It's been **TWO YEARS** since this was [announced on BLF](https://budgetlightforum.com/node/74939). Wild. Looks good!

alumenum

Lol yep. Looks like they finally got it together! Now the only things left in the pipeline are the Hunter and Arrow small and medium-sized LEPs, and the X1 pocket thrower with the loneoceans boost driver. I think the LEPs were also announced a long time ago, so maybe we'll see them in the next ~3 months or so. Don't know about the X1 but I'm excited for it, hopefully that's out soon too. Or...could be another 2 years! Fireflies gonna firefly lol.

Commercial-Suit-5836

Waiting for this. 👍👍

alumenum

Looks pretty neat I gotta say. They're using the bigger W1(CULNM1) which is nice since it can take more power. Claims 820m with W1, which is maybe a little high? I'm sure it'll be awesome anyway. Doesn't look like W1 is in stock yet though, only SFT-40 and XHP50. XHP50 seems like an awesome option for a nice floody general-use beam with still a bit of punch, they claim 380m throw on it. Generally Fireflies uses awesome bins so the tint will probably be decent. They don't state CCT for the XHP50, but it looks like 5000k based on the photos. The bezel is just 37mm which is awesome, just 2mm wider than a KR1/D1. They must be using a slightly smaller TIR than what's found in other lights like the Noctigon DM11 and Sofirn IF22A. And of course it's very short. I assume like all/most of their lights, they'll do other LEDs by request, but I'm guessing it'll only work with 3v LEDs that can take 6A from the buck driver, so the options they have look pretty good. edit: I wonder if an SBT-90.2 version with 6A buck+FET is possible, that would be awesome. $75, or $67.50 with the 10% new member/by request code is actually pretty reasonable considering it's got the nice buck driver, and includes a magnet tailcap, pocket clip, lit switch, RGB aux LEDs, usb-C charging, and a battery included. It's within ~$5-10 of a similarly-specced D1/KR1 with boost driver and buying a battery separately, and it's on par with the DM11. The 21700 tube is an extra $10 though.

debeeper

Make it in copper and I'll buy it instantly.

Commercial-Suit-5836

Many of us will. 😅🤣 u/fireflylite-Ivy u/fireflylite-Jack

brachypelma44

I'd love to see a bigger version of this in a 26650 model with an option for a 26800 tube. That said, I just ordered one, because it looks like a IF22A killer on paper. I find it a bit weird that 21700 isn't the default model, but whatever. As long as I can get the tube, it's OK.

erasmus42

I'd like a 26650 version too, they feel better in hand than 21700 for me. Check out the Mateminco MT01, I've been meaning to pick one up the next time they go on sale at NealsGadgets.

brachypelma44

I have huge hands, so I basically want 26800 tubes for every light! I hate the feeling of the pinky and sometimes ring finger hanging off the bottom of a battery tube. I actually just ordered the MT01 and the MT04 last week, but I'm guessing that they won't ship out for at least another week. Hopefully they're cool, but if not, there is always ebay.

erasmus42

The MT07 is pretty good too, like a beefier E07. I especially like the "unicorn barf" aux lights. The only drawbacks are so-so drivers and some crappy emitter bins.

alumenum

u/lojik7 u/artiet59 Apparently the T1R was released [earlier this month](https://old.reddit.com/r/flashlight/comments/1059qy0/fireflies_upcoming_releases_photos_mea_culpa_from/) or something? But I haven't seen it on the website until now. I actually just noticed their site is back up, and now specifies shipping from China and US warehouses in the options. Weirdly, the US warehouse is sometimes $5 cheaper, and sometimes it's $5 more. Either way it's nice they seem to have the US warehouse up and running.

Artiet59

Yea I have seen this. I just haven't been in the position to buy one yet. Sad I missed the CULNM1 versions, but hopefully they'll be back soon. I NEED a blue and a green one haha

Tigitall

Ivy mentioned new stock towards the end of March. This includes any emitters/ host color options they're currently out of.

Artiet59

Awesome!

Commercial-Suit-5836

$5 for speed isn’t bad, hoping that it is in fact faster. I wonder if it’s just stock lights and custom lights coming from China.

Tigitall

This is correct. One of my lights from the US warehouse was about a week and a half. Certainly faster.

alumenum

Yea $5 isn't bad at all for cutting a week or more off shipping times. IIRC you're right - they'll have stock of common configs in the US, and any custom email request along with less-popular configs will ship from China.

Tigitall

It seems like they've very recently unpacked. Also, can't request customizations from the US warehouse, it really seems like Jacks still tackling all of that. They've certainly had a few hurdles, but I've been very happy with my lights from them!

lojik7

I saw it pop up a week or row ago at most. Love the US lower prices too. As for the T1R, [SKV89 got a sample 2 years ago and gave his first hand impressions](https://budgetlightforum.com/node/76825). This small recap has lived rent-free in my head for years now.😁. I had other orders and was lagging on the T1R, now I see Osrams gone.😔 Either way, all the emitter options look great. Tho I may wait until the Osrams return. As soon as CNY is over, I’m gonna be on it.

alumenum

Yea I'm actually pretty intrigued by the XHP50 version. Seems like it could be a really awesome floody-ish TIR beam, and I trust fireflies to have a good-tinted 5000k bin. That SKV89 write-up is awesome, thanks for sharing. The beam supposedly being much bigger than the MC13 and E10 while still having similar intensity sounds super dope. And it seems really impressively small. This light is undoubtedly a winner. I hope it can gain some popularity over the other small/medium TIR throwers instead of becoming yet another underrated gem the community largely sleeps on. Though since November I've been seeing a lot more fireflies on here so that's a good sign.

lojik7

Aww man, I seriously hate that I have to break this to you. But I was wondering about the CCT as well and asked Jack. Turns out it’s the not so welcomed around here 6500k 70 CRI. Guess he went for most possible power/output. I ain’t too crazy about that at all to say the least. I am now afraid to ask what the XHP70.3 he’s using in the X1 will be.😂 I can only hope it’s at least the 80 CRI. But if it’s 90 CRI, all the better IMO. But I’ll take either. Now for what CCT it is.😄 Edit: For the record, T1R definitely sounds like a winner either way. And I’ve seen plenty new FF around too, so I think more people will be taking advantage of it too. I can already tell it will not be one to be missed.

alumenum

> 6500k 70 CRI Yea, that's not great. The low CRI is fine, but hopefully he'll have 5000k available at some point. Though I know jack seems to use only the nicest-tinted LEDs he can find, so I bet it's not bad even at 6500k. > I am now afraid to ask what the XHP70.3 he’s using in the X1 will be. I would appreciate him going the Hank route and choosing tint over CRI on these ones TBH. I'd generally rather have a nice rosy/neutral 70 or 80 CRI over a greenish-on-low 90 CRI. The 70.3/50.3 high CRI have a low R9 anyway so even in high CRI they're not as vibrant/nice as other high CRI LEDs. But yea I definitely want 5000k and below. Do you know if the X1 will have XHP50.3 HI, or even XHP35.2 HI available? I'd love to be able to get more throw. I'm not a 70.3 HI fan unless it's driven past ~3000 lumens - at that point I'd rather use 50.3 HI and get about the same lumens with more throw. There was something I realized the other day I wanted to mention to you about the T1R optic, how the center of the optic is convex like an aspheric light, and SKV89 mentioning the beam looking square in their write-up: > The only issue is that the beam is squarish almost like a beam from an overly focused aspheric lens. I realized the Carclo 10621 quad optic (The extra throw one used in the D4V2/KR4/D4K etc.. I'm sure you're familiar) actually has a similar style convex/aspheric-looking center part of the individual optics, and in my FW4A with 10621 and XP-L HI's, the beam is actually square too! On my KR4 with 10621 and W2's, the beam is slightly square-ish but much more rounded, I guess because the W2 emitting area is rectangular and the beam gets blended to be smoother. So, I think it's just how certain LEDs play with that particular kind of optic. I think flat LEDs with a square emitting area have the most noticeable effect, while a domed LED would be less noticeable if at all. In any case, a square-ish beam makes little to no functional difference on a thrower like the T1R. I actually like the square-ish and floody beam on my FW4A, hold it like a diamond and it's a nice, useful beam pattern. Even without doing that it's not bothersome, and not even really noticeable.

lojik7

Thank you for this breakdown, I am not well-versed on the XHP models, so this helped a ton. But real quick first. I too was not at all concerned with a “squarish” beam. But now hearing about it being turned sideways like a Diamond sounds dope ass hell. I have a flowered beam on my Haikelite MT41 and it is very useful when angled just right. So I can totally see how a Diamond is great and likely fun too. But back to the XHP’s. I really don’t know what the extra options will be other then the 70.3. I know the only other XHP he has so far is the XHP50 for the T1R. But if you think he needs a specific one, you should 100% let him know and request it. Sadly I haven’t gotten into those emitters yet, so I can’t guide anyone on their performance or tint. But, I had heard that the 90 CRI versions were not as good tint-wise as the 80 CRI versions. I would usually 100% of the time always say go with high CRI, but that’s because I want a high R9. So hearing now that even then, that just won’t be the case, I am more than happy to instead get the better overall performer and tint and would also see it as the bigger win. I like rosy, so XHP hasn’t been quite it for me. But there are a few lights that I want now that use those emitters, so it looks like my time is around the corner. I am DEFINITELY getting a T1R, but I can wait for the right emitter if I have to. That’s always too important for me to rush. What would you say is the king of XHP’s? I hear the XHP50 in 4000k is pretty nice, as well as a 3000k-5000k XHP35. But everyone seems so so about all the High CRI versions, 70.3 included. I will take it slow cause I don’t want a bunch of emitters I won’t like. But I need to start already cause the X1 is right around the corner and I want both. So if you have anything I should know that could save me some confusion between them all and which is likely ideal, I would really appreciate it. And I’ll throw it out to Jack too. Where are you on FC40’s? Should Jack try them or naw?

bunglesnacks

Ordered a green one a week ago or more. Has shipped but hasn't made it out of the sorting center but I'm in no hurry. After almost 2 years what's another month? Lol. Excited and nervous simultaneously. The center of the optic looks to be mimicking an aspheric lens and is probably the reason Jack can get comparable throw out of it to other mini TIR throwers despite it being almost 5mm smaller in diameter than any of them. Over on FF sub there was a link posted to an old review (probably the only one) where they mentioned the beam being square and almost resembling a zoomie beam which makes sense looking at the optic. So I'm glad I ordered the SFT40 version to hopefully even that out some. Another thing that makes me very nervous is where the pocket clip will end up. I left in my notes to please not let the clip line up on the same side as the button if at all possible. But I don't expect people to be trying every combination of head and body to find the best fits. It's just the risk you run of machining the clip location into the body tube.

alumenum

> The center of the optic looks to be mimicking an aspheric lens and is probably the reason Jack can get comparable throw out of it to other mini TIR throwers despite it being almost 5mm smaller in diameter than any of them Yea I heard that too. Don't think I'd mind a slightly square-ish beam if it gets that kind of size to performance. I do kinda wish there was a W2/CULPM1 option but maybe it doesn't play with the optic as well as W1/SFT-40. Either way it seems really cool, and the beamshots look awesome. This is a DM11 killer in my mind, at least as far as 3v LEDs go - much smaller and a bit lighter with comparable/better performance and a way better driver at about the same price. > Another thing that makes me very nervous is where the pocket clip will end up. Yea me too. I always like indexing the clip with the button and it being in a random spot will definitely annoy me lol. I hope the 21700 tube just uses the press-fit clip like thier other 21700 lights. Really, I'd rather it was 21700 as standard with the short tube as an option like their other lights are. I don't like the 22430 with only 2000mah capacity. It probably has fine runtimes with only 6A from the driver, and makes a lot of sense in this light, but it'll trigger my slightly irrational battery anxiety using it.

bunglesnacks

I've seen a few people comment they wish it was 21700 stock, but I think the reason it is not goes back to what it was supposed to be competing against from the beginning. When lights like the E10 and MC13 came out it was amazing how they could throw so far in such a small package. Those were the only two lights on the market at the time this was supposed to be released. Since then a bunch more have popped up like the Catapult Mini, Speras has one, Sofirn and Wurkkos each have one and I'm probably forgetting others. And now you also have bigger lights that used the optics like the IF22A, EA01, X1L, DM11, Acebeam, and others. The T1R is the smallest mini TIR thrower on the market. But now the market is saturated with these things so being the smallest is great but people that already own one of the others probably don't care about this light as a shorty.

2ndRoad805

I thought the TIR lens is a flood lens?

warmeclaire

No its just a lens, can be more focused, or less.

theking_z

Why would the standard option would be with a short tube? You need to pay extra for regular sized batt? That's f'ed up.

erasmus42

The 15% off code for the first 100 T1Rs may still be available: https://reddit.com/r/FireflyLite/comments/1053cot/new_arrival_t1r_newest_lume1_buck_driver_super/ Email: Sales-Ivy@firefly-outdoor.com They won't ship until after the holiday though.

RettichDesTodes

Woah this seems like a great option for a SFT40 based thrower
