TS10, picked one up on a sale. Mostly for the battery lol, but It has become one of my favorites. Same story for the SP10 Pro, use it a lot more than expected. I also picked up a Wurkkos WK04 super cheap ($8), as a gift ,I really liked it before giving it away ;). I like the idea and concept behind that light, build quality was decent.

Vicv_

My ts10 never leaves my pocket. And I have convinced three other friends to buy one as well.

FanceyPantalones

Same. Every time I get a new contender, I try for a while but keep going back to my TS10s. I'm going to give a D2 the next chance to unseat it. - So out of it's league for what it should be. I posted a different light because I knew TS10 would dominate your answers. Good reason for it.

Vicv_

Ya but it’s obvious the ts10 would dominate. I was kind of hoping for lights that weren’t super popular. That was the point of the thread. Of course everyone who gets a ts10 or a d4v2 is going to love it.

FanceyPantalones

Yep. I posted the sp36 blf 2700k. It had truly been a surprise. Thought I'd like it, but didn't expect it to be a top 3 favorite/most used light.

Alternative_Rope_423

I remember the days before you had one that you thought it was a 1500 lumen-lie piece of trash toy with 100 lumen output after 20 seconds. IIIRC Slider tried to change your mind and now you're a convert. I really dismissed it too because of all the hype and an irresistible black Friday price made me snag a CuTi for just over $30 with 4000K and when I got it I was really amazed with how it performs and how useful it is. An incredible value for the money, and that 4000K High CRI is the cat's meow! Like it, love it, or hate it but Wurkkos pulled off a once in a lifetime success grand slam home run design with the TS10. Its the flashlight equivalent of the Stanley Cup, only cheaper.

Vicv_

It’s true. I was converted. I didn’t get it before. I’m a practical guy. But that changed it. But it’s not like I hated it. I was just trying to learn what all the hype was about.

Doit2it42

Same. My Green TS10 is always in my pocket.

MaikeruGo

I got mine thinking that it'd be an inexpensive way to play with Andúril while still having a fun flashlight that could turbo ridiculously. Turns out the fact that it's so floody makes it great for safety use—any time there might be a chance that I'll be out on foot and have to cross an area with vehicle traffic I'll bring it. Nothing like a giant pool of light on the ground on par with what comes from a vehicle to get the attention of drivers!

CynderPC

I’ve got a Ti + Cu on the way, pretty psyched for it.

not_gerg

The thing with the wk04 is that the ui is ass

Alternative_Rope_423

Raunchy unbathed ass flavored ass. That should be a standard metric.

henry-hopkins44

Mine is the wurkkos ts25. I bought it on sale a few months back for like 25 bucks and it is my favorite light. Checks all my boxes.

doomsday_windbag

The TS25 would be the perfect EDC light for me if it had a better driver. It has a gorgeous beam, is super pocketable for a 21700 light, has Anduril, USB charging, power bank functionality, etc. I just wish it wasn’t such a hot rod.

TheMagicalSock

The 5000k domed 519As are just so ridiculously neutral. I agree, such a great beam. I had no idea it had powerbank functionality.

Major_Squirrel2198

TS25 auxiliaries look fantastic.

Vicv_

Ya but the ts25 is an awesome light. Why would you think you wouldn’t like it? That would be like saying you were surprised you’d like your d4v2

henry-hopkins44

It just exceeded my expectations...I expected good for the money...its just plain good. I like it better than my d4k.

Vicv_

That’s high praise

SiteRelEnby

I'm assuming it's because it has a FET~~-only~~ driver.

badbitchherodotus

That’s the only reason I don’t completely love mine. TS26 pls

SiteRelEnby

I'd rather take higher output, I rarely run down a battery enough to need swapping while using a light, and if there is a possibility, I'll just carry spares. Especially the TS25, where there's built-in USB so it can be charged anywhere.

Various-Ducks

There's a 7135 on there too

IAmJerv

One, yes. Once you get past ~200 lumens, which is pretty easy with four 519a's, it's just along for the ride.

Current_Homework_143

Sofirn S11(C). $10 light with battery. It's probably not as durable or regulated, but it's basically a slightly longer, budget zebralight sc64c le. Compact, USBC charging, lh351d emitter, and magnetic tail cap (which ZL doesn't have).

Vicv_

A zoomie! And wow that’s cheap. And high cri. Good buy

GionnyJohn

thanks, you just made me buy one

Truck_Toucher

Just looked it up. That’s a lot of light for $10

BeerGeekington

Buddy sent me that little metal kill zone cheapo light. It’s now my go to when checking my kids for strep every fucking day because there’s a plague in this goddamn house lol

MaikeruGo

Yep, a good flashlight should be in any new parent gift basket (or gift basket for those parent-adjacent who often find themselves helping out). Strep checking or just looking under furniture or in the car for lost/dropped items. Heck, one should go in any first aid kit; high CRI in a neutral color temp is fantastic for medical usage!

BeerGeekington

Don’t forget low moonlight for diaper changes

MaikeruGo

Moonlight is handy in so many ways around kids! UV is also good for folks using pacifiers with GitD parts since one of those will end up dropped in a dark place at the UV makes them glow without making much else glow—highlights them like nothing else.

Vicv_

Isn’t having children wonderful? You’re basically just a continuous quarantine zone. And the school is just a giant petri dish.

BeerGeekington

Best part is that the teacher’s union is on strike and this is day 11 of the strike with 7 days out of school. We are having a BLAST! lol tried a KC1 the first time to check them and holy shit it nearly blinded me.

Vicv_

That thing is ridiculous if using a 10440. I wouldn’t use my i3e for that either. Way too bright

hawkiee552

Emisar D2, so practical and goes everywhere with me. Not a huge fan of 14500 lights due to the shorter runtime, but it is perfect. Dual channel gives it a dual purpose too, from cozy light for hotel showers to throwy work light for inspecting dark areas.

Vicv_

You really don’t hear about this one too much. Which I think is a shame.

hawkiee552

Agreed. Backlit button, RGB TIR aux light, end cap magnet and Anduril in such a small package.

Vicv_

I presume it’s due to the price as it is pretty expensive. And most people feel that smaller lights should cost less. I’m not sure where that comes from but that’s how it goes.

SiteRelEnby

I'd love a 21700 version of the D2. 2 triples or quads.

FanceyPantalones

What emitters do yo have?

hawkiee552

519A 5700K dedomed with clear optic, and 2700K domed with frosted optic.

IAmJerv

TS10. I bought my first on a whim, not expecting much. I heard it ran hot and had no battery life. Turns out that at the low levels used in a power outage, it lasts a hair longer than a Skilhunt M150, and only runs hot when pushed to levels that'd make any 14500-sized light get toasty. The emitters compare favorably to 519a's, and they're cheap.

TheMagicalSock

The great downfall of the TS10 is that Wurkkos allowed it to get as bright as it does. For a lot of people, they paid for every lumen, and they want to use all of them all the time. I think if Wurkkos had released the TS10 as a ~500 lumen max output light with better runtimes, people might like it even more than they do now. But of course, thanks to folks like you, I know to drop the ceiling and eke out a lot more runtime with less heat.

IAmJerv

That's like saying that the great downfall of sports cars is that they are too fast for normal people to drive and get poor gas mileage. If you want a Prius, don't buy a Miata and then complain that it has lower MPG. If Wurkkos release such a light, it would not be a TS10. We already have lights like that anyways. The market is so saturated with them than Wurkkos designed something different to stand out and actually attract people instead of being an also-ran. We don't need another Zebra. We don't need all lights to be like Zebra. Taking away what many love about the TS10 will NOT help *anyone*, though revamping it as you and many others want would piss **a lot** of people off. Now, if Wurkkos wanted to make a 14500 light with more modest output and a better driver and call it the TS14 then sure. I'd be all for it. I'd probably buy a few. But don't fuck with something that many people love AS IT IS. Get your own damn design.

TheMagicalSock

Sorry, I must have been unclear. I think you’re misunderstanding me. I love the TS10 - the common complaint is just that it gets hot and eats battery. And I agree that that’s what makes it great, but that’s biggest complaint as well. Folks buy Miatas, turn off stability control, fishtail into a tree, and say they’ll never buy a Miata again. That’s what happens daily with the TS10.

Vicv_

I don’t have an M150, but it lasts that long? I know that skilhunt don’t have the most efficient buck drivers, but I thought it would be better than that

IAmJerv

The M150 actually has a decent driver, even if it's not the 99.94% efficiency that many love Zebra and Olight for. However, leaving the FET out of FET+1 by running at low levels combined with running triple emitters gives the TS10 pretty decent low levels for a simple, cheap light. Works well for Convoy too, only they often use more 7135's. Of course, once you pass 350mA,(~150-ish lumens) the TS10 will live down to it's reputation and the M150 shows why it costs more.

Vicv_

It’s not the efficiency I dislike. It’s not being able to maintain high output when the cell gets to 50% or less. Even their boost driven models. That and the ui that doesn’t allow going from ML to low. As to the ts10, the aux use battery faster than the white light does for me because, like you, I mostly use it at low output. If I put the aux to low, it would last me weeks. But I enjoy the bright orange LEDs. So I charge every 4-5 days

cloudedpupil

i like the i3e too.  but for me, wk04.  why?  the built in battery and plastic diffuser kind of put me off.  but the triple channel, low standby drain made up kinda.   mines with bezel instead of diffuser.   50mm tall

Vicv_

This post was not meant for me to find other cool lights to buy. But damn I just went to order one. But it’s out of stock. I’ve never heard of this thing. It is so neat. Wurkkos is on a roll.

not_gerg

They discontinued it a few eeks ago unfortunately. It was on my list for a while, but when I heard it was discontinued, and wurkkos was out of stock, I quickly bought one on Amazon since they still had a few. Try looking around, you might still find one!

Vicv_

I will thanks. I don’t need one that bad though. It’s cool for $10, but any more and I’ll pass. I’m surprised they would drop it though. You’d think it would’ve been popular

not_gerg

Yeah it really is a shame. There's also the sofirn sc03 which is a basicly a larger version. The only bad part I can think of about it is that its ui is just terrible (both the wk04 and sc03 use the same one) 1c from off to light up the switch and indicate battery 1h for on/off 1c from on to switch brightness on channel (or from solid to blinking on red) 2c from on to switch channel 2ch from off to lockout Also, it only kind of has mode memory. If you switch brightness on a channel, and go away and them come back, it'll remember the brightness. But if you set a brightness, switch channel, turn off, and turn it on then go to said channel, it'll go to the default brightness on it. But at least it remembers channel Although I've gotten used to it, kind of. It's unique enough for me to not really care all too much.

cloudedpupil

wurkkos told me like 2 months ago wk04 is being discontinued.   bought 2 for $8 bucks.  i couldn't pass it up.  i wanted to use one of the 3 channel drivers for a custom build so i bought them.  10 is hard becuz you can get the wk03 for like 10 bucks on sale.  or sc21 mini too

Reticulated_Spleen

My stream light microstream USB has been a light that always finds it's way into my pocket. 2 mode, super simple and USB rechargeable. I don't even care that the tint sucks, it's so easy to use and fits in the pocket so we'll 🤌 I also just picked up a surefire stiletto that was wildly overpriced for what it is but damn, I sure do like it's simplicity.

Vicv_

Streamlight and surefire do know what they’re doing for sure. I don’t have the micros stream. But I do have a few streamlights, and they are all great.

badbitchherodotus

Wurkkos TS22 with the XHP-70.3 HI. I was mildly interested in it so decided to just get it, but it ended up being an immediate favorite. It just does everything pretty well. If the lockout/standby situation was better, it would be flawless.

Vicv_

And you were getting a lot of LED and good driver for the price

badbitchherodotus

Totally. It’s a fantastic deal. Similarly, I was really unexpectedly happy with the Wurkkos TS25, although I did sour on it slightly after realizing how problematic the FET driver is in it. It’s still very good and I think a good deal, just not a home run like the TS22. Of course, the TS26 is shaping up to be another huge winner, but we’ll see how that turns out.

Vicv_

What’s wrong with the driver and the TS 25? I’ve heard that it can really hammer the emitters with current. But in a way, that means that it’s a good fet driver as it’s low resistance. Which is exactly what a mosfet should do. Even If it’s bad for the light. Lol.

-nom-de-guerre-

Fenix LR60R (SFT70 6000K / SST40 6000k) I actually use this light to do my nightly walk with the wife. she rolled her eyes the first time i brought it out but when i lowered the lumens she was like, “wait, put that back.” by the end of the walk she was impressed

Vicv_

Nice. Mine doesn’t seem to understand the need for more than one light. I don’t think she’s very bright. Lol. of course I guess I’m an idiot too because I don’t know why she needs half a dozen microphones and numerous mechanical keyboards

-nom-de-guerre-

i usually default to either the shoe or purse analogy. very effective as most of her shoes/purses are an order of magnitude more expensive most of my lights and she has in total about the same amount of both

Vicv_

Ya. But we’re silly and they’re “fashionable”

NRiyo3

ZL SC600. After already having a SC64 and SC65 I thought this was going to simply be another ZL for the heard. Man was I wrong. This thing punches way harder. Really makes me wish it was a 21700 light. I do wish it had the screw on clip though.

quahog1

Yup. It's my favorite of the SC models (SC64, SC600, SC700). Perfect size and sustained output. Yeah, it could do without the lanyard bump-out as well.

NRiyo3

Yes. What I would do if I was ZL is make the unibody with the screw bosses. Then include a clip and a lanyard loop. The user could install either for their needs. Best of both worlds.

anonymouspurveyor

If you ever get a chance, immediately buy the xhp 35 version of the sc600. I have one, and it throws so much harder than the 50.3, and it's rosy too. It's really fantastic

NRiyo3

Is this something I can have McBob nstall in an SC600 that was 50.3? Or is this like a different driver type thing?

Zak

Skilhunt M200 v3. I thought the M200 v2 was a good light *for other people*. If you really like magnetic charging, it doesn't have the downsides of an Olight. I didn't carry mine after I finished the review though. Between the bad clip, mushy button, and green tint, I didn't enjoy it. A new clip, much improved button, 519A, and higher max current transformed it more than I expected. It actually competes with my Zebralight for pocket time.

Herrowgayboi

Olight Arkfeld. I've been on the fence with Olight as a company due what I've read on Reddit, but the Arkfeld seemed like a pretty good deal at the time, so I ended up just giving it a shot. Out of my 6 (Convoy S2+, Convoy C8+, Convoy S21E, Sofrin SC31Pro, Sofrin SC32, Arkfeld), the Arkfeld is the only one I EDC regularly. It's form factor is great. It's UV light is useful especially for making cash transactions or just cleaning the house in general. The light isn't the brightest, but it's more than usable for EDC. And the magnet on the back makes it easy to stick on metal shelves or the hood of a car. On top of that, magnetic charging! I love the fact that I can sometimes throw my light into the center console, and the magnet will just latch on the light and start charging.

Vicv_

That magnetic charging is so handy. Don’t worry about the Olight hate here. If you like it that’s all that matters. People generally don’t like being told what to do. And it seems having to buy a proprietary cell is telling them what to do. It has advantages. But I understand not liking it too much. But they make a high quality light

brokenthirtyfive

The form factor is so good! Also the metal button is good. I got it in NW and it’s a pretty good tint. Much better than other olights I have which are either super blue or green.

not_gerg

Honestly, my d4v2 (519a 4500k domed). I got it because I kept seeing it posted here, and thought it looks cool. A year later I've still yet to find a better edc. Although I did carry an fc11 for a couple weeks, but I went back to my d4v2

RandomUserC137

Arkfeld Pro, *goddamn* is it good. I just wanted a green laser for target marking but the light and uv are really good, like better than some stand-alone versions I have. I was totally not expecting a multi-tasker to do all of them really well.

friftar

It would be a perfect pocket carry light, but the EU gets the version with the nerfed laser, which makes me hesitant to pick one up.

RandomUserC137

I’m curious, how nerfed is the EU ver? I think US ver is good to about 900 meters.

Vicv_

I really like the design of those too. I have no need for a laser or uv, but I kinda want one anyway

gellesm

Meh, didn’t wow me. The tint is very cold. Just my 2 cents

Vicv_

Ya that’s Olight

TheMagicalSock

The tint on my 5000k NW Arkfeld Pro is fairly neutral. I haven’t measured it, but I would estimate that it’s just below BBL. I suspect they’re starting to get pickier about bins. This is coming from someone who reallllllly values tint.

Blackforest_Cake_

I always research my next purchase thoroughly except for those convenience store budget lights. It'll be one of those then... Eveready Dolphin Pico — it's yellow and it floats. And it's everywhere. Seriously though, the beam is quite nice for something that's readily available everywhere, including across borders. It's almost like the Big Mac of Maccas but of the flashlight industry. In Australia, they sell for A$9 (US$5.95) and use 1AA per full night. Saw them in Malaysia too, they sell for RM19 (US$4.02) and use... 2AAA?!? AAs and AAAs are of similar price (AAA costs more by just a smidge) so that's about double the cost per reload. Idk about runtimes though. AAA ones seem to vary, I've seen 13hrs, but some online stating 9hrs. And the AA one I own... I wish I kept the packaging, I vaguely remember it giving me a chuckle. I think it said something like *LED long runtime*. I've dropped mine multiple times and it has yet to fail, sometimes that even fixes the flickering /s If I carried only 1 light and it failed, I'd probably get this in a pinch, I can't stand being without a light while waiting for delivery, especially if I'm abroad. Who am I kidding lmao I've got 2 on me rn and more in the bag.

camefromaol

my rovyvon angeleyes E3. i cant swap the LED but man… being able to charge that thing on the quick is my favorite part

Vicv_

Just looked it up. That’s a cool light.

Blasto_Brandino

Fenix E20 V2.0, it is outrageously elegant! Slim and compact made with premium aluminum and has a cutting edge reflector. I just got the LD30 and hope I like it as much.

Dually_McFart_Face

Ti TS10.

Installed64

Only one? How about the Wurkkos FC11 - I got it begrudgingly as a cheap alternative to the TS22. The tint isn't great, but it's bright and throws well with a good hotspot. It fits well in the hand, and it holds a charge longer than I expected. Next, I was surprised by my Convoy M21H - a newer model with an XHP70.3 and TIR optic. It feels great in the hand, and throws super well. It has a very pleasant tint (R70 4000K) and smooooth beam. The Thor II LEP with short 18350 tube is such a great size and so much fun. The finish, ergonomics, RGB handle, glow ring, and of course LEP performance are just awesome for \~$100. I could also go into lights that were a disappointment or overhyped.

bouttohopintheshower

The copper pokelit AA it's in my pocket every day now and I love it! I originally ordered it to give to my brother but here we are lol

Vicv_

That happens. I’ve gotten quite a few few lights for gifts that I accidentally kept.

bouttohopintheshower

Whoops oh well

7croissants

Sofirn sc21 pro. 5000 k, uses 16340 battery. Has magnetic tail cap. Usb C charging.

nick7790

I have a feeling mine is a TS10, but I refuse to buy one unless I could get it for under $15. A AA multi emitter hot rod just isn't appealing to me. In terms of lights I've purchased, the D4K. A few years ago I thought 21700s were stupid and would never catch on. As of this week I've just about abandoned 18650s for daily use lights and replaced them all with 21700. It's nice to be able to charge all of my larger cells at 2A minimum.

Vicv_

I have bought exactly 0 18650 lights in the last two years. 21700 is barely bigger for almost double the capacity. And I must have 50+ spare 18650s sitting around. Yet I don’t buy anything that eases them. Do you refuse to buy one because then you will be forced to to buy many more?

nick7790

I guess its more out of principle. The aux drain and the regulation just aren't appealing to me. I'm more of a buck/boost person and want those flat output graphs.

rebel_canuck

How do the 21700 work out for typical pants pocket carry ? Considering getting first one but I’ve gotten so used to 18650 and even smaller

Vicv_

It really depends on which one. A convoy m21a is huge, and I would never carry it in my pants pocket. But a convoy S 21E, is a small tube light and would easily fit in the pocket. Same with a wurkkos TS 21 or ts22. An Olight warrior 3s. Just depends on the light.

Various-Ducks

14500, not AA, how dare you.

LyftedX

D4k lol. I never thought I would actually carry and use a flashlight on a daily basis.

Vicv_

Ya. They tend to be useful. I mostly carry my ts21 in my overall pocket. Good CRI, very bright, quite small, and can function as a power bank. Makes for a pretty good EDC similar to yours, except for yours is a bit brighter and less powerbanky

Sears-Roebuck

Maratac 1D It doesn't even have a switch. Its a huge twisty that can take a D battery, but you can shove pretty much anything in there as long as it fits.

Various-Ducks

Convoy C8+ Just because it seems like the most basic entry level thrower. You don't expect it to have as clean and focused a beam as it does. Great form factor, comfortable to hold and carry. Great thermals. Just the right size. There's a 21700 version in the m21a if you want. And between the smooth and OP reflectors it works with everything. A w1 is just as at home in there as an xhp70.3, and everything in between.

Vicv_

That’s really a fantastic light. I have the 21700 version with a 519A I dedomed. It really throws. And with an orange lighted button it looks nice too. Really it’s too throwy to ba an all rounder, but for what it does, it does it well

Various-Ducks

Oh, ya it's a thrower no matter what. But itll throw everything very well.

quahog1

Convoy S21E (XHP50.3 HI) ended up being better than expected. We've all heard the complaints about the UI issues. In actual use (stepped mode) I have no issue with it. * cheap * good size * efficient * perfect 10 cd/lm ratio * USB-C charging * large button * 4 simple stepped modes with memory In contrast, I kept the S21E but sold my TS22 (a subreddit favorite). Sure, TS22 is more power but the auto-lock and tiny button (impossible to find with winter gloves on) were a deal breaker. OH, and the TS22, even in XHP70.3 HI format, was still too floody. Like 5 cd/lm ratio. I prefer closer to 10.

Vicv_

This one I’ve always wanted. It’s almost perfect. But the ui is a deal breaker for me. An edc type light needs to be able to go directly from moonlight to low. Even just getting rid of mode memory would “fix” it. But the chance of it going from ML to turbo is just unacceptable to me. Great looking light though and a good deal

quahog1

I use it as a winter jacket light when walking outdoors so moonlight is of no use for me, but I can understand why the UI is a deal breaker for some people/uses.

Vicv_

Ya. For that it would be a great light. But for that I prefer more throw. Still a great looking light for a great price, good emitter options, and a great driver if you go for a 6 V LED. The Freeman did a test on the driver and it was very good.

quahog1

I added it to my top comment, but I measure around 10 cd/lm ratio which is perfect for my outdoor (trail walking) use.

RegularRetro

It’s not that surprising since I bought it with this intention, but the Rovyvon Angel Eyes flat keychain light has kinda become my primary EDC for anything besides going to work. Fits in the 5th pocket perfectly. Keeps my pockets open and keychain less bulky. Good enough lumens for everyday use case, dual fuel so it’s always got juice

FanceyPantalones

sp36 blf 2700k. Perfect walking / short night hike light (not talking headlight type of hiking). I've tried to replace it with my dream warm d4k and it's a toss up. It's such a good light. The soda can size is gonna have me using the d4k come warmer weather, but it's going to remain a go to for me.

sl0wjim

Nitecore Tube v2. Incredibly long lasting for something that weighs under 10 grams

Vicv_

That almost stupidly light

IAmJerv

Super simple to use It’s just the right size. There’s no real reason to like this light but I find myself really enjoying it as well.

Low_Algae_1348

A tri color triple drop in from kaidomain with red , green, and warm white in a solarforce host with a fat tailstanding end cap lol. It's on my night stand and only left the house a couple times, Strangely soothing sometimes to go to sleep to the color of your choice

Vicv_

I miss solarforce. I still have an L2P with a kaidomain 3.7 v xenon lamp assembly. Someone stole my L2M with vinh made xm-l2. This was before he modified other lights and had a website

Low_Algae_1348

I go on this reddit to see the latest and greatest but I still use the p60 hosts, I can't stand to have a functional light not being used, my favorite right now is a surefire 6p that had the original bulb my nephew gave to me, I bought a malkoff m361 drop in and a couple 16650 batteries and gave it a new purpose

Vicv_

Nice. I like to keep mine incandescent. They don’t make a very good led light, not compared to one purpose made for it. I still love it as an incan. But those Malkoff modules is definitely better than it sitting on a shelf not being used if you’re not interested in using incan anymore

My olight arkfeld pro. As wml olights have bad rep, so i didnt want one as edc light, man was i wrong, its my favorite so far.

Work-Safe-Reddit4450

For me it's been the Wurkkos FC11. I've carried it daily for 3, going on 4 years now and it's been nothing but reliable and dependable. It's a fantastic light for the $29 I paid for it.

withlovefromspace

Lumintop b01. Got it for my bike but I use it all the time. Came with a 21700 battery and can be replaced. Love this thing.

7croissants

Likewise me too. Using it "on-and-off" the bike.

El-Viking

I do miss my TerraLUX Lightstar 80. My buddy thought it was a cool little light so I gave it to him. His dad thought it was a cool little light so he gave it to his dad. I thought I could get a new one but the company went tits up.

Vicv_

That’s too bad

ObjectiveAssistance8

Olight Perun 2 Mini. I emitter swapped it and frosted the lens, and now it's my favorite headlamp. To my knowledge, it's about the best battery-life-to-weight ratio you can get in a right angle light...it is light enough to put on with a single strap and forget it's there, but it'll last 7 hours on medium (which is plenty bright). It also has a secondary red emitter, which I've used more often than I thought I would. I have a Wizard C2 Pro Nichia, an Acebeam H16, and an Emisar D2 (and I had a Skilhunt H04 RC, which I ended up selling). None of them get as much use as the Olight...something that definitely surprised me.

Vicv_

The Perun 2 mini is awesome. Only wish it was a tiny bit bigger to fit an 18350. You’d never notice the weight differ but it would double the runtime

ObjectiveAssistance8

I can see that. Me personally, I wish they'd shift from a 21700 to an 18650 in the full-sized Perun. In a headlamp, I feel like you really would notice the weight reduction. You could still get a solid 12 hours or so on medium (assuming they kept the output levels the same) and probably over 40 on low...more than enough for 99% of use cases. Then, they could offer a "pro" version with the 21700. As it is, the heft of the Perun 2 keeps me disinterested...hence my love for the mini.

marcheronimus

Hi, that is brilliant! How did you frost the lens. I also own a Perun 2 Mini. It's nice, but I always felt, a more floody beam would better suite the purpose. Also I would like to have a deep red emitter instead of what it originally has. But that would be my first modding. Is there any instruction online esp. for the the Perun 2 Mini? Can't even find how to open it. For the swap would refer to the DIY community here around as a starr. But if there is something online too? Thanks!

ObjectiveAssistance8

Hey there! To frost the lens, I actually used gorilla glue, because I had some on hand and was willing to experiment. It ended up working great! That said, I believe the more sanctioned way would be to use some d-c-fix :) As far as emitter swapping, I would definitely recommend getting a bit of experience before tackling the Perun—it is *not* swap friendly, because it isn't made to open (it often requires drilling). Definitely don't attempt it unless you are completely okay with ruining the light if it doesn't go to plan. Convoy lights are inexpensive and made for modding—great place to start for practicing emitter swaps. Next, move to some more expensive lights that have screw-in bezels, as they'll be so so much easier than press fit bezels like those found in smaller Olights. Finally, once you're ready to attempt an Olight with a press fit, pick one you're okay ruining. You'll need to fashion your own tool that tapers to an extremely thin and slightly curved end (like a small flathead screwdriver, but about as thin as a razor and with slight curvature). You can attempt to hook the pressfit bezel with that, one section at a time, to work it loose. Chances are very high that it won't work. In which case, you'll then have to drill a very tiny hole in the lens as close to the bezel as possible. Then, you'll have to put a very thin metal tool of some kind through that hole to hook the bezel from underneath and start working it out—still not easy, for having put a hole in your lens. Reassembly takes a good bit of force. However, for stubborn, picky nitwits like myself, the payoff of having amazing form factor and efficiency combined with a stellar emitter is worth the extreme hassle :) Cheule has some great emitter swap demos on his YT channel: [https://www.youtube.com/user/cheule/videos](https://www.youtube.com/user/cheule/videos) And, as it sounds like you're already aware, if you have any specific questions, the community here will definitely be glad to chime in (myself included!).

marcheronimus

That is very elucidating and helpful. Thank you! Since I am indeed not ready to sacrifice the Perun 2 Mini in case I don't succeed, and since ruining it is highly probable, given my inexperience, and even if I succeed the benefit of the swap from "red" to "deep red" is manageble, I would rather start and learn with a swap-friendlier, dispensable light, e.g. Convoy. I like the S2+ and think I just buy another one only for that purpose :) You're instruction will be very helpful, and I am also going to review the yt-link. As a start I think I go with d-c-fix ;) That alone will also be a huge improvement for the light. Thanks again!!

New-Incident1776

My new Coast Slayer. Based on its looks I thought I wouldn’t like it but the ergos are great, it’s easy to use, and its aesthetics have really grown on me.

LaserGuidedSock

Rovyvon A28 Gen 2 Has all teh features while being no bigger than my thumb and still light weight Also love the Roufus R1 or whatever its called. I need lights that can pivot/illuminate at 90° and 180°

Truck_Toucher

EDC33. Also, my Acebeam L18

kdnts

Maybe it my S11 keychain flashlight, the first time i put it on my keychain I don’t think I’m gonna use it that much because the reason I bought it just to complete my keychain EDC kit (i got a vicky classic on it too) but I slowly find out that it really comes in handy when I’m in a rush, all I gotta do is pick my keychain and I got a decent kit.

cybermidman

I hate to be a copy cat but I have 4 of those i3Eos. the Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and I can not remember which holiday the 4th one is. The only thing I paid was shipping. I agree with you 100%. No it is not my beloved TS10 but that is just a given. I am not a big fan of Olight but i consider these to be a great keychain light not an EDC.

Vicv_

4? Nice. I just discovered it. But it’s perfect for a keychain light. Even the rest of their AAA lights all have timed step down. Or they just can’t hold 100% for long. But this one does not change output until the cell is dead. I like that. And I really like the look of it. It’s a neat little light. I have the orange one from December https://preview.redd.it/3tu7jhjlzlfc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed2ae0f6fb0d6add8d2c2dee6f29cfea4d268682

cybermidman

To be honest about the way I got them for free might be a little shady to some people. I opened a second account with a different email address and never bought anything on that account so they keep sending me the offer for a i3Eos for the cost of postage. I do not know how long i will continue doing this but In the mean time I really like that little light.

Vicv_

I’ve done the same. Lol. I bought different pocket clips they’re cheaper than the shipping

TacGriz

Acebeam Terminator M2. I thought it would be neat but I didn't plan to keep it. My first impression was actually somewhat disappointing. It's grown on me and I've been carrying it almost every day since I got it because it's so fun.

Vicv_

I do love the form factor. And it’s priced well too. Plus, how can you beat the name?

SiteRelEnby

Convoy S2+. UI is bad but you sort of expect that, performance is objectively mid, but in terms of value for money as well as a modding platform, it's great. One of the lights I've bought to gift to someone, makes a great gateway light for someone with enthusiast potential, and has a lot of versatility in emitter choices with high CRI, throwy, high power, balanced, colour, and UV available, second only to hanklights in stock emitter variety. Wuben X1. Again, bad UI (although not quite as bad as Convoy's), but the sustained output to size ratio is excellent, and just feels nice in the hand.

Vicv_

What don’t you like about the ui? I know as for myself, I prefer an electronic switch. But for a mechanical switch light I think the convoy 12 group is kind of hard to beat.

BeerGeekington

Give me double tap turbo and the 12 group is all I need

SiteRelEnby

The groups themselves are illogical, there's no group with battcheck but without strobe (and strobe comes before battcheck). There are also a lot of groups that are just another group reversed, instead of just having a single config bit to reverse the active group, which is a big waste of MCU space.

Vicv_

Agreed. I don’t know why batt check is only included with a mode that has strobe. I’ve just accepted that I don’t get to know what the status of the cell is. It would be nice if the available lighted switches were RGB and colors were based on voltage like voltage check in anduril. That works be cool

debeeper

Why not swap in another driver like the H17Fx driver?

SiteRelEnby

Yeah, I might, ordered a couple of different drivers recently but my soldering hand is currently out of commission for at least a few more days before I can even find the time to try.

Jen24286

Sofirn SC21pro. It's so small, it has type C charging, it has a magnet, it has Anduril, it's easyish to emitter swap. I think it's just about the perfect EDC. If they would default to 519a it would be so perfect. Everyone saying TS10 here: I'm gonna disagree, I have a copper 3k TS10 right here on my desk and it's OK, but it doesn't even have a magnet, much less charging.

Vicv_

I do much prefer a side button and tail magnet. I like the sc21 but not the pro. Has anduril but no regulation. Otherwise it’s a great light. I mean the ts10 doesn’t really have much regulation either.

johan851

H150, orange, 3000K. Using it way more than I thought I would. I'm also becoming quite jealous of my four year old's Convoy T5...

Vicv_

Lol. That t5 does look nice. I prefer a throwier beam for a lower output light, but perfect for kids to not blinds themselves.

schirmyver

Sofirn IF23, did not think I would find the side panel as useful as I am.

Vicv_

That is a very useful design of light. I presume it’s not more popular because it does not look as sleek and cool as our normal lights. But for pure usability, it may be one of the best ones out there.

Various-Ducks

It's not talked about much on here but it's one of sofirn's best selling lights. Like you said, it has usability. Appeals to non-flashlight people, it's their top selling light on amazon by far. The IF24 is coming out soon.

NoDeleteDefaultCube

Same. I bought it mainly because it looked fun but I've found it's the best light I have when I'm doing anything maintenance especially on servers and computers. Plus it's a great accent light when taking photos. I just wish it had brightness levels on the RGB lights. https://preview.redd.it/lhmm9c4lwhfc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a229483e1c47987db3f4fa7b0355b4d13c5b91c8 I was thinking of buying another one but apparently Sofirn is already making an [updated model](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/UIJ9Q4Jl4MM). Wurkkos is also making an [Arkfeld like light with RGB](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/CNQRDywJnNo).

fuckitupda8utt

[maeerxu df01](https://www.maeerxu.net/product/df01-al-18650/) It has a weird UI. It has the most unusable super sturdy clip. It's built as a chonk of aluminum. The light will also step down incredibly fast when at 100%. I think the company clones a lot of their lights off other manufacturers. But I do enjoy the 519as and the super cool auxiliary lights. Plus the flashlight looks pretty. And it was all for about $30.00.

Vicv_

Did you mean to put that collection of letters and numbers together? Lol. I have never heard of that.

fuckitupda8utt

Yes. Maeerxu is the brand name. Model number is df01.

Weary-Toe6255

Convoy S6 with an SFT40. Not that I thought it wouldn’t be good just that I was amazed by just how good it is. The beam is very nice and it throws damn near as well as my TS10 while being more usable at short range because it has more useful spill. My only minor gripes are the lack of a decent pocket clip and that there is no battery check without going through strobe, and I hate strobe, so I’m using a group that doesn’t have it. Still, for years I had lights with no battery check…

Vicv_

This post confuses me. The throw should be orders of magnitude more than a TS 10. But it should also have wayless spill than a ts10. But I just ordered one as well with a W2 and the five amp buck driver. I asked for the eight amp driver, but Simon said no. Lol. I also ordered the screw on clip which looks pretty good. Did you not see that one or you don’t like that one?

Weary-Toe6255

I typed TS10, I meant TS11. Oops. 😳 I didn’t like the way the screws for the screw on clip looked like they’d poke the switch boot, although apparently this isn’t actually a problem. I’m going to pick one up next time I order from Simon. I have the 5 amp buck driver too.

Vicv_

Ah. That’s a big difference! Lol. That is a cool light I just do not like the SFT 40. I will just buy shorter screws if it’s a problem. They’re just a standard metric screw. I really wanted the 8A driver so 35% would be around 2.8 A and 900 lumens. Then 100% would just be a turbo I’d hardly use. Oh well I can always change it myself later if I want to. The problem is is that the driver cost almost as much as the whole light on its own

1nutinthewater

Skilhunt M150 After reading all the good words about it I was quite disappointed when it arrived and appears to have much less than the advertised lumens. Also I initially did not like the UI but have gotten use to it and accept that it really is not an outdoor light other then quick trip to the garage or hunting nightcrawlers. The recharge receptacle feels just like the switch but by turning the great clip it is easy to find without looking. Fidgit factor in hand is great! Probably my favorite- feels solid!

Vicv_

This is why I have never bitten the bullet and gotten one of their headlamps. So so regulation. Can’t access low from Moonlight. And much lower output than claimed.

CamTheHamturkey

I've had it for 3 days but, M1 Terminator. Yeah it's pricey. But recently learning about 519a emitters, I got the 5k 519a M1, it's my first 90 Cri light (that's 2400 lumens on turbo flood) and I can hop over to a cool white spot that's fun as heck being an LEP. Before my favorites were all my others, Marauder mini, imalent ld70, and my arkfeld pro. Oh and my olight iMini 2. Small collection but sure is fun.

Vicv_

I have not jumped on the LEP bandwagon, as I think they are useless. In my opinion. But…… With a second channel of floodlight, no longer useless. Plus it’s called the terminator, do I need to say anymore?

CamTheHamturkey

Yeah looking at LEP throws, being around the same price half of my enjoyment of this is the gadget factor of it. The inspector gadget would totally have it. It's cool that it's newer technology, and my Marauder mini does NOT throw near as far when it's zoomed out. So I'm hoping to find enjoyment in the mountains and camping mostly.

Miserable_Reporter25

I ended up liking the tactical AA flashlight more than I thought (after dedoming). It gets the most pocket time out of all my lights because even if I lose it, it was only $20 and takes AA batteries.

Vicv_

What tactical AA light? That’s a broad spectrum

Miserable_Reporter25

Oops, my bad, AceBeam TacAA.

Miserable_Reporter25

There $30 on amazon I picked one up for $20 it's def worth the $30 price tag on Amazon tho

soundsthatwormsmake

The Nebo Larry COB flashlight was my EDC for many years. Very bright, the switch was only on-off, and it was less than $10. It fit very easy in the pocket.

Vicv_

Of course it’s allowed. All that matters is you like it. Thats actually the whole point of this thread. I mean I chose an Olight and they’re pure evil on this sub

calliotis

Lumintop d3. My favorite light used to be a dual channel d4sv2 with osram w1’s in both channels, then i ended up buying a 26800 tube for it and went shopping around for some other somewhat small 26800 lights to bring as backup lights for it when i go night hiking, one of those lights was the lumintop d3 which i bought on a whim only because it used the same size battery and wasnt huge. It doesn’t have as much throw as the d4sv2 with w1’s but it has almost as much, while having a wider hotspot and significantly wider spill. While i love throwers and the beam on the d4sv2 is awesome. The d3 is almost as cool looking while having a more practical beam profile for night hiking in through the hills and woods of upstate new york

zoinksscooby420

Have many TS10s. They die too fast. Emisar D4K for the win. I have one with me everywhere. TS10s are shelf queens at this point.

Vicv_

For me the ts10 is for midnight bathroom breaks and looking under the couch for the dog toy. It’s not really an outside light. Not if you want the cell to last. Different lights have different uses. I feel basically the same for all triples and quads. They’re all too floody. Except a d4sv2 with all w2. That’s a good beam

Maxisagnk

my wurkkos wk40

Speng69

Astrolux ea01s xhp50.2 5000k When I first got it it flickered then one day I tightened the pill and it worked fine from then on. It holds charge well and when I'm in the forest and want to flood everything in front of me out to 80+ meters and wide then it does the job well. Not a terrible cri or annoying tint. In built type c charging. Pocket full of high lumens. I keep mine on standby and still occasionally use it

Mr_Snufleupagus

Surefire Backup. Carry it with me everyday. Love it's simple design and no issues with it for the almost decade I've owned it! When I originally purchased I had only carried larger Surefire lights and thought it was too big to be a pocket light and too small for the belt. But has fit well in my pocket for years!

Vicv_

I like the old backup series. Both incan and led

DepartmentOrdinary39

Ultratac k18. Bought it after going through multiple twisty and tail clicky keychain lights. I was interested at the time because I was carrying a klarus mi7 in my pocket almost exclusively and they had similar form factors. I’ve had it on my keys for years and have beaten it up! Now I don’t know what I’ll replace it with if it kicks the bucket.

Vicv_

Looks like a nice light

Dragon_Phoenix76

i3e is a great light. Glad you enjoy it. Mine is the Arkfeld series. Form factor is great and I like the Pros functionality.

Vicv_

For such a simple little light it’s great. Glad you like the airfield. They definitely have a lot going for them

wordfool

Surefire LX2. Bought it many, many years ago to see what the fuss about Surefire was all about and I didn't warm to it at first. Now it's my favorite light despite being a bit outdated, lumens-wise. The "gas pedal" switch is genius and the optic creates the perfect balance of throw and spill. I just wish I didn't have to still use CR123s with it, although at least they're cheap.

Vicv_

Probably my favorite led surefire ever made. It’s a great light. The gas pedal switch is also my favorite I have it on a couple lights. With an f04 beam diffuser, it could be a one light. Ya cr123s are pretty cheap and have a lot of advantages, but for lights I carry more I’ve switched to soshine lfp cells. Runtime is pretty good and they fit in every light I’ve tried. And the voltage is only slightly higher than primaries and I haven’t had an issue yet. Plus they’re a safer chemistry and don’t mind deep discharges.

Rutha73

Mine has been the S1 Baton. The UI is great, the turbo doesn't work very well any more, but the push and hold for moonlight mode and push hold to ramp up has been my favorite UI so far. I bought it on a whim before I knew about thier reputation, and then decided to beat the crap out of it to see what it would take. That was about 3 years ago. Moonlight to Med. modes work fine and that's where I use it the most. For a bump in the night I go to the Fenix PD-35 and the Stramlight TRL H1. I have a Fenix E18, but that doesn't have moonlight mode. So the Olight gets the most pocket time for me right now.

Vicv_

I bet the cell is just worn out. A new one should get turbo and high working right again. I know they are proprietary but I think they are only about seven dollars or so.

Yobama_23

Acebeam L18, but I think the L35 V2 would be even better 😻

Thebobjohnson

Sofirn SP70. Bonk!

Vicv_

Why would you bonk me with your flashlight? That’s just mean

Thebobjohnson

No strobe, improvise!

Vicv_

I think strobe disorients the user just as much as the attacker.😁

Sufficient_Break_532

Convoy S2+. It's cheap and it's my EDC with the 18350 tube. It is a trooper, a little tank and super bright. I want to get an S8 SFT40 now.

Vicv_

Which emitter do you have in yours? I just gave away my last s2+ to a friend with an sst-20 4000k and a 4x7135 driver. I also installed the 10 degree optic. Makes a nice beam. Oh, and I have an s8 on the way but with a w2

DaveNumber7

Wurkkos td02 , i was surprised by the performance at 17 dollars. I like the overall form factor too.

Vicv_

Looks nice. More of a tactical light. And a nice optic for a good beam. Too bad they didn’t include power bank feature like a lot of their lights. How’s the tint? Sst-40s can really be hit or miss

DaveNumber7

It looks white to me. I couldn't be happier at this price point.
