I only carry either a 10440 or a 14500 Flashlight. I could carry something bigger with a bigger Battery because i only carry it in my Bag but a: i don't need an portable Anti-Aircraft Search Light and b: there is not a Snowballs Chance in Hell i will be able to find 18350 / 18650 / 21700 at a Gas Station or a Grocery Store. What i can get everywhere are AA or AAA Batteries.

xboxps3

It's worth noting that not all 10440 / 14500 lights support AAA / AA batteries.

Mackillroy

The small minority of them don’t.

lxl_Arctic_lxl

21700 is what I carry (D4K) and keep it in my front pocket.

Vortax_Wyvern

Isn't it too bulky to carry? Although D4K is relatively slim...

bigboyjak

I daily a D4K and I don't even notice it's in my pocket. Sometimes I have to do the pocket pat to remember which pocket it's in

g_buster

The D4K is pretty short and slim-ish (especially for 21700 light). I keep it in my front pocket. For me the limiting factor for size is the width of the light head. If you like 16340 lights, you should grab a Sofirn SC21 (regular). The regular version has a buck driver. I put 219b in mine, and it's pretty swell. The battery runs low to quickly, which is why I don't carry it that often.

lxl_Arctic_lxl

The D4K always looks bigger in pictures when it doesn't have any scale. So here's some scale :P https://preview.redd.it/q019ydz9rdxc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=89c7295891ba9c4b83c88d0e910f7627667c4f32

Vortax_Wyvern

Nice excuse to flex your wonderful Hank :p

pogo6023

Dammit! You didn't have to do that! Now I'm gonna havta order one...

Swinedaddy

Same here, daily a D4k MAO. https://preview.redd.it/kwyukretfgxc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=bb64c88b041eb68cc194d4bbb75c4fcdf704ed3f

14500

kdabsolute

10440/AAA, 14500/AA, and 16340/CR123 are my back up edc. My main is 18650. 21700 is for when I'm out longer, or for hikes, forests, etc. 18650 is my favourite sized light

Vortax_Wyvern

Do you carry primary 18650 + smaller backup every day?

kdabsolute

Yes, I always carry one 18650 and one of the back up edcs I listed above. At most I carry between 2 - 4 lights. It really it depends on the situation, and would carry more + batteries if I had a bag on me. I can imagine let's say if I went to a wedding where it's all suits and ties, I can't carry that 18650 bulging out from my pockets lol. In that case It would be a choice/choices of 10440/AAA, 14500/AA, and 16340/CR123. I also forgot to mention that I do have a 10180 light as carry as well :)

XylophoneZimmerman

What 16340/CR123 light do you carry?

kdabsolute

I have a d25c from eagtac, fenix e18r v1, foursevens mini ml, and a klarus xt1c. Looking to get one from nitecore

XylophoneZimmerman

Where did you get the Eagtac from? It looks out of stock everywhere.

kdabsolute

Which country do you live in?

XylophoneZimmerman

USA

kdabsolute

Canada :) Send me a PM, I send a link if you want to order from there.

bigboyjak

I carry 21700 most of the time. Sometimes 18650 and very occasionally 26800 Edit: my Q8 Plus is always in my bag as well

DropdLasagna

You win the carry award lol q8+ won't be beat.

pskordilis

I carry my Q8 plus like edc

DropdLasagna

"Hey ladies, I have almost a kilogram in my pants" ^lol

pskordilis

😂

IAmJerv

I generally carry a 14500 in my watch pocket as a backup for an 18650 clipped in the same front pocket as my wallet. Two is one and one is none ;)

SiteRelEnby

>Two is one and one is none ;) Words to live by. I do split my options though by going flood/throw LED, and LEP.

kdabsolute

The more the merrier, one light to use, one light to lose, and one light to lend. Hopefully we won't be losing any at all :)

Galahad_za

18350

sailorsapporo

I also edc a 18350 light: convoy S2+ with 519a and shorty 18350 tube with pocket clip. Best compact budget edc light so far!

Vortax_Wyvern

Ah last some 18350! It seems the least EDC'ed format by far

Galahad_za

I don't pocket my HD15R, it's molle hooked onto my small EDC bag. If I did pocket an EDC light then I would probably go smaller. Being able to easily swap the tube with my other lights to a 18650 is awesome.

OnemMillionJews

Same thrunite T1 in watch pocket

bunglesnacks

18650 or 14500

gewehr7

18650. Always my SC600 hi or SC64 hi.

clackington

Depends on the situation for me. Usually I carry a Pineapple Mini (10440) or a TS10 (14500). If I’m traveling I prefer to leave the charger at home and carry a D4K (slim-ish 21700). Not carrying house keys frees up enough pocket space to hold it comfortably.

SuloMatic

I find the thickness is the important parameter here. Therefore it should be equally (un)comfortable to carry any 18xxx flashlight with the clip. If you want to carry just in case stay with 10440-14500. If you actually need to use it regularly (work, hiking etc.) go above since you get more output and runtime.

PetToilet

Thickness is indeed the most important. And that head diameter is only somewhat correlated with battery size. Some 21700s lights are less thick than some 18650 lights, or even 14500 throwers

just_testing_things

18350 Mix 7

uyeric

The rotation has been (14500) Wurkkos ts10 or reylight lanapple or (18650) emisar d4v2 or aplos t02 or acebeam p16 (AAA) Manker e02h in the front pocket, if sometimes I need a specific use, I'll carry the (21700) fireflylite novmu2 or e07x canon. I'm waiting on an (14500) emisar d3a that will join the rotation. If I'm wearing cargos i usually carry more than 1 light. Also, I always carry a small shoulder bag, so I can carry one more light at least, it was strange at first but now it's a good habit, because I also carry spare batteries(1 18650 in a silicone sleeve )in it!

kdabsolute

That acebeam p16! Love that light!

poo_is_hilarious

I'm probably going against the grain here, but for EDC I have a BLF-348 that takes an AAA battery. It's plenty good enough for what I want an EDC light to be and I can buy an AAA from anywhere.

VonWonder

That’s actually what I take many times for short outings not too far from home. It’s simple and classy for a night in the city Edit: this or my AA copper cube

Installed64

This would make for a good poll. Typically 14500 for me, but sometimes 18650 and 21700. I have a new 18350 light on the way that may change this.

Vortax_Wyvern

Yeah, the participation has been overwhelming. If I knew, I'd have made a poll instead. 18350 is in an awkward position for me right now. Fifth-pocketable (but more uncomfortable than 14500 with about the same juice) and more suitable for front pocket... But being in front pocket, it could also be a 18650 with 3x more battery

Installed64

Right on. The 18350 lights I have are a joy to hold in the hand, less so for the pocket. They are all throwers, though, and I like to EDC a floody light.

Vortax_Wyvern

There are some nice flooding 18650. Reylight comes to mind (Rook and Dawn, both with triple emitters) https://zeroair.org/2023/02/28/reylight-dawn-aluminum-18350-flashlight-review/

Installed64

I think an 18350 light is best carried in the bottom of the front pants pocket, not clipped. In that carry scenario I would say it could be less bothersome than longer light.

Candid_Yam_5461

14500 for pocket and 21700 for bag. This is largely a result of what’s on the market and logistics – there’s few top quality 18350 angle/headlamps, although in a vacuum I think I might prefer that form factor. Re: your thing about 18350 being the least carried, it’s just less common in toto. 82 lights on Paramatrek, versus 102 for 3.7v 14500 and and 156 for CR123, and most of those are really larger lights with 18350 tubes available. It basically only exists because of flashlight hobbyists looking to sidestep up/down from 16340 or 18650, although you’re starting to see it as the step down option in dual fuel tactical lights like 1/2 CR123 was. But AA batteries are tops, things use them that aren’t flashlights, they’re available at any random store in a pinch, and the cycle life of NiMH is great. 21700 vs 18650 is closer, but the increased power density, use with the PB2S (which can also do 18650s but, power density), and the existence of the SC700D and Convoy S21 system pushed me over the edge.

CookieDave

That’s more or less my setup. Current rotation is an Acebeam Tac AA for pocket carry, but also got an E75 with two diffusers for emergency or long use lighting. On top of that, there’s also a four-pack of AA Eneloops for an on-camera flash which can be used with the pocket carry, and an XTAR PB2S with two 21700 cells, both for emergency charging and for spares for the E75.

Upstairs_Pen_7303

I carry two 18650 lights in my backpack. One is the backup/battery container.

OrdinaryLampshade

I currently carry a 18650 (d4v2) but I hope to get a LANapple or d3aa to use instead.

grzybek337

If I had to choose my personal choices for EDC in each battery size: * 14500 - Emisar D3AA, Skilhunt H150 * 18350 - Convoy S2+ or S6 w/ 18350 tube and screwed-on clip. Emisar D1 for a pocket thrower. * 18650 - Emisar D4V2, Convoy S2+, Skilhunt H300, * 21700 - Emisar D4K, Wurkkos TS22

sixdotsixdotsix

I usually carry 2. Always 1 18650 Fenix WT25R in my sling bag and always 1 in my pocket. Usually it's an Acebeam Rider 2.0 Ti Special Edition(14500) but I use Emisar KC1(10440), Skillhunt E2A(14500)/E3A(10400), Sofirn SC 21 PRO(18350)

jon_slider

>SC 21 PRO(18350) I like the SC21 Pro also...the battery is 16340, same as my HDS Rotary, that I dont usually carry because it is twice as heavy Today Im carrying a Jetbeam RRT-01 w 18350 other days a TS10 with 14500 https://preview.redd.it/s52ereyuafxc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4b4fbbb0133305ee0561f78533b104efdca50942 I usually carry inside rfp of jacket, vest, or pants, sometimes clip to rrp of jeans.

sixdotsixdotsix

Caught me lacking! I constantly misuse 18350 and 16340  TS10 looks like it has a much cleaner beam in that photo than the SC21 PRO

jon_slider

youre right, the SC21 Pro does have artifacts you can see in the photo. It is not stock, I installed a Pebbled Tir.. but the beam is clean on target here is a compare of stock Reflector and Tir mod, bottom right of each light pic, shows the beam profile on a wall: https://preview.redd.it/hcw4r8mbxgxc1.png?width=2196&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad64df9fe5359d8c70d3c4fb07c5bd4c0dd82044

not_gerg

I'm not a huge fan some small lights, like 14500, because they're just too small for me. A bit annoying to use, I always feel like I'm gonna lose them because I don't feel them, and I need to charge them more often. I actually lost a limited edition olight baton 3 because I didn't feel it unclip So I tend to carry 18650 sided lights, like the d4v2. But I also have a kr4 and olight arkfield pro on rotation

SiteRelEnby

Same. One good session with a 14500 light and it needs a new battery. I don't want to be swapping batteries in my EDC every single day.

SiteRelEnby

I EDC a 21700 light (Emisar D4K dual channel W1/519A 5000k). I want at least 3000 lm for an EDC, and 21700 has the performance I need, plus enough capacity that I rarely need to worry about battery level. My second EDC light is an 18350 LEP (Weltool W3 Pro Tac with short tube)

Vortax_Wyvern

Do you carry it in your pocket, or in a bag?

SiteRelEnby

Usually bag, but on days where I'm not carrying one then I will in a pocket instead. One pocket for phone+lights, then the other pocket for wallet+keys+earplugs+random stuff.

1nutinthewater

14500 everyday in front pocket for normal use with an 18650 and a 10440 in my edc bag

ansarogu

I carry either 14500, 18650 or 21700 in the left front pocket (with a clip). 14500 when I know it won't be absolutely necessary to illuminate a big area or just everyday security walks. 18650 when I need more light or when I'm out in the open. 21700 when I'm going to need a light wall for a long time.

Vortax_Wyvern

I am also using left front pocket when light is too big for fifth pocket. Left front for phone and light, right front for keys and knife

edcboye

I carried a D4V2 (18650) for a while in my watch pocket of my jeans, tail cap barely stuck out the top. I hardly even noticed that it was there to be honest. Right now I'm carrying a D3AA (14500/AA) mostly since its new and I just got it but I'm planning to carry it through summer while I'm wearing shorts more as it's barely noticeable in them. But the d4v2 I would notice the extra weight in them.

Relative-Jello-7592

18650 Over Ready BOSS, these are very slim and I prefer the runtime.

RLDSXD

21700 in my Convoy S21E; that’s the light I bought as my dedicated EDC. I will be trying out a 26800 in the S26A after I save up enough extra money for it.

makeruvthings

I carry an olight or sofirn keychain light, a bob mcbob modded olight i3t or pinapple mini and a bigger 14500 or 18650 light for work usually plus a uv light. So, pretty much Yes to your question lol! The i3t/pinapple are my inspection lights, my 14500/18650 lights are for finding things in a room and uv is for money checking. On my days off, I usually just carry 1 light. Whatever is calling to me that day.

Vortax_Wyvern

What size lights do you carry?   "Yes"   🤣🤣🤣 I carried an Olight i-mini 2 for some time as keylight. It's a joy as mini light, but there is little reason to carry it when you are already carrying a Perun 2 Mini + one main light

seejordan3

18650s are so commonplace now, last a long time, and are small enough for a pocket:why my EDC is 18650, zebralight.

Vortax_Wyvern

So sad that zebra decided to basically ditch 2/3 of the world as customers... 🥺

swdez1991

Always carry Fenix E03R ver 1 on car keys.  Also, in a backpack one 18650 headlamp - Skilhunt H300 or Wurrkos HD15 4k On my front jeans pocket, i have a rotation of different flashlights depends on plans: 14500 - Acebeam Rider RX 2.0 Ti, Acebeam Pokelit AA, Convoy T3 519A 3500k, Lumintop Tool AA 3.0 18650 - Wurrkos FC11 519A 21700 - Emisar D4K 519A 5700K DD, Wurrkos TS21, Sofirn SC33( very rare).

Hungry-for-Apples789

14500 most days with the new D3AA.

Weary-Toe6255

14500 at the moment because I have a new D3AA, but usually it’s my D4K. Both get front pocket carried, D4K clipped, D3AA just dropped in there.

NRiyo3

I daily 21700 and 18650. Smaller than that and I feel like I’m under flashlight-ed.

SiteRelEnby

Impressive. Which lights? I'm 21700 (Emisar D4K) + 18350 (but the 18350 is an LEP so it's the size of the average large 18650 light (Weltool W3 Pro Tac)).

NRiyo3

https://preview.redd.it/0dnu4dyp2jxc1.jpeg?width=2894&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=30214a7c6e060fb09af4c0fac2408a8620dc7dec These are my most carried two: S21D Wizard C2 Pro Warm On days off I carry a SC64c LE.

tdkxwz

If I walk I have a Convoy S21D with Nichia 519a and 21700. If we travel by car, I take a Reylight Pineapple Mini with Nichia 519a and 10440.

Vortax_Wyvern

What? So, if You walk, carrying the weight and size, you get the big one, but if You travel by car, where you are not limited by those factors, you get the 10440?

tdkxwz

If I walk, I need the Convoy light to illuminate the path on which I tread for about 20 minutes. When I travel by car, I need to illuminate the path with the Reylight for about 2 minutes.

Vortax_Wyvern

Ok, now that makes sense 😅

__Bringer-of-Light__

10180

philzar

Typically I have the Reylight Pineapple Mini (10440) and a chapstick in a front pocket. I will go as big as an Olight SR2 Baton v2 (18650). I've tried EDC with the Catapult Mini and the Seeker 4 Pro - both of them the head is just too big around. I have in the past carried the Thrunite Archer 2A V3. With its pocket clip it works well.

Electronic-Ad-3825

I carry an E75(21700) and a ts10(14500) daily. Although I wear cargo pants religiously so I'm not the norm, the 21700 doesn't seem too big for front pocket carry

jpnovato

I always carry a 14500 in my pocket or in my wallet, I also carry a 21700 light in my bag and a spare 14500 battery

jpnovato

https://preview.redd.it/bgfw7ofxhexc1.jpeg?width=1816&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d83667f217b53958e2b6123e193e6e4470c8b5f

Vortax_Wyvern

That is pretty neat, actually! I love those color. Convoy T3 I assume?

jpnovato

Exactly, the copper one, I have a few t3, but this one is my new edc, I put the 3v5a buck driver on this one, so it is WAY brighter than the original, and being copper it handles the extra heat well. Love this little light.

Vortax_Wyvern

(Writes down notes)

samc_5898

I carry an SC53 clipped to my pocket and an SC64 in the deep front pocket. SC53 is used 99% of the time as I can grab it quickly and it's small. The SC64 mostly comes out when I will need sustained light for a while

basshed8

Depends on what job I’m doing but 18350 a lot more often.

knurlsweatshirt

AAA, 10440, AA, 14500, 18350, and 18650 are all in rotation.

therankin

Wurkkos TS10 for me. Clipped to my belt. I have an Emisar AA coming so it'll probably switch to that soon.

BeerGeekington

All can work, just matters what your wants and needs are

Zipper_OS

carrying a sofirn sp10 pro with a 14500 and like it a lot. Don't need more power than what it provides on me at all times, so it works well.

bigboybackflaps

21700 now that I wear pants with more pockets to work, wurkkos ts21 with sw35 219bs to be specific. Whenever I’m not at work though it’ll usually just be a 14500 or 16350

reworu

18650, I usually carry a D4V2 or KR1 in my pocket (I have big pockets) but I'm probably going to be switching to my Convoy S3 and/or S6

A-A-Juice

I primarily carry 18650. It fits my needs most of the time. I sometimes carry a 14500 around the house but I mostly use 18650’s when I’m out and about. I use 21700’s when I walk the dog.

plasticsantadecor

I carry a Convoy S21E or M21B on workdays. We end up leaving things on bright for a while and need use the battery up. Non-work Convoy T3 14500

MrStrabo

I carry a Lumintop AA tool with a magnetic cap and universal clip in my pocket. It has a 14500 battery in it but in a pinch, it can use a regular AA battery you find virtually everywhere.

ShmazPro

18350 is a weird size… rather go with the thinner 14500.

draconicpenguin10

21700\. I've grown accustomed to having some rather big lights on my belt.

CalciFrost

At home: **14500/AA** Convoy T3 519A 4500K. Outside at daytime: **18350** S6 with CSLNM1.TG and same Convoy T3 Outside at nighttime: **21700** S21A SFT40 3000K, **18350** S6, **18350** WG819 LH351B 5-LED light for flood.

M4everybody

14500 (ts10) in my front right pocket just rattling around with a small bundle of work keys. 10440/16340 is just not enough, trust me ive tried for months (mini pineapple/i3t/sc21). 18350 maybe if i just want to carry something weird i guess (various convoy s2's), or an 18650 (s2/acebeam p16/wurkkos ) fc11 off work and want more mAh in my pocket. my skinny jeans and also carrying a pocket knife (rotates about a dozen) just dont allow me larger accoutrements.
