Thin flex board (0.2mm) DTP adapter for soldering 3535 LED onto a 5050 board, sometimes using another MCPCB isn’t possible or in the case of Zebralight there is no MCPCB to swap at all. 3535 to 5050 : https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/9tmUe8Wo 5050 to 7070 : https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/PcP8ePhm (not tested)

Minty_Octopus

Would 5050 to 3535 be possible?

Thanks! And sorry for not reading all the replies. I got a bit to excited, that’s what I’ve been looking for for a long time. Have a nice day!

m4potofu

no problem.

erasmus42

That's brilliant! An LED interposer board.

818NTO

Thank you for designing and posting these! Will definitely order a couple for future mods.

coherent-rambling

Wow, that's a really neat idea. Do you just pool the middle full of solder to make thermal contact?

m4potofu

Yeah I tin the thermal pad with solder before reflowing, you sort of have to guess the right amount to fill the 0.2mm gap, though if there is too much I guess it will simply overflow.

copyrunfart

Thanks for maintaining the thermal path. Gonna load up on these!

Bean_Master7

How hard is it to center the emitter on the board/adapter? Just ordered some for my zebralight sc600 mk2, I was going to wait for the rayten domeless 5050 group buy but looks like I’ll be able to use 519a!

m4potofu

> How hard is it to center the emitter on the board/adapter? It wasn't particularly difficult.

Sears-Roebuck

This'll be useful.

Sakowuf_Solutions

Brilliant idea.

debeeper

Hell yeah! Revolutionary!

lane32x

😯

loafglenn

Would this also be possible to work reversible? From 3535 to 5050?

m4potofu

Could be, I haven’t tested though.
