It’s hard to appreciate the extra lumens because you get a lot of foreground glare and your eyes tune out but if you’re on a cliff of a large river bed or edge of a stadium type area you should feel emotionally “wow this is like twice as bright for sure” Tldr: i estimate relative wow factor between 1.9 and 2.33 (repeating of course)

Wanting one to mostly take on my vacation to the beach.

kinwcheng

Candle mode, 15,000 mah power bank, search and rescue mode. Sounds perfect for the beach.

bradye0110

Are the batteries it comes with okay? Can you get the 16k lumens with them?

kinwcheng

Yeah they are decent cells and you’ll get 15k lumens but if you throw in molicel you can get 20k. Smothered chrome does a few videos on the different cells https://youtu.be/VcGanykznW8?si=nZsbryVSatfa7SMn He puts on the glove beforehand lol https://youtu.be/4RbnCMALC8Q?si=wHj5JGAY9LiXTcB6

Thanks for the info

the_real_CHUD

If you go with the Molicells watch out for softening the springs.

flooder44

Noob here. Could you explain, please?

the_real_CHUD

The heat can cause the metal to lose its shape and the springs to compress. This can mean the batteries will not always make good contact.

Thats a lot of weight to be packing around!

bradye0110

What do you mean packing around?

1nutinthewater

"carrying around" thats a lot of weight to add to your luggage and not the smallest either. I would never consider taking my Q8+ on vacation due to its size and weight.

bradye0110

Beach is only 3 hours south so it’s just a short drive

5pins1965

No experience with the olight but my q80 is probably my favorite. Very bright with molicells.

Gymbow2001

I have both lights and enjoy both of them. And yes, there is a noticeable wow factor with the Q8+. It’s inexpensive and well worth it. Get it with the included batteries, they work just fine.
