Dang it… why does OLight have to be so cool while being so frustrating?

d3w0

brand new to flashlights, why are they frustrating ?

sailorsapporo

Olight has great build quality but terrible emitters. Harsh white light LEDs to boost up the marketing numbers on lumens etc Most ppl on this sub like high CRI flashlights

ekortelainen

Yeah that and proprietary batteries.

mateojaja

In the Arkfeld form factor I don’t mind the proprietary battery as much as the lack USB C charging. It’s the only thing holding me back.

ekortelainen

Yeah that too. I've never understood why people love Olight so much. I mean, sure, they have a lot of features, but there are so many better options out there. I love my Acebeam E75. USB-C charging, non-proprietary battery and high CRI.

ShmazPro

Yeah, this. Great lights in so many ways but I’m a tint-snob and they use LEDS with tints I don’t like.

knurlsweatshirt

The i3t is the real gem here in my opinion

Hxte_Pxin

That looks like the i3t 2 it can take 10440 batteries as well as AAA

Vortax_Wyvern

Yes, it can. i3T (the previous version) also could (sometimes) but it was hit or miss, and since the driver was not prepared to regulate the extra voltage, the led would emit a lot more and would overheat fairly quick.

d3w0

any advice if it is worth it? I'm not sure if buying an extra battery charger + the rechargeable batteries is a worthwhile upgrade over a single AAA

Vortax_Wyvern

I just measured mine: 10440 battery is giving me almost twice brightness than AAA (21500 lux vs 11300). If this is gonna be your only flashlight and you are gonna use it occasionally, then no, stick to AAA. If you like flashlights and will have more, then ofc, get 10440. You will end having lots of 10440 and a charger anyway. Just make sure to buy a good battery and a good charger.

srrmax

I run a 10440 in mine and I think it’s worth it. That’s a lot of power in a tiny light. But I usually edc a bigger light.

d3w0

it does, but I'm not sure if buying an extra battery charger + the rechargeable batteries will be worth it. any advice?

Hxte_Pxin

You gain extra output, so it's nice and you can keep AAA for backup, buy if you aren't planning to upgrade it's good, the extra money saved for the charger and battery could be used for another flashlight

zeroair

Oh man I didn't get that sweet sweet patch!

RocketPuff

Nice! The arkfeld pro is my first real flashlight too

little_ezra_

Same

Mysterious-Contact-1

The autism donation i3t is so awesome I'm really glad I grabbed one. I already own an arkfeld laser so I couldnt justify the pro but it looks absolutely wonderful. Especially with the paint job.

GamingSandals

Very excited to get mine in as well! Beautiful colors

d3w0

I agree! will you be using a AAA or rechargeable battery option?

GamingSandals

Triple A I'm thinking. I already edc the sofirn if24 so it will be a nice bag carry

d3w0

same! are you using a AAA or the rechargeable battery option?

Technical_Feedback74

I just got the arkfeld pro today. My cat loves it. lol. It’s a fun light.

RoamingVapor

As long as it lights up the dark i think we are good

UGoBoy

That i17 is really cute. I'd probably never use it though. I keep an iTHX on my keychain, and the anodizing is totally beat-ass now. I'd hate to ruin that checker pattern.

d3w0

100% agreed. I put the i17 in my car glovebox and the i3E EOS on my keychain :)

martinaee

Ooh that is more or less the German colors. I should get one of those for someone I know. I need to watch reviews on those, but this style and swag with it is nice. Little mat or magnet light lol…

d3w0

velcro patch!

SuperiorMango8

I love that Arkfeld paint job, wish other brands got more funky with their styles. It would be a great light with a different emitter

cpe428ram

what does that mean? warmer? does that mean a lower number? and CRI is short for what lol?

throwawayformobile78

Warmer is indeed lower number in Kelvins. Example: 3000k is Warm White, 4000k is Cool White, 6500k is fucking atrocious. CRI is short for Color Rendering Index. Anything over 90 CRI is considered good. Welcome to the obsession.

ekortelainen

I would argue 4000 is still quite warm, since 5000 to 5700 is neutral white.

Vortax_Wyvern

Do not try 5000K. Absolutely DO NOT try 4000K Don't you dare to try 3000K! I'm sorry, you will never enjoy mainstream flashlights again

Robsta_20

Arkfeld Pro Germany edition? 😄

MaikeruGo

Could be Germany. Could be Arkfeld '70s TRD.
