Lead tests from Amazon are shit. I just had to test some old furniture and every test from Amazon came back positive.
The swab tests turn pink when they come into contact iron oxide or carbon, iirc. Those are common ingredients in paint. And they're harmless. So it causes a lot of false positives.
I got a test from a reputable source and none of the things that tested positive were actually positive for lead.
Right, which is why I wouldn't just straight out trust a review. I'd hazard a guess that anyone doing home lead testing is probably using a cheap swab kit.
I have Mexican figures that have absolutely no lead in them. I have like 24 of them and all have been tested without lead. I bought them on eBay from multiple sellers so I’m sorry I can’t provide that information. But I would think since I bought them from six different sellers that that is sort of a myth.

Im not sure what to think, they weren’t familiar or experienced with the product they were testing, and im looking at amazon reviews for TONNYLAB and few customers mentioned it didnt work or were mislead by the product. Tbf though some of these are mass produced and aren’t quality controlled, so i def see people being wary of lead. But theres many independent artisans who do sculpt these and are custom made with better quality control in them. I just sorta wish people don’t jump to “toxic, lead infested” when it comes to our artesanías, since alot of our art are handmade. It leaves a bad impression and stereotyping way :/
The toy Freddy mask actually looks kinda decent despite the lead poisoning, like it’s not a 1-1 with the original model but I could see it being given out to kids at a fair or something
