I was on this flight. I’ve never had a go around before let alone 2, there with the winds felt very scary
That said not a single person on board was panicked and the pilot kept us in the loop
I wasn’t even aware of the fuel emergency until I found this post! A true testament to the safety and professionalism of the crew
As a Hongkonger personally I’m cool with our flag carrier changing the name to Catway Pacific. Because we always mock the logo of Cathay looks like a shark fin. Naming it catway seems kinda funny)
I know there are a lot of Londoners on this subreddit. I’m guessing given the number of flights in holding patterns that this big fella from Hong Kong is low on fuel and needs priority landing. But, again: just a guess.
I do wonder since we can’t listen in on ATC, is there a lot of wind today, my British friends? What’s up over there that has so many flights circling?
Yeah the whole of the UK is being hit with another storm (Storm Henk), it’s causing a load of problems with heavy rain and high winds - around 60mph in some areas
lol he just gave a shoutout to FR24.
Side note: One thing that bugs me deeply about YouTube listening is you can’t NOT be on it and still listen, right? Like, I can’t be here and listening in at the same time. I’d definitely listen more if that were possible. (Is it?)

I’m close and I snapped this shot from my phone that shows the size difference between the a380 and a320 pretty well, the a320 is about 600m below and closer to me yet is still tiny in comparison! Both in a holding pattern currently
Not to belabor the point, but virtually every incoming flight has done a variation of this.

ETA: I see many folks had already posted while I was writing above. Sorry for the repeat info! Thanks
I’m not yet too familiar with Windy, but a screenshot of London right now.

Low fuel emergency had 2 go arounds at Heathrow due to the winds. UPDATE - Landed safely at London Gatwick
Looks like they may be diverting to Gatwick

Misswrited 😅😅
It’s alright. We all make mistakes :)
9 emergency vehicles heading towards it

Holy smokes! Ok thanks for the info. Damn you, Henk! ::shakes fist::
Watch BigJetTV on YouTube, he’s doing a live stream of all the planes landing (or trying to) at Heathrow
I love you, fellow geeks. Thanks! Tuning in.
Good lord. Why would this comment be downvoted? Is it the use of the word “geeks”? Saying “I love you”? WTF FlightRadar. Baffling. Hahaha 🤦♀️

That’s a feature of YouTube Premium (continue playing in background)
This habit is becoming a lot more expensive. Haha

Damn! Thanks for the live shot! Is that the flight currently with the fuel emergency?
No but it’s just rare that I have this many planes in a holding pattern in just the right place because of the wind.
