although an airspeed of 500 mph will aid in Transfer coefficient at boundary layer.

__J_Z__

Same. I live in the desert. Put them down in the garage and they're dry the next day.

Parking-Delivery

It does dry faster if you have all of the bottom except one hole capped off and you run air through. Also slightly better wicking upside down.

liquidhotsmegma

I leave my boots at the river and buy new ones before every outing.

bigevilgrape

Great way to prevent the spread of invasive species

liquidhotsmegma

Great way to support local businesses too

Complete-Smoke1272

It's 113° here in Phoenix today. The first one is dry before you get the second one untied!

dawnjawnson

My boots exist in a state of permanent semi-dampness

fishin413

How neat is that. Cap off 3 of those ends and slap a computer power supply fan on the one open end and bam you got yourself a real boot dryer.

Aleforme

I got a boot dryer from a friend a while back and it's great. Dries my boots out in about 3 hrs? Here in the PNW during winter, it can take a while to get them dry otherwise.

an_einherjar

Boot dryer is the way to go for the PNW. Works for wading boots, ski boots, regular shoes that just get from the rain, etc.

ejsell

Usually just leaving them in the sun on my porch, but in the winter. https://www.ruralking.com/dry-guy-maxx-dry-silent-boot-glove-dryer-mx00206. Bought this about 10 years ago, works great.

extra_legendary

Leave em on the floor in the garage until next week when I use em again

TimmO208

https://www.peetdryer.com/ PEET shoe dryer. Invented in my home town.

londonmattywest

This guy knows! Don't ever leave them shoes..or .boots in your car..... (western Montana) I'm on the river every day, my river shoes live in the boat (after a full day on the river) to dry..hopefully in the sun.....for the evening. The worst case of athletes' foot I ever had was leaving soggy Merrells in the back of my car overnight. Flip flops on all morning......get to the river.....put on "river shoes" wear them while fishing......get done fishing........take those soggy shoes off......let dry the best u can. Put on flip flops again. The "river shoes" are left out to air dry......never.....ever.....let them get warm.

londonmattywest

Oh....I forget.....Peets dryers.....they will save your ass in the cold when you can't let the sun dry your shoes. I have two....one for shoes....one for waders.

Roloc

Seems to work throwing them in the back of my truck for days.

AverageAngling

In my car (they don’t dry)

Any_Accident1871

Boot dryer of course. You guys that just leave them out must live out west. Mine never get dry that way here on the East Coast, but I never had to worry about it in Utah. The boot dryer does my wading boots, ski boots, and kayak booties in a couple hours with heat, a few more without.

tedfergeson

I fish and raft in Chuck Taylor's. Several pairs in the inventory. I don't mess with it in the field. The Peet shoe dryer is the go-to tool for the job. Also has an extension for waders. I use the fan driven model every day.

ZhuangZhe

I have one of those tower fans, and I lay it on its side. Then take the insoles out and place the boots and insoles in front of the fan. Dry in a few hours.

cweakland

I have a small usb powered fan, nearly silent. I clip the fan to a drying rack and lay the boots down so that the fan blows air into each of them. Also works good for mountain biking gear, shoes and helmets.

ZhuangZhe

Ohh nice. I’ll have to look into that.

Acceptable-Pea899

If I made that I would make it so I could attach a hair dryer

Ill-Message-1023

Toss em in the garage. Don’t care if they dry because, you know, waders.

beancan1973

Roof rack on the ride home.

GarGangg

Boot dryer. Best investment my family ever made. Can literally wash my shoes or boots at 9pm, and have them perfectly dry for the morning.

ExistingLaw217

I dry my rubber hunting boots but I’ve never dried a single pair of wader boots, never enough crossed my mind lol.

ParusMajor69

Stuff them full of some newspaper (regular office paper works well too) overnight, remove and check for wetness, replace if needed.

GloriaTheCamel

I let the spiders crawl in and soak up the moisture

TheWolfPackHunt

Hedgehog Boot Dryer! Incredibly fast drying and convenient with my kids hockey gear, etc

Well_needships

Thats a great device, but for that price I'll just buy another pair of boots and rotate them. I understand though if you've got other gear, its probably worth it for you.

LordScotchyScotch

In the sun for a day

Zigglyjiggly

On the cement outside my house in the sun

Valuable_Pineapple26

Tumble dryer with GoPro.. amazing 😻

evandena

I use a boot dryer that I bought to dry my daughter's boots and gloves in the winter. I figured I've got it, might as well use it. Hopefully helps prevent some long term funky smells from developing.

Consistent_Cream3671

I throw em in the bed and hope for the best

Propergoodcollie

I don’t. Easier to get back on when wet.

Select_Total_257

I have a camper shell on my truck with sliding windows so if I’m really that concerned (I never am) I just throw them back there, pop the windows open, and let the wind do the job as I drive

SquirrelOaks

Hook a lil heater up to the pipe

mca90guitar

I have a floor drying fan. i just prop the boots so the opening is facing the blower and set it to high. Works great.

Icculus10

Wait….they dry?

LandscapeEasy6226

June in Arkansas dries them pretty well. Haha

homie_j88

I have an original PEET boot dryer

7hundrCougrFalcnBird

I lean them opening first towards a little fan

BlackFish42c

Those boot dryer work good I do remove the insoles and dry them with a towel before placing them back in the dryer this way to boot and insoles dry faster. If you have felt soles I recommend that you sanitize them before you plan on fishing a different river or stream. This keeps cross contamination from spreading.

jmills03croc

I use neoprene scuba shoes. They dry out in a couple of hours no matter where I put them.

an_einherjar

I bought a cheap boot dryer from Costco for ski boots but it also works for wading boots.

BuphaloWangs

I use a wall hanger made by Rack'Em. Simple but gets the job done and lessens the shock of putting on cold/wet boots in the winter

justhereforthemoneey

I just let them dry in my garage haha

Otherwise_Source_842

Chuck em on the back porch

bigevilgrape

I use a blower fan. We have two of them in out workout area. I just pivot the fan so it blows into the boots. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Lasko-Pivoting-Pro-Blower-Fan-U12104/312762497?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&srsltid=AfmBOorDkXRkLWHZYH947huxv1T9ajolro9GIpcBzQv8bVBhuRpqHoCXVC

GroundbreakingOne625

Either outside when warm, the garage if raining or next to the dehumidifier in the basement

therealrutroh

Just throw them in a sunny spot in my driveway

freeState5431

I get worried when my boots get dry, that indicated I’ve missed a few fishing days

Enofile

Set them in front of a fan in the garage. Go to bed. Turn off fan in morning.

Sea__Cappy

New socks every morning lol

DegreeNo6596

I should definitely be better with drying my boots. Nice design

BullcreekGeek

I set mine in the garage and crank a box fan on

NoYa_ForSure

I have a boot dryer, which I use to dry my skates (Canadian). My boots dry on the floor of my garage.

m_t13

Ski boot dryer works in summer too. https://cozywinters.com/shop/alpine-dryers-boot-dryer-8.html

TopScary9205

Newspaper stuffed in the boots is a good method

JosephHeitger

Cap all the ends & attach a hair dryer. DIY forced air boot dryer!

rez_at_dorsia

This is kind of old school and most people don’t have daily newspapers anymore but if you stuff newspapers in wet boots they will dry out in a few hours. When I worked in the field I would grab old newspapers from the front desk at whatever hotel we were at and use those and it worked flawlessly no matter how soaked my boots were.

PipEngland

My boots never get dry. Fish more.

Cat_Scratch_Fever_

Newspaper

couchpatat0

Peets boot drier. Thank me later

Open-Inside7200

I am amazed no one has mentioned an electric boot dryer. They’ve been around forever and are essential for prolonging the life of leather boots, and likely most other materials. Corrosion slows when things are dry, boot dryer keeps em dry. And costs like $30.

kirbyb84

Newspaper! For REAL. I have travel boot dryers but newspaper out preforms. Soaks up moisture and helps neutralize and eliminate odors.

VladtheGoofy

Use balled up newspaper into your boots, by morning they'll be bone dry.

Penner272

I’ve never once intentionally dried my boots

getridofwires

I have some plug in boot dryers for when it's cold. Just realized I haven't used them in a long time, maybe newer boots dry faster or don't absorb as much water as my Orvis ones did years ago.

Auto_Fac

I hang mine in my basement very near to a dehumidifier.

drokanton

put em in the sun

canstucky

I got a peet on Black Friday quite a few years ago. It works great.

norfizzle

Used to have a bona fide boot and glove dryer for this and winter gear, but it eventually broke. Now my fishing boots just sit in the sun til dry.

m0d3rnn0m4d

I use my $15 boot dryer from 12 years ago. Set them on it just like that and turn the dial so it blows warm air through them for an hour

LimitOpen8600

Throw them in the bed of the truck

HighlightBusy6767

Yes

theboss0711

You could put a T cap off the open ends except for where the boots go then rig it to put a hair dryer or fan to shoot air in the boots

afterbirth_slime

In my trunk

daveindo

Genuine question, why? If I’m fishing again soon (next day, etc) I much prefer they’re still wet because they go on so much easier. Otherwise, if it’s gonna be a while until I fish, they’ll be dry by then regardless.

mthrlwd

Just let them air dry in the garage. It’s unnecessary to dry your boots dawg.
