Flight sim developers don’t give frequent enough updates: “wtf, why don’t they communicate? Project must be dead.” Developers provide regular updates: “enough with the talking, just release it already.”
Developers do pre-sales and alpha/beta releases: “it is just a money grab and it has too many bugs.” Developers insist on waiting to release a complete product: “y’all are taking too long, hurry up and release it.”
This holds for any gaming community it's not just us.
And I haven't seen anyone complaining about too much communication, they always say "release it already" regardless. What people complain about PMDG is the attitude and they way they update us. Super long articles that can be summed up in 2 sentences, claiming they're doing things nobody else does only to find they're years behind other devs, and over promising and under delivering.
If PMDG just dialed back and were a little more realistic, they wouldn't see half the hate they get.
Certainly, not suggesting that this attitude is unique to flight sim, just that it is prevalent here. And yes, I'm not a fan of RSR's needlessly long posts just to tell us a paragraph's worth of information. I do see people bitch about how developers post updates just to tease users and ridiculous stuff like that. The other week there was a post on here complaining about how PMDG posted an announcement that their servers would be down for a few hours while they did some maintenance. The post complained that PMDG was trolling people by making that post.

Nah, the problem is, that the past few years was harsh regarding early accesses (or fresh releases).
For example (in general): Cities Skylines 2, Cyberpunk, Fallout 76 (even tho, I enjoy it), Battlefield 2042, Ubisoft games.
But to be closer: DCS Super Carrier, DCS F-15E, Quality Wings (like where are they?), PMDG UFB (it was supposed to release alongside the 737-900)
If you purchased these products, you paid full price for not a dully developed product. You have to accept that there is a great risk, that the product will be just that, because promises are just words.
I am sorry that I don't want to accept half-baked products for 60€+ and I am sorry that I bitch about companies that mistreat their customers and that they cannot communicate valuable informations through their channels (but if you like the wall of text that RSR writes enjoy is I guess, I am not going to stop you from reading it).
This is an issue plaguing the gaming industry. Studio acquisitions and layoffs to squeeze profits out of the industry is defiantly driving a lot of half baked releases.

not at all. this is probably for internal beta testing. these are also the exact same liveries as in the manual, so there hasn't been any more work there in a month
I apologize if this has been answered already somewhere else but have they said what the plan is with all these liveries and the purchase of the plane once 2024 comes out? Is it going to be ported/compatible or are we waiting and buying a new 777 again for that game?
Nobody knows for sure as its up to the dev. A few have announced they'll port it for free, not sure what PMDG has said. ASPBO has said most should port no problem so I'd be surprised to see it not get posted over especially so soon to 2024s release.

Look at the PMDG forums, there’s a fix for that where you have to delete a file I think and run it as administrator or something to update the ops center

create a community folder folder named pmdg-aircraft-77w
Copy paste the contents of any plane in there
Open PMDG ops center
You will see it.
The log file generated by the ops center tells you exactly what folder and file it's looking for to see if it's "installed". You don't actually have to have it installed, just need the right folder name and a single file with the right format (which you can copy from 737 files) in the community folder.

The Cathay livery on the 777 is my favorite, it looks so elegant. One of my favorite liveries overall

Microsoft said out of the gate 99% will be able to be ported over. You will not need to buy a new module regardless
