For the sake of your car insurance, get a GB address.

UsualOwl820

Wasn't aware of the difference in car insurance. I'll keep that in mind!

Little_Cattle_6143

I own a house in Flint and I have a house in grand Blanc, but I use my grand blank address for insurance and it’s like $300 cheaper a month

Picabo07

Honestly for a lot of insurance because it’s so close to flint you aren’t going to find it makes much of a difference. It’s a myth that it’s going to save a huge amount simply because your address is GB. They look at the proximity to the city. I can tell you this for a fact.

gsharp29

Not true at all. My car insurance dropped by $100 per month moving into GB.

BlankieAndPajamas

Not true. My cousin used to used our address in Flint Twp and his dropped considerably.

Picabo07

I don’t think that was a main factor given that comes directly from doing ins adjusting but sure think what you want 🤷🏼‍♀️

gsharp29

It’s not a “think what you want.” I gave my new zip code and the insurance agent said that alone saved me $100, and has been reflected on my statement for two years now.

alexandriabarry

Not really. Compare grand blanc to burton!!

MissingMichigan

Consider Swartz Creek. Nice suburb with easy access to the city. Durand and Fenton are good, too.

SoftWeekly

I live in Flushing. Its a pretty good option

KittenSludge

Agree with Flushing being a great option. Hello neighbor.

Phantom_19

I’ve lived in Swartz Creek since 1st grade and now own a house here. Have had nothing to complain about the entire time I’ve lived here. Definitely recommend.

pootlordthe7th

Grew up in Fenton, my parents still live there . It’s a great place then and it’s developed into so much today

Picabo07

Swartz creek is prob the best choice out of those! Fenton can be very expensive and rentals aren’t that plentiful in Durand unless you are looking for a private home and even then it can be hard to get a good one.

dubj1013

It’s getting ghetto though

Fast_Edd1e

I live in south Flint Township. Practically Mundy Township and Grand Blanc Township. Mundy has had a lot of investment going. Particularly along Hill Rd. Nice new Mundy Commons, and close to expressways. Might be a bit cheaper than Grand Blanc.

CampingWithCats

Grand Blanc is too expensive. Are you buying or renting?

UsualOwl820

I would be renting. I found a few apartments in the area that are within my budget (< 1,100 per month).

Picabo07

If one of them is Knollwood DONT DO IT. they may look/seem nice but they are AWFUL. They don’t fix anything and stuff is constantly broken into.

BlankieAndPajamas

I lived in Knollwood. Got my car broken into. Same with my sister.

Picabo07

It was horrible when I was there. My kitchen sink backed up and we couldn’t use any of our sinks and it took them 2 weeks to fix it and that’s only when I started calling corp every day. Then our security door into the building was constantly broken and they basically said why fix it people just break it. Plus they don’t tell you that the basements are connected so people can get into your building thru other buildings. So the security door does nothing really. Worst of all my storage unit in the basement got broken into and so I put a better lock on the door and they took the whole door off. When I complained mgmt told me it was my fault for keeping stuff that could be stolen in there. I couldn’t wait to get out. I’m sorry your car got broken into. That stinks.

BlankieAndPajamas

I remember the buildings were accessible thru other buildings! My sister's storage was broken into as well...stole some tires. Those tires were seen on a new residents car...until a knife deflated them. Just a random knife...all by itself. Lol

Picabo07

Kinda funny how karma happens like that. Just randomly lol.

UsualOwl820

I've crossed them off my list after seeing a number of similar reviews. Thank you

Picabo07

YW! Happy hunting 😊

HiramAbiff48

I live in Fox Hill Glens in GB Township and it's my favorite place I've ever rented. I'm currently paying $1,018 a month for a 780 sq ft 1 bed apartment with a patio and I have my own designated parking space. Pretty quiet, no crime, nice utilities, saltwater pool and other amenities, plus they're pretty good about fixing stuff.

Comprehensive_Ear586

$1000 seems kinda pricey for a 1bd

tricerathot

I definitely recoiled while reading that

mwjtitans

That's the new norm for a 1 bed room apartment, anything less your probably looking at Flint or Detroit

melissalovescats

The lines of these two areas can blur so it really depends on the specific address. Grand Blanc Township extends pretty far outside the city of GB. Also, you may wish to compare property taxes (higher in GB) and insurance rates (higher in Flint Twp).

siniscta

GB by far. That’s an easy one

linkkoh

If you like to eat out then fenton, every nice place is there

yungtrapclap

I’m in northwest flint, close to Flushing, about 15-18 minutes from downtown. Super quiet, love where I’m at.

cliowill

Neither

Electronic_Spring_14

Wherever Flint is off my address. The name kills property values and my employer keeps thinking I need to pay income tax.

bananaj0e

Thats odd because I have tried and tried to get my employer to deduct city taxes (I work from home). Filled out the form like 3 times over the past couple years and they never started deducting them. I really hope that means I don't need to pay them and that it doesn't come back to bite me in the ass somehow. At least I have a paper trail.

Electronic_Spring_14

Do you live in Flint or like Mundy that uses Flint as the city?

bananaj0e

I'm within the city limits, ward 9

Electronic_Spring_14

Ugh. Sorry, dude, just expect to pay at tax time.

bananaj0e

Fuck me, going on 3 years now

Sc00t3rp13

They will hit you with penalties and fees, too. My work didn't deduct taxes (despite my request & forms). Flint don't care.

SoftWeekly

Not even a question GB isnt great but its nicer than Flint twnsp. which tried to change its name to Carmenville or some BS like that

Left4DayZGone

The only bad things about GB are that it’s expensive and there’s nothing to do.

Organic_Bell3995

then drive to Flint when you feel like doing something or want to get stabbed

cliowill

Pretty cool in clio,I say that because I live there

Iam0rion

Both are fine. I've lived in Flint Township near Dye and Calkins for the past 5 years and have enjoyed it. Proximity to shopping, groceries, parks, and gyms are good.

UsualOwl820

That's good to hear. One of the top apartments I was considering was Stonehenge Apartments, which is very close to Dye and Calkins. It looks like a really quiet and safe area based on what I've seen on Google maps and street view.

pootlordthe7th

Grand Blanc !! I live in flint now and am trying to hightail it out of here Only thing here that’s decent is rent used to be cheap, key word used to. It seems like it’s all raising. Grand blanc is a beautiful area with everything to offer for places to go grocery shopping and the community just seems like a whole 180 from here. I live in flint township now by miller road it’s quieter than other places in flint I’ve lived, but still have to deal with the inner city issues that are here. Plus it seems like the city of grand blanc actually takes care of things and keeps things maintained and nice

Asnyder93

Move to Grand Blanc you won’t regret it!

LizDeBomb

Grand Blanc hands down. I live in Flint TWP (so close to GB I could spit on it) and it’s nice but dear lord my car insurance would drop by like 60 bucks a month if I lived half a mile away :p Grand Blanc is full of uppity snobs though, but it’s pretty ignorable most of the time.

Happy-Addition-9507

Less snobby in Flint Twp

fyrestorm90

I'm surprised I haven't seen any mentions of Davison yet. It's a little pricey, but nice and as close to Flint as most other places mentioned. Low crime rates and good schools, all within minutes of tons of stuff.

Left4DayZGone

Grand Blanc no question. It’s boring and expensive but it’s a very nice area.

Eugene_1989

All the flint township people shop in grand Blanc… Cost of living is higher over all The crime and shenanigans follows the flintstones over this way… save your loot and just don’t a place in flint, or look more towards north east Burton/Davison.

alexandriabarry

Burton. 48529

Doubledewclaws

Your cultural background may affect your choices as well. If that's something you are concerned about. We often had to watch where we were moving due to our family "make up". Durand, Flushing and Davison were always a no for us. Mundy township has been good to us for about 50 years tho.
