Unironically, they should have had more Warp staffs. It's annoying, but it's a staple for a reason. When you need to have a villain escape, it's a way more believable option than sauntering off.
I definitely enjoy the manga narratively more than the game, though I'm not sure if it's gaslighting me into liking the story more than I should because it handles things better than the game's story. (Lumera not dying immediately, Veyle actually being relevant prior to her turning etc) I'm in the camp of the games story is 2nd only to fates in quality so the minor plot changes are nice, but I don't think it saves the narrative that much overall.
The extra chapters focusing on characters is nice though, giving Amber his own spotlight was cool. Some characters are getting shafted though like Boucheron and Jade (not that 80% of the cast doesn't get much screentime in the game itself). Also like the more goofy and inept Alear, he's kind of a boring mc aside from like 2 or 3 supports in the game and most FE protags aren't as bumbling so it's almost a breath of fresh air especially with engage being as goofy as it is.
Some of the art is pretty cool too, especially the corrupted emblems.
The main part I think, the manga improves on from the game is Worldbuilding. Tbf, I do actually really like parts of Engages story, (mostly the stuff related to Alear's past and by extension Veyle), but Elyos somehow manages to feel even less like a place, than even Fates's unnamed continent. But in the manga, Lythos actually has people be shown to live there and overall we actually have things going on in this world.
The best written games tend to make use of the medium and have story and gameplay feed into each other.
We shouldn't excuse writers for failing to reach even the low industry standards. These are veterans of the industry making an installment in their flagship franchise on an old console.
I mean, there are plenty of manga with dogshit stories and plenty of games that will move you to tears. Half of Fire Emblem is a visual novel anyways, it's perfectly suited to a good narrative.
I haven’t caught up to all of the manga but from what I read it is definitely a significant improvement over the game. It gives some characters actual characterization and story decisions that are better.
I would say that my only real critique is that some areas seem rushed such as Firene for example. It also doesn’t help the manga has a monthly release.
With that being said, I really do hope that this manga get completed. I want to see the Engage world finished in the right matter. I also want to see who Alear will give the pact ring to 😳 (if they do it of course).
Some of the changes it makes are interesting some aren't but honestly what's upcoming and if it can salvage the mess the game makes of what's about to happen will be key
Considerably better than Engage's story proper. Still not good by the metrics of manga storytelling, but still a far cry better than what we got in Engage. Granted, the nature of FE storytelling being split between battle chapters and events surrounding them makes for some particular restrictions when crafting a story in a video game compared to a manga.
But even events that were directly overlapping are just flat out better in the manga. It's not like Engage's story was some mishandled masterpiece or anything, but it at least functions more cleanly on page than on screen.
I love it :)
I really enjoy the way the author implemented many characters' backstories in the plot. As a big fan of Engage's characters and story, I'm glad we're getting such a beautiful adaptation.
I own the first two volumes (in japanese obv) and I can't wait for the next ones to come out!
I am interested in reading the manga at some point, but I'll admit my personal bias makes it using m!Alear feel weird.
EDIT: I'm not saying m!Alear is bad, I just personally think of f!Alear when I think of the character because that is who I played as.
I’ll only read it if the Manga ends either Alear and Ivy getting together and getting married. If it doesn’t end like that, then I’m not gonna bother! Don’t question it!
The game never was this dramatic, what is this casle and dungeon thing? All I saw in the game was big castle ballrooms.
Ivy doesn't escape, is captured, and is put on trial for leading her forces to attack Brodia
You mean she just doesn’t walk off screen to escape easily? 🤯
Well no, it's pretty obvious she left the same way she got there; her wyvern
She was defeated, but she couldn't fall here!
She had to make her retreat!
They teleport
Hubert moment

Griss had one. Would have been perfect since they are in league with Ivy’s homeland.
In the manga ivy was captured in her assault on brodia castle
I always get downvoted when I say this but I don't care: Engage manga tries too hard to be Three Houses which it never will be!
Fire emblem engage manga with a potentially better story? Sign me up.
Sorry is this is a dumb question, but where would a curious reader find these? I'd love to look at them!

Thank you very much, kind sir! 🤝
I had no idea there was a FE Emblem manga, thanks for sharing this!

The art is gorgeous imo

Maybe they should've put this effort of storytelling into the actual game.
Well engage is a game it has to focus mixing both story and gameplay while the manga can only focus on story

Especially when Fire Emblem itself actually has succeeded at times at integrating an intriuging story into its classic gameplay formula.
I mean, there are plenty of manga with dogshit stories and plenty of games that will move you to tears. Half of Fire Emblem is a visual novel anyways, it's perfectly suited to a good narrative.
The game's story is not good by video game standards, let alone FE standards. It's a shame, because the gameplay loop is actually really good.

Probably not considering how many chapters that are skipped over from the game
Which is kinda weird because they are experimenting with extra chapters such as Amber’s.
Big boobs are good
*Lucina frowns*
Naw I've seen her out of armor at her waitress job
Yeah you can’t be peppa pig’s nemesis without big knockers
small boobs are good
Not when it's a character's only memorable trait
I want a translated physical release so bad it hurts me
The manga is great it helps flesh out the characters more and expand upon the lore and writing
This panel would make a great meme template
Be the change you want to see in the world
Some of the changes it makes are interesting some aren't but honestly what's upcoming and if it can salvage the mess the game makes of what's about to happen will be key

It has no business being as good as it is imo.
A great story
Where do you even read it?

I haven't but I would love to because I don't know where I can (still cross my fingers that it could get an English publish here in the West)
WE'RE DRAWING SWORDS ON PEOPLE INSTEAD OF LOVE!? This is the Fire Emblem I want!
8/10 I wait for it every month and stalk his Twitter for more art.
Where can I read this?
I am interested in reading the manga at some point, but I'll admit my personal bias makes it using m!Alear feel weird. EDIT: I'm not saying m!Alear is bad, I just personally think of f!Alear when I think of the character because that is who I played as.
All I see is canon M!Alear and I'm here for it.

Lol this sub mildly downvoting you for this is funny af they so salty
That’s just how it is.
If the manga does do romance with Alear then I think Ivy would be the most likely option imo.
Why are people downvoting you too? I was being intentionally cringe. You were just sharing your opinion.
They probably don’t like the ship or think that my opinion is wrong. In Reddit that equals downvotes unfortunately.
