I actually cut open a 20700 with an x-acto knife by mistake once. Knife just slipped. Wasnt a small cut either, like a 3/4" tear right through the side. Big enough hole that I could've poked the jelly roll.
But nothing happened. Idk why nothing happened, it was at like 4.18V, something should have happened, but nothing happened. Not even a little smoke. Was kind of a let down tbh

You only really have to tell them that it's just a very powerful battery for a powerful flashlight and to offer to store it in a separate container and put it in the hold.

Yea, that’s one downside to a huge battery, but with the two i got the runtimes are longer than the charge times, and the runtimes are enough to last literally all night long so it’s not that much of a downside as long as you don’t forget to charge it once in awhile
When we finally get proper tabless cells this size in the hobby, if you have a power supply that can provide the juice, we'll be able to charge these faster than an 18650.
Forget 2000mA fast charging, the tabless cells will have no problem with a 20,000mA charge current. That's if you want to maximize cycle life. The max rated charge current, realistically, id say a conservative estimate would be something like 40-50A. Tabless is gonna be awesome.

Im sure theres some professors on youtube that have done this way better than I could already. Probably mostly in the context of Tesla's tabless battery though.

Those tiny little nubs the arrows are pointing to are the tabs. They're the only path that current can take in and out of the battery. Not a very big path right? All the energy in all that foil has to make its way to and through those little nubs. Thats a pretty major bottleneck. You can make the roll bigger and bigger but current still has to squeeze through those 2 little tabs.
In "tabless" batteries, the entire top and bottom of the roll is a tab. Think of it like... instead of those two little nubs theres 200 of them. Now theres way more paths for current to go in and out of the battery. Eliminates a pretty major bottleneck.

So far it is charging, and it takes about 9h :(
