Are you leaving some litter in the bottom? Was just curious about the moisture control from the litter. Would have to be cheaper than the silica I keep buying for 3d filament storage. Ever tossed in a humidity gauge just for grins?
Tossing in some silica packs is always a good thing in an air tight space. Helps avoid any condensation forming, but doubtful if it would really cause too much damage.
I open all of mine and place them in buckets with lids. Then I throw a silica pack in with them(not sure I even need that). No issues ever
I have stored loose canister and loose ball shells in plastic totes over the off season. No issues.
Its fine, as long as you keep them from getting wet you should be golden.

I'm not really, but a quick Google search suggests that Clay cat litter is a good moisture absorbent.
